Chapter 1: Harry's letter
Chapter Text
Ron sat on his bed, his blue eyes bloodshot from his crying. Ginny's words repeating over and over inside his head, he would've forgiven Hermione for snogging Krun but he didn't know if he could forgive her for lying to him. Even worse, apparently everybody knew except for him.
"Why would anyone tell you? You're nothing but an annoying emotional fuck up. No wonder Hermione doesn't love you"
"Why did you tell him?" Asked Hermione. Her voice filled with betrayal and anger.
"It was an accident" Ginny defended herself.
"No, you did that on purpose" Hermione responded.
"Hermione please-
" No, Harry" Hermione interrupted "Don't defend her here. Ginny I get that you were angry but telling Ron a secret that I told you in confidence isn't an accident"
"Stop putting the blame on me, Ron was being a git"
"Oh right, so he insults you once and that already means you can tell him my secrets. Ginny how about you think for once of someone else's feelings instead of yours?"
The voice inside his head boomed, he was used to it, he had been hearing it since he can remember for Merlin's pants, but it was louder thatn ever. He had tried everything to shut it up but he just couldn't, no matter how many times he didn't sleep, how many times he did, how many times he skipped every meal of the day. Nothing would shut it up, no matter how hard he cried. He didn't worry about how loud his sobs were, nobody would show up for him, nobody ever showed up for him. He had stopped eating a week ago! And nobody asked if he was okay, if he had eaten anything that day! No one worried.
"Girls!" Harry interrupted "I'm also angry but can we please stop? I'm worried for Ron"
"Harry I already told you, he did this all the time. He gets upset, doesn't eat for a while, goes back to eating, he'll be okay" Ginny answered.
"Of course they don't worry, they're glad you stopped eating like a beast. They're happy that they don't have to stand all the sounds you make when you eat. They're happy you're finally not that gross anymore"
The voice spoke again. Ron knew he was difficult, he knew it was difficult to get used to his annoyance, he knew it was difficult to stand him when he was annoying, he knew he was difficult to like; but why was it so difficult for someone or something to care? He didn't expect Hermione or Ginny or Fred or George or Percy to worry or care about him, but Harry? Why did Harry also leave him? Why couldn't anyone stay and love him? The only person who did was Lavender and now he was being a git, he kept hurting her over and over and she stayed with him.
"You know what? I'll go and look for him" He stood up from his seat. Only to be stopped by Hermione
"Harry, I'm also worried, but you know Ron. When he's upset, he needs some alone time"
"Because you're still here!" The voice screamed "From the minute you were born you've been unlovable, I mean seriously, your mother never loved you, your father doesn't love you, your brothers never loved you, your sister doesn't love you. What made you think anyone here would love you? You're existence causes people to hurt, your birth hurt your mother's soul and you still wonder why she doesn't love you? . And let's be honest, when you're gone, nobody will care. Your family will and can replace you with Harry, Hermione already has Krum, Harry has many more friends that are better than you. How about you just make them a favour?"
The voice taunted and tempted him. Ron thought of it, he imagined himself finally dying... And he felt relief. He felt as if the weight on his shoulders was lifted, he felt himself be able to finally breath.
"No" A weaker voice spoke "If you're not here, who will take care of Harry?"
It desperately asked. But Ron couldn't hear it, the sheer thought of breathing already caused agony in his heart. He sobbed and went to his drawer, getting out a bunch of letters. He started writing those letters as a way to express his feelings, he obviously kept them far away from everyone, he could already imagine what Ginny, Fred and George would do if they found out. But he didn't care now, where he was going, nothing could hurt him. He took the letter directed to Harry and left it on his bed.
"Dobby!" He called. Suddenly, Dobby was there. Wearing a bunch of socks as a hat, shoes and gloves.
"Hello Harry's Wheezy!" He happily said "Are you okay? Are you hurt?" He asked. Ron winced when he heard him call him by his nickname.
"I'm... Gonna be fine, I promise. I, uhm, wanted to ask you a favor"
"What do you need?" He asked.
"I need you to leave these notes on the beds of the people who's name is written on them. Do you know where my family is?" Ron asked, as he wasn't sure if Dobby knew.
"Of course! I've been keeping an eye on Mr Potter since I met him!" He happily exclaimed "Should I tell them you wrote them?" He asked as he took the letters.
"No!" Ron fastly added "No, just, leave them there. And please don't tell me when you're done okay? I wanna be alone for a while" He didn't want Dobby to see him before passing.
"Of course Mr Weasley! Get well soon" He waved and then, disappeared.
"I don't care if he wants to be alone, I'll go get him" Harry said, annoyed at Hermione and Ginny.
He walked out of the Great Hall, ignoring the calls of Hermione and Ginny. He didn't care if they got angry, he needed to be there for Ron, the same way Ron was always there for him.
Ron gave a shaky breath and walked out, not bothering to make sure his robes were presentable. He walked through the halls and hidden passageways, smiling at the ghosts he crossed, he even smiled at Peeves, if he was going to join them, he should start making friends. He walked until he got to the prefects bathroom. He walked into the empty bathroom and started filling up the giant bathtub, his tears contributing to the warm water filling up.
Harry walked into the empty common room and walked down the stairs to the boys dorm rooms, calling out for Ron. When he walked into the room, he found it empty. No Ron on the bed or anywhere really, the most worrisome part was the letter sitting on his bed. He had heard about those letters back in Privet Drive, his old neighbors had a son who committed suicide, and he remembers aunt Petunia saying how he left a letter on their neighbors bed. With fear running through his veins, he picked the letter up and opened it.
Dear Harry.
If you're reading this letter, then that means that I did something way to horrible. Harry, you've been the brother I've always wanted, ever since we met I knew you would be the best thing to ever happen to me. You brought me incredible happiness, and all I gave you back was pain. So Harry, I'm so sorry for what I accused you of, you never doubted me and all I did was doubt you the second your name was announced by the Goblet. I shouldn't have waited until you fought the dragon to apologize, I should've been better, but I couldn't. I'm sorry for ruining your social life in Hogwarts, you came here hoping to find real friends, and I made everyone see you as a waste of time. I'm so sorry for ruinig your life. But I'll make it up to you. I promise.
Love you forever, Ron
As Ron waited for the bathtub to fill, he heard Myrtle's cries. The ghost appeared out of one of the stalls, her eyes staring at him.
"What are you doing?" She asked
"None of your business Myrtle" Groaned Ron. Even if he knew he needed friends in the after life, he would never be Myrtle's friend, not even dead.
"Ugh, I don't get why you're so mean to me" She moaned, as usual "I never did anything. Now tell me, wheeping boy, what's wrong?"
"I TOLD YOU IT'S NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS, LEAVE ME ALONE" He screamed.
Myrtle cried as she descended into the toilet, leaving Ron finally alone. The bathtub was finally full, he stripped off to his underwear and walked into it, his skin turning red from the hot water. His wand was in his hand, he pointed it at his left wrist first and mumbled "Diffindo" A cut appeared in his wrist, Ron bit his lip to stop his scream of pain to come out. He shakily grabbed his wand and pointed it at his right wrist and mumbled again "Diffindo", this time he felt blood filling his mouth as he bit his lip.
Harry's eyes were filled with tears, desperation filled him up. He dropped the letter and ran up the stairs, he walked out and found Hermione and Ginny, looking confused, however that expression was changed to one of fear and worry when they saw his face.
"Harry what happened?" Hermione asked.
"No time, Ron" He answered between sobs as he dodged them and fled to the halls.
Outside he found Nick speaking with the Fat Friar. He ran up to them, not bothering to even say hello when they said it. The only thing he said was "where's Ron?", while they both were known for correcting people's in their manners, the look of desperation in Harry's eyes was enough for them to respond.
"I think he went to the Prefects bathroom" The Fat Friar answered.
Harry immediately ran towards the Prefects bathroom, Hermione and Ginny trailing behind him, asking him what happened over and over again. Harry however, didn't answer, Ron was the only person in his mind. He finally could see the door of the bathroom.
"Hermione the password!!" He screamed the second Hermione and Ginny got to him.
"Harry what is-
"NO TIME, JUST SAY THE BLOODY PASSWORD!!!" He screamed again, Hermione flinched before giving a sigh.
"Cherry blossom" She stuttered, and the door opened.
Ron felt himself go lighter and lighter as the blood spilled out of his body and turned the water red. He slowly closed his eyes as a smile formed on his face. The last thing he heard, was his name.
"RON!" Harry screamed as he saw Ron, floating in the red bathtub, his wrist slit.
"OH MY GOD" Screamed Hermione as she covered her mouth, Ginny stood frozen in the doorframe.
"HERMIONE HELP ME TAKE HIM TO POMFREY" Harry desperately cried as he dragged Ron's body out of the bathtub by himself. Hermione and Ginny quickly ran to him.
"Oh my God Ron Ron Ron no please no, please please please don't do this to me" Hermione repeated between cries, her breath shaking as she held Ron's arm.
"GINNY TELL POMFREY TO PREPARE FOR RON. NOW!" Harry screamed and Ginny ran out the bathroom and down to the first floor of the medical tower.
Hermione and Harry dragged Ron's body as they sobbed and cried, begging Ron to stay with them. They were in the stairs of the fourth floor when Pomfrey and McGonagall ran up to them. McGonagall gasped and covered her mouth as she layed her eyes on Ron's bloody body, Pomfrey quickly set Ron on a stretcher and levitated him into the Hospital Wing. They tried to walk in too but were stopped by the door closing in their face.
"What? Why can't we go with him?!" Asked Hermione.
"Miss Granger, Pomfrey needs to work only thinking of Ron, if you're there you'll distract her" McGonagall said, while she tried to remain calm, she was clearly upset "What happened to Mr Weasley?" She asked, looking at the three crying teens.
Chapter Text
Harry sat on the bench outside the Hospital wing, his green eyes staying on the same place, staring at his bloody hands, McGonagall had just sent the owls to the Weasley family to inform them of his situation.
"Where is he!?" Lavender Brown's voice boomed through the hallway as she ran towards them "Where is Won-Won? What happen—" Her eyes stopped on Hermione "What are you doing here?" She asked, putting an emphasis in you.
"Visiting my friend who almost died" Hermione spat.
"Oh right, now you care about him" Lavender said.
"I've always cared about him" Hermione spoke, getting closer to Lavender.
"Oh right, you really cared for him when you attacked him with birds. Everybody knows that shows how close you are to people"
"You did what!?" Ginny exclaimed.
"That was–"
"What? A moment of anger? An accident? A one time thing?" Lavender interrupted "I know you think of me and every other girl as inferior, Granger, but at least I know one thing; having a crush on a guy doesn't mean he's yours, I at least had the courage to be honest and confess, unlike you who went and kissed an older guy to make him jealous and then proceeds to treat Ron like less than Dragon dung for saying he finds a girl attractive"
"Hermione what does she mean about the bird attack?" Ginny asked, her mind repeating the words of Lavender.
"I-I-I was jealous and–"
"And you attacked my brother?!" Ginny interrupted "What the fuck Hermione!? Yet you still had the hypocrisy to criticize me?"
