Chapter 1: First Date (Part 1)

Chapter Text

Tony Stark

  • Took you to one of his parties as his date
  • He came and picked you up with Happy in a limo
  • You wore the nicest dress you had, and he thought you looked absolutely gorgeous, regardless of what type of dress you had or your body type (you wore what you were comfortable in, and therefore you were confident, and it showed. Tony found you beautiful all the time, of course, but when you were really truly confident, he thought you were really hot)
  • He showed up in a tux. He looks good in anything but that man has style
  • It was a rather small party (for him) - just the Avengers and some more of their close friends (people like Darcy)
  • You ate food, had a couple drinks, got to know people
  • Overall you had a good time
  • You stayed afterwards for a while with Tony sitting at the bar, just talking
  • You weren’t drunk, per se, but I suppose a few boundaries were blurred…
  • However, that actually helped - it helped both of you relax, so you had a good time really getting to know each other
  • It was really late by the time you decided to go home, so Tony insisted on taking you home (technically, Happy drove you home, but he accompanied you)
  • He went so far as to walk you up to your apartment
  • He left you with a sweet kiss on the cheek at the door

Steve Rogers

  • This man
  • This adorable, sweet, charming, romantic man
  • Took you out to a picnic in Central Park
  • But like, with planning
  • He probably got Sam and Bucky’s help
  • He picks you up on his motorcycle, gives you flowers, and you drive over
  • He’s already got the place set up:
    • picnic blanket over a table
    • cushions on the bench
    • basket with sandwiches and drinks
    • completely prepared for whatever food allergies you may have
  • He’s super nervous, despite knowing how things work in the 21st century by now. That’s not what he’s nervous about - it’s all you.
  • You wore what was comfortable. He always thinks you’re the most beautiful woman he’s ever met though
  • You ate the food, you talked. You had a good time, and so did he
  • He took you on a walk afterwards through the park, hand in hand
  • Then you stopped for ice cream before walking back
  • He drove you home on his motorcycle

Bruce Banner

  • First of all, he was super insecure about asking you out at all in the first place, because he was afraid he’d get too nervous or stressed and the “other guy” would show
  • (But he had nothing to worry about, of course. In fact, it was quite the opposite. If anything, you calm him down)
  • Tony finally convinced him, and so he did, and immediately freaked out about what you should do
  • Tony suggested a simple movie and meal combo
  • So that’s exactly what he did.
  • He picked you up, and was of course an adorable blushing mess
  • You headed to the movie theater and saw a new action-comedy, which was a good idea for a first date. It kept you both laughing the whole time, plus it didn’t trigger any upsetting memories since the action was so ridiculous
  • After that, you went out to eat at a pizza place in New York
  • The pizza was… “eh” at best. But you both still had a good time together
  • “Uh… I’d like to take you out… again, sometime, y/n… if you’d like?”
  • “As long as it’s not that pizza place again.”
  • “Oh, of course! Sorry about that, we won’t be eating there ag-”
  • “Bruce, I was kidding. Even if it was that pizza place, I’d still go out with you again.”
  • “…Really?”
  • “Yes.”

Thor

  • The Asgardian does not know what to do.
  • The man had to go to Valkyrie of all people for advice
  • She suggested drinking, of course
  • Then he went to Loki, who said that getting drunk was probably not the greatest first romantic impression to make
  • So, on the day of, you arrived at the Avengers Compound and found Thor a guilty mess, rambling on about how he doesn’t know what to do, or what you would want to do, or what normal Midgardians do
  • So naturally you comfort him, and say you know exactly what to do
  • You two literally take over the movie room of the Compound (we all know Tony had one built) with blankets and snacks and pillows and a pile of movies so tall you knew that even if you married the man you’d never get through watching them all
  • You build a perfect blanket fort and situate yourselves so the bowl of popcorn is between you and the drinks are reachable
  • It was a real struggle to pick what movie you should show him first - something action, or something that shows off special effects, or start him off with older stuff and work your way up to now
  • You ended up reading off titles of some of your favorites to him and he picked the one that sounded most interesting
  • Sometime halfway through the movie you ended up cuddling, half asleep, with the movie on in the background and the popcorn bowl moved far enough away to reach if you stretched but not close enough for you to bump into
  • And that was how the rest of the date was spent.

