We are divorcing you

Summary:

Basically, this is the plot of Grace and Frankie but Narusasu.
Naruto and Sasuke have been cheating on their loving spouses with each other for years, and after they reached the ripe old age of 40 they decided to end this lie and be together for real.

Notes:

I was hit with this idea a couple days ago and couldn't stop thinking about it. I had to get it out. Also, I decided they come out way earlier than Sol and Robert did on the show, because, you know, in an age where war was going on not long ago I have no reason to believe life expectancy would be very long. Sasuke and Naruto knew this would happen eventually, but they could not wait any longer after hitting 40.
I don't know if I'll continue this, it may very well just end here. I'd greatly appreciate your feedback on this, this is the first fic I am properly putting out here!
And oh, no beta. No one is even aware of the existence of this fic yet. English is my second language, so please excuse any mistakes I might have overlooked during editing.

Work Text:

Silence was tangible at the dinner table. The food was untouched, although still steaming.

“We have something to tell you.” said Naruto, breaking the silence.
All three turned to him.
He reached over the table to hold Sasuke’s hand.
“Sasuke and I are in love, and we want to spend the rest of our lives together.”

Sakura dropped the napkin she was holding, although her face was expressionless like a stone. Sasuke was avoiding looking at her. Deep down he knew Sakura knew since long ago, and didn’t want to see that written all over her face.

Hinata on the other hand, was completely crushed. With tears in her eyes, she stormed out of the room. Sasuke gave Naruto a hand squeeze to stop him from following her. The conversation here was still not over.
Sakura asked “For how long?”
Naruto looked at him as if suggesting it was his turn to talk. That was how they planned it back on the rooftop of the Hokage office.
“We have always loved each other, whether knowingly or not.”
“You know damn well that this is not what I meant, Sasuke.”
Sasuke looked away. He did not have an answer to that, or he did but he couldn’t bring himself to speak it.
Naruto stepped in, “It started when we came over with Hinata for Sarada’s first birthday.”
Sakura was looking at Sasuke the whole time, to catch a glimpse of emotion slip. All she could see was layers of pain, but mixed in with relaxation. It was the same kind of relaxation you’d feel after a mercy kill.
“On our daughter’s first birthday? Sasuke, you are a monster.”
“I am so-”
Naruto squeezed his hand hard to stop him from finishing his sentence, to let Sakura continue.
“I believed that you could change and be a good man for once. I believed you would start to be more affectionate with me after we had a child. You went right the opposite way, and on the day of our daughter’s birthday, no less.” Sakura stood up, putting both her fists on the table and leaning over Sasuke. “You are dead to me.”
With that, she left.
Naruto and Sasuke was left alone in the summerhouse once again, this time not having to lie about it. They looked at each other, thinking the same thing. They did it. They left their doting wives and loving families, for a future together.
