It's been a long week of unpacking and organizing before Akali finally settled into her new apartment in a city far away from home. Unpacking the boxes of belongings that she brought with her didn't take much time but organizing everything along with the wait for the brand new couch she ordered took longer than she would have liked.
Akali gave one more look over the entirety of the living room and she finally felt satisfied with the arrangement so with a content sigh she walked to the kitchen for a drink.
Initially Akali reached for a glass on the shelf but hesitated for a moment, glancing at the fridge with contemplation on her mind. She let out a huff and turned towards the fridge to retrieve a can of cold beer. The 'pop' that comes with opening the can of beer puts her mind at ease and she takes a swig of the alcohol, feeling the cool contents flow down her throat, a rejuvenating wave washes over her exhausted body.
She takes a few more gulps of the beverage before setting the metal can on the kitchen counter. Her eyes trained on the lip of the can, her mind thinking of what she should do next. Maybe watch some videos on her phone, play that new game she bought before moving to this city or just head to bed and sleep till the next morning.
These options are pretty good but they didn't particularly appeal to Akali's preference of ending her day with.
The tired girl shifts her gaze to the scenery outside her apartment window, watching the view of the orange sun hanging low in the sky. It's a beautiful sight yet it did nothing to move Akali's emotions as she blankly stared at the multicolored sky.
The muffled sound of her phone's notifications brought Akali's attention back to the space of the living room and she walked towards the couch to fish her phone from under a cushion.
Feline-like eyes scan the lit up screen of the mobile device and she sees the messages sent by a friend that's been living in the city for a few years. She unlocks her phone and taps on the message application, opening the message that came from her friend, Kai'sa.
Bokkie :
Hey Kali
Are you free to meet up tonight?
Kali :
Yeah
I just finished unpacking so I'm free for the night
Bokkie :
Took you long enough!
There's a car meet happening tonight
Wanna hangout over there with me and my friends?
It will be a good opportunity for you to get to know the crowd here
Kali :
Sure
Why not
Gotta get to know the people that put up with you
Are you gonna come by my place or sending me the location?
Bokkie :
Seeing as I have to put up with you
My friends got the better end of the deal
I'll come by
You haven't left your apartment since you got here
I don't want you to get lost
Kali :
They'll see whos the real champ when I meet them
And as if I will get lost
GPS and stuff exist ya'know
Bokkie :
You're totally gonna end up in some weird part of the city
And I’ll have to put up missing posters for a lost puppy ;)
Kali :
Shut up
Just get over here already
Bokkie :
I'll be there in fifteen
Be ready
Akali smiles, happy that she's finally able to hangout with her friend that she's been wanting to see more often. She closes the application before setting the phone down on the kitchen counter next to her unfinished can of beer.
She swiftly makes her way to her bedroom to get dressed, tonight she needed to impress Kaisa's friends. Got to show them who's the better end of the deal.
Since there's nothing much to worry about when it comes to her precious car. The well maintained bayside blue Skyline GT-R R34 could hold its own. So Akali just needed to get some comfortable clothes on and maintain her chill vibes through the night.
Deft hands pull the doors of the wardrobe open and immediately pick out the clothes that she has in mind, a pair of black pants and black tube top.
After she's done dressing in the pants and top, she reaches back into her wardrobe for the silky fabric of her most treasured piece of clothing, a black vintage souvenir jacket with blue-green sleeves, delicate and tasteful embroidery of the Azure Dragon soaring among the clouds on its back.
The jacket is something Akali stumbled upon displayed in a vintage shop’s window when she worked a dozen odd jobs to save up enough money to take care of her car. She hesitated to purchase it for quite a long time but eventually caved in and bought the jacket. She never regretted her purchase, as the jacket has become part of her branding over the years.
Slipping on the highlight of her overall look for the night, she walks across her room to have a look of herself in the mirror and feels that something is missing. Akali pulls her hair up into a high ponytail before grabbing her favorite black snapback off the top of the dresser and then placing the hat on her head.
Finally satisfied with how good she looks, she picks up her keys from the top of the same dresser and walks back to the kitchen for her phone and shoves it into the pocket of her jacket. But before she leaves the apartment she grabs the now warm can of beer, drinking the remaining content and throwing the empty can into the trash.
When Akali gets to the underground car park of the apartment building, she jogs over to the assigned lot for her vehicle and pulls the car cover off, revealing the stunning blue car. She casually folds the car cover and stores it in the trunk.
She closes the trunk with a soft thud, rounding back to the front and slinking into the driver’s seat. Starting the engine, she’s satisfied with the slight rumble through the car. Akali shifts into gear and drives out of the underground carpark.
Turning the corner after the exit, Akali sees Kaisa waiting near the side. She drives up behind the white NSX and poses a peace sign for Kaisa to catch in her rearview mirror. The signal is received and the reply is given in the form of a fist.
That gets a chuckle out of Akali. Their weird game of rock paper scissors will never end since Kaisa keeps humoring Akali. Kaisa turns on her signal lights, indicating to Akali that they’ll be going to the car meet now.
They shift into gear and drive onto the streets, all the while the sun is setting below the horizon. For the duration of the drive, Akali puts on some beats and hums to the tunes. She can’t wait to meet the friends Kaisa has here.
