Sunny is a good listener.
There aren’t many things that Sunny knows he’s good at, but being a good listener is one of them. He almost never talks, and has terrible advice, but sometimes people don’t need advice. Sometimes, all you need is to say your frustrations out loud and know someone is there for you.
Kel rants to Sunny about how sometimes he feels that his parents love Hero more than him, and that Kel will never meet their expectations. He complains about when Aubrey is being annoying, or how Hero is constantly telling him to clean his side of the room.
Aubrey rants to Sunny about how she’s upset that her parents keep arguing, and how strict her dad is. She complains about all the kids at school that get on her nerves, especially Kel. Sometimes, on really bad days, she cries and Sunny is there to give her a hug.
Basil rants to Sunny about how his parents never visit home, not even on holidays. About how sometimes he has scary thoughts, and he’s scared one day he’ll act on them. About how people can be mean to him because he likes girly things.
Sunny loves being there for his friends, even though he’s sad that he can’t help them more. They have so many problems, Sunny’s pales in comparison. So, Sunny takes all his bad thoughts and feelings and locks them away. Because Sunny is a good listener, and not a good talker.
