Lando had been peacefully sleeping in Carlos’ bed with him spooning him from behind until his phone started to ring.
Damn it.
He didn't wanted to move. He was so comfortable in bed laying in Carlos' arms but there was no way he could ignore this call. The only person who would dare to call him this early could be Charlotte and if he didn't pick up, the next call was gonna be to Carlos' phone, so he lazily reached out for his phone
"You know how disrespectful of you it is to call this early in the morning Charlotte??"
"Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I love you too Lando" she answered giggling "Is he awake?"
Lando was convinced Charlotte had placed a tracking device in his and also in Carlos phone when they were both still together at McLaren because she always seemed to know when her two adoptive sons were together
"You just woke him up" Lando answered as he turned around to face Carlos who was gently stroking his back and placing kisses on the back of his neck
"Perfect, put me on speaker Lando"
"Not only you wake us up early, but you wanna steal my boyfriend too? How rude of you"
"Just put me on speaker please honey"
"Hi Charlotte, you miss me already?" the spaniard said as soon as his boyfriend placed the phone between them on speaker
"Hi Carlos, morning to you too, I just called to say that it's a lovely picture you have on your bedside table"
They both turned around to watch the picture with a lovely smile
"Thank you Charlotte, Lando gave it to me when..." his brain slowly catching up "How do you..."
"Oh and Lando, don't forget to pack your McLaren team shirt that's laying on Carlos' desk because I will not get you a new one the next time you forget yours"
The spaniard's face went completely blank as he realized something was wrong "Hold up Charlotte, how do you know this?" he asked now fully awake in comparison with Lando that was as lost as he could be
"Remember the video you posted yesterday on Instagram?"
"Oh fuck..."
"Yeah... guess you should've tidied up your room before shooting it"
"So I guess the fans saw it, right?"
"You guys basically have outed your relationship by now, they put 2+2 together and realized that lots of pictures from Lando's feed are in your house Carlos"
"Shit" murmured the brit letting himself fall on the bed again
"You guys just LOOOOVE making me come to work earlier and making me really work hard for my salary don't you?"
"Is it bad?" was the first thing that Lando asked once he properly processed everything
"Not really, for the people in the paddock wasn't nearly a surprise, almost everybody knew but no one said anything before out of respect for you guys" she calmly explained
"And the fans?" asked Carlos as he held Lando's hand in his and entwined their fingers together trying to give him a little bit of support
"They obviously knew something was going on between you two or at least they wanted for something to happen, so the reactions are in its majority positive"
"Thats good, right?" asked Lando a bit hopeful
"Yeah, it is, you guys know McLaren was never gonna keep you from going public if you had wanted to, but Zak was pretty much clueless about it so he wants to talk to you"
"Okay... tell him I'll see him at in his office in the next GP" answered the brit
"Oh no honey, he wants to talk to Carlos, he went all papa bear about what he's gonna do to Carlos if he ever hurts you" said Charlotte giggling. Carlos couldn't help but roll his eyes and watched as Lando blushed "I don't know about Ferrari, Carlos but we're gonna try and talk to them and make a public statement together"
"Yeah, sounds okay, right Lando?" said Carlos as he squeezed his boyfriend's hand trying to get his attention as he was definitely quieter than normal
"I guess so"
"Right guys, so I'll leave you guys to enjoy the rest of the morning, probably we'll have a zoom later to figure it all out, hopefully Ferrari's PR team will join, so check your phones when they start ringing"
"Thanks Charlotte"
"Oh, and Lando, that bracelet you were crying last week about having lost it, it's in Carlos' bathroom, next to the toothpaste" she added before hanging up the phone.
They stayed quiet for a few minutes, taking in what this meant for both of them. Also Carlos was trying to guess what was going on inside Lando's head since he hadn't responded as well as he had hopped. They had talked about going public a little bit ago and Carlos said that he felt ready, yet Lando didn't so they agreed that it wasn't time yet, but now that it was out there, Carlos felt relieved, happy about not having to hide the most important person in his life anymore, but maybe Lando was angry at him for accidentally outing them and while Carlos really hoped this wasn't the case, he couldn't be angry at the brit if he was in fact angry
"Lando, mi vida, are you okay?" he said softly as he brushed a hand through his cheek "Are you angry at me? Because I understand if you are"
He watched as his boyfriend took a deep breath in and let it out again, before turning to his side so he could see him "I'm not angry but also not exactly bursting out with happiness"
"I'm sorry" he said and he meant it, he really did from the bottom of his hear
"I'm not mad Carlos, really" Lando moved a bit closer to him so he could lay his head on his chest and cuddle into him a little bit "Is just that since we last talked about coming out I have been thinking about it and I think I'm ready, or was ready to come out, but I wanted for us to do it on our terms, not by an accident" he said as he pouted a bit
"We can still come out officially if you want to do something special" the spaniard started playing with the younger one's air
"It's not gonna be the same anyway" he said as he gently traced imaginary figures on his chest "I thought about kissing you when we get our first podium together"
"That's gonna be nice, mi corazón" he said as he placed a kiss on the brit's forehead
After a few more minutes in silence, Carlos let out a deep breath he didn't knew he was holding in and hugged Lando a bit tighter "I love you Lando, and im happy about not having to hide it anymore"
"I love you too Carlos" he said as they lazily started kissing together after they pulled away to breath, they kept their foreheads together "Do you think they'll put us in the next press conference together" he said giggling
"Of course they are, and we'll be the first one, I can bet on it"
"Charlotte is gonna go crazy keeping up with all the interviews at the next GP"
"Yeah well and if that wasn't enough, she's gonna have to deal with all the fans on twitter" said the older one
"I think she deserves a raise"
"She definitely does, sweetheart"
After that they kept on lazily kissing and making out, got breakfast together and went on a run, at midday as Charlotte had told them, their phones started going off with reporters calling them, but they were instructed not to talk to anyone until they had the zoom meeting later that afternoon with both of their teams
If they had arrived together at the next GP that happened to be Monaco had to be a coincidence, right? Also if they got to the track together in the same car
And why would twitter would be going crazy if they walked into the paddock holding hands or if a security camera had caught them sneaking a quick little kiss while Lando passed in front of Ferrari's motorhome
And if they ended up sharing their first podium together and Lando threw himself into Carlos' arms as he kissed him just like he had planned to... well, nobody could be happier about the couple than Charlotte who was making polls on the McLaren's official account so they could choose the official couple photo from the ones taken on the podium and was basically being a fangirl herself