"Oh please as if you were good with him! You treated Ron like he was inferior, not a surprise considering you treat everyone around you like your minions"
"As much as I enjoy you guys finally coming to terms with your actions" Pomfrey interrupted "I must inform you that Mr Weasley is better now, still unstable, but better than before. And your screaming will not help in the healing process"
"Sorry" The three girls said.
Rushed steps were heard through the halls as Mr and Mrs Weasley ran towards them, followed closely by Bill, Fleur, Charlie, Fred, George and Percy. Molly ran towards Harry and immediately hugged him.
"Harry darling I'm so sorry" She cried.
Harry was taken a back, he wasn't the one that almost died, he wasn't the one that almost committed died, why was she sorry for him?.
"Molly" Called Pomfrey behind them.
"Poppy" Molly said, standing up and turning to Pomfrey.
"How is Ron?" Asked Percy.
"He's unstable, he lost a lot of blood, if it wasn't for Miss Granger, Miss Weasley and Mr Potter, he wouldn't have made it through"
"Can we come in to see him?" Arthur asked.
"Of course, however it won't be too longs, as I've contacted St Mungo, they have more diverse and the proper materials to aid Ronald" Pomfrey spoke.
The Weasleys, plus Harry, Hermione and Lavender, walked into the room. Molly choked as she layed eyes on Ron's body, his wrists were covered in bandages, his skin looked as pale as snow, his freckles had disappeared. Molly threw her arms around Arthur as she cried, Arthur staring in shock at Ron. The five brithers walked towards Ron's bed, Bill and Charlie were on his left and Fred and George were on his right. They couldn't believe Ron had reached such a point in his life that he had tried to end it all, they should've been better brothers for him, but how could have they been better brothers? They had their own lives and couldn't check up on everyone.
Arthur suddenly frowned, his eyes looking at the tiny cuts on Ron's face.
"Did Ron have those cuts on his face before the accident?" He asked.
Suddenly everyone realized that Ron did, indeed, have cuts on his face. Those cuts were on his arms too, but they looked weird, while they didn't know why, Harry knew it was because of the canaries pecking some pieces of Ron's skin and flesh off. Hermione looked regretful as Lavender and Ginny glared at her.
"Why don't we ask Hermione? After all she always has the answers" Ginny said.
All eyes were on Hermione, which made her more nervous. They looked at Hermione, confused as to how she knew about it, but Hermione kept quiet, not looking at anyone else.
"Ugh" Ginny groaned "She did that" She exclaimed.
"What!?" Exclaimed Bill,
"It's not what you think!" Hermione said.
"Yes it is" Lavender interfered "You attacked him because he decided to date someone else instead of be behind you waiting for you to give him a chance"
"Don't play innocent Lavender, the only reason you dated Ron is because he became popular" Hermione responded.
Lavender squinted her eyes and glared at Hermione.
"You really think the only good thing in Ron is his popularity?" She asked "You think that nobody sees his loyalty? His sympathy? The way he cares and protects everyone he loves? You've known him longer than I hace and you can't think of ONE good thing about him?" Lavender asked getting louder and louder at every word.
Hermione took her wand out and pointed it at Lavender, her wand was quickly taken away from her by George using Expelliarmus.
"Really? You attack my brother and now you attack his girlfriend?" He asked.
"Oh of course, now you care about Ron. It only took a near death experience for you to suddenly decide to be good to Ron" Hermione said.
"We're good brothers" Fred spoke.
"Oh really? You burned a hole through his tongue, you tricked him into almost making a pact that would kill him of he didn't do it, you constantly put him down and make fun of him, you literally belittled him when he became a prefect. But now I'm the bad guy in the story?" Hermione asked, clearly throwing the twins off.
"Even I bothered congratulating him about it" Percy said.
"Yeah, and then you tried to manipulate him into leaving Harry, you aren't innocent Percy" Fred said.
"And how does it feel knowing that the evil brother is a better brother than you?" Peecy asked.
"Lay off Percy, you treated all of us horribly"
"You treated 'im 'orrible too Ginny, cut the falsehood" Fleur said in her throaty voice "You took every chance to 'umiliate Ron 'een front of everyone, put 'im down, you're just as bad as the tweens and Percy. The only difference is Percy never treated me 'orrible, unlike most of you"
"Don't talk to my daughter like that" Molly snarled.
"Don't talk to my fiancee like that!" Bill interfered.
"You're betraying your mother for her" She said, as if saying Fleur's name would kill her.
"I can't betray someone who has never been on my side, and she has a name and is Fleur."
"I'm your mother!"
"And all you ever do is criticize my life choices! I'm an adult mom! You don't get to choose what I do with my hair or body or who I can date and who I can't date. I love Fleur and she loves me too, and unlike you, she has never once told me that I looked like a homeless man or a criminal. The reason you're upset is because I actually like who I am and don't beg you for acceptance"
"William!" Arthur exclaimed, hugging the now crying Molly "Do not talk to your mother like that!"
"Oh of course, only jump in to defend your wife. Don't bother defending your kids, don't bother defending Charlie and I when mom shames our appearance, don't defend Fred and George when mom shames them on their dream. And even worst, don't bother caring for Percy or Ron, when was the last time any of you bothered asking Ron how he was?"
Silence filled the room as they realized that, they indeed have never asked Ron how he felt.
"That's what I thought" Bill said
"What about you? You haven't spoken to us for years" George pointed out.
"Maybe because I was stupid enough to assume one of you would bother taking care of Ron the same way I took care of you guys, but clearly I was wrong. Besides, the few times I visit I bother asking Ron how he is. I know more about Ron than all of you combined, because unlike you, I bother asking and I bother listening to him"
Yelling filled the room, looking for someone to point the finger at to blame for this. Harry sat silently staring at Ron, his best friend, his brother, had almost killed himself. Guilt was eating up Harry's insides, Ron had been there for him almost always, he had only stopped talking to him back in fourth year. And Harry didn't bother asking how he felt, he hadn't bothered telling Ron how amazing he was, how loved he eas, how much he meant to him. Not because he didn't care, but because he never understood why Ron felt he was always the last one to be picked, after all, Ron would always be Harry's first choice, he choose him to be his brother, his friend, his hero. The voices around him didn't help these feelings of guilt, he had finally had enough.
"Shut the fuck up!" He screamed, standing up and turning to the shocked people behind him "We're all to blame here! You were horrible people with him!" He pointed at Ginny, Fred and George "You didn't bother giving him some more attention and love!" He pointed at Molly and Arthur "You should've written more!" He pointed at the three oldest brothers "And you were a horrible friend to him!" He pointed at Hermione "I was a terrible friend! We all fucked up, but how about we stay thankful that Ron is alive and that this is probably a second chance to actually treat him as a aperson instead of treating him like shit!" He screamed at last, before falling on his chair, sobbing.
After the Mediwizards took Ron to St Mungo's, Harry went to his bedroom, it was late at night and nobody had seen them carry Ron into the Infirmary, he assumed the news would be known by tomorrow. He washed his bloody hands and sat on his bed, the curtains drawn around him as he casted the silencing charm. As he didn't want to wake anyone up woth his crying. Suddenly, a loud 'crack' was heard, as Dobby was now on his bed.
"Dobby? What are you doing here?" Harry asked.
"D-Dobby wanted to ap-apologize to Mr Harry Potter" He said, Harry noticed he had been crying "F-For what happened to your Wheezy"
"Dobby, I appreciate it, but you don't have to apologize–"
"I-I do" Dobby interrupted him "Harry's Wheezy had asked me to send all the letters he had written, he told me to put them on the beds of the people they were written to. He then told Dobby he was happy that Mr Harry Potter had Dobby. Dobby should've realized something was wrong" He cried loudly as he turned to one of the bedposts "Stupid Dobby. Stupid Dobby. Stupid Dobby" He said as he banged his head against the bedposts, just like he used to do back when Harry met him.
Harry jumped out and grabbed Dobby, clutching him as he sobbed onto him.
"N-No Dobby, it wasn't your fault" He said as he sonned louder, Dobby's hand travelling to his hair, ruffling his hair softly as they both cried on Harry's bed.
Chapter 3: Hermione's letter
Chapter Text
The next morning, word had spread faster than dragon fire, Hermione had been in the room of requirements since they left the hospital wing, she couldn't handle being in the same room as Lavender and Ginny wouldn't talk to her. She hadn't slept at all, only read books and did her homework, the only things that would distract here at the moment.
By the time she finished all the homework for the week, she wondered whether or not leaving the room was a good idea, Harry and Ginny weren't talking to her and she didn't have that many more friends, after all these years she was still bad at making friends. She sighed sadly before sitting down in a more comfortable position, hearing a sligt rustling under her, she touched her pockets and felt something stiff, Ron's letter.
When she went back to the dorms she only grabbed all the books she needed and tried to head out, but she stoped when she found a letter in her bed, she took it and read the lettering, it was clearly Ron's writing. Judging by Lavender's sobs, she also had a letter. She was scared of opening the letter, she knew that when someone attempted suicide and left a note or a letter, it meant that the letter would be a goodbye not. She didn't want to read Ron's goodbye, but she also wanted to see whether Ron forgave her or not, not just for the canaries but for everything she did, calling him stupid, treating him like less than nothing when they were in first year, everything she ever did. Everything she did and never apologized for. With a deep breath, she opened the Letter.
Dear Hermione,
Since you're reading this letter, then that must mean that I took the final step. I want you to know, that this isn't your fault or Harry's fault or anyone's fault. This was all on me, I wasn't strong enough to beat those voices, I wasn't strong enough to stay. I want to apologize, for everything I've ever said and done, I'm sorry for saying you were a nightmare back in first year, for not being there to protect you from the Basilisk in our second year, for insulting you in our third year and I'm sorry for trying to force you to tell me whether you snogged Viktor or not in fourth year. It's none of my business whether or not you love someone else, we weren't and aren't together, and telling you you couldn't be with anyone else was a massive jerk move. I know, I'm not with you now, but I hope I don't stop you from being happy. Keep being the best at everything, keep being that girl that loved learning, keep being the girl who punches Malfoy when he's being a dick, keep being you, Hermione. I also, didn't want to go, without telling you that I love you, I've loved you since our second year. I know it must be an even bigger dicj move to tell you I love you when I'm not there to be rejected, but I couldn't go without telling you. Goodbye, Hermione Granger.
With all my love, Ron Weasley
Hermione's tears stained the letter, Ron had almost killed himself and had the nerve to blame himself? It wasn't his fault, it was Molly's and Arthur's fault for not being there for him. What kind of parent hugs most of their children and doesn't hug the one who almost was killed?! What kind of siblings humiliate their brother to the point of making him deel unloved and unwanted? It wasn't Ron's fault, it was Molly's fault, Arthur's fault, Bill's fault, Charlie's fault, Percy's fault, Fred's fault, George's fault, Ginny's fault, it was also
Her fault, she had hurt Ron so much that he was unable to see how much she loved him, she insulted him so much he thought she would be better off without him, she had ruined every chance she had with Ron.
