Chapter Text
Late nineties.
Detective Mobius works for the New York Police Department and is the best at his job. So good in fact, that chief Renslayer tasks him with a special case. Someone is killing police deputies all over the city. The clues strongly pinpoint Loki, a disgraced socialite.
Coming from an aristocratic family in northern Europe with ties to royalty, this man was once respected, but after a series of scandals his name is tarnished in the circles. Not only that, but also his family wants nothing to do with him. He slowly sinks lower and lower, living without rules and having run-ins with the NYPD, until he’s taken in as the suspect.
With all the odds stacked against him, Loki claims he isn’t the killer. Moreover, he thinks someone he has a feud with is framing him. Much to everyone’s surprise, Mobius believes the man and presents an offer: Loki will help him find the serial killer in turn getting a place to stay in detective's apartment and the chance at turning over a new leaf.
That’s because Mobius has already seen people like Loki: exiled from their homes, broken and very close to reaching the point of no return. Despite many years of dealing with the worst criminals, he still believes in redemption.
That’s how begins the very unlikely and rocky partnership between two men who may have more in common than they at first believe.
