Work Text:
The two lie on the pink satin sheets, completely naked. There is nothing sexual about the situation, they just hold each other with loose arms and admire each other's glory. They caress each other and smile softly, their eyes meeting and drowning in the iris of the other. The only sound is their soft breathing and the slight shuffle of sheets.
"Asmo, your skin is so delicate. I'm afraid that I'll bruise it if I press even just a bit." A giggle erupts from the other side of the bed.
"I won't break that easily, sweetheart. What about your skin? I'm a demon, I could make you bleed."
A hum answers the claim and silence resumes.
It's true, Asmo probably could do that, MC couldn't even if they used all their force on his gleaming skin. Would it be painful if he did it? Or would it feel like bliss and MC would share their blood with Asmo while cheeks red? Asmo could also probably kill them, Belphie did.
What a weird thought.
"Asmo?"
"Yes?" he purrs, slowing down the strokes on MC's arm.
"Are you scared of what the future holds?" Asmo pauses.
"What do you mean?"
MC's finger curl and they bring their fists to their chest.
"Well, does the thought of growing old scare you? The thought that you won't always look as you do this exact second?"
Growing strands of grey hair, limbs faltering, treasured memories lost within one self. Eventually needing help with everyday things to the point of not being able to get out of bed, to the moment you collapse and lose everything you've built and worked for, with no means of return.
A shrill chuckle disturbs MC's thoughts. Asmo leans on his shoulder.
"MC. You forget, I'm an immortal demon. Unlike humans, we don't shrivel up and die. I was here long before you were born, and I'll be here long after you're gone. Why?"
Oh. Yeah. Immortal. That's means you can't die. Ever. You will live forever and ever.
How strange. MC knows the brothers are immortal, but they've never met anyone else who is immortal. Is it true? Will the brothers, who MC has gotten so close with, stay forever? Is MC just a fish in their lifetime? One, extra clingy, fish that will die in a blink of the eye and then be flushed down the drain. What little significance MC is. They'll be gone before they know it.
It seems like a such long time; life. But once it is over, it is the end. All the memories and happiness will slowly simmer out. All the love will disintegrate away with the body.
They'll forget about MC. Has their existence served any purpose to the brothers? No. Just an experiment they'll look back on and laugh at. What a silly waste of their time.
The brothers may care now. They may hush and reassure. And maybe they will be sad when MC goes. But only for a little while. Then they'll go back to their normal lives without a second thought about MC. A forgotten trial from the past.
A searing buzz cuts through MC's head. A voice. Seemingly distressed.
It's Asmo.
"MC? MC! Can you hear me?
They're not lying opposite each other anymore. MC is lying face up on the blankets. Asmo shaking hands are on MC's cheeks, biting his lower lip.
MC feels the tears accumulated under their eyes, some droplets have already been released, sliding in the corners of MC's mouth. Their fingers and toes are curled tightly, to the point of pain.
Asmo's pomegranate perfume clogs up MC's nose, causing a slight burn.
"Asmo." MC says. His eyes meet theirs.
MC shivers. "I don't want to die."
Their knuckles turn pale white.
"I don't want to leave. I love life." their words are muffled by the croaky cried but Asmo manages to cling to their words.
"I'll be gone. Forever. You and your brothers will forget about me."
Asmo gapes and grabs MC's tightening fist.
"Eventually, I'll just become a blank memory. What even is the point of me being here? I will grow boring and ugly. You won't like me. I'll be a burden. I'll be noth-"
"MC!" Asmo grabs hold of MC's wet face and smashes his nose against theirs.
"Stop it! How dare you say such things about yourself!"
MC shutters, their breathing becoming swift and loud. Asmo's own tears drop onto their face.
"How dare you say how I'll feel in the future! You don't know that!"
"But Asmo-"
"I'm sorry for what I said. It was insensitive. I didn't realize you were thinking such horrible things! I don't want to leave you either. Never! I didn't think," he gulps. "I didn't think you would ever think like that! I don't want you to think like that."
Of course he didn't think that, he has never had to.
"And it hurts! Knowing that there is nothing I can do to save you from that!"
"How do you think I feel!" MC chokes. "I know there's nothing anyone can do! I know that I will meet an inevitable end. And I will have to leave you and your brothers!"
"No!"
"Yes!"
Asmo clenches his eyes shut.
MC wails, their body tensing and spasming seconds later. Over and over again. It hurts, everything hurts so much. When will it end. Please just let it end!
"MC." Asmo's voice isn't high-pictched. It's raspy and stern. MC looks at him.
"I don't care what you'll look like. As long as you're still you. And when you're gone," a teary inhale. "I won't forget you! I promise! You'll be with me always!"
MC howls, they reach their arms out and Asmo takes them and pushes them to his body.
They're both back where they started, except both blubbering all over each other and are closer than before.
Snot, tears and dribble covers both of their faces. MC clasps Asmo's hair, as tight as they can. Asmo clutches MC's back, his sharp nails leaving marks in their skin. They melt against each other, until their squawking and sobbing dries out.
Lax in each other's arms. Asmo pats MC's head as they sleep. He stares at them fondly.
'What a significant human. How could I ever forget someone like you? Never~'
But deep down, Asmo knows, that chance is never 100%.
