Chapter Text
"Ugh summer break just started and I'm already bored!!"
It’s 10 in the morning and Jirou is laying on her bed listening to some music of the band she likes. The problem with summer for her is she always gets bored so easily. Sure it's fun for a couple days just getting to lay around, playing her guitar and watch tv. But then it starts to get boring and she runs out of things to do. Jirou has never really been an outside type of person so she didn't have going out of her room on her agenda for the summer.
On top of that jirou hates the heat it's always to hot in the summer for her and she hates it. Her parents always tell her that's not a excuse to be lazy but what else was she supposed to do? Her parents are out all day at work so Jirou is alone.
Talking about her parents her mom is supposed to be leaving right about now. She always like to go and say goodbye to her mom when she heads to work. She pauses her music and get up from bed. Walking out of her room she sees her mom standing in front of the door looking at herself in the mirror to make sure she looks fine. She notices her daughter looking at her and turns around smiling at her.
"Good morning honey!"
"Hi mom"
“How do I look?”
Jirou's mom has always had this obsession with everything being perfect in her life. When it comes to everything she always has to have it in order. The house, her job, her looks everything had to be perfect or it wasn’t right. Every morning she spends hours in front of the mirror. Making sure she looks perfect. That there is nothing at all wrong with her outfit or hair.
But jirou on the other hand is the exact opposite of perfect at least in her own mind. She doesn’t care how she looks, she doesn't care if her room is a mess and she doesn't care if her life isn’t perfect. She just doesn’t think she should put so much energy in useless things like that. It is what it is and there’s nothing she can do about it.
“You look great like always”
“Oh stop, you're making me blush.”
Jirou rolls her eyes 'like she doesn’t want to hear me say that' she thinks to herself. Her mom loves when people compliment her, it's her fuel in life. It gives her satisfaction that all her hard work paid off.
"Well I’m leaving for work now. I don't want to be late. Try to get outside today. You've been in your room all week, get some fresh air! Love you!" She gives me a quick hug shutting the door behind her.
"Yeah right like I would do that." she mumbles, pushing play on her music and turning up the volume. She walks back into her room and flops on her bed. She looks up staring at the ceiling. "I wonder what the others are doing." She says to herself. "I bet momo's on some private island and Kaminari is....well only god knows what he's doing. Probably something stupid." Jirou lets her train of thoughts spiral out into funny imaginary scenarios of her friends. But its suddenly cut off when she hears her phone ring.
"Who texted me?" She looked at the ID and it was momo. Quickly she opened up the message with a sudden peak of curiosity.
M: (Hey Jirou! What's up? I was just walking around when I noticed this really cute coffee shop! Do you want to come and join me?)
Well Jirou felt obligated that she should say yes momo was nice enough to invite her. But on the other hand she didn't really feel like it. The more she thought about it the more she realized that it would be stupid not to say yes.
J: (Hi momo. I would be happy to go. See you soon)
Well guess she is doing something today after all.
。。。
She walked up to the address of the coffee shop that momo sent her. Opening the door of the shop a cold refreshing breeze hits her face relieving her from the heat outside. There's a strong smell of newly baked sweets that get’s her stomach growling. She looks around and takes in the shop. It was really cozy looking. The walls were a cream white with plants and paintings hanging on the walls. The tables were decorated with plants and the chairs had soft pillows. In the background some soft type music was playing.
"Hey Jirou! Over here!" She looks in the direction of the voice and sees mono sitting at a table waving her over. She started to walk over when she noticed Momo outfit and started feeling embarrassed of how she was dressed. She was wearing a simple purple hoodie, some black pants, and black boots. While Momo was wearing a white and black dress with buttons going down to her waist where it stopped at a black belt. She has two bracelets one on each arm both were a pink color. Her hair was in a ponytail like she usually does with a clip on the side. Tying up the whole outfit she has cute black flats with pink bows on the tip. She looked beautiful like she always did. Jirou on the other hand felt like she didn't fit in with Momo's style jirou dressed comfortable and somewhat punk. She didn't want to ruin this already with my fowl mood. So she pushed her worries down and walked up to the table.
"Hey momo! What's up?" she smiled sitting down on the opposite side of the table.
"Nothing much"
"I'm surprised you haven't gone on any big trips like to a private island or the moon" Momo laughed a little bit and waved her hand.
"Oh come on Jirou is that all you think of me? A rich girl who is spoiled with everything in the world."
"Hmm yeah pretty much." Momo rolled her eyes
"Well actually I'm going on a trip soon to my beach house" she said making it sound like not a big deal.
Jirou sighed crossing her arms. Anyone can start feeling poor when talking to Momo. Momo just started laughing again as the waiter came over.
"What can I get for you guys today!" The waiter asked with an overly cheery smile. Jirou totally forgot to even look at the menu. She quickly skims through trying to find something half decent.