"You blithering idiot" Cried Hermione as she fell "I-I'm sorry, Ron" She sobbed, suddenly, she felt the dam break, and all her tears streamed down her face.
It was almost dusk when Hermione exited the room of requirements, her eyes were as red as Ron's hair, she did her best to avoid everyone, she did her best not to cry when people looked at her with pity in their eyes. She walked through the halls, wanting to go to Hagrid, the only person who would calm her when she was hurt and Harry and Ron weren't there.
"Oi mudloob" A voice called, Hermione sighed tired as she turned to face Pansy Parkinson.
"What do you want Parkinson?" Hermione asked.
"Nothing, I just wanted to come and give you my condolences, it must be hard. You know, being a burden to your family in both life and death, Ron was so selfish killing himself, does he even know that his family can't afford a cof–"
But Pansy couldn't finish mocking Hermione, as Hermione's fist met her face. She didn't have time to reciver before Hermione launched at her and pushed her to the ground, getting on top of her and punchinng her. A crowd had formed around them, all of them to scared to separate Hermione from the bleeding Slytherin. Hermione was crying as she was punching Pansy.
"Dont.You.Dare.Talk.About.Him.Like.That" She said, punching Pansy inbetween.
Suddenly, Hermione felt two large arms surround her, breaking her appart from the unconscious girl.
"Get.Off.Me" She said, trying to break free. She stopped once she heard Hagrid's sobbing.
She turned her head to find Hagrid was the person holding her, he was taking her to his hut. He only put her down once they reached the grounds of the hut.
"Hagrid" Hermione said, before jumping and embracing Hagrid, who was sobbing so hard that Hermione feared that Ron had died while she was in the requirements room.
"I'm so sorry" The man sobbed.
They both could only embrace each other as they cried, they didn't loose Ron, but nearly loosing him to suicide, it just hurt even more.
"Lets–Lets go inside" Hagrid sobbed, breaking apart from the hug.
The hut was pretty much a mess, Hagrid had broken a hole in the wall, the fire wasn't burning as brightly as it usually did. He was clearly suffering as much as they were.
"I'm so sorry for Ron" Hagrid said once he sat down with Hermione.
"Hagrid... None of us saw it coming"
"I should've seen it! I'm a teacher, an adult, I'm supposed to know what is going on with the students!" He exclaimed.
"Hagrid, neither McGonagall nor Dumbledore saw it coming, don't blame yourself. If anyone should blame themselves is me"
"Hermione, you're a kid. Why would you think it's your fault"
"Because... Because I've hurt him" Hermione said "No no" She added once she saw Hagrid about to disagree "From the moment I met him I treated him poorly, I didn't even acknowledge his feelings when Crookshanks ate Scabbers!"
"Cats do that"
"Still, Hagrid, what would you do if Fang ate Crookshanks?" Hermione asked.
"I would apologize, you love that cat" Hagrid answered.
"Exactly, I never did that, I only blamed it on natural instincts. I should've apologized or at least tried to sympathize with him, but I didn't. Everyone took my side amd when Harry took Ron's side I got angry. I got angry because one person out of hundreds took Ron's side and not mine! And those two examples aren't even scraping the surface! I was a horrible friend! I literally snogged other boys to make him jealous but practically forbid him from dating or crushing on other girls! What kind of friend does that?!" Hermione said before crying again.
"Hermione... Yeah I'm not going to lie, those things are bad. But at least you're realizing what you did was wrong... Listen, when my dad died, I had so many things that I wished I could've said, many apologies, many thoughts, I had my time shortened. But you have a second chance with Ron, use it correctly" Hagrid said.
Chapter 4: Lavender's letter
Chapter Text
Lavender cried as she cuddled into Parvati's side, her friend had been awaken by her sobbing very early in the morning. Parvati at first thought that Ron had broken up with her or something, but was quickly corrected by Lavender, who filled her in on everything.
After that, Parvati stayed by her side and comforted her, while Lavender was much calmer than before, she still was destroyed. Her boyfriend had almost died, he almost left her, like Binky did.
"I'll be right back Lav, I'll go get you something to eat" She said, before standing up and walking out the door.
Lavender saw her leave, her tears staining Ron's letter.
When she had come back from the infirmary, walking faster than Hermione, she had immediately found the letter. It was in her bed, perfectly sitting there and waiting for her. She couldn't open it at first, not because it was difficult to open, but because it was scary to open it, she didn't know what Ron would've said to her before his... Attempt.
She heard Hermione grab her stuff, then she was quiet before grabbing something else, by the sound of it, it was a letter too. She remembers opening it and reading it, her sobbing growing as she read every part of that letter.
Dear Lavender,
I know you must feel a lot of things right now towards me, anger being the biggest one of them all. I don't blame you for that, I haven't been what people might define as a good boyfriend, hell, I wasn't even a decent boyfriend. When you told me you loved me, I have to confess, I looked around us to make sure nobody was there. It wasn't because of embarrassment or something like that, but because I didn't think someone would say that to me without it being a joke, even as you told me all the reasons you loved me, I still was waiting for Fred and George yo jump out saying "It was just a joke" And laugh at me. But that didn't happen, instead you loved me, despite the coldness, the emotional constipation, the scars, you loved me with all you had. And I repayed you like this, I didn't write this to make myself the victim, because I'm not, I was a jerk, you gave the love that I always desired, the attention I always wanted, and I didn't give it back. You were the first person to see Ron Weasley, the first person to not see Harry Potter's best friend, Hermione Granger's best friend, Ginny Weasley's older brother, you didn't see another Weasley boy, you saw me.
Lav, if you're reading this then please, don't hold on to me, keep loving, give your love to someone who deserves it and will return it. You deserve the best in the world, all the love in the world, all the care, everything. I'm sorry I couldn't give it to you, but at least I can go knowing someone will finally give their heart to you, the same way you do.
With all my love, Ron.
After reading that letter, she couldn't help all the sobbing to break out of her, her bed was the closest to Parvati, which was the reason she was the only one who was awoken by her. As Romilda and Fay were a bit farther away from them. Ron had been the first person she fell inlove with, and it wasn't something new like Hermione sayd, she wasn't like some of the girls who only liekd Ron because he won the Quidditch match.
It all started in their third year, after Binky was killed, she remembers feeling so lost, and sad and destroyed, Binky was just a tiny baby and had died horribly. She remembers the way Granger wanted to use her sadness and grief as a way to prove that Trelawney was wrong, she didn't care about Lavender's grief, she only cared about herself. When Ron jumped in and defended her, Lavender felt the world stop, Ron's blue eyes looked at her with comfort and just a small amount of pity, but Lavender saw so much more in his eyes, Scabbers had been killed by Crookshanks just a few days prior and Lavender could still see the unshed grief in his eyes. After all, her pet had died and everyone was comforting her, his pet died and nobody comforted him, the only person who sided with him was Harry. Not even his family comforted him.
Lavender always loved love stories, those tales of princesses rescued by the knights, Ron was her knight that day. She always saw him from afar, watching the way he always forgave people when they hurt him, saw him bring himself down constantly, saw him care, saw him scared, saw him proud of Harry whenever he won Quidditch matches. She fell for him, she fell hard for him. She was startled when she felt Parvati sit next to her in her bed.
"Here you go Lav" She said, handing her a glass of Pumpkin juice and a dish of Spaghetti Bolognese.
"Thanks Ti" Lavender mumbled, taking a sip of the Pumpkin juice.
Parvati sighed before she also began eating, it was almost like a tradition for them, whenever they were stressed or sad, they couldn't eat a lot, so they would both share their food. It was comforting in a way, it didn't heal her pain, but it made it slightly more bearable.
Chapter Text
Bill and Fleur entered Ron's hospital room, they had taken him in last night, and only allowed visitors at 9 am. Bill felt his knees give up when he saw his baby brother in the bed, luckily Fleur was there to hold him, he felt her ocean blue eyes look at him gently.
"I'm fine, it's fine" He said under his breath.
"Bill, it's alright, we can come back later if you want" She said.
"No, no I... I need to say a few things" With a deep breath, he walked towards him.
His eyes filling up with tears as he looked down at Ron. He had always been skinny, even as a baby, they had all been chubby but Ron had always been very thin; but he looked even thinner, to the point were Bill wondered when was the last time he had eaten anything.
"Ronnie, it's me. Your big brother" He said as he let out a snort mixed with a sob.
He didn't know why he said it, a part of him hoped Ron could hear him, another part hoped he would wake up and hug him like he always did after Bill woke him up from a nightmare. He felt his heart break when Ron didn't jump up calling out for him with "Billy".
"I got your letter Ron, you clearly inherited ny handwriting" He joked, as him and Ron had one of the worst handwritings of all the Weasley kids "Maybe I should've let Charlie teach you" He took the letter out of his pockets "I just... I need to tell you a few things about the letter... I know I'm not the best at reading, but I just really needed to tell you my opinion" He unfolded the letter and begane reading.
"Dear Bill, I don't know how to begin this letter. Honestly I don't even think you'll read it, you must really be hating me right now"
"I could never hate you Ron, I know I'm not the best at... Emotions and stuff but, I love you Ronnie, there's nothing you could do that would make me hate you"
"I've admired you since I was a child, I remember wanting to become a curse breaker just so we could be together more, guess I ruined that plan. You always encouraged me to be what I wanted and say what I feel, you encouraged me to apologize to Harry back in fourth year, to date Lavender this year, to let my hair grow like I wanted. I know the latter seems like nothing, but to me it meant the world"
"It isn't nothing Ronnie, it was a baby step but it was a step nonetheless. Your first step to stand up for yourself and do something without worrying about other's opinions. I wish I could've done more for you there"
"I know almost everyone in the family thinks you and Fleur are rushing in your relationship, but I couldn't be happier. I see the way you look at her and the way she looks at you, you both look at each other as if the other put the stars in the sky. I would say that I'm sad I won't be at your wedding, but I would be lying, because I'll be there. The same way you were always there for me"
"... That means the world to me Ron" Bill sobbed, his tears streaming down his face and he choked up reading the letter.
"I hope the best for the both of you, please don't let me ruin your moment. Don't let me destroy your happiness" Bill couldn't finish reading the letter, as he felt the dam break, and his crying began.
The sobs and cries filled the room, he dropped the letter as Fleur softly held his head and layed it over her chest, holding him as they both cried.
"Ronald... I 'aven't gotten the chance to know you, the way Bill 'ere 'as. But I can tell you, you didn't ruin the moment. Thanks to you we met each other, thanks to you, my seester is 'ere to see us marry, thanks to you, we found each other, the love of our lives." Fleur said.
Bill softly got out of the gentle and comforting hug of Fleur, to kneel next to his baby brother.
"Ronnie... I'm so sorry" He said, holding his hand as he cried harder. Fleur kneeled next to him, her arms surrounding him.
"... 'e forgave you before you even came in" She whispered, as she also began crying.
The door was opened behind them, they didn't need to turn around as Bill recognized Molly's footsteps.
"Oh my baby" She sobbed as she also walked up to Ron. However, she didn't get too close as her eyes found the letter laying on the ground. "What is this?" She asked, taking the letter and reading it with doubt.
