On the afternoon of his last day in Touou, Imayoshi found a note in his locker. The paper was creased at the edges and its words were written with a careless hand that appeared more nervous the second time he glanced at it, analogical embellishments colored sharp to the point that it hurt more than it chewed at his mind.
To Imayoshi-senpai, it said, I’m sorry I couldn’t say goodbye to you properly today. I was really scared that I wouldn’t be able to say anything when I saw you and I’m sorry that I’m not enough of a man to tell you in person. But there’s something you should know. The truth is, I was in lo–
“What a fool,” said Imayoshi quietly to himself, and crumpled up the note before he could read the rest of it.
