Vision of Vengeance

Summary:

A prequel to Eula in her younger years to obtain her cyro vision before she becomes part of the Knights of Favonius. She may be a strong-minded lady with a tough exterior, but she is still an ordinary teenager that can feel emotions too.

"Before grievance and vengeance, before clan and outsider, one must find "oneself" first."

Notes:

A/N:
This is my own interpretation of Eula's younger days leading up to obtaining her vision. She is one of my favorite characters in the Genshin Impact game. This is inspired from after completing her story quest, it got me thinking what kind of emotional rollercoaster did she went through at such a young age before she obtained her cyro vision. So, this is meant to be for fun, and I hope you all would just enjoy it.

With all the information I know about Eula (after reading her background story so many times), you would see I used some words from her lore and directly quoted her words from the trailer/game/lore, which is intentional. I personally think that would closely represent Eula from Genshin Impact the best.

All the information and credits go to the official Genshin Impact.

Work Text:

In a crowd of monsters, there was a young brave girl that cut down her enemies swiftly without hesitation with her claymore. Even larger monsters like Axe and Shield Mitachurls were no match against her that was half the size of them. It seemed this was one of her daily routines to clear out the monsters nearby the areas of Mondstadt. The captain of the Outriders was assisting her from a distance with his dexterous archery. He was not worried about his student as he knew how capable she was to handle all of them. The one thing that the captain could never find boring was watching Eula performing her distinctive dance-like aesthetics that no one could replicate and that was a signature of her own. With her aristocratic upbringing, she had incorporated her dance moves into her finesse bladework. As young Eula cleared all the enemies within her vision, the captain approached her and start collecting monster loots.

“Your bladework is different today. It seemed something is on your mind.”

“…Is it that evident?”

The captain was able to read her like an open book. Eula was confident with hiding her emotions from everyone, including Amber too. However, she was then reminded once again that she could hide nothing from her teacher. He may appear to be quite an old man, but his skills are unrivaled. He was the one that took Eula under his wings, and it has been two years since she was under his generous guidance alongside her good friend Amber.

“What is weighing heavily on your thoughts today?”

Eula had grown to develop a tough exterior around her heart. No one could see through or understand her cold haughtiness speech and why she would do so when she knew that it would only aggravate the situation. She was living in between two worlds that neither side acknowledged her. She was the estranged member of the disgraced Lawrence Clan who was struggling to deal with the shadow her family's dark past cast over her life. The people of Mondstadt were far from welcoming her. Whenever Eula appeared in the streets, it was as if the people of Mondstadt relived the dark past once again.

“Those trivial baseless comments could not get to me if that was your concern.”

Even though Eula always portrayed herself as strong, but she was just an ordinary teenage girl that should be approached with care and understanding. Sadly, not everyone thought the same. The only two that were very understanding of her were Amber and her grandfather and they were the only people that she could trust. Through time, no matter how tough she tried to be, her will could gradually crumble by ceaseless and groundless prejudice towards her. Eula knew that very well but wished to avoid accepting if possible.

“It is okay to feel emotions, Eula. Even a large land can crumble by just water and wind.”

“…”

Eula’s silence was her way to keep her emotions to herself. It could be emotionally overwhelming for her if she were to be constantly criticized for something that she played no part with. She could understand if she were one of the members that led Mondstadt down into its darkest era, but it would be asking too much after what the Lawrence clan have done.

“People tell me that if I just spoke more softly, or was more polite, or acted more deferentially, others may find it easier to forgive me, but the only reason they think that way is because they have never been branded a pariah before. There is no easy path to redemption when you are a social pariah.”

She attempted to free herself from these shackles of her own family yet struggled to obtain the acknowledgment of others. The captain did not wish for Eula to shoulder this burden by herself at such a young age like this. At this point, her grievances and vengeance were but a habit, a signal, and a shield to protect herself. The more she tried to give meaning to grievance and vengeance, the more it kept her in the endless loop of torment.

“People will always find a reason to judge you. If I were to speak politely, they will accuse me of being pretentious with them. Regardless of what I do, they will still retain the same opinion of me. Seriously, they care about my lineage that much? Must I pretend to be the way others wanted to gain acknowledgment?”

