Work Text:

Lilith hit the roof of his car, glancing over all the details he recently added, including leds that shined from the bottom of the car, a magnificent purple color. Music blasting from the radio in the car, waiting for the race to start.

Lilith glanced off to his right and saw Katie talking to Five about adding more Team Techor shit to their car probably. God, he hated Team Techor. Always trying to be flashy in the shows and knocking Lilith off the track. That won't happen at today's race.

Lilith turned his attention back to the race, looking at Icarus talking to people before the race.

The people surrounding Icarus were all some of Lilith's friends, including Dagda, who usually rode in the back of his car while they raced, and Glitchy, who instead of using cars to race, he used a motorcycle.

“So, are you ready for today's race?” The sound of the voice caught Lilith off guard, he turned his head rapidly to meet face to face with Flounders, the self-proclaimed leader of Team Techor, and the one who drove the car. “I always am.” Lilith sneered at the man.

Flounders laughed and threw a small wave and walked back to his car.

“He's so annoying.” Lilith thought to himself.

“Lilith!” The noise came from the crowd surrounding Icarus. The voice belonged to Dagda, who was running towards the man. “Hey dude, what's up?” Lilith asked while he leaned against his car, eager to start racing.

“Nothing much, but today I think I'm going to sit out racing with you! If that's ok of course!” The man asked.

“Yeah of course! I was planning on doing something different today anyways, something you wouldn't like…” Lilith turned his head towards the track, which was an alleyway, barely big enough for the two cars racing that day anyways.

Dagdas eyebrow raised, “Mind telling me?”

Lilith turned his attention back towards the man. “All you have to know, I may get a few dents in my car, but Team Techors car will be in worse shape.” Lilith winked and started opening the door to his car, seeing Icarus head out towards the track.

He settled into the driver seat, it was a place he’d been in for the past few years. It was accelerating to race. The screech of the tires on pavement, the smell of exhaust and fuel, the sweat dripping from your face when you're that close to first. Lilith loved all of it.

And he wasnt going to let Team Techor ruin his fun, not at today's race, and not ever again.

Lilith put on his purple helmet, adorned with many stickers that Dagda and Five had both put on his helmet without him knowing, and settled in for the best minutes of his life.

He tilted the mirror so he could see the ugly green car behind him, filled to the brim with many graffiti of Team Techor advertisements. Lilith brushed his hand over the switch to turn all the leds on his car on, and flicked the switch.

The car burst out with rays of purple, Lilith's clear favorite color.

The crowd cheered, as they knew the race was about to begin.

Lilith grabbed the gear shift and set it to drive, he had always known how to drive gear shift, it was his favorite way to drive and he won many races with this strategy.

In the mirror, Lilith could see Flounders wave towards the crowd and blow a kiss before he swung himself into his car.

Oh how excited Lilith was for even the idea of seeing the car totally wrecked.

He looked over to his right, the cars were both in a tunnel, sitting and waiting. On his right, Five stood. He flashed Lilith a smile and gave him a thumbs up, and hurried over to where both Dagda and Glitchy were sitting together.

He turned his attention back to both the road and the car sitting behind him.

Icarus finally walked out, flashing the green handkerchief that would start the race. Lilith wore a crop top with tight black pants, fishnets adorned their arms. If Lilith didn't know, he would have thought Icarus was a random hooker that came out to start the race, but he had known Icarus for years, and respected them for having their own sense of style.

Icarus raised their hand with the handkerchief, sweat poured out of Lilith. His hand tightened around the gear shift, feet pressing gently against the petals of the purple car.

Icarus flashed a smile, and dropped his hand.

The cars burst out of the tunnel, the smell of fuel filled the air.

Lilith wearily watched the green car as he maneuvered his own through the winding alleyway, waiting for the opportunity to strike.

The green car pulled ahead in a flash of smoke, “Perfect” Lilith said out loud to himself, as a smile grew on his face.
Lilith grabbed the gear shift and pushed it as far as possible coming up to the rear of Team Techors car, he gritted his teeth and braced for impact.

He rammed his beautiful car into the back of the musty green car, full force. His chest slammed harshly against his wheel, he knew a bruise would be there tomorrow. The sound of the crash echoed along the brick walls of the alley, Lilith knew everyone watching the race would know what happened just by the screeching sound of the metal crashing.

Smoke rose from the green car. As Lilith drew back to go around the car and finish the race, Katie angrily slammed open the door to the car.

“Faster, faster..” Lilith thought to himself as he pulled back from the wreck.

A fist pounded on his window as Lilith threw the gear shift into motion, lurching him forward.

