Work Text:
With his head pulling him down, neck cramping up and his body finally feeling the result of 24 hours of not sleeping a wink, Huang Renjun is about to crash down. Thankfully, he was on his bed and just had another cup of coffee to help him finish his last assignment. His deadline is in 2 hours and Renjun just needs to go through it once more, to check for minor mistakes, and send it off to never see again. As determined as his mind is at his goal, his eyes say otherwise. The texts on his screen start to float and Renjun starts to question whether or not his glasses are dirty or is he going blind, resulting in him screaming in frustration.
“Babe are you okay?” Donghyuck asked, peeping out the door frame. “Do I need to buy a shovel to bury a body”
Renjun gave a sarcastic laugh and laid down sideways, careful enough so that his laptop didn't fall. “I need to proofread this but I think my glasses or eyes are broken,” he cried out, taking off his glasses to give to his boyfriend.
Donghyuck came in and grabbed the glasses and glasses wipes Renjun kept on his bedside table, “let’s see if it's your glasses and not your eyes because that will be worrisome, who else is gonna appreciate my dashing good looks.”
Renjun scoffed at what he said and sat right back up. “Is my glasses broken?” He asked.
Donghyuck shook his head, “nope perfectly clean, however, I think I know why you can’t see.” He removed the laptop off his lap, set it to the side of the bed and sat down in front of Renjun. Donghyuck moved forward and examined his eyes, he smiled when he found whatever he was looking for and placed a kiss on Renjun’s nose.
“So what’s the diagnosis,” Renjun fought the red that was painting on his face at the sudden kiss he got (though it shouldn’t surprise him anymore, Donghyuck’s burst of affections still makes him flutter even after months of dating).
“First of all, your pupils are dilated,” Donghyuck said with a cheeky grin.
Renjun sighs, messaging the muscles on his shoulders. “What does that mean, do I need to call my doctor?”
His boyfriend tightened his lips and shook his head, “it means you are indeed very much in love with me.”
Renjun smacked his boyfriend arms, “you idiot.” Donghyuck laughed at his reaction and pulled him down to hug him tightly, “god, you’re adorable.” He said, snuggling his head onto the crook of Renjun’s neck, taking a whiff of his cologne and placing, yet another kiss, right on the spot where he could smell it. Renjun lightly pushed him away, “come on babe, I’m serious is there something wrong with my eyes.”
Donghyuck immediately sensed the seriousness in Renjun’s question, he scooted closer till his legs were placed over his boyfriend’s and rested his arms around his neck. “It’s 'cause you’re tired and haven’t rested your eyes baby,” he softly said. Renjun contemplated on what he just said and dropped his head onto his chest, finding comfort in Donghyuck’s closeness and heartbeats. “I know,” he finally said out loud, “but I just need to read it once more and send it away.”
He pulled Renjun away to meet his eyes, smiled at him and kissed him on his forehead. “Let’s do it together, okay?” Donghyuck's words felt like magic, he is so grateful for having a boyfriend that just knows what he needs, especially when Renjun finds that in itself hard.
He nodded and finally broke into a proper smile, Renjun pulled his knees back in a cross and grabbed his laptop. Donghyuck got out of bed to grab his water bottle and told him to drink up, soon after he found himself cuddled up with his boyfriend behind. Donghyuck’s chest was more comfortable than his bed frame, and his arms more stable (in keeping his sanity). Renjun scrolled down his word document, as Donghyuck would hum and wiggled his head (which was resting on Renjun’s shoulder) to signal that the page was all good. Minutes flew by and Donghyuck was now in charge of scrolling, double-checking spelling mistakes for him and making sure the font and spacing were right.
Renjun was now dozing off, barely keeping his eyes open. He simply feigned interest at Donghyuck’s comments, nodding and mumbling anything as a response. As he was about to fall asleep, he felt something poking his stomach.
“Junnie, it’s done. You can hand it in now,” he told him.
Renjun now finding the motivation to keep his eyes open, was able to find the strength to log into his student account and hand his assignment in. And as soon as that was out of the way, he placed his laptop on the floor and swung his legs over Donghyuck till he was laying on top of him.
Donghyuck laughed in amusement at his sudden action, he patted and rubbed Renjun’s back.