Clint Barton

  • You knew when he asked you out that you were in for a good time
  • Clint likes commitment, he’s a very stable guy, so you knew that he really does like you
  • He didn’t tell you where you were going, he only said to dress nice
  • He ended up picking you up for dinner in a tux, and you wore a dress
  • He’d gotten reservations at the newest five-star restaurant in New York
  • Smoooooooooooth guy
  • Probably one of the smoothest guys in the entire Avengers Compound (#underrated, stop hating on him)
  • You talked, you ate, you danced
    • The food was excellent. It ain’t five stars for no reason
  • Yes, there was dancing - Clint is actually a good dancer
  • If a bit of a show off…
  • You were dipped and spun multiple times on that dance floor
  • He even did a few spins of his own
  • He dropped you off back at your apartment like a gentleman
  • And since you’d liked each other and flirted for a long time before he asked you out, he asked if he could kiss you
  • He asked (consent is hot, prove me wrong, I dare you)
  • Obviously you said yes

Sam Wilson

  • Sam decided to take you out on the Wilson family boat
  • Since he’d gotten it all fixed up (with help), he couldn’t wait to have it out on the water again, and who better to go with than you?
  • You wear your favorite swimsuit
  • He packs a lunch and you both head out onto the water
  • Sam drives the boat, and you sit up there with him and talk
  • Sam’s a great guy, he loves to make you laugh
  • You could see the little flashes of triumph in his eyes whenever he managed to get a laugh out of you, and he always looked down with that smile of his when you laughed
  • Once you’re a ways out onto the water, you go up to the deck and eat lunch
  • Then you go swimming
  • You playfully splash each other and goof around in the water
  • After that, you sit together on the deck and watch the sunset with his arm around your shoulders
  • When you got back to the shore he gave you a kiss on the cheek goodbye

Bucky Barnes

  • Bucky is a super insecure person, as we all know, so Sam actually had to ask you out FOR him
  • But you still obviously said yes
  • Bucky freaked out on the day of about what he should wear. You arrived at the Avengers compound to find Sam and Steve practically shouting at him (aggressive encouragement)
  • They all shut up when you walked in, and Bucky stared at you with literal heart eyes when he saw you in your dress
  • He took you dancing
  • No surprise there, but it’s cute
  • Those heart eyes stayed on you the whole time
  • He admired everything about you - your personality, your eyes, the way your dress flowed around your figure whenever you moved
  • He was super hesitant to do or say anything at first - his hands on your waist were very light and gentle, like he wasn’t sure you’d want them there
  • But, overtime, as he got more relaxed, he talked more and became more confident
  • He finally smiled (really smiled) the first time you laughed at something he said
  • You were both super tired when you finished dancing a few hours later
  • But neither of you wanted the night to be over, so you walked to a diner that was open 24 hours and got something to eat
  • You continued talking for another hour or so
  • He dropped you off at your apartment and left you with a kiss on your hand

Loki

  • The fact that Loki asked you out at all had you stunned
  • Sure, you liked him, but he’d hidden his feelings for you very well
  • Until now, that is
  • He’d have loved to take you to Asgard, and show you the palace, gardens, and library
  • But obviously that’s… nonexistent now
  • So he settled for a library in New York
  • You went and found books together, checked them out, then headed to a coffee shop to get something to eat and drink, then came back to sit in the comfortable chairs in the library and read together
  • The library he’d picked was the absolute perfect place to read
    • Huge chairs that seemed to swallow you as soon as you sat down
    • Lamps that were just dim enough
    • Quiet classical music playing over the speakers
  • You spent the first few minutes reading your own books, not talking
  • Then you noticed what he was reading - Shakespeare’s Macbeth
  • You offered to read with him
    • “Shakespeare is always easier to understand aloud.”
  • So you spend the next hour or two reading the play together and drinking your coffee