His senses came back to him and he pushed the shift in a hurry, sweat beading on his forehead while he pant.

The car flew out of the alleyway as he glanced back in his rearview mirror, seeing Flounders crouching near the back of the car and Katie throwing her hands around in an angrily fashion. Lilith smirked.

Lilith swerved the car left and pressed harder on the gas pedal, determined to finish the race and repair his baby as soon as possible.

Icarus stood dumbstruck down the road, waiting for one car to come up victorious. Upon seeing the purple car be the one to round the corner, Icarus shakily raised their hand, knowing what happened in the alleyway, now over flooding with smoke.

Lilith's helmet felt heavy, the judges couldn't knock off points for this right? He knew the judging glare of Tyler, the head judge, always close to Rex, another racer who wasn't racing that day. Those glares would ward off any racer who did anything wrong, but Lilith had never bent to their will.

After leaving the “Coven” group due to so many other leaving, the main thing he had learnt there was to not let anyone get in his way of winning, and to not fear the judgement of the judges.

Lilith caught one more glance in his rearview mirror, making sure that Team Techor wasn't coming for him, and saw nothing.

He smirked one more time and flew past Icarus, creating a drift that made their hair fly back and catch them off guard.

Icarus’s hand flew down, signalling the end of the race.

Cheers erupted from the watchers, chanting his name.

“Lilith! Lilith! Lilith!”

Lilith's head rested down on his wheel, he had done what he had wanted to for a long time and he had won the race on top of that.

He ran his free hand over his tattooed arm.

He had done it.

Dagda and Five ran up to the car, staring down at Lilith, waiting for him to come out of the purple car.

When he raised his head up from its rested position, he could see the judges whispering to each other. He looked back at his friends and nodded at the judge table, telling them that he was worried without having to say anything.

Five and Dagda looked at each other and then looked back at the boy, who was now taking off his helmet.

They both opened up the car door and grabbed Liliths arms, pulling them out of their misery in the car.

“Dude! You did so well! You won!” Dagda exclaimed, wrapping their arms around the tattooed boy.

“Yeah you did, don't worry about the judges, theft dont matter.” Five calmly assured, resting a hand on Liliths shoulder.

Lilith rolled his head back.

“Thanks guys, but my fucking car is wrecked!”

“Not as bad as Team Techors car.” Five countered, looking at the car and most likely thinking about how he’d have to repaint all the graffiti they made on the front.

Lilith chuckled, and released himself from Dagdas grip.

He looked towards the judges table, who all stared at him disappointedly. It didn't bother him much, he had done what he wanted to do, and plus he crossed the finish line.

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Glitchy talking to Kentucky, probably asking him to rescue Team Techors car with his own car.

Glitchy rode a motorcycle, and no amount of motorcycles could pull the wrecked car out of the alleyway.

Icarus sauntered up to Lilith and patted his back “Good job out there! We could hear the crash from over here!” Icarus stated with a childish grin on their face. No matter how crazy their outfit was, Icarus truly was the most innocent person Lilith knew.

Lilith turned back and got into the driver seat of his car again, the race had been for no money, only bragging rights, which was stupid yes, but meant Lilith could leave quickly and not have to face the repercussions of his crash.

Lilith ushered to his friends to get into the car.

Dagda quickly joined Lilith upfront, knowing he wouldn't speed now that they were leaving.

Before Five followed Dagda in, they pulled Rice into the car.

Lilith had talked to the person a few times, and knew they wouldn't trash his car, so he nodded his head, allowing Rice into the led car.

Lilith locked the doors, just to make sure Katie wouldnt come and throw open his door again to yell at him, which had in fact happened before.

The engine of the car rumbled as Lilith put it into drive, he would have to bring it into the shop tomorrow he thought.

He put his tattooed hand back onto his own seat to look back to make sure he didn't hit a pedestrian, and backed the car out slowly, fearing to add to the damage already on the car.

Fuel filled the air once again as the car was set into drive as it finally backed out.

Lilith caught a glance back at the ending area of the race and saw Kentucky pulling his car out of the shadows, where it must have been parked before.

“What are you waiting on? Let's blow this joint!” Dagda complained, grabbing Lilith by the arm.

Lilith threw his head back and laughed, then set the car into motion, finally leaving the race area, and any consequence of the stunt he had pulled today.

Five grabbed the aux while him and Rice fought over which song to put on, Dagda put their feet up on the dashboard and leaned their head back.

“This was the way it was always supposed to be, and always will be.” Lilith chuckled to himself as a song finally blared over the aux. Perfect end to a perfect day.