"Molly not now" Arthur began, but was stopped by Molly exclaiming.
"You got a goodbye letter from him and I didn't?!?"
"Molly, don't make a scene"
"I'm not making a scene Arthur!" She turned to him "I just think it's unfair for him to get a letter and not me!"
"Why is it unfair that I got a letter? Because I don't have Molly Prewett's stamp of approval? Because I'm willing to stand up for myself and do what I want with my body and life without begging for your approval and opinion?"
"Don't speak to me like that young man" Molly said as she pointed at Bill.
"Why? What are you gonna do? Ground me? Send a Howler to my job? Threaten to lock me up and take away my freedom?" Bill asked.
Molly seemed taken aback, before looking upset, she turned to Fleur.
"You told him to do this"
"Oh Melin's pants, Molly I'm doing this because you're being nonsensical. You've been nonsensical for years now, you should've expected one of us to tell you"
"I wouldn't exoect you to disrespect me like this"
"Oh, so you can insult my appearance, my career, my fiancee, my home. But if I tell you you were wrong, I'm being disrespectful? Resoect goes both ways Molly and I won't respect someone who doesn't respect me"
Molly gaped as she turned to Arthur, clearly expecting him to defend her.
"Bill's right Molly, you're being nonsensical. We came her for Ron, not for you to make a scene"
Molly was clearly upset that nobody was on her side, but that seem to do the trick and calm her down. Only for Charlie and Percy to walk in, both holding their letters. They all saw Molly turn red at the sight.
Chapter Text
Molly angrily looked at the letters in Charlie and Percy's hands.
"You got letters and I didn't?!" She angrily spat.
"Molly–"
"Do NOT Molly me Arthur Weasley" Molly said "Why did Ron write theem and not me?!"
The door was opened again, this time revealing the twins.
"What's going on?" Asked George.
"Did you get letters too?!" Molly asked.
"No" Fred responded.
"What letters?" George added.
"Molly is upset that Ron sent us suicide notes, but didn't send her one" Bill said.
"That's not why I'm angry!"
"Are you seriously asking this Molly?" Charlie asked, his face showing his anger and confusion.
"Of course I am, I'm his mother! I gave birth to him!"
"And Bill, Charlie and I raised him!" Percy jumped in.
"Don't you dare talk, you abandoned your family yet you still had a letter"
"Oh yes, I'm so lucky to have a suicide note written to me, how ungrateful I am. This is everyone's dreams" Percy spoke sarcastically.
"Don't use that tone with me!" Molly exclaimed.
"Molly, keep it down unless you want to be kicked out" Bill said.
"Are you threatening me?! I deserve to be here! None of you should be here! I am his mother, I have to be here!"
"So all it takes yo get your attention is almost dying? Oh jeez, why didn't we think of that earlier, maybe you would've actually seen us as your children" Charlie spoke.
"Charles, you are my sons, but right now I'm getting impatient"
"You've been impatient since the third son" Bill said.
"Bous please let's stay calm"
"Shut up Arthur!" Bill spoke "Are you seriously acting as if we're angry for no fucking reason? Your wife here is the reason. She's been acting, all our lifes, as someone who isn't payed enough to care for someone else's children!"
"That's not true, I love you all the same. And it pains me that you think I don't care about my children" Molly spoke, holding her chest.
"No no no, you don't care about your SONS" Charlie clarified.
"All our lives we weren't enough, Bill was too strict, Charlie wasn't strict enough, I wasn't loose enough, the twins were too loose" Percy said "We all tried our best, naively thinking we would someday be enough, but we won't. All. Because. We. Weren't. Daughters"
Molly seemed hurt by that.
"That is not true, I wanted you to be better for yourselves"
"YOU DIDN'T" Bill exclaimed, pulling his hair "We're never good enough, when we're happy with ourselves, you aren't happy"
"Give me one example of that!" Molly exclaimed, looking around for support.
"Bill's job, Bill's appearance" Fleur said, receiving a death glare from Molly.
"Charlie's job, Charlie's appearance, Percy's dreams, our dreams"
"Ron's gender–"
"Enough!" Molly interrupted the twins. "Why are you so jealous of your sister?" Molly asked.
"Are you serious?" Percy asked.
Charlie turned to face the wall, cursing under his breath, Bill had closed his eyes and took deep breaths, to not loose it completely.
"We're not jealous of her, we're upset that all she had to do to make you happy was be a girl. While we had to go above and beyond for you to see us as something other than one step closer to your dream daughter" George said
"That's not true"
"Is it?" Bill asked "okay then tell me. If we had been born differently, Ginny your first born, Ron your second born, etc. If we had been born like that. Would you have had another child?" He asked calmly.
"... What?" Molly asked.
"If you had gotten Ginny the first time you had a child. Would you have had a second child?" He asked again.
The room went silent, waiting for Molly's response, which was basically only her stutters.
"... That's what I thought" Bill sighed "I should've taken Ron when I could"
"What?" Charlie asked, all eyes were on Bill.
"He wanted to take Ron away from us"
"No, I wanted to get him somewhere were he would actually be treated like he deserves"
"Bill when did you want that?" Percy asked.
"When I came home for the Quidditch tournament, I saw that Ron had a scar on his leg, when I asked him about it I found out he had been attacked by a dog, which lead to a broken leg. As I kept talking and finding out more times where he had been injured and we were left unknown about that. I asked parents of the year over here" He pointed at Molly and Arthur "About it and found out they also didn't know about it. The troll fight, the almost dying by Devil's snare, almost dying by a giant chess piece, almost dying in the Whomping willow, almost dying by a Basilisk, almost being killed by a serial killer, being attacked by a werewolf.
"All those things were just, not known by them" Bill ended counting "Of course, I freaked out and yelled at them, I told them that I wanted to take Ron to live with me in my apartment. But mom managed to make me feel inadequate to do so as I, and I quote "Didn't have enough money to take care of a child"" He used his fingers to sign the air quotes "Of course I believed her about it, and then I got engaged with Fleur and realized that it was dragon dung, but it was too late and I assumed that they would start treating Ron better with the threat of me taking him away. Guess I was wrong"
"He's my son, William! And you're not in a position to take care of a child like Ronald" Molly said. Ignoring Arthur, who had been trying to calm her down.
"And you were in a position to take care of seven children?" Charlie asked.
"Guys, I know my job wasn't the best"
"Not you dad" Percy interrupted. "You did what you could with what you could get. But mom could've tried something"
"Who would take care of you?" Molly asked.
"Mom, I get that you had to care for us when most of us were still in the house. But you could've tried getting a job when Ginny got into Hogwarts. I know you didn't have training like dad, but you could've worked at Madam Markin's, or something to at least help a little" Percy said.
"You know what? I'm leaving, clearly you all think being a parent is easy. I'll go, I'll lay off your back, stop talking to you, stop writing you, everything. Let's see if you can survive without me" Molly turned around.
"Molly" Arthur called behind her.
"No, Arthur, I can't be in a room with ungrateful brats who can't recognize my hard work." She turned to Bill "If you ever have a child, don't bither writing to ask for my help, because you clearly think it's easy raising a child" She said, before leaving.
Arthur sighed as the door was closed.
"I'm so sorry" He said.
"Dad" George spoke "Apologize for the things you did, not for the things she did and said"
Bill saw Arthur look at the door.
"If you want to go then go, we won't force you to stay" He said.
"... No, I'll stay. It's what I came to do. It's what I have to do. It's.... It's what I should've done a long time ago" He said, as he looked at Ron, still asleep on the bed.
Chapter Text
Arthur walked over to Ron's bed, his sons and Fleur copying him. He sat in the couch next to Ron and stared at him, his blue eyes filling with tears. The twins stood behind Bill and Fleur, and Charlie and Percy sat at Ron's feet, both still holding their letters. Time seemed to loose control, they didn't know if they spent two seconds, two minutes, two days, months, years ir decades. But they did know that Arthur was talking.
"You know, when I got the letter that Ron had tried to kill himself I felt like I had failed as a father. From the second he was born I told myself I would do my best to protect him... He had come in earlier than he was supposed to, the birth was horrible, I was so happy and relieved when he was in my arms, breathing and looking around. The same couldn't have been said for Molly, we had been told Ron would be a girl, after the birth I was just happy he was alive, I didn't care about the gender; but Molly was disappointed. She told me to get "it" away from her, that this was supposed to be her baby girl. I suppose I should've seen what kind of mother she was going to be... But I was in love, she had been my first love and I didn't want her or you to end up in the streets because I couldn't take care of you. I suppose I still did a bad job at taking care of you." He said.
"Dad don't blame yourself-"
"Perce I appreciate that you don't want to blame me, but I have to take responsibility for my actions" Arthur interrupted him "I should've been a better father, I should've defended you when Molly was too much, I should've told you that she wasn't right. Instead I just allowed it to happen"
Silence filled the room once more, after all, emotions wasn't something they exceeded at, growing up in a home were showing emotions that weren't happy would be immediately punished really affected that.
"I was rarely there for him. I know I was at Hogwarts and then working abroad but, I could've written more. Especially after he was almost killed in fourth year" Charlie said. "Well, his third year too, and second, and first, and fifth... Guess it only took six near death experiences to get me to show up... I remember back in his first year he sent me a letter to help him take an illegal Dragon from Hogwarts to Romania, it was the perfect chance to go, show up, talk and catch up... Instead I just sent some friends and stayed in Romania" Charlie's voice broke, as he quietly began crying.
"You weren't the only one that failed as a brother" Percy said "I wasn't a git just with Ron, I was a git with all of you. I remember when Bill and Charlie were still at Hogwarts they left me get away with the few things I did, like, staying out later to sneak with Oliver into the Quidditch pitch, or when I stole books from the library. You guys always left me get away with it. I should've returned the favor but instead I was a git and always tried to prove I was better just for having a prefect's badge. When I got the badge, Bill and Charlie wrote and congratulated me, I remember having a moment that was just for myself. When Ron got his badge I barely wrote a congratulations before I told him to stop being friends with Harry" He sounded strained, as if he was struggling not to cry.
"At least you congratulated him" Fred said "Me and George didn't even do that, we just said it was a mistake... We should've said congratulations, or an I'm proud of you" He began to tear up "I mean, we never had someone say that, we wanted to get told we made someone proud. Yet, when we had the chance to say we were proud of someone we just..." Fred sobbed as he broke down. Quickly hugged by his father and older brothers. His baby brother staying still on the bed, unresponsive.
After the visiting hours had finished, Arthur walked out, finding that Molly had taken the car. With a heavy sigh, he Apparated at the Burrow, coming face to face with a very angry Molly.
"Where have you been?!" She asked angrily.
"At St. Mungo's, visiting Ron, like we were originally going to" Arthur responded simply.
"You know how long I waited for you?! I stood there for twenty minutes before I left!" She exclaimed.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know I was taking too long visiting our son, you know, the one who almost killed himself and is now in a coma!" Arthur exclaimed.
"After the way they treates me?!"
"After the way you've treated them?! Molly, with everything you've done you should be happy they visit every few years!"
