walking to the nemesis cabin, he shifted his anxieties and knocked on the door.
upon opening it, the blue haired girl saw a nervous chongyun outside.
“eula?” he spoke. “mm?” “i need advice.” “sure, but you owe me,” she said jokingly. though, chongyun; being chongyun; did not get the memo. “ahh, alright.” “let’s find somewhere to chat, shall we?
the two sat on a bench near enough to camp that there was no risk, but somewhat in forest. chongyun often came here to think. “so?”
“well… there’s this boy i like. he’s always teasing me— but i can never get myself to hate him. at times he’s kind, too. i want to tell him the way i feel— i’m just unsure how to.'' eula knew who he meant, chongyun often ranted about him after all. “this boy sounds rather rude to you, yes? i will ensure vengeance is due— but for the matter at hand, i suppose the best thing to do is to be upfront. be confident and describe how you feel. if he doesn't accept, than that’s that. a dear friend would not change a relationship based on a silly confession.”
“but what if it does change our friendship… i don’t want to be the gay boy that confesses to the clearly straight one. what if xingqiu no longer wants to be involved with me after?”
“yun, xingqiu is one of your closest friends. he would not fret over something so minor— and i’m quite sure he will return those feelings of yours. curse the silly boy for causing you so much stress! you should be honest with your feelings”, eula lowered a her voice a bit, “and in my opinion, he does not seem like the one to be straight.” “eula!” chongyun whisper-yelled. the girl laughed a bit. “well, anyway— thank you for your help.i’ll be sure to repay you some time” ignoring the last part eula said, “you’re very welcome, buuuuut, if he rejects you, be sure to tell me. i’ll make sure vengeance is ours” and waved as chongyun got up from the bench.
yun still didn’t feel confident enough— and decided to stall his awaiting confession by confiding in one of his other friends, xiangling.
•
“seriously?! xingqiu again? sheesh.” chongyun pouted, “xiangling, please—“ “that boy’s obviously head-over-heels for you!” xiangling sighed, setting her dish down.
“how could xingqiu even like me? he’s so— perfect— at like, everything. i’m so clumsy and can never seem to do anything right.” chongyun lowered his head some-what. “you’re so dense, yun!” she jokingly bonked him. “he literally simps for you, if you’re so hung up over this just ask him out already! your intense mutual-pinning is getting very very annoying and making me feel very very single!”
“aghh, i’m sorry! it’s just so hard to get the words out. everytime i try; i end up asking something else. i’m too nervous.” he looked back up. “chongyun, just give it a shot. you’re an apollo kid, use your sunshine-y charm or whatever. xingqiu will accept your confession, stop fussing over nothing. you’re a very great guy and xingqiu would be stupid to reject you. now, go out there and confess already! i have a dish to finish,” she said pushing him out of the cabin.
well, he couldn’t stall any longer.
•
or,,, maybe he could stall just a bit more. maybe he could prepare a gift for the other boy?
what kind of thing does xingqiu like, anyway? chongyun had spent hours obsessing over the boy before, why couldn't he think of anything now? come on, think chongyun. what does xingqiu like?
he likes books but chongyun wasn’t sure he could find one the boy hadn’t already read. he liked fashion, but chongyun wasn't sure what kind of clothing xingqiu would appreciate. he liked tea— but chongyun couldn’t just bring tea with him for no reason. xingqiu enjoyed aesthetic things… but the question of what still remains. maybe xingqiu’d like a flower? a glaze lily, perhaps?
okay. he decided on a gift. he would get xingqiu a glaze lily.
“enough stalling! i’ll finally tell him how i feel,” chongyun stated confidently (fake) as he exited his cabin. thank gods he was the only one there at the moment— or his siblings would’ve teased him relentlessly.
•
was chongyun avoiding him? he was acting rather strangely today. so far he’d talk to eula, xiangling (who had kicked him out), and supposedly his siblings. maybe he’d forgotten their meeting? that wasn’t unusual, chongyun was notorious for being forgetful— but he seemed more nervous than usual.
well, whatever. chongyun could probably sort it out himself— and it wasn't his place to pry.
. . .
xingqiu was about to walk back to the aphrodite cabin when chongyun suddenly walked towards him holding a flower… oh, a glaze lily?
“qiu, can we talk?”
“oh, uhm, sure.”
the two say on the dock, chongyun fidgeting nervously. xingqiu wished he’d just spit it out already— his anxiety was through the roof. “so, you wanted to tell me something..?” he said, breaking the silence. “oh- uhm, yeah.” had chongyun zoned out? “i… like you. like— really like you. u-uhm, please go out with me.” chongyun shakily shoved the glaze lily towards him, looking away slightly.
instead of responding, xingqiu kissed the boy's forehead. yun’s face went red.
“i-is that a yes..?” xingqiu laughed a bit, patting chongyun’s head, “of course it is, silly.”
the sweet moment was then interrupted by xangling; who promptly pushed them in the water.
