TW// Shipwreck, blood, thoughts of death
The waves crashed against the boat, rocking it back and forth aggressively on the murky water. The storm wasn’t stopping anytime soon, and Bakugou knew that. He tried to steer clear of the big wave that was approaching, but it became almost impossible. He had lost control of the boat, it was pointless to try and steer it. He knew what was about to happen, and he braced himself for the impact, tightening his hold on his life jacket, and grabbing his ring, shoving it in his pocket.
Within seconds, the boat crashed. It flipped, knocking Bakugou out with all his belongings with it. Bakugou tried swimming up, but he couldn’t, his arms and feet refused to move and the lifejacket wasn’t bringing him back up to the surface. He started to sink, slowly, unable to catch his breath. No matter how hard he tried to make his body move, it wouldn’t.
Bakugou accepted his fate, and how he will most likely die here. There was no one around, especially not during a storm, He went too far out, not even the coast guards would see him.
He was running out of breath, slowly, but fast enough for him to lose consciousness, knocking his head and his body on a number of sharp rocks, making him get bruised and cut up. Blood started to leave a few of his wounds, one from his head, and the other two on his leg.
He sunk, and his body laid on the rocks at the bottom of the ocean. Fishes swam to see what was happening, turning away when they saw the blood darken the water.

Kirishima spent most of his days swimming around in the ocean, watching the fish swim around and sometimes even observing humans that were on the beach.
He was a beautiful merman, with a ombre red and black tail, the red starting from his torso and slowly merging to black all the way down to the fluke. The fins were red and matched the colour of his long red hair. He kept his shark tooth necklace on him at all times, and he protected it with his life. It was a gift his mom gave him as a young child.
Kirishima had a routine to swim around in the deeper, more rocky part of the ocean. He seemed to always find some sort of treasure when he was down there, and he enjoyed it.
However, on this particular day, instead of finding something like a jar, or a notebook like he has in the past, he found a person.
A young man, probably around Kirishima’s age, maybe a bit older. His blonde hair was floating up, and his red eyes were staring into nothing.
Kirishima knew it was risky saving him, but he felt like he had to do it. He started dragging the human up by the handle of his life jacket and started to pull him up above the water, trying not to choke him at the same time.
Eijirou was quick to swim up to the surface, pulling the body along with him to the rocks. He laid the man on the rocks, being careful with his head, and placing it down gently.
He checked his pulse, it was there, but it was slow. To slow. Kirishima knew that he needed to perform CPR, but he didn’t know how a human would feel about practically kissing a fish.
He debated his options, but in the end, went with saving the man. He carefully performed CPR, checking to see if it’s working.
Soon enough it did, the man shot up and sat up straight, gasping for air, coughing blood and water out.
“Thank god you’re alive.” Kirishima chuckled, waving his tail around in the water.
“Yeah,” Bakugou sighed, taking a look at his surroundings. His eyes skimmed over Kirishima's tail, he passed it, then did a double-take to make sure that what he saw was real.
And it was. He saw Kirishima's red and black ombré tail, flapping around in the water. He was in shock, almost scared, almost . He knew he was underwater for a long time, but he couldn’t believe his eyes. There was a merman swimming right in front of him.
“Uhm,” Bakugou coughed and scratched his neck slowly. “You’re…a…”
“Mermaid.” Kirishima finished his sentence for him, laughing. “But merman more so.”
Bakugou nodded, scooting back a bit in the rocks. He didn’t know why he did, but he knew he wasn’t scared of the sea creature in front of him. He felt strangely safe with him.
“I’m Kirishima by the way.” Kirishima stuck his hand out and gave it to Bakugou to shake. “Well, that’s my surname. I'm Eijiro Kirishima.”
“I’m Bakugou. Katsuki Bakugou.” Bakugou replied, shaking Eijro’s hand.

The two quickly became friends after that day. Kirishima made daily visits to the shore, avoiding humans other than Bakugou. And on days where the water was calm, Katsuki would drive out on his boat to meet Eijro on the secluded island.
This also happened to be one of those days Bakugou drove out to see him, and he had something big to say. Or more so to ask. He was feeling a little nervous about asking.
