Chapter Text
*snap* *snap* *snap*
Sitting in the sweltering heat of a late July afternoon, BB Molina rhythmically snapped her fingers as she leaned against the hard concrete steps. It was still hours until the hunt and, having ditched last period, she had some time to kill. And with how damn hot it was, lounging around on a street corner wasn’t going to cut it. Fliping her long, seafoam green hair back, she took a swig from her soda, still, it was better than sitting in math.
“Fangs, FANGS! We’ve got a situation boss!” And there it was, her daily dose of drama, incoming on the scraggly, band-aid covered legs of her number 2, Jay. The young, light-blue haired girl hurtling up to her stoop before jumping over the railing to land beside her.
“Ey, Blue-Jay, it’s way to hot to be running around like someone set you on fire”
“What can I say, you know me” Taking a second to wipe the sweat from her brow, Jay tried to get her breathing under control. “I’ve never been one to take it slow, especially when SOME PUNKS are movin’ in on our turf!”
That got BB’s attention, there were only a few girls dumb and cocky enough to think they could move in on Team Shred’s territory, and if one of them was, then things were gonna get ugly fast. Still, as the leader showing even alarm at such disrespect was a no go, so BB took a second to pick something out of her teeth before responded. “Moving in? You sure about that? Can’t be to many girls stupid enough to tangle with us after last time, you might just be seeing things.” Pretty unlikely, BB thought to herself, no way Jay would be running around on a day like this if she wasn’t sure, but holding onto her position at the top meant keeping up appearances.
“Sure? BB, come on, you know me. I got this right from Kyung, she saw them marching right into The Place just half an hour ago, and you know where they’s was coming from?”
If they were heading ‘There’, then only a moron wouldn’t be able to guess, but Jay was always so damn excited to be useful, she’d give her this one. “Direction? Well, there’s only four to choose from so spit it out girl.”
“Kyung swore to me, it musta been those punks from the West Side!”
Slowly, without a hint of urgency, BB pulled herself up off the stoop, stretching languidly as she did so, until she towered over Jay. “Well, looks like me and Jetstream need to have a little ‘chat’ then.” With that, she turned on her heel and marched off. Jay fell in line behind her as they both walked out into the late afternoon sun.
