Work Text:
Cas started him on it, so it’s his fault in the end, really.
Cas started on his own, actually. Little house plants. Succulents, small flowers and even bamboo. Then one day, he gifted Dean a package of sunflower seeds.
But, like, not the chewing kind.
No siree, Cas got him the planting kind.
So he planted them.
Then he planted carrots, and tomatoes, and he started a flower garden.
Ever since his transition, Dean didn’t allow himself the simple things. The… the “feminine” things. The things he really did enjoy. But now? He thinks… he’s accepted it. And Cas helps, of course. Cas, who kisses his scars. Cas, who nuzzles into his stomach and helps apply his HRT. Cas who tells him he’s a man when he most needs it.
So Dean tends to his garden outside his little, suburban house that he shares with Cas. Dean walks with his shirt off, from plant to plant with water and vitamins for the ones who need it.
He lets the sun soak into his skin for the first time in his life, he feels like. He runs his hands down his chest and inhales deeply. He smiles, really smiles.
And he lets go. He allows himself happiness in the sanctuary of his little garden.
His own little corner of paradise, of his own creation.