"After I abandoned my dreams and ambitions for them?! After I raised and fed them?!"
"After you neglected them!! You view our sons as the things that popped out before Ginny, you always told Bill and Charlie to quit their jobs, you always shame them on how they look, you told the twins to abandon their dreams so you can be happy, and don't even get me started on Ron! There's a reason he didn't want to write you a letter!! How many times do we have to tell you?!"
"You've never spoken to me like this before" Molly said.
"It's bloody time I do!! Molly, our son almost died, almost killed himself, and you still find a way to make it about yourself!! Instead of staying, like I and everyone else did, you left because you felt you were being attacked!!"
"I was being attacked!! See, this is so annoying, you always do what your sons want and then you're the cool father and I'm the bad mother!!"
Arthur stared at her.
"My sons?" He asked "THEY'RE OUR BLOODY SONS MOLLY" He screamed "I can't even believe it, you don't even see them as your children" He began tearing up from anger "That's it" He said, going up the stairs.
"Where are you going?" Molly asked, following him.
"I'm leaving, and I'm taking Ron and Ginny with me" Arthur said.
"Ginny?!" Molly asked, worried.
"Really?! You only care that I'm taking Ginny?! This is unbelievable, I should've done this a long time ago"
"So what? All these years of marriage, just thrown out the window for a mistake?"
"This isn't a mistake Molly, this is years of neglect and abuse that I ignored because I thought you did it because you cared when you clearly don't!"
"So you're kicking me out? When I have nowhere to go?"
"Keep the house for all I care, I'm not letting you see the kids. I'm putting you in the visitors blacklist, you're not seeing Ron"
"Where are you going then? You have nowhere to go except for this house"
"My brother lived in a cabin, it was a summer home, it has enough rooms for Ron, Ginny and I" He said as he packed his bag.
"Arthur please" Molly said, grabbing his arm "Please don't do this"
Arthur looked at her, she wasn't the woman he fell in love with. The love, compassion, they weren't there anymore. They had fallen into a rutine of being married that it was hard for them to actually put a stop to the relationship. But he had to do what was best for his children.
"I'm sorry Molly. But I can't let you keep hurting our kids" He sighed "One day, if you actually change, we might try again. But right now... This isn't going to end well, for you, for me or our kids" He said, getting out of Molly's grasp, and Apparating in the cabin.
Chapter Text
Harry walked towards the Quidditch pitch, normally Saturdays were just days for him, Ron and Hermione, but ever since... The accident, he was alone. Hermione had apologized for everything but she went back to her drawback state, not speaking to anyone, only eating the bare minimum, studying almost all the time. And Ginny was fuming all the time, she had broken up with Dean due to a horrible argument they had, both of them were close to Ron and both were feeling guilty over his attempt.
To be honest, everything seemed dull and grey, Ron's absence was very noticeable. Lavender Brown was always down, gone was the happy energetic girl that would cling to Ron 24/7. Luna had stopped being her weird usual self, she would never talk to anyone, she would never say anything about the creatures her dad knew (made up). Dven McGonagall was different, Harry still remembers her face when she saw Ron, he never imagined she could make that kind of face, he was used to seeing her as a strong woman who practically held all her students together, yet now she seemed, fragile.
Once Harry reached the pitch, he heard groans and hits in it, leaning in to see what was going on, he met the image of Ginny hitting the bludger over and over again, almost as if the bludger had insulted her or something. Harry had experienced an angry Weasley, and knew that an angry Weasley meant mad pain. He turned around, ready to leave, but was caught by Ginny.
"Harry" She said as she dodged the bludger "What are you doing here?" She asked, getting down.
There was a pause before Harry spoke. He needed to make sure Ginny didn't realize he wanted to avoid her.
"I wanted to come here to practice, but I saw you here and didn't want to interrupt" He answered.
"You don't bother me, you can play with me if you want Harry" She said, and Harry knew that her fiery tone wasn't giving him an option, but telling him to stay and play.
So he did, he took his broomstick and flew up into the air, hitting the bludger back and forth between him and Ginny. At first the hits were just hard enough to pass the ball, Harry assumed maybe Ginny wasn't angry anymore for calling her a bad sister. But he was proven wrong, when it slowly escalated into full on dodgeball, and Harry was back again in gym class, constantly hit by the balls thrown by Dudley and his goons. He dodged the bludger and sent it right back at Ginny, who then dodged and sent it harder. That went on for a while, until Harry almost fell from his broomstick.
"THAT'S IT" He exclaimed "Ginny, down" He ordered.
Ginny groaned and rolled her eyes on him before actually getting down. As soon as they touched the floor, Harry left his broomstick on the ground and marched towards Ginny.
"Why did you stop?" Ginny asked.
"What the hell is wrong with you?!" He asked.
"What do you mean what the hell is wrong with me?" She asked back "Did you firget where my brother is?"
"I am well aware if where he is Ginny, don't forget that we both found him!" Harry exclaimed.
"Then you should know why I'm upset!!"
"I understand you're upset but that doesn't mean you can be a git!!"
"Oh real classy Harry!! As if you never were a git!!"
"I was a stupid git sometimes, I recognize that, but I always had a reason!!" Harry flailed his arms as he yelled "I was a git because I thought I was possessed, I was a git because I was angry at Ron and Hermione for keeping secrets from me!! Yet I always apologize!!"
"I HAVE A REASON TOO!" Ginny yelled back.
"I'D LOVE TO HEAR IT"
"BECAUSE IT'S MY FUCKING FAULT OKAY?!" Ginny screamed, and Harry saw tears in her eyes for the first time ever.
"... What?"
Ginny's broken sobs where the only thing heard around the pitch.
"Before we found him... We had that stupid argument" She said between sobs "I was hurt by what he said, he's my brother, he always cared about me and I always cared what he thought. When he almost called me a - you know what - I felt hurt a-and angry and furious... I couldn't handle feeling like I had let him down and all I could do was just... Hurt him the way I was hurt... I told him that thing about Hermione" She covered her face with her arm "I-I did this to him" She said, and broke down.
Harry realized that was why she eas so angry, she wasn't angry at anyone but herself. He remembers his fight with Ron back in fourth year, he remembers how Ron was the entire week after the Dragon test, he felt guilty when Harry was in a safe situation that looked deadly. He can't imagine how Ron would've been like if Harry had almost died. He didn't realize he looked stupid just standing there while Ginny was finally saying all the things that had been eating her up for this whole time. He quickly went up to her and hugged her, not realizing he had also started crying.
"It's not your fault Gin" He began talking "This isn't one thing that just made him want to do this... We all fucked up, you, me, Hermione, everyone. I wish I could say that this isn't anyone's fault but it is, saying it isn't would be a lie... But that doesn't mean we can't fix this, we can make up for this once Ron wakes up" He said, his green eyes starring into Ginny's brown eyes.
"That's not the only reason of why I'm upset" Ginny spoke after a long silence "Dad sent me a letter... Him and mom broke up, apparently she wasn't being a good mom, he said she had done things he regrets letting slide and that he wouldn't get into detail in that letter but... I know this is for the best but it still sucks... I just feel like... I feel like I'm in a crumbling building... Everything's falling down around me and all I can do is watch as everything goes down and... I hate feeling like I'm not able to control everything that's going on around me... Takes me back to my first year" She said.
Harry wish he could say anything, something to just, calm her diwn and comfort her. But he couldn't, he knows how she feels, he's been feeling that since he can remember, but he never had anyone make him feel safe or be there for him. That was usually something Ron always did, maybe he could go and-
Harry heard a ringing in his ear when remembered that Ron wasn't there, he had been distracting himself with the DA, trying to keep things together but - deep inside, he did that because that was one if the few things that distracted him from the empty bed beside his. He could only cry as he embraced Ginny, cry for the time he needed Ron nect to him for support, cry for the nightmares he went through without Ron there to calm him down, just... Cry, for the first time in a while. They cried so long they thought there was no water in their bodies anymore, they cried to the point their eyes were bloodshot, they cried all the tears they had been storing for years, they cried their grief out. They didn't stop crying until they heard a voice calling them. They turned around to find Professor McGonagall.
"My sincerest apologize for interrupting my dears, but we've received news from St Mungo's and... They think you should all go there" She said.
Harry hoped this moment wouldn't mark another time he lost a part of his family.
Chapter Text
"What happened? Is my brother okay?" Asked a worried Bill as he walked through the doors of Ron's hospital room.
"Mr Weasley, please remain calm" Said the mediwitch who waited for them to arrive.
Lavender, Ginny and Hermione all stood apart from the other, glaring hexes at each other. The Weasleys all rambled in worry, wondering what was wrong with the baby boy of the family. Harry held his own hand in an attempt to sooth himself, noticing that Molly wasn't there.
"You called us and said there was a problem, what is going on with my son?" Asked Arthur, his face frowning in worry.
"Well, you see, when he was healed he had lost a lot of blood. Due to the trauma his body had gone through, the Mediwitch in Hogwarts, Pomfrey, had to put him in a coma to allow his body to recover. He was supposed to wake up a few days ago" The Mediwitch explained "It's common for induced patients to stay in a coma for a longer amount of time, however, we are obligated to always make sure both mental and physical health are okay, as one can affect the other. It seems like his subconscious and his magic have made Ronald's comatose state extend"
"What does that mean?" Asked Fred.
"It means that Ron's subconscious and magic think he's better off in his comatose state" Percy talked.
The information clearly destroyed and confused them, Harry could see the different ways they all reacted to that. Arthur and Bill looked hurt, their expressions reminding Harry of the faces someone does when they try to reach out for an injured puppy and it cries out as they crawl away. Charlie and the twins all were frozen in shock, holding onto a wall, as if they would faint the second they let go of it. Ginny's face looked more angry than sad, but Harry thought that maybe that anger wasn't directed at Ron. Lavender seemed ready to cry as hard as possible, he didn't blame her, he felt himself about to cry.
"What?!" Exclaimed Hermione, visibly upset. "Why would he think that?!"
"He's not the one that thinks that necessarily" The Mediwitch said "You see, suicides don't happen for one thinng, it's a series of things that happen mixed with already some mental health issues, like depression, for example" She said "His subconscious basically feels that life isn't something worth doing, feels like it's a waste of time. Since our magic core is so affected by our emotions and subconscious, it has forced Ronald into a comatose state"
"How do we get him out of there?" Asked Lavender.
"Well, something we could do is little by little entering his mind through legilimency. One by one you will need to enter his subconscious and try and bargain with him." The Mediwitch responded
"Why not all at the same time?" Asked Fred.
"That's very simple, that's to avoid making the subconscious go into shock. If you all enter at once, it would cause some distress on his mind, amd what we want is to make the transition from comatose to awake as tranquil and effective as possible. I would probably recommend going in pairs, as that has proven to have better results. However, you can't go over two people, it's either one or two, three would already be very difficult." The Mediwitch responded "Now, would you prefer taking some time to decide when and who will go into his mind?"
"I think we're gonna need some time to make sure we're all in the same page" Arthur said.
The Mediwitch nodded, leaving the room for them to decide who would go in first and who would go with who. Their eyes immediately traveled to the other, as if defying someone to come up first so they could go against them.