Eula did not want to admit to herself that she was a weak girl. She felt that if she did, then that would give people more rights to trample over her. It was not that she did not wish to find a peaceful way to resolve the problem, but she could not find her way of handling it yet. Despite that turmoil inside her, she constantly proved herself and others many times to be a kindhearted child who never hurt a single Mondstadter in her life. However, they chose to a turn blind eye to her act of kindness and only remembered the times she would speak haughtily when she was extremely frustrated.

“Would it make you happy if that was the solution to your problem?”

The captain asked with a straight face as if he knew the answer that Eula would give him. She did not say a word and looked straight at him before she realized that she blurted out of impulse and instantly regretted that.

“Not at the slightest. That was unlike me. I retract what I’ve said earlier.”

“Haha! It is okay to be mad and unhappy with your circumstances at times. However, the past cannot be changed even if we wanted to. Emotions will come in and leave you, Eula. Do not hold onto it that it becomes toxic to you.”

“You always told me the same thing every time…but I still cannot comprehend your perspective of life.”

“Well! I am an old man and lived a much longer life than you do. One day, without a doubt, I know you will understand. Embrace all those emotions that are within you. Life is not just two sides of a coin as to how you take it, Eula. Emotions should not dictate who you are. Allow it to breeze through you like a wind that comes and goes.”

“Like a wind…”

“As emotions change like seasons, only you are the only one that remains perpetual. That is the only thing we can truly claim as our own and only you could find that answer you are searching for. As long as you keep going, things will change, Eula. Please remember that.”

As she felt like she was about to understand what the captain meant, she felt like it she still got a long way to fully comprehend the meaning behind his words. It was one thing that Amber’s grandfather kept reminding her the past two years she was taken under his wings. She learned open-mindedness and down-to-earth perseverance that she did not possess in the past. It would not be an easy task for a young teenage girl like herself to understand how to free herself from her shackles.

-

It has been a couple of weeks since she pondered over her master’s words again and again with the hopes that she would understand the meaning behind them. She trained under him long enough to know that there was a deeper meaning behind each teaching he bestowed her. Sometimes she felt like Amber’s grandfather had exceeding expectations of her than what she thought she could do.

“I have no words to say with the people of Lawrence!”

Today was another day she was running on errands with Amber to purchase all the list of materials and groceries that the Outriders needed for their scouting today. The Mondstadter merchant bluntly told Eula to leave his store without listening to her reason. It was not that she had no money to pay, but they openly refused to accept it because she was of the Lawrence clan. Despite she explained that she was running errands for the captain, they were not very understanding or kind to her. They refused to listen to any of her reasons.

“How dare you. Hmph, I will remember this. Mark my words, this transgression would not go unnoticed!”

When conflict would arise, Eula replied with a sternly worded threat, and it worked miraculously in Eula’s favor. It was able to cease the conflict immediately without ever having to escalate to the level of an unnecessary confrontation that would be destructive to both sides. Despite she was warned by Amber and the captain that her speech would temporarily resolve her problem but certainly not in the long run if she planned to keep up with this. As people were staring at the store and Eula, the Mondstadter merchant reluctantly sold the materials to her to chase her out of his store.

“Y-You’re interfering with my business here! Fine, take it and just get out of here.”

He shoved random ingredients, a little bit of everything, before passing it to Eula aggressively. However, she did not get all of what she needed to purchase. She did not bother to pester any further as she knew that it would be futile. Even after two years, the people of Mondstadt knew that the Leader of the Outriders took her under his wings, the contempt and hostility towards her remained strong ever since she stepped her feet into Mondstadt.

“Oh hey, Eula!”

The cheerful brunette skipped over to her to assist her with carrying the bag of groceries. She certainly finished her part of the errands at swift and ease as she was loved by everyone in the city, unlike her. The citizens of the city watched them with a surprised look on their faces, it was such an irony how the most loved and despised one of Mondstadt became close friends with each other.

“So, you still have to get some crafting materials, I’ll help out then.”

“That would do wonderous. I did not even manage to purchase everything that the captain listed. We would most likely need to purchase the remainders from another store.”

If it were not for her captain’s orders, she would prefer to collect the ingredients and crafting materials in the wild by fighting off the monsters instead. It was less bothersome than to converse with the people of Mondstadt. Amber could see her friend was getting frustrated as she was exuding that stern unfriendly aura as well.

“I’ll come with you then! I’m sure it would be okay.”

“Isn’t that a little bit too obvious?”

