The Short and Sweet Series

Summary:

Each chapter is a short but fluffy/sweet story usually involving Bucky/Reader but may grow to include other characters if the inspiration ever strikes. Keep an eye on the tags for when that happens.

PURE. FREAKING. FLUFF.

Notes:

I've been feeling . . . down lately. What can you do when that happens? Write yourself fluff!

This will be my "I need to cheer myself up" Series. Chapters are not chronological and don't tie to one another unless mentioned. Consider each to be in its own universe.

I hope you enjoy!

Chapter 1: The Jellies

Chapter Text

You had your face pressed up against the glass so hard your nose might never be the same but you couldn’t look away. You weren’t sure what about the creatures called to you, but you couldn’t deny the peace you felt watching jellyfish swim.

“One of these days I’m going to leave you and go live with the jellies.” You breathed, fogging up the glass slightly.

A dark chuckle sounded behind you before a pair of arms wrapped around your waist. Bucky knew better than to try to pry you from the view. He just pressed his chest against your back and kissed the top of your head before he set his chin on your head and watched the jellyfish bob in the water. “You’d miss me too much.” He said quietly with a confidence that was new for him, but that you loved all the same.

You smiled, but you shook your head teasingly. “I don’t think so.”

Bucky chuckled again, his chest rumbling against your back. “Why not?”

You shrugged as best as you could in his grasp. “You’d come with me, obviously.”

“Mmm. I thought you were leaving me.” He pointed out.

“Shhhhh.” You moved one of the hands that was currently pressed against the glass and waved it behind you awkwardly, your elbow refusing to bend the way you needed it to in order to shush him properly. “Don’t think about it too hard.”

Bucky shook his head but pressed another loving kiss to the top of your head. “Whatever you say doll.” He whispered softly.

The two of you turned your attention back to the jellyfish and lapsed into silence. Neither of you knew how much time had passed before Bucky sighed and tugged on your arm.

“Come on, doll.” He murmured. “It’s late.”

You groaned in disappointment and took one last look at the jellyfish before you let him lead you away.

Minutes later, Tony walked past, head bent as his fingers flew over the keypad of his phone. Abruptly, he stopped. His head came up and he slowly turned to look at the fishtank he was seriously thinking about getting rid of. A sharp string of curses was followed by your name as he yelled through the tower. “I know this was you! For the last time! STOP SMUDGING THE GLASS! I SWEAR! IT’S LIKE LIVING WITH A HOUSE FULL OF CHILDREN!”

You, far away and snuggled in Bucky’s arms, didn't respond.

Two days later, there were more smudges on the tank.