“Let’s get more comfortable baby,” Renjun nodded but not moving an inch
Hyuck stretched out his hand to turn off their bedroom lights and turned on the small Moomin night lamp on the side. He slid down, carrying Renjun down too. And grabbed the blankets that were pushed into the corner of their bed, which was almost falling off. He let Renjun cling onto him, draping his legs and letting his head fall softly onto his arms beside him from his chest so he can sleep more comfortably. He pulled the blanket up and they both closed their eyes to lay in silence. Donghyuck played with his hair and listened to the soft breaths of his boyfriend getting quieter. He kissed his forehead one more time before drifting off to sleep, “I’m proud of you, goodnight love.”
Renjun smiled to himself as he snuggled against Donghyuck’s body to find a comfortable spot where he could be whisked away to a deep slumber as he replied back, “good night baobei.”
A sweet dream and hours of good sleep later, the sun up high in the sky woke Renjun up. He stretched and rolled all over the bed, patting his surroundings. He realised Donghyuck wasn’t there, gathering up all his lost senses back. He smelled eggs being cooked and heard the kettle boiling. Sitting upright on his bed, he saw that Donghyuck had already cleaned up the study table, his laptop was sitting neatly next to the stack of papers that once took over their floor last night. Giddy at his boyfriend’s sweet gesture and the thought of him preparing breakfast, he pulled himself together and walked to the kitchen.
Donghyuck, still in his sleepwear and bed hair, was placing 2 sunny-sides-up eggs onto a plate. He looked incredibly handsome, Renjun thought, especially in this domestic setting. He greeted him softly, not wanting to suddenly scare him while he was still cooking. Renjun instead opted for the soft good morning back hug and kissed him on the neck. “Good morning sleeping beauty,” Donghyuck replied as he turned around to return the kiss, “I’m almost done, you can sit down.”
Renjun sat down and watched Donghyuck open the drawer. He then walked over to hand him a yoghurt fruit bowl and a spoon, he gingerly took them and thanked him. He sat next to him, Renjun saw that he has a much fuller meal; rice, eggs and leftover meat from dinner. Hyuck had a hot cup of coffee while Renjun poured the bottle of cold orange juice that was laid out for him. They were always opposites when it comes to their personal preferences, but seeing Donghyuck accommodate and do the simplest gestures just to make him comfortable makes him feel so loved.
As his bowl gets emptier and Donghyuck picks up his phone more than his spoon. Renjun asked if he had any plans, hoping Donghyuck could stay with him the whole day but sadly, he did have plans. He nodded slowly at him, trying to hide the slight feeling of disappointment and gave attention to his yoghurt instead, he took a spoon full and ate more quietly, contemplating on sleeping in or watching a new drama series.
Donghyuck snickered and told him, “I’m busy because today I will be demanding my boyfriend’s full attention and kisses for more than 24 hours since he forgot about me yesterday”. Renjun then rolled his eyes, ”as dramatic as ever”.
He stuck out his tongue, “you love me anyway.”
Renjun gulped the last drop of his juice and found himself wiggling onto Donghyuck’s lap, he wanted to hug him as close as possible to say, “thank you for yesterday and today too.” Donghyuck caresses his face “of course, you would’ve done the same,” giving his softest and warmest smile that is usually reserved only for him, which never fails to make Renjun blush.
Their small moment made him feel overwhelmed with affection, he cupped Donghyuck’s face and grazed his fingers over his soft lips then he leaned down to kiss him. Enjoying this newfound energy and closeness, Renjun searched deeper for him. He nipped on Donghyuck’s bottom lip and then gave soft licks over them, which he loves. Donghyuck just lets him lead, he simply holds onto his back for support and moves along with Renjun. Along with that, all he does is fight a smile every time Renjun gets desperate for more of his touch, and of course, Donghyuck isn't one to deny him of it. He slips his hand through his shirt and holds onto his waist, rubbing small circles with his thumb. When things started to escalate, Renjun would crave for more friction. He moved forward even when there was no more space left to fill but Donghyuck held onto him more sternly and pulled away. He flicked his finger lightly onto his boyfriend's forehead, “it’s your turn to do the dishes and change the bedsheets.”
Renjun groaned in annoyance, “Really now?”
“Yup”, smiling widely since he found this Renjun cuter than ever. Just him in his pyjamas, bed hair messier now, pouting while sitting square on Donghyuck’s lap.
“Fine, I’ll do the dishes, however,” Renjun pulled him for another kiss, “I think we should destroy the bedsheet one more time before putting it in the laundry.”
Donghyuck laughed and then proceeded to kiss him 3 times. One on the forehead, one on the nose and one small peck on his lips, “I could never say no to you.”
