Chapter Text
A white car rode next to Blackwell Academy. A young teenage girl got out and looked around. Immediately, her mouth dropped on the ground.
The school was enormous – a huge building, with a yard around, that was as huge. Was it a school or a university?
“Holy moly”. – She was rotating her head around, not knowing where to focus. She was so happy that her eyes got teary.
That was her life now – new school, new beginnings.
She was no longer the Hannah Crimsen – a nobody bullied kind from a shitty school. She is an elite chosen for Blackwell Academy for a full-ride scholarship!
Hannah took a deep breath and stepped inside the building. Right away, she saw people, who were her age walking around in a regular corridor, not noticing anyone but themselves.
“Yeah… The famous Hall Of Cliches…” – She thought and chuckled.
Her father already arranged everything, so now, she just had to go to the Principal’s office, take some instructions, her locker and dorm keys and go off with her life.
Said – done!
*Knock-knock
– “Hello? Oh, welcome. You must be our new student”. – Said the Principal.
Hannah shyly sat on a stool in front of him – it was the first time she ever saw this school or that guy – all thanks to her parents’ organizing the process.
– “U… Uhm, hello”. – Hannah made a nervous smile and the principal shook his head.
– “My name is Ray Wells, I’m the principal of Blackwell Academy. I’m glad our school welcomed a student like you Miss Crimsen”.
The man seemed nice and polite enough – explained everything, gave her a schedule for the year’s lessons and gave her both of the needed keys.
– “Thank you so much for the warm welcome”. – Hannah said.
– “Do you need a tour around the school? I can arrange our best student to help you for the day”.
– “Oh no, I’m fine, thank you”.
– “Really? Okay, thank you for telling me. On that note – thank you for this nice meeting, and welcome to Blackwell Academy”.
Hannah smiled and waved.
“Okay Han, you got this. Just don’t make a fool out of yourself, don’t flop, drop or anything…”
With those thoughts that were eating her alive, Hannah reached her new locker – with a number 113.
When Hannah loaded her brand-new books and textbooks into it, and began to look at her schedule, she suddenly felt someone standing behind her.
She turned and saw maybe one of the most gorgeous girls that she ever saw in her life. The girl a stylish short haircut, was dressed in an S category designer clothes and looked like a literal model.
She was standing near the locker 112 and studying Hannah.
– “Ah… Uhm… Can I help you?” – Hannah asked with shyness.
– “You new? Never saw your face anywhere in here”. – The model-looking asked in return.
– “Yeah, kinda just finished the meeting with the Principal”.
– “Well, welcome then. Looks like we are locker neighbors." – The girl reached out her hand fro a handshake.
– "Victoria Chase – nice to meet you”.
– “I’m Hannah. Hannah Crimsen. Nice to meet you also”.
– “By the way – your sense of style is so amazing. Where you got that dress and that purse?” – Victoria asked and that compliment immediately made Hannah uncomfortable.
– “Thanks. Yours also. I got this dress in Italy and the purse is from an Anime com”.
Those words made Victoria interested.
– “Italy has a lot of amazing brands, but I always preferred the French boutiques. Something much more “royal” collections are from there”.
– “Yeah, maybe”.
– “So, new school, new life, huh? Already have any friends that go here?” – Victoria asked with curiosity.
– “Lmao, no – I just moved here. No friends or boyfriend”.
Victoria made a thinking face and replied like, 30 seconds later.
– “Okay, I decided – sorry for jumping at you so suddenly. That wasn’t really nice, was it? Sorry”.
Hannah raised her eyebrow and her face became red.
– “So, I decided to help you set in – you are my locker neighbor after all. Okay, here’s the plan – on the next break, I arrange your sitting with my friends. Please come”.
– “Uhm… What?”
– “I’m inviting you, stupid. What do you think?” – Victoria chuckled and smiled sarcastically.
Hannah already prepared to think for long, but her mouth said everything before her brain.
– “You know – sometimes you need to risk. I would love to come. Thank you for the invite, Victoria”.
– “It’s settled then!” – Victoria smiled. – “We would wait for you – you will clearly notice our table. Thank you”.
Victoria took out her books, waved Hannah goodbye and left, leaving her standing dumfounded, wandering what the hell just happened.
“Shiit… I’m an idiot, I’m an idiot. Do Mean Girls really taught you nothing, Han?!” – She thought and leaned onto the wall of the locker.
The worry disappeared fast though. That was her chance. Her chance for a great fresh start in Blackwell with help of a fellow student.
Also – come on, that was just a meeting with regular people. A chance to socialize and she is going to let it go just like that?
After all – what can go wrong?
She rushed to the dining hall right after her lecture. Hannah would be lying if she said that she wasn’t nervous, but she quickly breathed and calmed down.
– “Hannah!” – Hannah heard her newfound friend Victoria, and turned.
– “Oh hey. Thanks for meeting me here – I would have had trouble finding your table”.
