"Why did you want to come here anywhere?" asked the Doctor as we stepped through the dusty barn.
Ignoring my vague excuses, her keen eyes immediately noticed the large rebar protruding from one of the barn's support beams. "Ooh, that looks nasty - you could have someone's eye out with that."
"Good point, let's cut it down," I replied, a little too brightly.
That earned me a quirked eyebrow, but without a word, she gave the hook a quick blast with her sonic and took care of it.
"It's getting dark soon," I said, apropos of nothing.
"Hmm, you seem almost supernaturally aware of that, so perhaps we should be on our way," she said airily, giving me a knowing look.
My face reddening, I trudged after her back to the TARDIS. I should've known I couldn't pull one over on the Doctor; she's been around the block – probably a million years before it was even there.
Opening the door, she stopped on the threshold. She gave me a soft, indulgent smile on hearing the low engine growl of a muscle car pulling up nearby.
My heart quickened. "Can't we-"
"-I think we've meddled enough, don't you? Come on, time to go," she insisted. "Although, I think I might be withdrawing your alternate dimension traveling privileges for a while," she added with a wink.
