Work Text:
Bright wakes up with a dull headache. He groans quietly as he wishes to bury himself on the soft duvet, hoping it will help him go back to sleep but his alarm decides that it's the best time to make a noise.
I don't wanna go to school, he thinks with his head wrapped around a thick cloud of sleep. With grabby hands, he reaches for the comforter that pools around his thighs and is about to cover his head with it when he hears an amused and soft chuckle from the bedroom door.
Slowly pulling down his comforter to his waist, Bright sleepily blinks up to the silhouette of the older guy leaning on the door frame. His lips form a petulant pout as he squints his eyes to get a clearer view but all he gets is the throbbing in between his eyebrows spreading to his forehead.
"Slept late?" a low, and soft voice asks as Bright feels warm fingers caress his forehead. He hums as a response. The side of his bed dips with an additional weight and he scoots closer to the warm body, draping himself on top of him. "Sweet cakes, you have school today."
"Five minutes, Win, please?" he appeals as he burrows his head to the older's chest. "I promise, I'll fix my sleep schedule tonight."
"You also said that a month ago, Vachi."
"It's hard. I don't wanna be in college anymore, Winnie," he whines, childishly, as he inhales his morning scent.
"Baby, you're a freshman in his second semester. What's hard, hmm?" Win asks, amused with his younger boyfriend. He brings up a hand to cup the side of his head and caresses his face.
Bright shakes his head and props his chin on Win's chest and stares at him sleepily. "You call me so many names, Win."
The older one smiles and drops a kiss on his forehead, taking note of Bright's flushed cheeks. "I enjoy making you blush, sweetie. Are you awake now? Want me to start the coffee?"
"Noooo," Bright rolls off his body and covers his face with a soft pillow which earns another amused laughter from his boyfriend. Win strokes his hair gently for a few seconds before getting off the bed.
"Breakfast is ready when you are, love. I'll drive you to the university, hmm?"
Bright just groans in response and burrows himself further on his bedsheets.
Five more minutes later, with his blanket draped over his shoulders and his eyeglasses settled awkwardly on his face, Bright is making his way to their kitchen where he finds Win standing in front of their coffee-making machine, waiting for the coffee to finish brewing.
He languidly leans his head on his boyfriend's broad back and yawns loudly that it takes Win a lot not to laugh out loud.
"Good morning, bub," he greets the sleepy guy instead as he faces him. His eyes sparkle as he takes in how adorable Bright looks with the comforter and skewed specs. He fixes the eyeglasses for him before resting his palms on his shoulders. "Eggs or meat loaf?"
"Coffee, please? No sugar and cream."
"Okay, and…?"
A cute little pout forms on the younger's heart-shaped lips. "Koko Krunch, please?"
"Alright, little duck," Win snorts, smoothing Bright's bed hair. "Take your seat, I'll get your breakfast for you."
"Ohh-kay," the younger agrees with another big yawn. "Are you going to be busy today, Attorney?"
"Yes, Sir," Win answers while getting a carton of fresh milk from the cupboard. "Atty. Adulkittiporn and I will be working on a really difficult case but that's not until this afternoon. I am scheduled to visit a client this morning after I drop you off the campus."
"Oh," Bright murmurs, brushing off the sleep from his eyes as he lets out another yawn. "Does that mean you'll be home late?"
"Probably, babe," he says while he pours the Koko Krunch on Bright's big cereal bowl before pouring in the milk. Once done, he brings it to the table and puts it in front of a half-awake Bright. "Eat your cereal, bub. I'll get your coffee in a few, hmm?"
"Hmm, thank you," he whispers before reaching for his spoon. The older just pats his cheeks gently before walking back to the side where the coffee-maker is.
The rich scent of freshly brewed coffee floods their kitchen as Win delicately pours it in their mugs. Bright takes a deep breath, inhaling his favorite aroma and feels the sleep slowly ebbing away as soon as it hits his nose.
"You love that, hon?" Win smiles as he slides Bright's mug in front of him and the younger immediately brings it in front of his face to inhale the scent. "Be careful, it's hot."
Bright's lips smile behind his mug which he knows he fails to hide because Win just coos at him before he also drinks his coffee as they engage in a light conversation to fully start their day.
Despite Bright's troubles of waking up early, morning is still his favorite part of the day, most particularly this—talking with his older boyfriend about his day over freshly brewed coffee just before they get up and take a bath to prepare for their own schedules.
Mornings are the best part of each day as it is slow and their lives outside their loft haven't started yet. He understands Win's a busy person that's why he does not want to cling on to the older for his attention and time when he's working.
And Win's equally undemanding. He knows that Bright is fairly young and he wants his lover to explore his youth without Win hovering around him like a possessive asshole. He surely knows better than that.
That is why mornings are to be treasured. It mirrors their patience for each other as they allow themselves to grow outside their relationship. Hot coffees, in whichever flavor or mix, are to look forward to as each sip taken with secret smiles and smitten stares carries a promise the two only understand.
"Baby, I think we need to visit the optical clinic. Let's get you contact lenses?" Win says while they are in front of the mirror, fixing themselves. He reaches for Bright's specs and stares at it while testing it on his palm. "This is quite heavy already, don't you think?"
Bright squints, almost blind without the eyeglasses. "I'm scared it will hurt."
"It's uncomfortable at first but it doesn't hurt," he says while putting it back on his boyfriend's face. "Wanna check and try? I'm free this weekend."
Bright obviously perks up at that. "You are? Can we also go to that newly opened coffee shop downtown? It's near the optical clinic!"
"You and your caffeine," he teases while straightening the crease on Bright's white polo using his palms. "So, it's a date?"
"It's a date."