Eula did not want to explain anything further. Everyone in Mondstadt practically loved and adored her like their own daughter. The only way that the young Lawrence would be able to purchase everything at ease was when she was with Amber. None of the people of Mondstadt would shunt her away in front of Amber. They arrived at another store and Eula sighed to herself quietly before approaching the merchant that immediately threw a glare at her the moment she stepped within her field of vision.

“We would like to purchase five potatoes and ten pieces of meat.”

“…That would be 1600 mora.”

It was obvious to Eula that the clerk was keeping her hostility in check in presence of Amber who was standing by her side. However, Eula still did not feel comfortable about this solution. This would not resolve her problem in the slightest. In fact, made it worse for herself. Furthermore, people would start to perceive her as someone that had to hide behind Amber to gain acknowledgment from the people of Mondstadt. The assertive estranged member of Lawrence would rather be hated for who she was than to receive an ingenuine gesture from them. Perhaps she still has that noble pride within her to resolve the problem with her strength rather than relying on other people’s help.

-

The two young girls finished their errands and headed back to meet with Amber’s grandfather that was waiting for them at the Lion of the South entrance. He was standing with his outrider mates before their presence swiftly caught his eyes.

“Welcome back, you two. Did you get everything on the list?”

“We did, grandpa!”

Amber skipped over to her beloved grandfather with a smile while Eula simply placed down the bags nearby without saying many words to him. The old man could easily pick up the hidden frustration behind her calm demeanor. It was a matter of time that her emotional turmoil would shatter her mask and take over her. People wondered why an old man like him would take Eula under his wings, but the reason was as solid as it could be to him. The two were similar, one an outcast of Liyue and the other an exile of Mondstadt. Despite the assertive complaints and opinions brought up regarding him taking in Eula as his student, he was not bothered by her origin of birth. He only saw a young kindhearted girl that was constantly being misunderstood for who she was.

“Eula, get ready. We’re going on a scout.”

Today was another day that the Outrider captain took Eula along with his scouting routine. Eula was able to join them due to her exceptional talent and skills as a swordswoman. It was not only just that she went through vigorous training by her family, but she was naturally gifted to become a good leader too. It was a matter of time he would have nothing left to teach Eula.

“Okay team, we will separate here and rejoin after two sunsets.”

“Yes sir.”

“Eula, you would come with me.”

“Right.”

Eula would always accompany the Outrider captain because he was the only one that would accept her. The only reason the members of the Outriders were not hostile towards her was due to the captain’s favor towards her. It was obvious she was his beloved student and close friends with Amber too. However, Eula could always see and feel overwhelming grudge and hatred directed towards her blood that ran inside her veins.

“Today we are going on a little bit of detour towards the Falcon Coast. A change in environment is always a good thing.”

“That doesn’t sound so bad. I cannot recall the last time I have seen the ocean.”

“Then today we will.”

They were heading to the east of Mondstadt towards the Falcon Coast. As Eula traveled with her teacher, she was constantly thinking about his teachings and how she could free herself from these shackles that were holding her down. Her master assisted Eula with their arrows to cover her back. She cut down each monster one by one until the coast was cleared. She collected the loots with her master and continued with their journey until they reached the Falcon Coast.

“Wow…”

Once they arrived at the coast, Eula stared out into the ocean and was completely mesmerized by it. The sound of the waves was exceptionally calming to her. It felt like it just washed away all her doubts and frustrations for a couple of seconds, and it was more than enough to make her feel like she was able to take a deep breath properly at ease.

“Today, we will be camping here.”

“Wait…So this was your plan, isn’t it?”

“We all do need a day off every now and then.”

It was not the Outrider captain’s intention to go on a scouting detour, but to prepare for this special outing by the coast for Eula. He wanted to take the young girl to take a breath of fresh air away from Mondstadt occasionally. They went on a casual hunt and caught some birds and boars to cook for tonight’s dinner. She could not remember the last time she had taken a relaxing day off like this. Eula was good with hunting and cooking after she had spent many nights outside the walls of Mondstadt because no one would sell food to her. It was not that she had no money, but they refused to accept and sell to her. She did not have an easy life ever since she stepped foot into Mondstadt. It has been a while she had a casual outing like this and reminded her of the times and how far she came for these past two years. After they had their dinner by the campfire while watching the sunset by the Falcon Coast, Eula was still occupied deep into her thoughts. Despite how strong she was, she was still a young teenage girl that could feel pain and frustration just like everyone else.

