Chapter Text
“Kuro, wake up,” The morning was hot and Kenma wanted nothing other than for Kuroo to let go of him. Not because he didn’t like that Kuroo had embraced him as he slept. No, of course not. Rather, it was because of the heat. Kenma didn’t like when it got too hot or too cold. If it wasn’t for the fact that it was getting hotter, Kenma would have loved to stay in his boyfriend’s arms forever. He could never say that to Kuroo’s face though. “Kuro.”
“What is it, Kitten?” Kenma’s heart skipped a beat at the sound of Kuroo’s morning voice. “Ah, it’s too hot for you. Right?” Kuroo said, letting go of the smaller of the two.
“Yeah.”
“So, what do you want to do today?” The rooster head that Kenma had as boyfriend asked. “It’s Saturday after all.”
Kuroo was right. It was the weekend and Kuroo had planned for them to stay over at his house both days. They were next-door neighbors so there wasn’t much of a difference. “I don’t know. It’s really hot and I still feel tired.”
“We could just stay here and cuddle while watching movies,” Kuroo suggested.
Kenma shook his head slightly, “No, it’d still get hot.”
“Then we’ll just have to-” Kenma threw a pillow at Kuroo’s face. “Ow, Kitten-” Kuroo whined. “I was saying that we’ll just have to open the windows then.”
“Ah, sorry.”
“You’ve been around Yamamoto too much,” Kuroo said and got up to go change in the en suite bathroom that was in his room.
“Tora’s a nice guy. He’s told me a lot about you.”
“What the actual-” Kuroo popped his head out of the bathroom door, “You just said that he’s a nice guy!” He rushed out and put his hands on Kenma's shoulders, gently shaking him. “What have you done to my Kitten!”
“Kuro, put on some pants.”
“Yack! Sorry Kenma,” The taller boy yapped as he ran to the privacy of the bathroom.
“It’s fine.” Kenma took out his PSP and began to play a random game.
“You are way too calm.” Kuroo came out of the bathroom once again, this time with pants on. “But I kinda like that about you.” He cupped Kenma’s face in his hands.
“Kuro, this is embarrassing,” Kenma said and looked back down at his game, a hint of blush spreading across his face.
“I’ll do something more embarrassing if you want,” Kuroo laughed and pinned Kenma on his bed. The pudding head that he had as a boyfriend stayed still as Kuroo pressed light kisses across his face. “You’re adorable,” Kuroo said with a gentle smile.
At that moment, Kuroo’s dad walked in, “Hey boys! Oh,” He paused as soon as he noticed his son with his boyfriend on the bed. The normally boisterous and lively man fell silent. “Sorry to interrupt. You guys can continue, but don’t get too loud. Your sister and grandparents are downstairs.” He grinned.
“DAD! NO! IT’S NOT LIKE THAT!” Kuroo flailed his arms in desperation.
The older Kuroo chuckled, “I know Tetsurou, I’m just messing with you. Check in on Kenma though. He doesn’t look that well. I’ll be off now!” He said and closed the door.
“I’m so sorry about that Kitten! Kitten?” Kuroo cried, still embarrassed. “Kenma don’t jump out the window!”
“Why not. Might as well do it now.”
“Kitten no,” Kuroo grabbed Kenma from behind and pulled him inside.
“Kuro-” Kenma hissed.
“Did you just hiss at me?” Kuroo chuckled.
“No.”
“Oh! Yes you did!” Kuroo cheered.
The heck- Kenma sighed, “Kuro, your father said to not be too loud.”
“Agh, I had almost forgotten about that.” Kuroo face-palmed. “Hey Kitten.”
“Yeah?”
“You wanna go practice? We have a practice match with those snake bastards this week and I wanna beat them into the ground,” Kuroo and Nohebi’s captain had a so-called ‘rivalry’. Kenma knew that it was mostly just for fun between the two friends. Yes, friends. Their teams didn’t know about that though. So they thought that the two actually hated each other.