"I'll have green tea and some lemon bread please!" Momo looked at her and smiled signaling jirou to go. She just choose the first thing she saw.
"Um i'll have a raspberry boba and a melonpan." Jirou mumbled not really in the mood to talk to them. They just nodded and walked away taking their smile with them.
"So as I was saying I'm going to my beach house soon"
"You don't have to keep rubbing it in my face" Momo slapped me in the shoulder playfully.
"Come on let me finish!"
"Fine fine sorry"
"okay so I had the idea of bringing everyone in class and I asked my parents to and they said yes!"
She couldn't help but smile. She loved the idea of ebing with Momo and Denki at a beach house it sounds so exiting! "Really! That's so cool! It's really nice of you to think of all of us" Before she could say anything else the waiter walked up to the table.
They put my raspberry boba and melon pan in front of Jirou and momo's tea and bread. "Here's your drinks and pastries! Enjoy!" Drool was running down her cheek. It looked so good! She wanted to take a picture so badly but that would be embarrassing an.... Her thoughts were interrupted with momo’s laughter. She looked up and saw momo with her hand over her mouth.
"I'm sorry! You just looked so cute getting excited over the food" Suddenly Jirou stopped thinking about the food and realized what just happened. She felt her face start to heat up. Oh god that was so embarrassing! She felt almost like her heart skipped a beat.
"Hey why don't we take a photo?" It's like she read Jirou's mind. She didn't want to seem too excited so she tried to play it off like she didn't want to.
"Do we have to?" She says in a annoyed tone.
"Oh come a photo never hurt anyone."
"Whatever" She rolled her eyes. Momo smiled and Jirou took out her phone. She angled the camera so it would get the cafe in the background and the food of course. Holding up a peace sign Jirou looked up at the camera. Suddenly she felt Momo link there arms together and hold up a peace sign to. She couldn't help but let a blush creep up on her cheeks. She took the photo quickly and showed Momo.
"Oh we look so pretty!" Jirou nods in agreement.
"Well I've been holding you back far to long from your food dig in!"
She grabbed back her arm and grabbed her fork taking a small bite out of her lemon bread. Jirou's arm felt cold missing Momo's touch. She started to sip the boba that tasted amazing but she just couldn't concentrate. She can't recognize this feeling it was so weird to her. It feels familiar but she can't put her finger on it.
“Oh my god the food is so good!” Momo exclaims.
“Yeah it is” She says in between of bites.
“Here you should try some!”
Before she could protest she had a fork full of the bread in her face. She started to panic slightly and for no good reason. Its not like they havent shared food before. But something about this time just feels different for her.
“Come on I didn't poison it or anything!”
Why is she even thinking about this? This is a normal thing friends do and something they've done. It’s not like it’s strange. She closes her eyes and leans forward taking the bread in her mouth. The sweet and sour taste of the bread fills her mouth.
“It’s good right?”
“Yeah! I really like how it's a little sour.”
She smiles and continues to drink her tea. Wow that was really awkward. Well at least for Jirou.
"Hey isn't this place really cool"
"Yeah it is"
"I wish I had found it sooner! Oh yeah I forgot to ask do you think you'll be able to come? I wanted to ask you first because I wouldn't want anyone else to come if you couldn't! Your my best friend after all!" That's so nice of her seriously she is the best friend anyone could have. She's kind, funny, thoughtful, pretty.
"Um I think so I just would have to ask my mom and d....."
"Omg! This is going to be so fun! I can't wait." She grabbed one of Jirou's hands and pumped her other hand in the air. "This will be the best summer ever!"
Jirou's heart once again skipped a beat.
Momo kept rambling on about all her plans but Jirou's mind was on one thing. She is holding her hand. Jirou really thinks shes coming down with something. She feels weird about things they've done before and she doesn't like it. She just has to push through it just for the rest of the day. She puts it away and continued to talk with Momo. Enjoying this perfect moment just spending it with her best friend. Like they always have.
。。。
Jirou grabs her pjs and starts to get out of her clothes. She finish getting ready for bed and got herself in the sheets. She always loved this moment it's so cozy and calmimg not having to worry about anything. Except the elephant in the room that is literally breathing on her face.
"Why can't I just want a peaceful night but all I can think about is the weird moments in the coffee shop." She says to herself. Today was a weird day and she doesn't know if in a good or bad way but it definitely wasn't normal. There has to be a perfectly normal explanation for this. Maybe she should ask her mom about it. But she quickly throws that idea in the trash. She's making a big deal out of this it's nothing. She bets it was only because of the weather and excitement nothing else.
"You see nothing to worry about totally normal!" She convinces herself. She always has been like this not thinking about things too much just putting them aside. But at least she get things done quickly. Right?