“Since we are on our day off and if you need to take a stroll around, you do not need to ask for my permission.”

It was as if he knew what she probably would do later tonight. Eula did not say a word and simply nodded with the utmost respect towards him. With the time she spent under the captain’s guidance, he was more like a father figure to her than her biological parents. She did not recall anything pleasant about the Lawrence house. Her parents, especially her father, cared about the revival of the clan and reclaiming their place as the ruling class of Mondstadt once again. Even without words, Eula genuinely had utmost respect towards him. He was the only person Eula felt comfortable to express her inner thoughts openly knowing he would listen to her.

“It is exhausting to tread between the cusp of two societies that neither one would accept me for who I am. At times, I wish I can just leave everything behind and depart somewhere far away that no one would know of my origin.”

“That is one of the viable options that one could take in like. As for myself, even I chose that path, and it works marvelously for me. Mondstadt became a place I can call home and a place where my lovely family is. However, you are more than aware that it would not solve the conflict in your heart, am I right? That’s why you never left and are still here in Mondstadt.”

“…”

The captain’s words hit on the bull’s eye. He was correct. Eula had the chance to depart somewhere far away from Mondstadt and where the shadows of the Lawrence clan could not reach her, yet she chose to remain here for all these years. Why did she not leave? It seemed she had the answer but was yet to admit it with open-mindedness. Amber’s grandfather knew why Eula remained here, but it would be meaningless if she did not figure it out herself.

“What you are doing is something truly admirable of your age. I have encountered countless people and not many people out there are capable to shoulder this much pressure as you do. You possessed the courage to shine radiantly and persistently despite the unfavorable environment you are in.”

“But then I know it is not enough. I still cannot conquer this turmoil inside my heart yet.”

“As long as you keep going, I believe you will reach your goal.”

Eula was hard on herself and believed she could have done better each time even though she had accomplished much more than anyone of her age. The turmoil inside her heart was still ongoing for these past years like an endless raging storm. She was treading on the cusp between both worlds that could not accept her. The incessant ideals and pursuits of the Lawrence Clan were something that she could not fully understand and saw the world differently from all her family members. The citizens from the city of freedom were still not able to forgive and move on from what the Lawrence clan had done to them. This was the kind of life she was born into as she had all odds against her.

“If I could not be on either side, then I wonder what would be of me?”

“That is what your whole journey is about. That is for you to discover, Eula.”

She had been asking herself this question for the past years. She knew of its existence yet lack the willpower to find the way out from this dark tunnel. She had a feeling the captain knew the answer but refused to speak with her about it, and she had no intention of asking him as well. Eula knew it would be fruitless if she could not figure it out and understand it herself.

“Do not forget, Eula. As the world changes around you, the only thing that remains perpetual is yourself.”

Her teacher’s words before they had their dinner rung deep inside her head. Those were his last words for the night, and he did not mention it ever again. Eula had a feeling that her teacher gave all the necessary tools and knowledge for her to conquer her inner turmoil already. All that was left was for her to face it directly.

-

That very night, Eula was able to only take some small naps after dinner and woke up in the middle of the night. No one knew what time it was, but she could see the captain resting against the boulder with his weapon next to him. She knew she could not go back to sleep and so she decided to take on a stroll down the Falcon coast at midnight. Certainly, she brought her sword to protect herself from any monster that was to ambush her. She took off her shoes and allowed her naked feet to contact the soft sandy shore. She felt her foot sinking in each step she took and the ice-cold seawater that washed over her feet in a rhythmic pattern. Despite there was no light of the city, her surrounding was dimly lit by the light of the full moon above her.

The sound of the waves washing up against the shore brought such comfort to her heart. It felt as if her frustration and grievance would be washed away as well. As she had her silent moment alone, she started remembering countless lessons from the captain who constantly told her how she was obsessed with grievance and vengeance. As she held onto those two, it became a drive for her to strive through each day without losing her sense of identity. At the same time, it became the chains that restrained her down as well.

“The true nature of the grievance… a dismal circumstance and an unfortunate past that can’t be redeemed?”