“Kuro, I know that you and Daishou are friends, you don’t have to keep up the act in front of me,” Kenma said bluntly while looking down at his PSP.
“How-” Kuroo stared at Kenma dumbfounded, “I’m not even going to question how you know.”
“The other day that you were in the shower, Daishou texted. I didn’t mean to look at your phone, but it was next to me and I saw the screen light up,” Kenma mumbled.
“Oh, right. That was when we set up the practice match. I was thinking that maybe we could get Shibayama to play as libero.”
Kenma nodded, “That would be good, with the playoffs coming up soon.”
“You’re one smart Kitten,” Kuroo laughed and ruffled his boyfriend’s hair.
Ding! Kuroo’s phone buzzed.
“Oh a message from Yakkun,” Kuroo opened up his phone, “Hmm, he’s asking if we want to meet with him and Lev at the park. What do you say, Kenma?”
“Sure.”
“Okay, I’ll text him back to say that we’ll be there in 15 minutes,” Kuroo said while typing. “Well, let’s go downstairs and grab some food. Let’s also hope that dad doesn’t tease us anymore,” Kuroo mumbled under his breath.
“It was your fault.”
“Yeah Kitten, I know,” Kuroo opened the door and Kenma followed behind. Their breakfast was uneventful, surprisingly. The older Kuroo did ruffle Kenma’s hair and earned a glare from his son, but other than that not much happened.
“Kenma and I are gonna go meet up with some friends, Dad!” Kuroo said as he opened the front door for him and Kenma to leave.
“Alright boys! Have fun!” His father said.
The walk to the park was a short one. Only around 3 minutes away from Kuroo’s home. It was hot outside, but there was a bit of a breeze that cooled them down.
“Yakkun! Lev! Hey, how are you two doing?” Kuroo chirped at the sight of the couple.
“Good, and you?” Yaku asked while high-fiving Kuroo.
“Great as always.”
Yaku looked at his and Kuroo’s boyfriends who were currently having their own conversation, “Those two get along better now. Anyways, I wanted to show you something that Lev and I got this morning.”
“Really? What is it?” an intrigued Kuroo questioned.
The brown haired libero kneeled down to where a box with holes was. He opened it and brought out a small animal, “Here she is. Lev and I decided to adopt her this morning.”
“A KITTEN!” Kuroo exclaimed at the sight of the small, grey kitten.
“What now Kuro?” Kenma replied. As soon as he realized what he said, a soft blush spread across his cheeks. “Wait, no, that’s not what I meant to say.” Yaku and Lev had never seen Kenma so flustered.
“Yaku, I got it on video,” Fukunaga said, climbing down from a tree.
“Thanks Fukunaga!” Yaku cheered. “That’s one win for us, right Lev?”
“Yep, the score is now 1 to 1 to 0.”
“Wait, huh?” Kuroo mumbled. “But that’s three numbers?”
“There’s a third party who we still have yet to get revenge on,” Yaku grinned. “We’ll be leaving with Yuki now,” Yaku said while cradling the kitten in his arms.
“Thanks again Fukunaga-san,” Lev thanked while high-fiving him.
“No problem.”
Kuroo and Kenma looked at each other, dumbfounded, as the other couple walked away and Fukunaga left too. Did that really just happen? Kuroo thought.
Kuro can be an idiot sometimes. Kenma silently told himself. “I knew this would happen. I mean, you did the same to Lev the other day.”
“No I did not,” Kuroo paused to think, “You’re right Kenma, I did.”
“Mhm.”
Kuroo balled his hand into a fist and smacked it to his chest, “Well then, I guess a prank war has just started at Nekoma.” Kenma still had no idea why Kuroo had to hit his chest while saying that.
“Great,” the shorter boy said sarcastically.
“We’ll get revenge another day, I really do wanna know who’s the other person that they are gonna prank though,” Kuroo scratched his neck.
Kenma already knew who the third party was, “Hmm.” Sorry Fukunaga, I think you and Tora are next.
