"Hey… wake up…"
"Wakey wakey, sleepyhead!"
Echoing noises rung in the boy's ears, in one ear and then out the other. He was unaware of what was going on, eyes shut and body unmoving.
"Phew… I didn't think I'd be so nervous about this…"
"Hey, hey! Don't need to be so anxious, I got this!"
The boy felt something tightly grasp onto his shoulder and start to shake him. The constant jerking movement whoever was doing this was putting him through made him feel sick. Would they stop soon…?
"Maaru, stop it!", one voice hissed. "It might take him time to wake up, there's no need for this."
"Yeesh, no need to be a killjoy.", the other huffed. "Hey, look, I think it worked", they smirked as they finally let go of the boy.
"Hm…?"
"O-Oh!", the first voice gasped. She faced the boy with a slight — yet bright — smile on her face. "Hi… or should I say good morning? Or nice to meet you…"
His vision finally brightened up, allowing him to see his surroundings. The world surrounding him was a pure white and light blue and full of floating circles and squares. For him it was perplexing enough, his eyes darted to the two people facing him. There were two of them…? He let out a simple "Who… are you…?", waiting for an answer.
"Ok… umm… my name is Marle…", Marle began, twiddling her fingers to attempt to explain what was up. "And that's Maaru.", she went on, pointing to the near identical woman next to her.
Maaru puffed her chest up, a smug look on her face. "That's right.", she chuckled. "And it's nice to meet you, too. Sorry not sorry for shaking you like that earlier."
"And we're your friends!", Marle continued on, smiling. "And you're… Squares! Your name is Squares, and you're our friend."
'Squares' was silent for a moment, before giving off a simple "That… doesn't answer my question.". He was still confused about what was happening, even with Marle's explanation. "What's this place? Do I have a… purpose?"
"Hey, hey.", Maaru began. "Before we get to that, why don't we have a little bit of fun first?"
"Alright… here you to go."
It was weird to Squares. Floating blocks and balls all around… he didn't understand much of it, but he seemed to be good at the game and it was… 'fun', like Maaru said, he thought.
"That was fun!", Maaru cheered. She was seemed happy about it, the brightest smile Squares had seen so far.
"It is a bit… lonely up here, so it's nice to have another person up here, Squares. I'll explain the rest in a bit…"
"I just know we'll all together just fine."