T’Challa

  • T’Challa, being a king, had many events to attend
  • This next one was a sort of party (more like a “formal social event” than a party) that he had to host in the palace
  • Shuri had been bugging him about who he would ask to be his date, and was constantly teasing him about the fact that he liked you, so despite how much it pained him to prove his sister right, he decided to ask you if you would attend with him
  • You said yes, of course, but then were immediately worried about what to wear and what the press would say about you as T’Challa’s official date and what he would think of you and how to behave at the party and- well, pretty much everything
  • But you worried needlessly
  • Shuri helped you with your outfit, and T’Challa was stunned by your beauty. Shuri started cackling and almost fell to the floor with laughter
    • “I knew you would freeze!”
    • “Shut up.”
  • The party went perfectly fine
  • You had to greet a lot of guests very formally, which neither you nor T’Challa was especially excited about, but you had each other to talk to in between greetings, which made it bearable
  • You ate and laughed together
  • You danced together
  • You managed to look decently formal for the press, but still had a good time in each other’s company
  • The headline the next day in various news platforms around the world read “KING OF WAKANDA AND HIS FUTURE QUEEN?” with a photo of you two and various paragraphs following which all theorized ridiculous things about you two and all said something to the effect of “The two were more wrapped up in each other than the other party guests”
  • Shuri found it all hilarious, T’Challa was embarrassed, and so were you, but you also kind of liked it. You did like T’Challa, and hopefully this relationship would last.

Scott Lang

  • Scott didn’t actually ask you out on a date
  • It just kind of happened
  • Cassie had some friends over, and since you were friends with Scott, you decided to come help him handle them
    • Not that Cassie and her friends were too crazy, but a full house is a lot for any single parent
  • You hung out together in the kitchen and took turns bringing Cassie and her friends various snacks at timed intervals
  • You were alone in the kitchen after bringing her some snacks when silence fell
  • That was unusual for you and Scott - you were always talking and laughing together
  • You did have a bit of a crush on Scott, but you didn’t let yourself think on it too much
  • Alone time together with silence was the perfect time for your brain to involuntarily fantasize, though, which you were very annoyed by
  • You were both standing side by side, leaning on the counter
  • Was it you, or was Scott closer to you than he was a moment ago? Probably just you.
  • “Y/n?” You looked up at him. “Could I…” His glance moved down to your lips. “Could I kiss you?”
  • Your mouth pretty much fell open in surprise, and you stood there a moment in shock, before closing it, swallowing, and nodding. “Uh, yeah. Yeah, of course you can.”
  • And he did.
  • Aaaand then Cassie came downstairs to ask for something, ruining the moment
  • You both just laughed it off, handed her more snacks, and continued to hang out. He asked if helping out Cassie counted as your first date. You told him sure, it did.

Peter Quill

  • The Guardians were landed on a planet where there was a government that wanted to hire them for protection
  • Quill said that they needed the money, Rocket said the government sucked and they should die anyway, Gamora said that they had a responsibility as the Guardians of the Galaxy to help, and Drax suggested doing this and then infiltrating said government to take them down, since they were so horrible
  • In other words, Quill was stressed out.
  • He had a date with you planned for today, of all days, and he really needed the break, so he left the rest of the Guardians on the planet (Gamora could negotiate), and took you up in the Milano for a ride
  • He turned on music and you sang together as he flew through the stars
  •  He stopped just outside an asteroid belt and you stared in wonder at the rocks floating by for a moment, before he held his hand out to you
  • You grinned and took it, and he pulled you up out of your chair, and you danced together in the starlight

Peter Parker

  • Peter asked you out in the sweetest way possible - at school, stumbling over words.
    • “Look, y/n, I… uh, see, I’ve… for a really long time now, you… I just think you’re really pretty, and I can’t… do you like Italian food?”
    • “…Yes. Yes I do.”
    • “Cool. Me too. Would you… like to… get Italian food sometime? With me? Like… as a date?”
  • You’d liked Peter for a long time, so of course your immediate answer was yes
  • He stopped by your place, and you walked together to the Italian restaurant
  • He asked adorably if you’d be okay with holding hands, so you walked like that all the way there
  • It was one of those cute movie-style romantic places with the red checkered awning and tablecloths and outdoor metal chairs and tables with candles
  • You both ordered pasta (two different kinds. We ain’t doing Lady and the Tramp here people. Though on second thought that would be pretty cute)
  • He got a call partway through and looked pretty annoyed and distressed
  • You were somewhat worried, even though he assured you everything was okay
  • He said that May really needed his help with something - he mumbled something about her being sick and food on the stove and work
    • We all know he has Spider-Man business to attend to, but you didn’t know that at the time
  • You assure him it’s fine and that you had a good time talking to him anyway
  • He kind of grins and blushes as he pays the check as quick as he can
  • As soon as the waiter brings it back, he’s on his feet ready to go, saying how he’s sorry, and that he’ll call you later

