Work Text:
Despite having been living in ES for numerous months, Hinata wasn't used to it.
His new roommates were nice, don't get him wrong... but he just missed Yuta's presence a lot. He missed the "Aniki, why are your shoes on my side of the room" amongst other complaints. He also missed when he's wake up with Yuta's cat sleeping on his bed rather than his own...
Actually, he didn't miss that so much, since, unlike his well-behaved Takeo, Yuta's fluffy feline Miruku caused the most mischief between the two of them, often involving scratching holes into Hinata's favourite shirt and biting things that a cat definitely should not be biting.
In an effort to lift his mood and to ease the boredom he currently felt, Hinata started to paint his nails. He lay on his bed, his hand outstretched on some old newspaper, and was painting away, coating his slightly chewed nails in his usual glossy pink. He hummed along to the music he was listening while going about with his task. It was one of Switch's new songs and of course, he had to support the unit one of his best and closest friends Sora-Kun worked in. His cat also seemed to be enjoying the calming atmosphere in the room as it was just the two of them, and Takeo lay across Hinata's legs, fiddling with a loose thread on his blankets.
And it was all going well until a thump was heard in his room. He lifted his head and spotted Hiiro entering the space having dropped some of his books on the floor. The red-head had turned to the entrance, calling goodbye to his friend, who Hinata couldn't see, A hiss was heard from Hinata's cat which had made its way out of the room at Hiiro's arrival, escaping during the timeframe before Hiiro sorted out his books and closed the door behind him.
"Sorry about that, Hinata-Kun!" The redhead had hummed, though his nose scrunched up at the harsh tang of nail polish, a scent he was still not used to. He plopped his books on his bed before making his way over to Hinata's bed, where the older twin was currently lying. "I see you're doing that nail painting thing again."
Hiiro was so close to Hinata that it felt like he could feel his heat radiating off him. He didn't let out a reply and only hummed, fixing up the nail he messed up. "Could you do my nails? After you're done, that is." Hiiro had asked after moments of quiet between the two. Hinata finished painting his nails and nodded.
"Alrighty~ Hiiro-kun~ it's a date… ♪" Hinata put the lid on his pink nail polish, securing it tightly before sitting up and reaching over to place it on his table. "Any idea on what colour you want orrrr do you want a lucky dip?"
Hiiro obviously perked up at the question, they haven't spent much time together in a while since they were both busy, being leaders of their respective units. "What do you think will suit me? I don't know much about this whole make-up thing, since Tatsumi-senpai often helps apply makeup..." he trailed off, his eyes flicking to Hinata's wide collection of nail polish and Hinata's eyes followed his. It was an assortment of colours and his collection had grown. One of the many arts Hinata had picked up from his work included pinching things from shops and getting away with it. It was illegal... He knew that. But it was one of the few ways he could help Yuta-Kun survive. He'd do anything for his younger twin, even if it involved illegal acts.
He shook his head softly, banishing away his thoughts. "Hm... how about this one?" He picked up a bottle filled with an inky black, his eyes drifting between the bottle and Hiiro before eventually putting it back down before Hiiro even said a word. He decided that wouldn't fit Hiiro's image and changed the bottle, proceeding to pick up a bottle of blue. "This one." He had decided firmly, adding without a beat "It'd match your eyes."
Hiiro perked up, the silence between them not awkward but peaceful. Hinata mused he could get used to this. It was comforting, Hiiro placed his hand down, and Hinata unscrewed the bottle, coating the blue liquid on Hiiro's nails, the ticklish boy letting out occasional giggles.
Yeah, he could get used to this. Hanging out with Hiiro was nice.