She thought to herself about circumstance as she strolled down the coast in the darkness. Her eyes kept staring out to the horizon of the dark sea before her while she thought to herself out loud. She could not escape the shadows of her clan and it was the one that tormented her endlessly. It was the source of her grievance. One could see that it was just an unfortunate circumstance that Eula, who has a gentle soul, was born as the scion of a corrupt aristocracy. After they were overthrown and quickly fell into obscurity over the next thousand years their flames of vengeance continued to flicker and burn but never again did it ignite into ablaze. Eula was the most gifted descendant of the clan who received immeasurable expectations from her family as she was growing up. She was subjected to an educational regime so unbelievably harsh that it was considered borderline abusive.

By the age of 13, Eula underwent the clan’s trial and passed with ease and took up the Glacial Seal of the Lawrence clan which was the highest martial symbol of the clan and represents the spirit of the Lawrence Clan. Right after that, she made one of the biggest decisions in life to depart with that badge of honor in her possession to Mondstadt and has contacted the clan little since. She held it forward right in front of her as she had thought about throwing it away countless times, yet something held her back from doing so.

With nowhere else to go, she wished to strive for her own “freedom” at the city of Mondstadt which is her homeland. Why did she not leave and go somewhere far away instead like others may have chosen to do? Eula was not the kind of person that would take the easy way to resolve her circumstances. She knew if she were to do so, then she would have to run away from her family and Mondstadt for the rest of her life. She refused to live that kind of life. That is why she is still here fighting to prove herself. However, she could not help but felt the shackles restraining her down. Eula knew it was their way to have their revenge on the Lawrence clan. Unable to see past her family, they did not actually see Eula for herself. As the eldest scion of the tyrannical clan of historical infamy, she constantly had the target on her back. That was how Eula Lawrence became the center of people’s resentments and hostility.

“Vengeance, it is just to obtain satisfaction or to drive one’s foe into a chasm of agony?”

Eula could not understand the ideologies of her family that they tried to instill into her. Reclaiming the clan’s past glories, winning the awe of the common folks, standing once more at the apex of rulership, all of that was utterly unimportant to Eula’s eyes. She experienced the age of glory as they always spoke of and never understood her family's incessant pursuit of it. She attempted to free herself from these shackles for all these years. She tried to prove and again yet struggled to obtain the acknowledgment of others.

“…Is it asking too much to pursue my freedom?”

She bit her lips and felt the overwhelming grieve struck her along with the sounds of the waves crashing against the coast. Her eyes started to tear up, but she remained as composed as much as she could. Eula could not remember the last time she allowed emotions to be expressed like this. Thankfully, no one was there to witness her vulnerable side right now. Once she shed that first tear, she knew that it would not be the last tear for tonight. It seemed she had reached her limits to carry everything upon her shoulders. It was a raging storm that crashed right into her, and she knew that having these countless impetuous thoughts would do no good to her. It was a temptation to leave everything behind and move far away from everything. But that was not the solution Eula strived for all these years.

“D-Darn it…! It is so…suffocating!”

She felt like she was drowning in her own grievance and was about to lose her breath. It was painful and just overwhelmingly suffocating. She had been holding back all her emotions this entire time and all came back to her at this very moment to drown her to death. At that instance she was so close to surrender to her own inner turmoil, she recalled the captain’s words that strictly reminded her to embrace her emotions and let everything flow through her.

“All I ever wanted is just to be free from these shackles!!”

Those were the words that were locked deep inside her heart. As she uttered it out from her lips, she burst into tears. The emotions started to flood out from her rapidly…but then she allowed it to go wild. For all these years, she did not want to face the fact that she was just desperate for the freedom to fly. She despised being born as a member of the Lawrence clan. She could not remember how many times she thought of life if she were to be born as an ordinary Mondstadter. She knew it was pointless and childish to have those thoughts, but she cannot deny it never crossed her mind before.

-CRASH-

Eula was startled by the loud crashing wave against the cliff nearby the coast. That brought her mind back to reality once again. Just earlier it felt like a whirlpool that was devouring her into the depths of darkness, but the storm had ended. As she came to embrace her raw emotions, she felt oddly calm as if this was the calm after the storm. She wiped her tears with the family crest in her hand. She slowly looked up into the dark starry sky and it was just only herself left after the storm of emotions went by. It felt something clicked inside her and she stood up before she walked up towards the horizon. Something clicked in her mind and she recited the words of her teacher out loud to herself in her own version.

