Work Text:

“I didn’t think I would be streaming the start of World war III, but here we are,” Tommy said. The joke was meant to lighten the mood but the fear was clear in his voice.

He tightened his arms around Tubbo, being called clingy was the last of his concerns, as he heard another building collapse.

The fleet of bombers had left, but that had not meant the end of the destruction. There were fires everywhere.

Tubbo had seen the planes coming first, filming them, and asking chat whether they knew if there was some national parade going on. But then the explosions started and they both quickly realised this was not just a show.

Tubbo had pulled him into an alley, behind one of the big iron garbage containers, saying that it would protect them from shrapnel flying around. But with the building collapsing around them, Tommy wasn’t sure anymore whether it was the safest option to be in an alley.

There had been tension between the world leaders recently, but nobody had expected there to be an actual full-blown war starting today. None of them spoke it out loud, but they both wondered ‘How could everything have gone bad so quickly?’

The sounds of planes slowly became louder again.

“They are coming back,” Tubbo said.

Tubbo looked up at the sky. In the distance, he could see little black spots falling through the sky, like cursed falling stars. The explosions came a few seconds after. Growing louder and louder. The fleet of bombers would go directly over them.

“Sorry for asking you to come to London with me,” Tommy said. He couldn’t help but feel guilty about being the reason why they were here today.

“Wrong place, wrong time, Big Man,” Tubbo responded, tearing his eyes from the sky to look at Tommy. “It’s not your fault.”

The explosions grew louder and louder, until they could barely hear each other.

“I would do it all over again,” Tubbo continued. “Being friends with you, all the streams, all the vlogs, I would do it all again even if I knew it would end like this.”

Tommy hugged Tubbo tight, hiding his face in his friend's shirt. “Thank you for being my best friend,” it was muffled, and it was a miracle Tubbo heard it above all the explosions.

Tubbo looked up at the sky again. One of the planes was directly above them, and there was a black dot falling out of it that quickly grew in size.

“Thank you for being mine,”

He couldn’t remove his eyes from the bomb, it would fall on the street in front of the alley. He knew they were way too close to it to ever survive its blast.

He watched as the bomb hit the ground and everything went white, blinding him, and then there was heat, so much heat.

He might have screamed, Tommy might have screamed. But if they did, it fell on already deafened ears.

And then there was just… nothing.

Across the world, thousands of screens showed the same message:

“The stream you were watching has ended”

Notes:

This is actually a sort of prologue to another story I am going to write that is going to be very long and is very cool in my head. Now to actually write it.
If you like to suffer, then you're going to enjoy the "reincarnated but only one of them remembers and they are enemies in their new life" au that I am planning :D
Also I live for kudo's and comments, so give me feedback and validation please :)