"I think-"
"I'LL GO FIRST!" Exclaimed Bill, interrupting Arthur.
"No you won't! I will" Percy exclaimed.
"Ah, as if, Percy" Fred groaned "I'll go first"
"Why? You wanna shame him some more?" Percy asked.
"Go to hell Percy" George jumped in.
"I should go first!" Hermione exclaimed "I'm his best friend!"
"I'm his girlfriend! And you attacked him! I should go first!" Lavender growled.
"I'm his sister! I was with him from day one, I should go first!" Ginny exclaimed.
"I should go first! I saved him once, I'll save him again!" Harry exclaimed, jumping in the argument.
The argument between the people in the room slowly escalated to a full on brawl, Percy had pushed George, Fred pushed Percy, who bumped into Ginny, who pushed Hermione, who pushed Lavender, who pushed Charlie, who pushed Bill. The fight was stopped by a loud "Petrificus Totalus", followed by a *thud* as they all hit the ground.
"I think!" Arthur said, holding up his wand "That we should pick teams, to see who will go with who. Then we're going to draw papers with numbers, and that's how we'll do, no complaining about whether you go first or last, no complaining about whether you like who you were paired up with. Understand?" He asked, even though they couldn't answer "Great, now" He said "Finite"
"Dammit dad, that hurt" Charlie groaned as they all stood up.
"Sorry Charlie, it was either that or going bankrupt by paying what you destroyed in the fight." He sighed "Now, who wants to go with who?" He asked.
"I take Fred!"
"I take George!" Exclaimed the twins at the same time.
"Groundbreaking" Percy whispered. "I would be fond of going with Charles" He said, louder.
"I'll go with Harry" Ginny said, holding Harry's arm, Harry felt his heart do a weird jump.
"I'll go with you" Bill told Arthur.
"Guess that leaves Hermione with Lavender" Arthur said
Both girls were very vocal about their discontent, literally, both of them began yelling at each other and looking for a new partner.
"It's either both of you going together or not going at all"
"Why can't we go separated?" Hermione asked.
"Becauss going together will have better results" Harry said "I know you hate each other, but this is to save Ron, not to bond with each other. Okay?"
Hermione gave a loud sigh before groaning out a "fine".
"Lavender?" Harry asked.
"... For Ron" She said.
"Great, now, I have some parchment left from the letter we were sent after Ron's accident. I'll write numbers one through five, I'll mix them and we each pull one piece of parchment" Arthur said as he did all the things he was explaining "Now, Perce" He said, and Percy stepped over, taking the parchment piece "Fred" He said, and Fred also did the same as Percy.
That went on until they all had a parchment.
"Okay, now open them, and read the number out loud" Bill said.
"One" The twins said.
"Two" Ginny read.
"Three" Percy read.
"Four" Lavender said.
"Five" Bill sighed "We're going last"
"I'll call the Mediwitch" Percy said, leaving the room as he went to look for her.

"Alright Mr and Mr Weasley" Spoke the Mediwitch "This potion will make you sleep and enter a trance like state, which will end once you make progress with Ronald. Before you drink it, however, I must warn you; before you drink the potion, you must focus on your memories involving your brother, to allow your minds to travel to his subconscious" She explained "You understand?"
"Yes" The twins said, at the same time.
"Alright then, I recommend the rest of you to leave the hospital as this mission will be long here in the real world" The Mediwitch said, now referring to Ron's friends and family.
"But what abo-"
"Billy" Arthur interrupted "If anything goes wrong, we'll be called" He said, holding his hand "And these types of procedures are very low risk"
Bill looked at his father, piercing blue eyes connecting. Bill's eyes held all the questions he was thinking of, who could blame him? He had almost lost a brother, he couldn't handle loosing two more. Arthur's eyes, on the other hand, held reassurance, he was still scared, but he somehow looked calm, tranquil, Bill remembered all those nights were Arthur would expand his bed and comfort all his children in the middle of those huge storms.
"Okay" He whispered, looking down.
"Now, since we're going to wait for a while, and it's Saturday. Shall we go to... Uncle Billius' cabin?" Arthur asked, not wanting to mention anything about the separation, in case Ron could hear them.
The family nodded, slowly walking out the door, leaving the twins with the Mediwitch.
"Alright" She called, getting the twins' attention "I shall prepare these potions in glasses so that you're able to drink them at the same time. While I do that, you start recalling memories of Ronald"
The twins nodded before thinking back to their earliest memory of Ron. They remember hin as a baby, for being such a scrawny child, he was a fat baby, they remember always wanting to squish his cheeks hat looked like two Pigmy puffs, those blue eyes that looked at everything with such wonder and excitement. Ron's first accidental magic, in which he somehow teleported to the middle of the air during a Quidditch match and fell on a player, who then proceeded to pass the giggling and squealing four year old to another player, which then turned in a game of hot potato that ended when the player handed Ron back to their mother, since that day, Ron had loved the Chuddley Cannons.
"Here you go" The Mediwitch said, handing them the glasses filled with the potion "Once you're able to enter his mind, you will appear in the memory he associates when he thinks of you, whether it's a bad memory or a good one. To be able to appear in his mind, however, you must keep focusing on the memories, chug the potion, and as you fall asleep, keep remembering, this will make the transition of consciousness easier."
The twins nodded before doing as the Mediwitch said. Memories of Ron flashed through their minds, when he received his Hogwarts letter, seeing him sit with Harry in the train, the sorting hat ceremony, hearing about the troll incident, the way he was an empty shell of himself when he fought with Harry, and lastly, the teddy bear accident.
Screams filled their head as they found themselves in Ron's bedroom, they doubled down in pain as the screams got louder and louder. George opened his eyes with great struggle, finding a large spider cornering a child. He stared in shock as he realized, this was Ron when Fred turned his teddy bear into a spider. With a deep breath and a groan, he ran towards the spider and grabbed it, the weird mixture of soft, rough, dry and slimy texture of the spider-teddy made him shiver and gag. He quickly turned towards the window and threw the spider-teddy out it.
"Thank you" Fred said, recovering from the screams he heard, he had always been a bit sensitive to loud noises "Now we have to fi... Ronnie" He whispered, once he turned and found four year old Ron. His eyes swelled with tears as he walked towardd him "Ronnie thank Merlin you're alright listen-"
"You ruined our fun" Called a creepy voice behind them.
Fred and George turned to find... Themselves, but of course, much younger.
"This wasn't fun you arse" Fred growled.
"This is the worst mistake you'll ever make" George added.
"No" Spoke the younger twins at the same time, Fred and George wondered if they always sounded creepy when they did that "This was fun, you are just two humongous bigheads. And what you did, was the worst mistake you'll ever make" They added, getting in a fighting pose.
"Yeah, we're not doing this" Fred answered, stomping over the younger twins and grabbing them. Sending them out the window, like the spider-teddy "Listen Ronnie, you need to come back" He said kneeling next to Ron.
"Yes, nothing's the same without you." George added to him "I know we've been less than good brothers"
"Understatement" Fred shrugged.
"But" George glared "We want to make it right, we need you out there Ronnie, just, please give us a second chance."
"I promise I'll stop being an arse" Fred said "I won't get mad at you, I won't make fun of you just please" He let out a broken sob "Please I want my brother back."
Ron looked at them, his blue doe eyes filled with tears as the spider-teddy was burned into his memory. The twins had never wanted to hold and protect something so much in their entire life. He opened his mouth, about to talk. A black claw/knife-like object pierced through the wooden wall. Ron screamed in fear as George, the twin closest to him, wrapped his arms around him. They stood up, George holding Ron, hiding him from the claws. Fred stood up in front of them as another claw stabbed the wall, the walls cracked as whatever stabbed the walls pulled back, opening a giant hole on the wall. Revealing a creature that made Fred and George fear for their lives.

Hi everyone! Sorry for not updating for such a long time. I've been in exam weeks and have been studying non-stop. I've also been told that school will finally go back to normal, so my updates may become even more random, but I want to let all of you know that, just because I'll take longer, doesn't mean I'll quit the stories. Thank you so much for the support, and I hope you enjoy.
Chapter Text
The memory twins had melted together with the Spider-teddy, the creature resulting of that was so terrifying, so gross, so nightmarish. That it was enough to make them have a visceral reaction. It was as if an acromantula, two humans and a giant teddy bear had been melted, quickly taken out of the heat and put into ice and frozen together in a weird shapeless, amorphous nauseating creature.
The twins' torso looked as if they had been left in water for so long they engorged and turned grey. Each of them had an extra eye that once belonged to the teddy bear, they had pieces of blue cloth stuck to their skinn, their hair was a mixture of their red hair, cotton and the hair spiders had. The worst was definitely under them, they had eight legs, four of them human legs, four of them were their arms wich had somehow turned into their legs, and two of them, on the front, were spider legs. The human legs were the size of a pine tree, bony looking, thin and even with some bones growing out of them to imitate the hairs of the spider legs.
"We told you you would regret ruining our fun" The creature spoke, and the voice almost made them faint in fear. It was a mix of their voices, but it sounded as if they were gurgling and chocking, cotton and fabric flied iut of their mouth with every word they spoke.
Fred started patting his pockets, desperately trying to see if he had his wand with him, he didn't, they dodged as one of the front legs launched at them, trying to grab them.
"Ronnie, listen to me, right now, we need you to run" Fred said, taking Ron's face in his hands "Hide somewhere, anywhere as long as you stay away from the fight. We'll handle this" He continued, turning and finding the reason the Spider-teddy was born, the broken toy broomstick.
An idea struck Fred, immediately jumping up, he ran to the broken broomstick as the creature launched again. He turned around and cut one of the legs, making the creature wail in pain, a weird black mucus oozed out of the missing limb.
"Run!" George exclaimed, running and grabbing the other half of the broomstick.
They could hear Ron's tiny steps run out the door. Closing it behind him.
"DON'T HURT MY BROTHER!" Exclaimed Fred's half as he attacked them with the remaining spider leg.
This time, George slashed it in half.
"YOU'VE HURT OUR BROTHER" He exclaimed as the creature fell backwards. Hollering in pain.
The twins jumped down, while the hous was gigantic, they didn't feel the fall, it felt as if they had jumped down from one meter only. They took advantage of the pain of the creature to run towards it, slashing his arms and legs. These, however, was much harder than the spider legs, they looked bony and weak, but they were stronger than the spider legs. They could cut them the same way they could get cut with a parchment corner, the black slime still replaced the blood in the legs.
The spider twins clearly didn't like loosing, after all they had always despised not being on top of everything. With a loud growl, they smacked the real twins away from each other, Fred hit a tree, while George fell into the lake.
"You gits!" Exclaimed the two heads "You're ruining our fun and fighting us, as if that would stop us! And for what?! For a nosey git who has nothing that makes up for the lacks!!" They spoke as they walked towards the burrow "No bravery!" It exclaimed as it smashed the attic "No intelligence!" It smashed Ron's room "No looks!" The floor below was smashed "No talent!" He smashed the floor below that, he kept smashing each floor after throwing an insult directed at Ron.
