Work Text:
Neither of us wanted to be alone
neither of us wanted to face the demons
that lived in our hearts and heads.
Sometimes demons that were obvious,
sometimes demons that were invisible.
You and me,
like flipping a coin.
You were the bad one, the bad influence,
I was the good one, the one they always
always underestimated.
Meeting in the train that day,
me in my shabby robes,
you looking like a God.
I never would have thought,
you and I.
I never would have dreamed,
you and I.
Yet here we stand,
face to face,
the rain dripping,
flooding the world around us.
Neither of us want to be alone
anymore
neither of us want to continue
to deny these feelings.
I made mistakes,
I jumped to conclusions,
thinking I was only being
used, that you only wanted me
to throw in your father's face,
to give him yet another reason
to hate you, disown you.
I never thought,
you and I.
I never dreamed,
you and I.
Yet, now, now we're standing
face to face,
you're on the front steps of my
flat,
you're on your knees,
begging me to give you another
chance,
to give you my heart,
the same heart I thought you'd
broken.
I should have seen it then,
seen how wrong I was,
there was always something
behind those dark eyes,
something only I could see,
a sadness, something you wanted to keep
hidden,
but you never could fully lie to me,
A second chance,
all you're asking,
and I'm wishing I'd never
messed up our first one,
I'm giving you a second chance,
I'll give you a third and fourth,
because I never thought,
you and I.
I never dreamed,
you and I,
yet here we are,
standing face to face,
letting the world see us together,
letting the world realize I was wrong
to leave you in the first place.
You always were a bit
over dramatic,
a bit over the top,
and now you're on stage,
asking for my hand in a song
I'm a hundred percent certain
you wrote on the spot.
Have I any other choice than
to say 'yes'?
Could I ever say 'no' to you again?
Face to face,
exchanging vows,
promising each other forever,
you and I.
