"This is crazy, Anna! We can't hitchhike!"
"Well, we ended up miles away from the beach near our Airbnb. Not sure how we managed that, but it's getting dark, and, besides, I think this is a military base!"
"Oh, fine. Here comes a car. Stick out your thumb."
"Me?"
"Yes, Anna, this is your idea, isn't it?"
"Fine!"
She stuck out her thumb, just like she'd seen in the movies.
"It worked!" her friend squealed.
"It worked? Oh, I mean, sure… hello?"
The car pulled over and the window opened.
"You ladies hitchhiking? Doesn't seem like such a good idea."
