Work Text:
The gentle breeze that moved through the purple car was a nice relief after a long day of racing. Lilith pushed the gear shift into cruise and nodded his head along with the song that Rice and Five decided on to play.
Dagdas feet tapped in a steady rhythm to the beat against the dashboard, filled with stickers and random shit that had been placed on there by everyone that was in the car.
Lilith pushed down the windows to every spot in the car to let everyone enjoy the fresh breeze, the day had been a busy one, and had left the car in a dented shape. After ramming into Lilith’s number one rival, Team Techor, and leaving their car in a totalled state, the front of his beautiful car also suffered the consequences.
The song that had fueled the car a minute ago slowly faded out to a screamer song, an interesting choice for the two in the back to turn on, but Lilith didn't care much.
He pushed the volume as far up as it could go and he shifted the car into drive.
As soon as the new song started, the car flew off the road in time with the song, the passengers all bumped at the new speed of the car.
“What the fuck Lilith!” Dagda screamed whilst they gripped their seatbelt tighter, prepping for the wreck Dagda always believed Lilith would cause.
Lilith's laughs filled the air as he pressed down on the gas pedal harder, causing both Rice and Five to cheer and laugh as well in the back of the car.
The smell of fuel filled the car, due to the windows being open, but the passengers didn't care, they were invested in the ride.
The car flew over the open roads, the sounds of laughter and cheers followed the car as it ran along the bumpy country roads.
Lilith stared down at his bandaged fingers, having to be bandaged after the multiple times he had gripped the wheel too hard and cracked his knuckles.
This was what he had always wanted, to race, to have friends, to have his car out on open roads, just cruising along to music. It was the dream he’d always had.
He smiled to himself, he was just glad he got to spend his time with his best friends.
From behind him, a hand still covered with spray paint grabbed his tattooed arm, the green paint still left over from graffiti covered his shoulder.
“Dude where are we going?” Five asked. Lilith left his left hand on the wheel and turned around to face Five.
“We’re going to my house of course.” He responded, smirking.
Everyone in the car shared a look, nobody there had been to the boys house. He hadn't taken anyone to his house yet.
Lilith turned his attention back to the road, Dagda bent over and picked up the black helmet with purple stripes on it that Lilith called his own.
“Lilith, can I put more stickers on your helmet?” Dagda asked, giving Lilith puppy eyes.
“What the fuck, I mean you can, but why are you looking at me like that?” Lilith responded, taken back.
“Nice.” Dagda turned back towards the helmet and pushed a sticker to the top of the helmet.
“Let me put one on too!” Rice exclaimed while grabbing the helmet from Dagdas hand.
Lilith laughed and leaned back, finally putting down the volume of the car and set the car back to cruise, seeing his house in the distance.
His house had always been far from the city where his group of people raced at, it was a good 15 miles or so away, in long stretches of land.
The land was largely unused, only sometimes used by hunters when it was hunting season to look for deer in the woods near Liliths house.
He lived in isolation, and he liked it that way, he could drive freely along the long roads and land when he felt bored and felt the need to feel the pure adrenaline of the car, the way it moved along roads, the way it stuttered when it started, Lilith loved all of it.
Lilith pushed lightly onto the break, pulling into the driveway of the white house that LIlith called home.
The home was white woods with a brick base, it had a grey roof and was moderately large.
Everyone other than Lilith leaned out their windows to look at the foreign house. Nobody had been there, until today.
Lilith opened the door and got out of the car, “Welcome home, boys.” He chuckled.
Everyone else in the car burst out of their doors, forgetting the gear they had brought in to gaze at the new house they had just pulled into.
Lilith chuckled and walked up the driveway to the front door, where everyone else was already waiting like predators waiting to strike.
“You guys are really interested in my house eh?” Lilith noted nervously.
“I mean yeah, we haven't been able to see it yet!” Dagda countered.
“It's foreign!” Five added.
The tattooed boy chuckled, and pushed the gold key into the lock, and opened the door. Rice was the first one to burst into the door, their blue jacket swished in the wind from running into the white house.
Dagda and Five trailed shortly behind Rice, all eager to see Liliths house.
Lilith pressed his frame against the door, his tight black sleeveless shirt made him look ominous against the door.
Five first ran towards the kitchen, followed by Rice, while Dagda headed towards the living room, which were both connected with an open floor plan on the first level of the house.
Five set their bunny mask he usually wore on the island to look at everything in the marble kitchen, it housed rows of cabinets that were painted a dark brown, a silver refrigerator that had race dates magneted onto it, a black stove with a microwave overtop of it, and finally, a white marble island sitting in the middle.
The tattooed boy chuckled and joined his friend on the couch, which was a leather L shaped couch with a rug that housed a black painted coffee table on top of it.
Dagda slipped off their jacket and settled into the surprisingly comfy couch. “This place is nice, surprised you live here alone!” Dagda pointed out, and punched Lilith in the arm.
“Yeah well,” Lilith placed his arm onto the couch to look at both Dagda and the people raiding his kitchen, “ You guys are allowed over anytime you want to just crash here.”
“Oh yeah.” Lilith remembered, he got up grudgingly against his couch and headed up the rickety stares and disappeared upstairs.
The people left downstairs all shared a glance, what did Lilith have planned?
After a few seconds, the sound of footsteps upstairs could be heard again as Lilith headed back down the stairs.
In his hands, the boy carried a snow white husky pup with bright blue eyes. Lilith even looked starstruck by the tiny thing, which was a foreign look for him to have.
Everyone stopped what they were doing and raced to the bottom of the stairs to look at the small creature.
“You had a dog and you didn't tell us?” Rice questioned with an angry but also playful tone as they reached for the small dog.