The twins were struggling to get up, Fred had smashed against a tree that took away his breath, he knew he would have a large bruise if he was lucky; while George had gasped in pain before falling into the lake, breathing in water and mud. The two of them were shaking as they grabbed their broken broomsticks, struggling to stay standing as the adrenaline was wearing off due to the hits. It came back once they heard Ron's screams as the Spider twins found him hiding in the chimney, the pot holding the floo powder was kept over the chimney, which was too tall for him to reach.
"NO RIGHT TO BE A WEASLEY!" It screamed as he leaned down to capture Ron.
"NO" Screamed Fred, throwing the broomstick up in the air, landing right on the head of Spider-George.
The creature wailed louder than they had ever heard, the floor shook and the glass of Arthur's workshop broke as the thing stumbled.
"GEORGE" Screamed Spider-Fred "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO MY BROTHER?!" It screamed, trying to turn around, falling and landing on the floor, not being able to control George's half.
George quickly got to the wailing Spider-twin, stabbing his head with the broomstick. The cries and wails of grief and anger stopped, the twins held hands as they watched the creature slowly become necrotic. Once the entire body was black and ashy, it slowly melted into thousands and thousans of tiny tiny spiders. Which took off to the nearest place they could use to hide, the forest a few meters away from the Burrow.
"Ronnie" Whispered Fred as the twins heard a broken sob coming from the ruins of the kitchen.
They immediately ran towards the sobbing, hoping they could still convince their baby brother into waking up. They began lifting and throwing away all the debris that could be used by a four year old as a hiding spot, lifting up remains of the kitchen table, of the ceiling, of the stairs, cabinets, everything. Until they only had one left, a large piece of ceiling that was against a corner, the sobbing had stopped, and only soft sniffles were left. Fred and George took the wood and moved it.
"What?" Asked George in shock at the sight of the seventeen year old Ron.
"Ronnie?" Called Fred, his hand raising and reaching out for Ron.
He was stopped as Ron took his hand and pressed it harshly, he looked up, his blue eyes looking white and filled with rage that somehow made them feel freezing cold only.
"Get out" He spoke in a guttural voice, a white light shined from his eyes as everything around them vanished. Being replaced by the hospital room.
"Do you feel okay?" Asked the Mediwitch.
A joke would've been their response, if they weren't still traumatized over their experience.
"I assume his magic and subconscious fought back" She continued.
George looked up at her.
"There was this... Thing... A creature" He mumbled.
"May you please explain how the creature looked?" The Mediwitch asked.
"It was a spider... But with our heads and torsos" Fred answered "Back when we were six, Ron broke our toy broomstick accidentally. We... We turned his teddy bear into a spider... He's been terrified of them since them"
"I see, arachnophobia caused by a sibling fight." She spoke "A lot of times, when a patient goes through trauma, they normally view the person or people surrounding that trauma as the trauma, not the reason for trauma. In your case, you caised him such trauma that he developed a phobia to spiders, and since you caused it, he sees you as the trauma"
"I'm sorry for being rude" George interrupted "But why do we need to know this? We literally just came back from trying to get our brother to wake up, we're still a bit shocked"
"My apologies, but we need this information to prepare the rest of the family and friends. If one of them caused harm enough to cause trauma on the patient, then they also might fight against a creature that is a visual representation of his trauma" She explained "Do you need a glass of water or something?"
"No, no we're... we're okay we just... Just need some time alone... We'll call the others" Fred said.
"I think you should wait for tomorrow to do that, ot may have been only a few minites for you but" She pointed out the window "The time in our subconscious and dreams works differently, you've been in his subconscious for about eight hours"

"How did it go?" Charlie asked the twins as they sat on the couch at Arthur's cabin.
Bill walked into the room, holding two mugs that were smoking, filled with warm tea. He gave a sympathetic look towards the twins as he handed them the mugs.
"Drink up, it'll make you feel better" He softly spoke.
"Thanks" George muttered, beginning to drink it immediately.
"Do you kids feel okay? Do you feel like you can tell us how bad it was?" Asked Arthur "It's okay if you don't feel like telling us" He added, making sure he didn't force them to share.
"No no it's not that just..." Fred began, struggling to form a full sentence. "There are no words to describe it" He spoke in an empty voice "It was... It was worse than everything we've been through"
"Everything we did that we thought was a fun prank turned out to be one big fuck up after the other" George said "I mean, when we began falling into his subconscious we saw everything we did or said to him. When we did it we thought it was fun but... We didn't know Ron felt so hurt after them"
"You thought telling him that choosing him as a prefect was a mistake was funny?" Hermione asked.
"Hermione lay off a little" Harry hissed.
"Sorry" Hermione mumbled.
"No-we -we just" Fred spoke quickly, not knowing what to say "We didn't mean that we just... We saw the badge and just... Lost control for a second" He sighed.
"We felt jealous over our own little brother succeeding and getting something we never even bloody wanted" George grumbled.
"And we thought Percy was a Humongous Bighead" Fred mumbled.
Percy opened his mouth, as if to respond to the insulting-not-insult. Closing it when Bill tiuched his forearm.
"We just made him even more upset than he already was. He couldn't reach Harry and speak to him after Cedric. He was more upset than an angry dragon" George smiled, or, gave a sad attempt to smile. "We had to walk on eggshells for a while until Hermione showed up, he calmed down a little after that"
"When he got the badge he looked so proud, I didn't even remember the last time he looked like that" Fred spoke with fondness, almost as if he already accepted Ron's fate "That was the perfect time to tell him we were proud. Even if we suck with words we could've just hugged him or pat him over the head" He took a shaky breath "Instead we just said he didn't deserve it just because we were jealous. That was the best moment to hug him, we should've hugged him. Maybe that way he wouldn't have-" He stopped talking as a broken sob made him hold his head in between his hands as he broke down.
George quickly jumped in and held Fred, tears also sliding down his face. They were unlike Harry had ever seen them. No jokes, no smiles, no small hidden smirks; they were only empty shells of themselves. Hermione and Lavender were already crying; Arthur, Charlie and Percy were holding back tears; whil Bill was crying on Fleur's shoulder. Hary heard Ginny sigh next to him. He turned to her, she pointed to the hallway with her head, signalling that she wanted to go talk over there. Harry nodded before they both stood up.
The cottage was smaller than the Burrow, since it was only used every once in a while back when Arthur was a kid, and he only had one brother. It was layed out with a porch that had a swing set, the door lead to the living room, which had the kitchen the it's left and a hall that had three doors, one to the bathroom and the other two to the bedrooms. Arthur would begin to add more rooms and floors, as he would need a big space if he would have to host all his children and some.
"Do you think... What do you think we'll see?" She asked once she realized they couldn't hear her "I don't recall an incident that made Ron traumatised, but I also don't know if it was something that I did and didn't realize had hurt him"
"The only thing that comes to mind is the incident with Hermione and Krum" Harry said, trying not to sound like he was accusing her of causing this madness.
"Yeah, but his phobia of spiders came from a traumatic event. And if we take that into consideration" Harry hesitated, knowing Ginny still had troubles and side effects from the incident "The Basilisk comes to mind" He winced when Ginny flinched.
"Whatever it is" She spoke, after a long silence "We'll get through it. For Ron"
Harry smiled at her.
"For Ron"
Molly sat by herself in the kitchen, the Burrow felt like a version of an alternative universe to how it usually was. It was quiet and dark, even after all her kids had gone to Hogwarts, she still had Arthur, and she would be busy receiving letters from her children and doing household chores. But now, she didn't have anybody, she wanted to blame anyone and everyone; but everytime she blamed someone, Arthur's words boomed in her mind.
"After the way you've treated them?! Molly, with everything you've done you should be happy they visit every few years!"
She knew she wasn't the best mother, after all she knew there was no such thing as a perfect mother. Her mother was never good to her, she was obsessed with Gideon and Fabian, seeing them as the lights of her eyes, she remembers sending her letters with her scores, writing pages and pages about her days and weeks, thinking her mother would maybe one day respond with the same enthusiasm she wrote with. Only to see Gideon and Fabian receive huge letters filled with praises and candies, while her letters only said "That's nice Molly, wear this dress I found, let's hope it makes you look less fat."
But that's normal, mothers always want the best for their children, and her mother just wanted her to be a perfect woman for a man. And when they have many children, like Molly, they struggle to give love and attention to all of them. She even once told her mom she felt hurt she treated her differently, her mother then confessed her mother did the same to her.
"Listen Molly" Her mother would say "Girls naturally need more attention, if they get all the attention, however, they grow up to be useless wives. That's why I don't treat you the way I treat your brothers. Because if I cooked for you, did your bed and chores for you, the day you find a man, you'll realize he won't find you attractive and won't marry you. You'll thank me later"
So when she had Ginny she needed to make sure she would be the perfect woman for a man, buying her the newest robes and dresses, even if Ginny wouldn't wear them; making sure to remind Ginny she should act like a lady. But Ginny didn't like all those things, she despised having to cook and clean, felt uncomfortable in dresses of any kind (She had to bribe her to make her wear a dress to the Yule ball), Ginny needed to be worked on a lot more than Molly needed to be in her age.
So of course she payed more attention to Ginny, she needed to raise her right, the way her mother raised Molly right. It wasn't Molly's fault, it was in her DNA, engraved in her brain, that's just how things were for everyone.
She couldn't ignore the voice in her head that was saying otherwise.

Chapter Text
"You ready?" Asked Harry as the Mediwitch prepared the potion.
"No" Ginny deadpanned "But I'm also not ready to loose my brother" She added, her voice strained.
Harry nodded, turning to the unconscious figure of his friend. Harry wondered if that's how his parents looked when they passed, he immediately closed that door, telling himself his best friend wouldn't die, not as long as he was around.
"He's not going to die, we're not losing him" He held Ginny's hand "We're getting him back" He reassured her.
Ginny looked at hin, her eyes reaching their linked hands. Turning back to the Mediwitch when she called them with a "Alright"
"The potion is ready, now, I assume the twins already told you how to enter Ronald's subconscious" The Mediwitch spoke.
"Yes" Ginny and Harry said, at the same time.
The Mediwitch nodded, handing them the potion.
"Perfect, now drink up"
The memories quickly flashed through them, Ginny first saw herself looking up at Ron as he told her everything Quidditch related, saw him reading her the letters their brothers sent them when they were at Hogwarts, saw him teaching her how to fly behind their mom's back, saw him walking into the Hogwarts train. Harry saw the eleven year old Ron walk into the train compartment they shared the first time they ever met, saw their adventures from the mountain troll to Norberta to the stone; they both entered Ron's mind with one last image in their heads, the Chamber of Secrets.
"Where are we?" Harry asked, looking around him.
Harry thought it would maybe be the flight with Ginny, but neither one of them knew why they were there. Why they were in the Chamber of Secrets.
"Why are we here?" Ginny asked, shuddering.