Vision

  • The robot was fairly confused when he started having feelings for you - in fact, he asked you about it
  • You explained to him that it was called a crush, and you admitted that you felt the same way. He then asked what one does about a crush, and you explained dating and all that, and you assumed he was looking things up (he’s a walking Internet) as you spoke as well
  • Upon hearing all this, he asked you out
  • You said yes, and he looked very excited. His innocent happiness was very contagious.
  • You met him in the dining room of the Avengers Compound for your date, wondering why he asked you to meet him in the dining room, considering he can’t eat
  • But despite that, you found him setting out plates of steaming hot spaghetti and meatballs
  • You asked him what it all was, and he said that he read that dates were, most of the time, over food
  • So, he made you some
  • He watched intently while you took a bite
  • It was… okay?
  • The sauce didn’t have much flavor, and the meatballs were a bit overdone… but the noodles were perfectly cooked.
  • “Um… yeah. Yeah, it’s great, Vis.”
  • “Oh, good. I was nervous, since I’ve never actually… eaten anything.”
  • “No, yeah, this is good.”
  • You ate as much of it as you could while you talked with him
  • You found that you really did enjoy his company. This relationship would go somewhere, if you had anything to say about it

Pietro Maximoff

  • He asked you out like the smooth bastard he is - a simple sentence over breakfast at the Avengers Compound, like it was nothing
  • Of course, it was NOT nothing
  • He asked you to go running with him that morning
  • You said yes and were initially excited, until you realized… he’d asked you to go running…
  • Not that you didn’t run, but you had been asked out by the compound’s resident speedster
  • In other words… you were going to be humiliated.
  • You put on running shorts and a tank top and met him at the Compound gate to jog down to a semi-local coffee shop
  • He was wearing his usual blue shirt and some shorts
  • You each took an AirPod and listened to music the whole way down to the coffee shop
  • He was, of course, faster than you.
  • You were short of breath halfway through, and he was barely breaking a sweat
  • He went so far as to run backwards, facing you, just to show off and give you that smug smile of his
    • “You’re so slowwww!”
    • “Shut up! Not all of us have speed powers!”
    • “Do you need me to slow down for you?”
    • “No. Shut up and keep running.”
  • Despite his bragging, you still managed to talk and listen to the music the whole way down, and you got your coffee at the shop
  • The sustenance kept you going on the way back to the Compound
  • He asked if you’d go with him again tomorrow, and of course you said yes

Stephen Strange

  • You’d known Stephen for a while, but honestly didn’t think of him as the dating type
  • Despite this, he did ask you to hang out with him
  • You didn’t think of it as an actual date until he brought takeout back to the Sanctum Sanctorum, then you asked if it was a date, and he replied, “If you want it to be”
    • You did
  • You almost broke three different magical artifacts on accident before he decided to teach you what they are and how to use them
  • You got very excited, and asked him to actually teach you basic magic
  • He was super skeptical. “It’s not that easy, y/n.”
  • Despite his worries, you insisted
  • And so you spent the next three hours attempting to learn what magic was.
  • You failed epically.
  • You read whatever pages he pushed at you, you focused as hard as you could, you learned the hand motions, you knew what the mindset was supposed to be, but even with Stephen’s help, you got what seemed like nowhere
  • He assured you that it took him months to open a portal
  • “You know… if you wanted to keep learning, we could keep doing this.”
  • “Did you just use your status as Sorcerer Supreme to ask me to be your girlfriend?”
  • “Maybe.”
  • “Then yes.”

James “Rhodey” Rhodes

  • Rhodey is a military man. A good chunk of his personality revolves around the fact that he is a Colonel and that he is Tony’s best friend
  • He asked you out to an air museum
  • He was very excited about it
  • You got there, and he could tell you multiple facts about every single plane on display
  • You learned about fighter jets, the Tuskegee Airmen, the Jeeps they used in Vietnam, and even a WWII bomber aircraft was on display
  • You took a tour, you sat in the cockpit of a Vietnam-era fighter jet, you got food
    • Not that you needed the tour. Rhodey was spouting facts the whole time
  • You even got to ride in a WWII fighter jet flight simulator
    • Rhodey criticized it the whole time, since he’s in flight on a regular basis, but his remarks only made you laugh
  • Rhodey bought you a T-shirt in the gift shop
  • He got a matching one for himself
  • You could tell he had a good time - he wouldn’t stop talking on the ride home
  • Not that you minded, you had a good time too
  • He dropped you off at your house and asked if he could take you out again sometime
  • Of course you agreed
