Work Text:
The first thing Bobbie felt when she woke up was the strong arms of her husband wrapped securely around her, the next their baby settled on her full bladder. Bobbie groaned, not wanting to get up, but she didn’t have a choice.
“Larry? Let me up I have to pee,” Bobbie whined, patting his arm gently and squirming against his hold. Larry grumbled something incoherent and rolled over, letting Bobbie ease out of the bed. Fumbling around for the switch, Bobbie finally turned on the bedside lamp on the nightstand, picking up the tented piece of paper on it before padding to the bathroom. As she got ready for the busy day she finally read the note from the nightstand.
Have a breakfast event this morning. Will pick you up from work before the ultrasound.

Bobbie smiled softly to herself exiting the bathroom to get dressed. She kneeled over on the bed, her face hovering over Larry’s, pressing a light kiss to his lips. Larry’s eyes peered open, seeing Bobbie kissing him again.
“Mhmm, good morning,” he greeted, wrapping his arms around Bobbie and pulling her over to lay on him.
“Hey there, I gotta get going. I’m taking the subway to work today since Jo is picking me up for our appointment,” Bobbie explained while he peppered soft kisses across her forehead.
“I’ll take you. You know Joey and I don’t want you on the subway. It’s too dangerous.”
“It’s your day off I don’t want you to get up if you don’t have to,” Bobbie climbed off of the bed, walking over to their closet, “also I used to take the subway all the time. I’ll be fine.”
“Yes but now it’s not just you. You try telling Joanne that you’re taking her kid on the subway.” Larry said getting up behind her and throwing a t-shirt on. They both paused and shuddered for a moment before Bobbie finally spoke.
“Fine, I will let you drive me to work, but I’m paying for lunch after the appointment. I took the rest of the day off.” Bobbie offered, finally deciding on an outfit for the day.
“That’s fine. I’ll be downstairs when you’re ready.” Larry gave her a quick kiss on the forehead before retreating from the room.

The work morning passed quickly, Bobbie hardly able to focus due to her excitement. She stared blankly at her computer screen, just waiting for her phone to ring. To her, the time wasn’t moving fast enough. All she could think about was seeing Larry, Joanne, and their baby. Before being with her husband and wife, she never considered having kids. She was good with them, but it wasn’t something she dreamed of. Now, she could hardly wait to have their bundle of joy in their arms. She was pulled out of her thoughts by a small tap on the door.
“Come in!” She answered, starting to randomly smash keys on her keyboard to look busy to whoever was coming in. A neatly styled head of brown and grey hair popped in her office, catching her off guard.
“Joey! I thought I was going to meet you downstairs?” Bobbie squealed, jumping up from behind her computer and starting to gather things from her desk to take home with her.
“I wanted to come get you. Are you ready or do you need some time to finish up? Larry’s already at the doctor’s office.” Joanne said, checking her watch and her phone. She was oblivious to the empty office as Bobbie had already sped past her out of the door.
“You coming?” Bobbie tauntingly yelled back down the hallway to her. Joanne just looked around, shaking her head, and followed the younger woman out to the car.
As they drove, Bobbie told Joanne about her long morning and her excitement while Joanne just sat back and listened. This was Joanne’s favorite part of the day. She adored just sitting and listening to her partners talk about their day, or their interests, or just talk in general. Joanne never understood what it was about her that made people assume that she wasn’t a good listener and that she was unapproachable. The way people perceived her confused her at first, but as she grew older it stuck, and the reputation of “cold, heartless, brass, unapproachable, bitch” was what she was labeled as. At first, she fought it as hard as she could, but it was of no use over time. So she went with it, only revealing herself to the people who she deemed deserved it.
“... What about you? How was your morning?” Bobbie ask, hopping off of her tiny soapbox. Joanne snickered at the abrupt change of subject, recalling her morning in her mind, preparing a condensed version.
“Well, the breakfast event went well, my clients were very pleased. After it was over I went back to the office and made final arrangements and calls for another event tonight and then I got a very interesting call from our husband,” Joanne spouted, noting the change in Bobbie’s demeanor when she mentioned Larry had called.
“Really? What about?” Bobbie’s voice raised an octave, which it only did when she knew she was in trouble.
“Oh, nothing. Just that you had the thought of taking the subway this morning,” Joanne said in a sing-songy tone, but Bobbie still understood that she meant business.
“Joey. I should be able to ride the subway if I want to. I’ve done it for most of my life. I’m not a baby!”
“I know that Bobbie, but you’re carrying ours, and that’s the whole reason we don’t want you on the subway. God only knows what kinds of things could happen to the two of you down there! Please, just promise me that if you don’t want to drive, that you have Larry or I drive you somewhere?” Joanne pleaded. Bobbie let out a huff of annoyance and surrender.
“Fine.”
“Promise me.”
“I said fine.”
“Robyn.”
“Okay okay, I promise.”
“Thank you.” They arrived in the parking lot of the doctor’s office and Joanne parked the car in an open spot next to Larry’s. Bobbie unbuckled her seatbelt and went to open the door.
“Aht aht! Kiss me so I know you’re not mad,” Joanne requested. Bobbie rolled her eyes, a smirk on her face, before leaning in and kissing Joanne softly.
“Great! Let’s go look at that baby!”
---------------------
The appointment went well, all three parents elated to see that their baby was healthy and growing normally. Joanne had gone back home to change for the other event she had that night while Larry and Bobbie went to lunch, caught a movie, and shopped at BabiesRUs. They had been home for an hour or so when Joanne had finally gotten back, looking worn out. She was practically dead on her feet and looked like she could’ve collapsed at any moment. Larry and Bobbie were sitting in the bed on their phones as she drug herself in, gracefully plopping onto the bed between them.
“Oh, Joey. Poor thing. Was it that bad?” Bobbie asked, putting down her phone and opening her arms to her wife. Joanne crawled up the bed into Bobbie’s arms and sighed.
“Worse. I’m exhausted.”
“I’m sure,” Larry said, taking off her shoes and stockings, “I’ll go draw you a bath.”
“No. Come lay down with us,” Joanne whined. All she wanted after that event was to be encased in the arms of her favorite people. Bath, shower, food, clothes be damned.
“Maybe later, but Larry’s right. You need to get washed and pajamas on. I’d hate to face the wrath of angry Joey when she wakes in the morning and sees we didn’t take proper care of her,” Bobbie teased. Joanne grumbled knowing that they were right, and the sooner she did all the things they asked her to, the sooner all three of them could go to bed.
“Fine, but could you draw my bath and I lay here with Larry for a bit?” Joanne asked quietly, nuzzling in the side of Bobbie’s neck.
“Of course,” Bobbie got up, Larry taking her place, “be right back.”
After getting Joanne bathed and fed, they all climbed back into bed, limbs and bodies strewn everywhere, the three of them tangled up in each other. Larry looked at his two wives and wondered how he had gotten so lucky in life.
“I love you two.”
“Shh Larry i’m trynna sleep,” Joanne mumbled, causing him to chuckle.
“Larry, quiet ! Joey’s trynna sleep,” Bobbie muttered in the same fashion. She obviously was headed to sleep herself.
“Alright alright. Goodnight,” and with that, Larry closed his eyes, ready for sleep to take over him as well.