This place brought back horrible memories, memories of nights she would spend crying as the dark and cold feeling of loneliness ate up her heart, the feeling of betrayal when Ron took the book away, the desperation she felt when trying to find her only friend, the guilt of freeing the Basilisk and petrifying many students, to the complete and utter hopelessness she felt when she almost died. She thought that would be her end, without getting to say goodbye to her parents, her brothers, without being able to go to all those adventures she planned with Ron and Bill when they were younger. The moments after it didn't get better, she spent almost two years not being able to open a book with a blank page without feeling as if someone was strangling her, she had to always sleep with the lights on, and even went days and days without taking a bath, as the darkness and the water would immediately bring her back to the chamber. In those moments her brain always would try and leave her body, almost as if saying "No, we're not doing this again, I don't want to see, hear or remember any of this" It took hours for her to ground herself during those times.
"I don't know" Harry whispered. "But whatever the reason is, we have to find Ron"
"Do you think he's in the hallway?" Ginny asked "I don't recall most of the fight, but I do remember he has been stuck behind debris"
"Don't know, but we have to check it out" Harry sighed, taking hold of Ginny's arm and walking towards the exit.
Both of them were desperate to leave, the stench of dead fish, snake poop, and rotten water making them feel nauseous; they didn't know why Salazar Slytherin couldn't pick a nicer place to put the chamber in, maybe one where the water was actually clean. Before they were able to reach the exit, however, a voice stoppee them in their steps.
"Oh, leaving so soon?"
Both teens turned around in shock, Ginny and Harry came face to face with, what seemed to be, the darker version of themselves. The Horcrux Ginny had her hair so dirty with mud and black vile it looked black, her eyes were grey and devoid of life, her skin a sickly grey and blue. She looked like a drowned corpse. Horcrux Harry wasn't any better, his right arm was missing, a rusty sword coming out of the severed extremity, his clothes were bloody and had many holes in them, so did Horcrux Harry; possibly due to the corrosive venom of the basilisk.
"Where is my brother?!" Ginny growled, puffing out her shoulders to hide the fear she felt, not for herself as she knew this wouldn't actually hurt her in real life, but for her brother, there were too many things she wanted to tell him, she didn't want this to be how he ended.
"Oh, always so courageous. Such a Gryffindor" Horcrux Ginny laughed.
"You know" Horcruz Harry called "The last time you were here, Harry saved a Weasley. Let's see if you can do it again" He grinned, motioning to the large statue that once held the Basilisk.
The mouth slid open, Ginny and Harry stood there, ready to fight whatever creature came at them, they were pleasantly surprised when the Basilisk didn't come out of there, bur were immediately worried and scared when they saw what was inside him. Right there, in the mouth of the man, layed a sleeping Ron.
"A Weasley to save, a Potter fighting, and a Weasley unable to help. Just like the first time" Horcrux Ginny laughed.
The black murky water surrounding them began sliding towards the two "hallucinations", as the water surrounded them, they melted like candle wax, black blood falling down as the water kept rising and rising. Forming a large snake like figure. Ginny looked around, finding the Gryffindor sword laying a few feet away from them. She attempted to run towards it, but was stopped when a bunch of stalactites fell around her, trapping her in a stone cage.
"Oh Gin-Gin, you never learn" The goosebumps inducing voice of the GinnArry Basilisk called.
The Basilisk was, somehow, groser and scarier than the first. Instead of scales, it had greyish skin filled with holes that dripped Basilisk vemom on the ground. It's eyes and mouth were covered in black water and blood, drooling down to the ground, and it's teeth were tiny rusty metallic pieces of the sword. It's voice was a mix between her's and Harry's vocie, but it sounded as if the were gurgling blood as they spoke. Everytime it spoke, it sent a joly of cold fear down their spines.
"Come on Harry, you don't want to miss the ending of your best friend" The Basilisk laughed, slithering towards them.
Harry quickly ran and grabbed the sword, hiding behind one of the statues.
"Come on Harry!" Laughed the Basilisk "Either fight or let him die!"
Ginny struggled against the stalactites, attempting to break free from them, sadly they were digged deeply into the ground. As she attempted to break free, she saw Harry take deep breaths before getting out from his hiding spot and slashing the monster. The thing let out a gurgling high pitched sound before jumping back, the black blood smoking as it melted through the ground.
"Oh you little shit!" It screamed, using it's tail to hit Harry.
Harry flew through the air, hitting the ground woth a loud groan of pain.
"Harry!" Ginny called, fighting harder against the stalactites.
She stopped for a second, slowly feeling her own brain grow blurry and fuzzy. She groaned and shook his head.
"Not now please, not now" She silently pleaded, fighting harder against the stalactites.
She pushed and pulled one, gasping when it moved, she looked down at the end that was stabbed into the ground, finding it slightly eaten out. Next to it, the ground was smocking as the acid ate through it.
"Basilisk blood" She whispered.
It wasn't enough to actually budge it, but it was enough to make ot slightly weaker. Harry kept fighting with all his might, hiding and slashing as much as he could. Ginny couldn't find a way to get him and the Horcrux Basilisk to come to her.
"There's more than just one way to win GinGin" Ron said, blocking Ginny's king "You kept trying to make your queen stay in the game, you didn't notice I was attacking your king. Make sure you have more than just one plan"
Ginny quickly began looking around as she remembered one of the many chess lessons Ron gave her as a kid before Hogwarts. She looked down, finding her shoe, she looked up, seeing more stalactites. She kneeled down and took her shoe off, pointing it at the stalactite, and throwing it. The shoe hit the tip and fell back down, a small stalactite falling with it; it couldn't be more than just nine inches, but it seemed like enough to hurt it. She grabbed the stalactite with her right hand and put on her shoe, now only needing the thing to reach her, luckily Harry had been launched ten feet away from where he was before, five feet away from her, he had moved only six feet away from the basilisk moving towards him, being a total of twenty one feet away from her, the basilisk was fifty feet long, leaving the tip of the tail right next to her. She eyed the position of the tail, to see where it moved and when it was the right moment to slash it; she held up the stalactite, taking a deep breath, and stabbing it with a loud groan. The plan worked out perfectly, the tail was slashed off, the slaughtered snake now let out rons of acidic blood that ate their way through the ground and the stalactites, which fell to the ground, giving her enough rrom to escape.
"You little-AHH" It gurgled, Harry's stabbing interrupting it's cursing.
It turned around, hitting Harry away with the nub of the slaughtered tail, making him hit a statue before falling to the ground, the sword falling not far away from him. Ginny saw the tail about to hit her, quickly dodging it and tumbling to the side as she ran and hid behind a statue.
"You can't hide forever Ginebra" The thing laughed "You'll come out sooner or later"
Ginny quickly ran to the sword and took it in her hands, squaring up.
"I prefer sooner" She said, slashing the thing's side before hiding behind another statue.
The thing screamed and gurgled as it turned around, seeing the cut. With a scream of frustration, it smashed the head of one of the statues.
"Come out and fight!" It ordered.
Ginny meanwhile shook her head behind the statue, slowly feeling her brain shutting off.
"Not now please, please let me save him" She begged to her brain.
She looked down at the murky waters, remembering Bill's advice when she saw him in Egypt.
"Smell something strong, it just snaps you back like that" He snapped his fingers.
Ginny took a deep breath, dipping her hands on the water and bringing it to her nose. The smell of rotting water enough to keep her in the moment. She huffed and ran out of her hiding spot, running at the thing and slashing it again. This time slashing it from it's nub upward instead of side to side, she didn't give it enough time before she slashed it again, and again, and again; to the point were almost everything was melted by the corrosive blood.
"Why are you still fighting? You can't save him" It asked.
Ginny tilted her head.
"I will. But if I can't, at least I get the satisfaction of destroying you" She responded.
With a final slash, the thing was cut in half. Ginny stood besides the corpsecorpseas it slowly turned into a pile of black blood, eating it's way through the ground, taking deep breaths as she dropped the sword; she turned to Harry, seeing him slowly regaining consciousness, before turning to Ron and running towards him. He looked slightly pale, his hair completely messy, when Ginny touched him he felt warm, at least showing he wasn't dead. She immediately pulled him out, softly laying him on the ground to avoid him getting injured; she caressed his cheek.
"Ron, Ron wake up, wake up come on" Ginny whispered.
Ron's eyes slowly opened, looking up at Ginny in confusion.
"Oh thank Merlin" Ginny said, hugging Ron.
"Ginny why-Why are you here?" Ron asked, Ginny had to push down the pang of hurt that hit her.
"To get you back, Ron" She answered, pulling back from the hug.
Ron sighed, closing his eyes.
"What do you want from me? When I was up there you didn't want me and when I'm down here you do?" He asked in frustration.
"Ron, I'm sorry for what I said. I was hurt and wanted you to hurt as much as I was I didn't mean for this to happen. I didn't know what you were going through please" She begged "Please I want you to come with us"
"Ginny, it wasn't the fight that let me know you hated me, you let me know everytime" Ron said.
"No no no no, no Ron I never meant anything I said after this" Ginny pleaded.
"You told me I was weak" Ron frowned "You told me I wasn't strong enough to save you, I wasn't strong enough to help Harry" His eyes blurred with tears.
"Ron I didn't mean anything of that" Ginny cried "I was scared down here, I wanted my brother to come and save me, I still want my brother please just" She shuddered "Just come home"
Ron shook his head, tears streaming down his face.
"Go home Gin" He shuddered "You're inside my head, you don't belong here and I don't belong there just... Just go home"
Harry stepped forward, his glasses fogged up by the tears. Ginny hadn't realized when he had woken up and walked up to them.
"Ron" He called "You're my home" He cried.
Ron smiled sadly.
"I'm not" He denied, and with a simple flick of the hand, Harry and Ginny were sent back to their bodies.
Chapter 14: Short notice
Chapter Text
Hi everyone! Sorry for the looooong break. I switched phones back in February and lost basically everything (email accounts, passwords, etc) and it took a long time being able to gather enough evidence to prove that I own this account and wasn't trying to steal it. Meanwhile that was going on, I created another account called Hemlock_2004, to post my back up fics so that I don't fully lose everything; that account will still be up in case I have another issue. While it was stressful, it gave me a chance to think and look back into my works.
So, I chose to take a small hiatus (trust me, I don't even think it'll be a hiatus, because I will update and post new fics) to edit and correct some old fics. When I first started, I was so obsessed with having a scheduled update, that I can read my episodes and say "Wow, I clearly didn't even try to make sure it was okay" I found many mistakes, many jokes that I forgot about and just, left for dead, many storylines that felt weird because I didn't go that deep into them, so I will just, go back to some fics and change those.
It won't be a 180 switch, so if you choose to not reread the fics post-edit it's fine, because the story won't change that much (or at all). It's just for my own peace of mind, the works that I will edit will be:
Suicidal Ron Weasley
The secret life of Spencer Reid
Metamorphmagus Ron Weasley
And maybe I will add onto that pile in the future, meanwhile, don't worry about me not posting new fics because Honey, I have (not kidding) 12 new fics from the Harry Potter, How to train your dragon, South park and even Teen wolf. Also, many old fics will be brought back to life, so don't worry, if I haven't updated a fic yet is because I'm still planning out how things will unfold. Thank you so much for your patience!
