The Technicalities of Destroying the World for Evil Purposes

Summary:

“I am going to destroy the world.”
“Then where are you going to live?”

Notes:

I saw a meme on Tumblr the other day and just had to write this. This is very silly and funny and I had a lot of fun writing it, so I hope you enjoy it too!

Work Text:

“I am going to destroy the world.”

Oh, there it was, the signature beginning of the usual malicious monologuing. It was pretty much part of their routine now, happening often enough for her to start expecting it. When normally she would try to listen for hints of the schemes he kept under wraps, today she was just not having it.

Today was one of those cursed days: a bad grade, a canceled appointment, half of her crystals just coincidentally running out of energy at the same time, arriving late at work and being left with clean-up duty, a certain annoyance leaving all of his greasy finger imprints all over her favorite sword, someone else buying the last triple chocolate fairy dust muffin… the last thing she needed was to listen to a semi-competent villain go on a rant for the umpteenth time.

The sigh she gave could probably be heard from the castle. “Then where are you going to live?”

He abruptly stopped in his tracks, almost stopping his levitation completely. “What?”

“Yeah, genius. If you destroy the world and then there’s no world, where does that leave you?”

If her hands had not been tied tightly behind her back, she would’ve definitely facepalmed at the look of genuine confusion that took over his face. Instead, she settled for distracting him further in order to plot her escape, she had front-row tickets for the opening night of her favorite play, and she did not want to be late.

“Like, yeah, you’re waking up the ancient demons to destroy humanity, but you’re still human, you know? Did you think they were just gonna spare you?” She made a point of making her exasperation evident in her voice. “They’re the ANCIENT DEMONS, they can’t be controlled.”

“Uh…”

For one of the most feared villains in the country, sometimes he managed to act like a clueless 5-year-old kid, she wanted to rip her hair off. “Did you even have a plan?”

“I… honestly, I didn’t think I would get this far.”

She rolled her eyes so hard she felt a headache coming on, she so didn’t have time for this. “Just let me go, dude. I’m not feeling it today.”

For the first time in their whole rivalship, he seemed to actually start considering her words. Unfortunately, he was thinking so profoundly he was starting to ignore her presence in the room.

“Are you gonna have a crisis right now? ‘Cuz that would be super inconvenient for me.”

“I… I gotta go.” He started to make his way towards the only door in the room.

“Okay, we are finishing our meeting early, no problem. Just let me go first.” She urged.

“I’ve been working on this plan for years.” He said to himself.

Concern started taking over her, was he just gonna forget about her completely while he reevaluated his life choices? “Dude, I’m right here!”

“Have I been wasting my whole life?”

“HEY! You can’t seriously just leave me here-“ The heavy metal door dragging across the floor drowned out the rest of her words. He just continued as if in a trance, leaving the room and closing the door behind him, while taking the keys that would open her chains with him.

She stood there irritated and speechless, the sound of the door being locked mocking her.

Just great.