Lilith laughed, “Yeah well, sometimes it's hard to live alone out this far, so I adopted this cute thing from the shelter nearby!” the pup squeaked a toy it had in its mouth as a form of agreement with what the boy had said.
He handed the dog to Rice, who was eagerly watching the dog, clearly wanting to hold it.
“What's their name?” Five questioned.
“Ollie, after my favorite trick!” Lilith grinned and placed a hand on the hem of his cargo pants.
Rice admired the dog, and stared at him lovingly while petting him, which the dog enjoyed very much while his tail wagged, sometimes thumping against the side of Rice's jacket.
“Can I have a turn holding Ollie??” Dagda begged, holding up his hands in a praying motion to Rice.
Rice looked at the dog, then back at Dagda and sighed. Handing over the small white puppy.
Dagda squealed in excitement and started petting the dog while talking to him in a voice you would if you were talking to a baby.
Five walked over to Dagda and gave the dog a quick pet then nodded to Lilith, “Hey Im gonna go work on redoing your car, my paint job is wearing off with the dent.” He sighed.
The tattooed boy nodded, and left the guy to do his work.
As Five left, Lilith saw him rummaging around his bag he always carried with him, probably looking for the right spray can.
Dagda looked at the boy and sighed, handing him back to Lilith. “I'm going to go see if I can fix the dent, and check to make sure nothing broke inside the car as well!” And just like that, it was Rice, Lilith, and Ollie left inside the house.
Lilith headed towards the kitchen, letting the dog down.
Ollie followed the boy towards the kitchen and sat patiently waiting at the side of the island.
Rice took a seat at one of the bar stools on the island and sat watching Lilith as he worked.
He scoured the cupboards until he found the right one, and he pulled out a big bag of dry food and a can of wet food for puppies.
“What are you doing?” Rice questioned.
“Making Ollie's dinner, I'll have to take him outside in a bit, do you want to join me?” Lilith asked, not taking his eyes away from the preparations of the food for the dog.
Rice nodded and continued watching Lilith.
Finally, he set down the bowls of food and water for the dog, and Ollie bounced up and raced towards the food.
Lilith laughed, “He's got his fathers eagerness.” Clearly indicating himself as the dog's father.
“Yeah, I've seen you race, I believe that fully heartedly.” Rice adds, leaning back on the barstool.
The tattooed boy turned his attention back to Rice, “Do you enjoy the racing? Like watching them I mean”
Rice sat and waited for a bit, “Yeah, I do, Five lets me watch with them and it's fun riding in your car!” they grinned.
Rice looked over at the dog, “He's done eating.”
“I suppose he is!” Lilith laughed.
He walked over to the front door and grabbed a leash sitting near the door, “Just in case he decides to run! I normally leave him off leash, but just in case, I can quickly grab him and leash em up if he tries to bolt!” Lilith assured.
The person sitting at the island nodded and pushed themself off the sitting they were sitting in and headed towards the clear patio door, leading towards the wide landscape behind Liliths house.
Lilith went over and picked up the white pup and carried him over to the door, which Rice had already gone out of.
He set the dog down on the grass and let him roam, leaving him to do his business.
Over the house, he could hear the clacking and spraying of the work his friends were doing to his car. He was so grateful for them, they were repairing his car and probably making it better for no fee.
“Your dog is coming back!” Rice interrupted the silence the two had to point out the fact Ollie was ready to go back inside and probably nap for the rest of the day.
Lilith opened the door which the dog sauntered into, and took his place on the couch.
“Rice, you can take off your jacket you know?” Lilith pointed out the blue jacket that rice was wearing, the white t-shirt underneath it could be way more cooling for the warm day it was.
“I know, but I don't really want to.” Rice shifted uncomfortably.
“Oh sorry, I might have hit a nerve there.” Lilith apologized, holding a hand behind his head in a sorry motion.
“Oh no you're fine! Just don't feel like taking it off right now!” Rice said, walking over and picking up Five's bunny mask which he had left behind.
Just then, Dagda burst through the door, “Hey guys! So your car wasn't in that bad of shape really, the dent was easy to pop back out, and only one wire was out of place, overall, easy job and now your car’s as good as new!” Dagda said with pride, “Oh yeah, Five is almost done with the paint job as well if you want to go see it!”
Both Rice and Lilith looked at each other, then they burst out the door, wanting to see their work their friends had done.
As soon as the two reached outside, they saw Five wiping their forehead with a hand covered in spray paint.
Five noticed the two eagerly bouncing up and down, wanting to see the car. Five chuckled, “Alright, here it is.” Five did a little jazz hand motion and pointed to the car.
The leds were turned off for repair purposes, but the car looked as beautiful as ever. The dent was no longer visible and no scratches were on the pearlescent purple car, the graffiti art on the front was brand new, with an image of a huge crown that had been there before.
Lilith ran up and hugged Five in a bear hug, surprising the boy. The fabric from Five's letterman jacket got in his eyes, but he didnt care, he was just glad to have Five as a friend.
Five took off the gas mask he usually wears to paint, and gave Lilith a huge smile.
Once the two were done hugging, Rice handed Five their bunny mask back and they all went back inside to find Dagda asleep on the couch, holding the dog.
“So, how do you guys feel about a sleepover?” Lilith asked after seeing Dagda.
Five and Rice shared a look, then turned back and nodded wildly at the boy.
Lilith grinned and pointed the boys to separate guest rooms, one downstairs and one upstairs, next to the room Lilith slept in.
Everyone went their separate ways.
“Now this, this was the true perfect ending to a perfect day.” Lilith thought to himself as he let himself drift off to sleep.