“...As the world changes around you, as emotions wash over, the only thing that remains perpetual is oneself. No matter how big the tides can be, nothing changes who I am.”

As she allowed her emotions to pass through her, she was the only one left standing there. It was a revelation to her. Her grievance and vengeance ignited the flames inside her in a way it never happened before. She began asking herself, why must she become what they visioned her to be? She started to come to a revelation that she was not obligated to become anyone that both the Lawrence clan and the people of Mondstadt envisioned her to be. Just the thought of conforming to their views made the flames inside her burned even stronger and brighter.

“I have no reason to conform myself…for anyone.”

Before grievance and vengeance, before clan and outsider, one must find "oneself" first. That was what her master meant this entire time. If she always has her eyes on the truth which is oneself, then nothing will make her waver anymore. She wiped her tears and felt this huge sense of liberation. The shackles that chained her down were the emotions that she harbored for all these years. Her realization had disintegrated them away and it was the first time she tasted her true “freedom”.

“I am Eula Lawrence, the bearer of the Lawrence family crest and this is my own path to take. Call it grievance, name it vengeance, that does not change how it is are part of who I am.”

Eula vowed to remember this grievance that tormented her and that one day those that misjudged her would pay for it. She will prove all of them wrong and make them respect her with unwavering perseverance. She could not deny her own ancestry, thus she would embrace it head-on in her own way. She would no longer tiptoeing around everyone all the time and just get out there and make them respect me the old-fashioned way. She vowed to see it through to the end.

“Challenging ordeals head-on with unwavering perseverance is how I prefer to settle with all my matters. This will be my path to revenge.”

Her grievance and vengeance became her strength and a reminder to always be herself no matter what happened. She must live her life with open-mindedness and down-to-earth persistence that she had not possessed before meeting with Amber’s grandfather. Before she realized it, a smile appeared across her face as she found the answer she had been looking for.

“So, this is what freedom feels like… I will not forget nor look away anymore, and vengeance will be mine.”

She found her own gentle path of revenge with the freedom she attained with her strength. She was then greeted with the sunrise at the horizon of the ocean. It signified a new beginning for Eula. While she was admiring the beauty of the sunrise, she caught a spark from the corner of her eye. She saw a sparkling object washed onto the coast and went to pick it up. The beautiful light blue crystal orb in her hands caught her attention with that familiar symbol she had witnessed from the books.

It was a Cryo Vision.

She had seen one prior to this encounter and it was glowing radiantly in her hand. It felt as if it was telling Eula that she was the rightful owner and it now belonged to her. She wondered if the god heard her declaration and acknowledged her unwavering resolution to walk on this path of revenge. Nevertheless, what the gods had decided was a trivial matter to her at this point because it would not change her path. If it was bestowed to her, then she would gladly accept it.

“...Very well then, I will gladly accept it and exact my revenge with it.”

-

She walked back to the camp where the captain was waiting for her return. At that moment, he realized the vibe she exuded changed drastically. It was as if she was reborn as a different individual. He could see that her eyes were no longer clouded by confusion anymore before he let out a smile of relief. Even more, she was holding a glowing vision in her hand as well. He did not need to answer her to know if she found her answer. His young student had finally freed herself from the shackles she created to chain her down. Her circumstance was something that could not be changed, but Eula decided to let it influence her destructively or not.

They returned to Mondstadt to meet with Amber that was impatiently waiting for their arrival. To everyone’s surprise, she brought back a Cyro vision on her journey as well. That was the beginning of a new chapter in Eula’s life. Nothing could waver her anymore. However, her time with the captain ended abruptly after a year. He disappeared without a trace and left nothing behind to his family, which left Amber heartbroken. Nevertheless, Eula held his teachings closely to her heart and continued down the path of revenge.

Years later down the line, she was then recruited to join the Knights of Favonius by Grand Master Varka and Jean due to her sheer talents. Eula realized that this was the way she could exact her revenge, which was to become part of the Knights of Favonius. It certainly did cause a major uproar within Mondstadt and the Lawrence clan as expected. The civilians signed petitions to demand the knights to reverse their decision. She was officially being declared a traitor and a disgrace to the family. With her consummate skills, she was able to obtain captaincy in just a few years of joining the ranks. Nevertheless, her determination was unwavering.

