Oikawa shot up in bed and immediately tears were streaming down his face as images of the nightmare ran through his mind. Iwaizumi who was reading and had not yet fallen asleep of course noticed this.
“Tooru hey hey shh it’s alright you’re okay just let it all out,” Iwaizumi said pulling Oikawa into a hug. Once Oikawa was calmer he pulled away from the hug. Iwaizumi then asked, “Do you want to talk about it?” Oikawa then nodded and started to explain what the nightmare had been about. Iwaizumi’s fingers making their way into Tooru’s hair and playing with it whispering reassurances as Oikawa’s description got scarier and darker.
Once Oikawa was done he buried his face into Iwaizumi’s chest and Iwaizumi placed a kiss on top of Tooru’s head.
“Love hey it’s alright I’m right here and you’re here safe next to me,” Iwaizumi said, lacing his and Oikawa’s hands together.
“Thanks Iwa I really needed that I love you,” Oikawa responded, squeezing Iwaizumi’s hand smiling as he squeezed back.
“I love you too, Tooru,” Iwaizumi said, giving Oikawa a soft kiss on his forehead.
“I really don’t want to go back to sleep yet, can we just stay like this for a while?” Oikawa asked, still shaken up from the nightmare.
“Of course we can Tooru,” Iwaizumi responded, placing another kiss on Oikawa’s forehead. The pair of them eventually fell asleep, and Oikawa felt much safer knowing that Iwaizumi was with him.