What Bakugou didn’t know was that Kirishima had the exact same thoughts in his mind.
Kirishima was waiting for Katsuki on the rocks where they first met, brain running 100 miles per hour. He was having doubts about his question, he started to think it would be weird, gross almost.
Before he got a chance to think about it harder than he already was, Bakugou pulled up on the boat. He threw the anchor into the water, letting it hit the bottom before he got out of the boat, holding a basket full of food.
“Hey Kiri,” Bakugou said as he cautiously walked on the rocks, avoiding steep edges making sure he won’t fall. He’s walked these rocks many times, but somehow he always managed to slip somewhere.
“Ooh, you brought food.” Kirishima was always excited when Bakugou brought food. He’s never tried human food until now. There were always surprises with what he brought. Whether they were Pocky sticks or some form of chips, he was always excited.
And today was no different. Bakugou had brought some fruits, some new snacks and even some ice cream.
“We need to eat this first,” Bakugou started as he showed Eijirou the tub of ice cream. “Or else it’s going to melt and get everywhere.”
Kirishima eyes the tub, wondering what was inside and how something could melt. He's never seen or heard of anything like this.
“Let me guess,” Katsuki sighed. “You’ve never seen this before?”
Kirishima shook his head, watching as Bakugou opened the lid. Inside was the soft vanilla ice cream. Kirishima was amazed when Bakugou scooped some into a spoon.
“Open,” Bakugou said as he put the spoon in front of his lips. Kirishima hesitated for a moment, it wasn’t that he didn’t trust Bakugou, he just didn’t know what to expect. When he finally had the guts to eat it, he was ecstatic. It was new for him, but he definitely enjoyed it.
“Woah this is so good!” Kiri smiled, showing off his sharp teeth. “It’s so light and creamy but flavourful at the same time. I can’t believe you have this.”
“Mhm,” Balugou nodded, eating a spoonful of ice cream.
The two of them talked for a few hours before Kirishima decided he would ask Bakugou what he wanted to ask. His palms started to sweat, and he started feeling nervous and jittery.
“Bakugou,” Kirishima whispered nervously. Bakugou glanced at him from the corner of his eye, but let him finish his sentence before he interrupted. “I have a question.”
“Mm?” Bakugou quirked an eyebrow, glancing at Kiri with a confused look on his face.
“Ok so please don’t get weird out by this,” Kiri hesitated to continue, “but I was wondering if we could date? That’s the word, right? Date? I think it is. God, what am I saying.”
Bakugou stopped Kiri before he went and rambling on whether or not he used the right word by kissing him. To say the least, Kirishima was shocked, but he quickly kissed him back.
When they pulled away, the two of them needed a moment to recollect themselves, before they looked back at each other.
“That’s a yes, Eijirou,” Bakugou whispered as he leaned in to kiss his cheek. “I would love to be your boyfriend.”
***
“Kat,” Kirishima poked Bakugous cheek. “You need to be back in the city today.”
Bakugou groaned, rolling over to face the other side, so Kirishima wouldn’t poke his face.
Kirishima groaned, going underwater and collected water in his jar so he could splash it on him.
“Kiri!” Bakugou yelled as he jumped up. “What the hell?”
Kirishima laughed, swimming around, splashing him using his tail. “I told you to get up.”
“You’re so lucky I love you,” Bakugou grumbled as he walked over to the rocks where his boyfriend was sitting.
“Yes I’m so lucky” Kirishima laughed as he pulled Bakugous face down to kiss him.
“I still have an hour before I need to head back,” Bakugou smiled as he made himself comfy on the rocks.
“God I love you so much Bakugou,” Kirishima smiled, giving him a bunny kiss. He continued by placing a bunch of kisses on his cheeks and forehead.
“This is nice,” Bakugou sighed, taking in the view and enjoyed the time he had with his boyfriend. They didn’t get to see each other often, but when they did, they treasured every moment together.
“How are we gonna make this work?” Kirishima asked as he laid his head on Bakugous thighs, making himself comfy.
“I don’t know,” Bakugou replied, stroking his hair softly. “But we’ll figure something out.”