With her well-versed in strategy and possesses great courage and excellent intuition, that was how she was appointed as the captain of Reconnaissance Company and the knights under her division had nothing but unconditional respect towards Eula. Through time, she gradually proved herself from time to time as being the respectable Knight of Favonius and a law-abiding citizen that has never harmed another Mondstadter in her life.

-

Back to the present time, today was another long yet special day on duty as the Captain of Reconnaissance company as she encountered and made a new friend with an intriguing traveler with who she developed a strong enmity. They resolved Uncle Schubert’s schemes to bring threat to Mondstadt and he would certainly pay for what he had done. After she handed the diagram back to the Acting Grand Master and completed her assigned tasks, she left Mondstadt and went over to the Falcon Coast.

“It has been a while since I have returned to this place.”

Her heated exchange with Uncle Schubert made her reminisced about her younger years before she received a cyro vision at this very place. She bought a Dandelion wine prior to her departure and had a drink by herself at the very same spot she freed herself from the shackles. It has been five years since that day and she came a long way, yet still also a long way to go. She conjured her family crest in her hands with her cyro vision as a reminder of how she would always have the scion of the Lawrence clan regardless of her family’s acknowledgment.

“As a descendant of the fallen ancestry, I alone must break free from the chains of revenge...”

She shattered the Glacial Seal within her hands and looked up at the full moon before her. Before she could enjoy the night by herself, an unexpected guest arrived to join her. As she turned, she met with Lumine and Paimon that seemed to be looking for her everywhere. They got the leads from Jean that they would find her here.

“Certainly, you must have a reason to come this far to search for me. What brings you here?”

“That’s right! We brought something nice for you!”

They prepared something for her and to her surprise, it was one of her favorite dishes as well. With the help of Amber, Lumine prepared chilled tomato and aspic jelly egg roll pairs. They wanted to thank Eula for helping them with their investigation until the very end and both were grateful for it. After they separated at the Fatui’s hideout, they met with Amber and asked what they could make for Eula and learned about her favorite dish. Lumine did her absolute best to replicate this delicacy to thank the Spindrift Knight.

“I’m not sure the flavor would match with your palate or not so I hope that it would be to your liking.”

This was not something Eula was expecting and she was very touched by their appreciation of her service. However, the Spindrift Knight was not the type to openly admit to it. She coughed before she gave her usually a stern response to them. She would always be quite dishonest when it comes to receiving gifts or compliments from others.

“So, you have learned of my favorite treat behind my back without my approval, brought an unauthorized delicacy, and relentlessly giving me more cause of vengeance. Hmph! Mark my words, this transgression will not go unnoticed.”

“I look forward to it. Paimon also heard that you make an amazing moon pie from Amber!”

Amber told them how talented she was as a chef which made the Reconnaissance company had the best field rations in the Knights of Favonius, which was the moon-shaped pie. After hearing that, Paimon was overly interested to try that out for once, and hearing that made Eula cracked up into laughter.

“Haha! So, you have presented me your gift to make demands for my signature delicacy? I admire that audacity of yours. Just wait for it, I will exact my vengeance and the right place and time.”

“We are looking forward to that!”

Paimon and Lumine smiled back at Eula and she was grateful for this special encounter with the traveler from an unknown land. She invited them to join for a drink with her and they accepted the offer without hesitation. She got to listen to Lumine’s journey across Mondstadt and Liyue so far. With this destined confrontation, she gained a new arch-enemy that gained their position on top of her list of vengeance. She thought to herself that if she was able to clear her list of vengeance, then she may consider traveling around Teyvat and explore the world out there. She felt that it would be an interesting journey if she could venture around the world with the young traveler.

“Maybe that wouldn’t sound so bad…”

“Hm? Did you say something, Eula?”

“Nothing. I am just thinking to myself. Let us return to Mondstadt before it starts getting late.”

The Spindrift Knight smiled to herself and had no intention to share what she was thinking. Certainly, she could die out of embarrassment if she were to be upfront honest with it. There may be a day that she would speak honestly, but not now and not today. As she accompanied the traveler and Paimon back to Mondstadt. They had their friendly exchange with each other on the way and Eula appreciated Lumine and Paimon immensely for coming over to find her with her favorite treat. Even though it was a short-lived journey she shared with them, she looked forward to their next encounter in the near future.

Once again, thank you for your time and I hope you enjoyed it somehow! :)
