Dream ran. He had been running for at least 5 hours. His large, scarred hand enveloping a smaller, paler hand. Dream ran and honestly didn't know what from at this point. All he knew was he had to get George out of there.
George tugged on Dream to stop and spoke up. "Dream-". Dream continued to run, pulling george along.
"Dream!" George shouted, tugging Dream to a halt. "We're far enough to be safe. Please, stop running."
Dream turned to meet George's brown eyes. "I- sorry. I got a little carried away. I just- I wanted to protect you." He spoke in a hushed tone and released George's hand.
George reached to take Dream's hand back. "Dont apologize, I'm thankful." George looks into honey colored eyes and smiles. "The danger is long gone because of your quick thinking." George squeezes Dream's hand.
Dream smiled and started to tear up. "I thought I was gonna lose you back there, Georgie..." Dream squeezed back and pulled George in for a tight hug. "I was terrified..."
George wrapped his arms around Dream and started to sniffle a little. "Dream, its okay, I'm here, and I'm safe..." He muttered into Dreams shoulder.
Dream pulls back from the hug and raises his hand to cup George's face. "George..?" He gently moved his thumb across George's cheek.
George nodded and sniffled again, his hands gripping Dreams shirt. "Yeah?"
Dream looked into George's deep brown eyes and smiled a sort of shy smile. "I love you, Georgie. Please don't ever scare me like that again." He continued to rub his thumb over George's cheek.
George blushed and chuckled. "I love you too, Dream." He moved his face to rest on Dreams chest.
Dream smiled and patted George's head, using his free arm to wrap around George's waist.
They stood there for a while, gently and contently swaying, until Dream broke the silence. "George, what if I told you I wanted to protect you forever?"
George pulled away from the hug and smiled. "Was that not the plan from the beginning?"
Dream sighed and looked to the side, where the sun was setting just above the trees around them. "I mean, what if I told you I wanted to protect you forever... as your boyfriend..." his face was clearly pink.
George blushed and covered his face with his hands. "I guess... I wouldn't mind." He replied cautiously.
Dream's face snapped back to look at George. He was smiling wildly. "You mean it? You really wouldn't?"
George uncovered his face and smiled shyly, looking up at the boy who'd saved his life more times than he can count. "Yeah, I mean it. We can... we can be boyfriends." He spoke a little more confidently this time.
Dream quickly cupped George's face and started to pepper his forehead and cheeks with light kisses. "I cant believe this, Georgie." He looked at George, admiring every aspect of his handsome face. "I cant believe you're mine."
George blushed and chuckled. "Yeah, I'm yours." He lowered his eyes to look at Dreams lips. The same lips that uttered the words "I love you" less than an hour ago. The same lips he'd refuse to admit to thinking about how they tasted. The same lips he didn't have to worry about how much he wanted to kiss them anymore because he could.
Dream put a hand behind George's head and kissed his cheek gently, making a warmth bloom through George's chest like a fireplace in a snowstorm.
George looked at Dreams gorgeous honey eyes and beautiful freckles littered over his perfect face. He leaned up, standing on his toes, and cupped Dreams face in his small hands. He smiled. "Can I kiss you?"
It was barely a whisper but the words sent shivers down Dreams spine and his stomach did an excited flip. "You have no idea how long I've waited to hear that." Dream responded in a husky voice.
At last, with one last smile, George's lips collided with Dream's. It was sweet and passionate, and George kissed Dream like he was his last lifeline. George's hands somehow ended up in Dreams wavy blonde hair and Dreams hands rested on George's hips.
When they broke apart, faces flushed and lips sore, they smiled and sat beneath a tree, hands never leaving the others body in some way.
They could finally rest.
