Chapter Text
Cold. Bitter cold.
Training was never much fun when Levi got to be in charge, but during winter it was so much worse. That shorty could care less about what the weather was like. Rain, sun, snow, you name it. As long as it wouldn't kill us, we trained outside.
You looked over to your right, seeing Annie walk up to Mikasa. You chuckled, seeing those two practice together was always interesting. It was truly a gamble as to who would win and walk away, and who would end up lying on the ground. Both of them were talented, and everyone knew that. You saw a couple others glance over for a moment, but you ended up looking away to focus on your own training.

A few hours later, Levi finally called the training to an end for the day and let everyone go inside.
Everyone scrambled into the mess hall to get some dinner, shivering as they got their food. You were no exception, you were practically shaking. After all, it was probably near below freezing outside. You let out a low curse under your breath as you walked to your table, wishing Levi would give training out in the cold a rest for once.
You sat down next to Mikasa, who quickly took note of your excess shivering and put her scarf around you, muttering a soft "here". She only did this a few times before, since this scarf was so important to her, but you thanked her each time.
As you ate your meal, everyone suddenly stopped talking when something, or rather someone ran into the door of the mess hall.
A loud "Ow!" could be heard from outside before the door was opened.
Sasha stepped back, letting Hange enter before closing the door and going back to her food.
You scoffed, of course it was her. Hange was always running around and, often, running into everything. You didn't know how she became a commander, since the only times you really saw her was when they were either going on about titans, or eating in the mess hall.
Others like Hange, including the other commanders. You, however, tended to find them rather annoying. Yes, you respected her since she's your superior, but you still couldn't help but think she was weird.
You listened to the conversations around you start up again as you went back to eating. You were about to take a bite of your bread when you heard someone beside you ask "You gonna eat that?"
You didn't even have to turn around to know who it was.
With a sigh, you handed the bread to Sasha, letting out a low "Fine, here you go." As she gladly took the bread from your hand.
Mikasa smile, let out a low chuckle as she split her bread in half, giving you one of the halves.
"Thanks." You told her, hesitating a moment before taking the bread.
"You really need to stop giving Sasha your food, you barely had any to begin with and we all know she's a food monster." Mikasa stated, a bit of concern lingering in her voice.
"I am not!" Sasha argued, earning a glare from pretty much everyone at the table. She let out a laugh. "Okay maybe I am." She went back to eating the bread.
You let out a soft chuckle, turning to Mikasa. "I'm just never super hungry, but don't worry about me."
She nodded.
You heard footsteps coming towards your table, looking up to see Hange walking towards you guys.
"I've been informed I'll be in charge of your training tomorrow, so I'm letting you guys know ahead of time." They stated, a huge smile forming on their face.
Great. Just great.
Everyone at the table looked relieved though.
"Thank Sheena, we won't have to deal with Levi tomorrow." Armin laughed.
"You're just mad because Levi yelled at you today." Eren stated, poking Armin's shoulder with a chuckle.
Armin's head spun around to look at Eren "Hey! You said you wouldn't mention that!" He huffed.
Eren shrugged. "Whoops." He smirked, Armin was clearly not amused though.
The table had erupted with laughter, even Mikasa was laughing.
"I see Levi has been working you guys hard then, well don't expect me to go easy on you!" Hange chuckled, which mad everyone go silent.
"Oh, please, I'm kidding. I'm not ruthless like that short stack over there," She pointed towards where Levi sat. He was facing away from you, instead facing towards Erwin.
Speaking of Levi, a moment later his voice could be heard as he beckoned Hange back over, clearly having something to discuss with the commander.
"Seems I must be going then." She glanced at you with a smile, pausing for a second before glancing at the others. "See you all tomorrow, bright and early." And with that, they walked away.
A few at the table let out a groan, of course she'd make you train a the crack of dawn. What fun.
But while everyone else slowly went back to their previous conversations, you couldn't help but what what the heck that was for. She has paused for at least 30 seconds, looking specifically right at you. You had just awkwardly darted your eyes around, glancing at anything but Hange.
But that was over now, and you quickly snapped back to reality when you felt Mikasa softly pull at her scarf, which was still around you.
"Oh, sorry, here." You apologized, taking the scarf off and handing it to her.
"No, it's fine." She said, putting the scarf back around herself.
A few moments later everyone started shuffling out of the mess hall and into the dorms.
You let out a yawn as you stretched, walking back towards the dorms with everyone.
"Do you want the top bed tonight?" You heard Mikasa ask.
"Oh sure." You answered, smiling at her.
People often switched around to different beds at random, especially if someone was having trouble sleeping they'd see if a different bed helped at all. Sure they might be the same beds, but for some reason switching to a different one every now and then seemed to work like magic.
You prepared yourself mentally for the day ahead as you got out of your gear and into more comfortable, casual clothes before climbing into bed.
You closed your eyes, taking a deep breath.
You felt a hand on your right arm, turning to see Mikasa.
"Night." She said, giving a soft smile towards you before she let your arm go, climbing into the bed below you.
"Goodnight."