Victoria laughed.
– “Oh no honey. You surely wouldn’t have trouble with that at least”. – She gently took Hannah by the hand and led her inside.
When Hannah entered the dining hall, her eyes wided.
What. Kind. Of. A. Cliché. Teen. Movie. She. Was. In?
The students were looking and sitting exactly like it was portrayed in a lot of those teen movies – jocks with jocks, nerds with nerds, etc etc.
And the students were doing whatever at those tables – some dude even brought a ball and was flexing in front of his buddies.
But Hannah’s attention was quickly shifted to a huge and weird table right in the middle of the hall – it was two regular dinner tables moved together and at the table, Hannah saw some of the most fashionable teenagers she ever saw. Model-like girls and pumped-up athletic boys
A lot of those guys had a condescending and posh look at their faces – they were chatting and some of them were showing their phone off.
in her previous school, she almost never saw those kinds of guys, so she immediately turned to Victoria, waiting for her to point out the needed table.
Suddenly, Victoria took Hannah’s hand, and led her right to that huge table. Hannah swallowed from horror.
– “Oh Victoria! Finally, you are here”. – Said a pretty girl with long blond hair.
– “Hey there guys, l brought you my new friend. Meet Hannah – she is the one I was talking about”.
– “Wow Vic! – You have some good eye for the right girls!” – Some jock at the table said.
– “Hello everyone, my name is Hannah Crimsen. l'm the new one here in Blackwell”. – Hannah smiled and introduced herself.
Everyone turned their heads at Hannah, looking at her - the girls were eating her beautiful white dress with their eyes.
“Shiiiit… Okay, now I better not screw up everything”. – Hannah thought, but forced herself to smile.
Victoria moved a chair and helped Hannah sit and become comfortable. Hannah sat and looked around – there were 5 girls and 3 guys. All looked extremely interested in her.
– “So, you are the new girl, right?” – The same jock asked her.
– “Yeah, my first very first day here. Blackwell freaking rules - sooo different from my previous school”. – Hannah replied with shyness. Yeah, previous school…
Suddenly, Victoria spoke up.
– “Oh yeah, you're so right. Also, Hannah: I want to introduce you to the Vortex gang”.
– “There is of course me then - Logan, Zachary, Courtney, Taylor, Juliet, Dana, Hayden and this – this is Nathan”.
On the word “Nathan”, Hannah suddenly noticed another guy sitting at that table – he was a bit shorter that the other guys, pretty handsome – fawn hair and bright blue eyes.
He also wore a black shirt with a bright red tie and seemed a bit moody. His one leg was on the another, and he gave off a really rude vibe – Hannah couldn’t explain that, but that was like this to her.
He, unlike the other Victoria’s friends, didn’t try to talk to her, or at least say hi – maybe that is why he was basically invisible to Hannah.
Hannah coughed and thanked Victoria profusely, at least for the show.
Suddenly, that Nathan guy turned his head and talked with really standoffish tone.
– “Hi Test Girl. As l understood Victoria, l have to introduce myself to you. Well, you probably know me - I’m Nathan Prescott”.
Hannah was mortified. His arrogance displaced her, and she raised her eyebrow.
“Oh hell no prick – I’ll give you the taste of your own medicine”. – Hannah thought and smirked.
– “Hey there “prob-a-guy-from-a-loaded-family-that-l-never-heard-of”. Your parents are rich, right? Only rich people assume everyone must know them”.
Suddenly, the people around, all except Victoria laughed. Nathan Prescott angrily rolled his eyes, but was still looking at Hannah. Well, at least didn’t turn away.
“Yeah yeah dick, balloon up your lips all you want and let me enjoy a bit of my power mode”. – Hannah was giggling.
She loved that inside her head, she can imagine herself saying the things she would never say in real life.
Hannah began talking with the Vortex Club – Victoria’s friends. And yes, they seemed pretty nice and normal.
She even liked some of them, like Victoria, who she liked more and more, Dana Ward and Juliet Watson.
– “Hannah, really – you telling me that you don’t like your dress? Come the fuck on, you look so beautiful!” – Victoria was keeping up the talk with her gorgeous smile and amazing talking skills. Hannah felt amazing after those words.
But. But there always is a “but”.
Nathan Prescott basically took over her mood. Maybe even her whole lunch – THAT how awful he was.
Examples:
– “Why don’t you buy yourself some real consoles instead of that Walmart garbage?”
– “Where are you from? Hippietown? You so look like a run-down hippie”.
– “Victoria, she is sitting at Rachel’s chair – maybe she will be more comfortable sitting on the celling? Or just far away from here”.
After the lunch, Hannah was seeing red. Nathan Prescott, no idea how he did that, has gotten on her nerves so much, that she wanted to murder her with her own bare hands.
“Either that dude is the brattiest brat in existence, or he was raised in a cave”.
Welcome to Blackwell! Yay…