You were awoken by the sound of the dorm room's door being swung open, slamming against the wall.
"Alright, everyone up!" Hange yelled. "Meet me outside in 10 minutes."
Everyone groaned, a few getting out of bed right away while others either sat up or just rolled over.
"Hey, I warned you we'd be training early today, don't give that reaction. Now come on, the faster we train the sooner we can have breakfast." She stated, which got all of one person excited. Sasha.
Hange turned and exited the room, closing the door behind them but you could still hear her footsteps as she walked away.
You got out of your bed, almost falling over before you managed to catch yourself and get your balance back to normal.
You got changed pretty quickly, walking out within a few minutes with everyone else.
Outside everyone's ODM gear was waiting for them.
"I'll be taking you outside the walls this morning for some training." Hange explained, which got everyone excited as they started putting on their gear and lining up in front of Hange.
"Everyone ready? Great. Let's go." Hange stated.

You all had road out on horseback, following closely behind the commander.
"Where is she taking us?" You heard Eren ask, though nobody answered. Granted, nobody really knew where they were going either.
"Beats me." You heard Jean say behind you.
"Make sure you stay close to me, there might be titans out here." You heard someone say, though you realized it wasn't directed towards you when you saw Ymir and Christa.
You chuckled. Those two were so cute together.
"Oh, Ymir, I'll be fine." Christa stated with a smile.
"Hmm.. Yeah, I know, but still." Ymir tried to argue.
"Hey if she needs protected, I'll be here as well." Reiner said, coming up beside Ymir. Big mistake, by the way.
Ymir stretched out her leg and kicked him right in the face, knocking him off his horse.
"Good luck with that! Lay your hands on my Christa and your dead meat, Reiner. You got that?" Ymir shouted as Reiner struggled to get back on his horse.
Laughed erupted once again in the group, Reiner let out a huff as he got his horse moving again.
After few moments later Hange finally started to slow down, you were near a forest.
"Ah, we're here." You heard them say proudly. "Everyone off your horses, practice flying through the trees with your ODM gear. I have some fake titans set up for you to also practice your aim on. Make sure to cut deep." She remined everyone, though she now had that weird voice she got when she talked about titans whether or not they were fake.
You let out a sigh, getting off your horse.
"Nooo Christa wait for me!" Ymir cried, seeing Christa as one of the first to fly through the trees with her gear. Ymir quickly followed behind, though quickly focused on finding the fake titans after a moment instead of being such a lesbian.
You followed after them, Sasha and Connie following after you followed by the golden trio.
It was quiet in the trees, but nice. Peaceful. I mean, there were just fake titans, right? You didn't have to worry about real ones showing up, yeah?
You quickly spotted one, but saw Eren out of the corner of your eye heading for the same fake.
"You can try all you want, Yeager, but you can't beat me!" You shouted, zipping through the trees towards the 'titan', slicing the fake nape and cutting it rather deep.
"Nice job, Y/n!" You heard Christa say, flying past you.

Awhile later all the fakes had been "killed" and you all were starting to head back to where Hange was, who had bee observing you all during the training.
You all landed on the ground, waiting for everyone to gather before Hange spoke again. "We're gonna do a little bit more training, but back inside the walls. Let's get going." She said. "I wanna check on Sawny and Bean while you guys train." Her voice had turned into that weird tone she used whenever she mentioned experiments or titans.
You groaned, she was so annoying at times. You hated that voice she did.
You all got back on your horses and began riding towards the walls.
You were out in the open when suddenly everyone stopped, so, naturally, you stopped, too.
You were confused though, but you weren't the only one.
You glanced around.
Silence.
And then you heard it.
And the next thing you knew, you saw them.
Titans. Real titans. Heading straight for you guys.
