Work Text:
Shouta would say he’s a very observant person. However, as of recently, he seemed to be missing something that may or may not be going on between two of his students. More specifically, Problem Child One and Problem Child Two, aka Bakugou Katsuki and Midoriya Izuku.
While Shouta could say that maybe the two of them were just settling their differences away from Shouta’s gaze, the way that the two interacted had a weird “spark” that the man couldn’t exactly put his finger on.
1
The first time that Shouta could say that he saw this “spark” was a weekend afternoon.
Walking into the dorms was always a mixed bag. Some days it was calm, some days it was active, and on really unlucky days...it was chaos. However, today was Shouta’s lucky day as when he walked in to do his routine check on the class, it was pretty calm.
No students seemed to be in the living room, or so he thought. As he walked to the elevator Shouta was startled to hear booming laughter coming from the couch he had just passed. Doubling back as the laughter continued, Shouta was almost shocked to find Bakugou and Midoriya seemingly laughing their asses off from a joke that they’d seen.
“O-Oh my god. Deku! Where did you find that shit!” Bakugou barked, but Midoriya could only laugh harder.
Shouta stood over the two as they laughed and the two almost as quickly noticed their teacher, but still laid on the floor, Red and Green Eyes staring back at him.
“H-Hey Mr. Aizawa! How are you today?” Midoriya giggles. He was clutching his phone and his cheeks were flushed. Shouta assumes it was from how they were laughing.
“I’m just checking in on everyone, do you two need anything?” Shouta looked at the two boys who were still laughing their asses off. After both of them puffing out negatives on needing anything he decided to move on.
It wasn’t until the elevator doors closed, that Shouta realized that Midoriya was wearing one of Bakugou’s skull shirts.

It was a sunny day at Yuuei so, like most people, Class 1-A wanted to do something outside much to Shouta’s annoyance. He was the type of person who preferred to stay indoors.
Unfortunately, though, they knew how to work him...and much to his class’ happiness and Shouta’s dismay, they had convinced him to let them go to a nearby park for a picnic day. The only stipulation being that they had to stay where Shouta could see them.
It honestly brought Shouta a sense of pride to see his class acting like the teenagers that they are. He pushes them hard, but he can only hope that his teachings save others and their own lives when the time comes. If there was one thing that Shouta didn’t want to happen, was for his class to lose a classmate to the 80%. It looks Shouta a second thought to shake himself out of such morbid worries. It was a sunny day.
Shouta scanned the park field attentively, keeping his eyes on his class. Kirishima, Sero, and Kaminari were climbing a tree, while Yaoyoruzu and Iida prepared the lunch that Ashido and Bakugou to be eaten, and the rest of the class just enjoying the sun in various ways.
As Shouta kept watch, He could admit that his class was generally good at listening to his directions, but there will always be one or two students that stray a little too far and test what they could get away with. It wasn't maliciously done with malicious intent, that was for sure, but it still happened on the off-hand.
Today, it seemed to be Bakugou and Midoriya. While Shouta would admit that they were technically in his eyesight, they were too far for his own comfort. The two boys seemed to be sitting at the edge of the lake with their feet in the water as if to cool off.
What was interesting though was the vibrant conversation the two seemed to be having. Midoriya animatedly talked, and Bakugou looked both confused and interested in what the greenette had to say. It was almost like a trance, the two seemingly in their own world. While wanting to encourage the behavior, Shouta still had a job to do, unfortunately.
“Bakugou! Midoriya! Come closer to the group!” Shouta called to them. The two boys broke instantly from whatever the weird trance was and snapped to pay attention to the teacher.
“Yes, Mr. Aizawa!” He heard Midoriya yell back. Bakugou nodded as the two got up from the lake and separating off into their own friend groups. Internally Shouta kicked himself, as the moments where the two problem children got along were thin and far between.
Aizawa could only realize after they left that he saw the weird “spark” between the two boys again that day.

Yuuei had a gym policy. In order to use the gym after school or early you had to ask permission from your homeroom teacher. Then from there, they’d essentially grant you access to the gym using your school ID for the allotted time.
The reason for the whole system was for a couple of reasons. The first being tracking. Yuuei needed to have a general idea of where students were on campus at all times. If something were to happen on campus, knowing where all the students make this easier for everyone.
The second reason being gym safety. Students getting hurt in the gyms wasn’t uncommon. Accidents happen, it’s a part of life and with hundreds of teenagers, something is bound to happen eventually.
Yuuei however wanted to prevent bad accidents from happening as much as possible. If a student were alone in a gym and got hurt, how long would it take them to get help if nobody knew they were there. With the time slots, if a student is still in the gym and hurt, they can get the help they need faster.
Aizawa however...hated the paperwork that came with letting the kids use the gym. The majority of Aizawa’s paperwork was literally him confirming details about each time any of his students applied, went, spent time in, and left the gym.
So here Aizawa sat, coffee in one hand, and a pen in the other as he chipped away at the backlog of paperwork he abandoned for the entire weekend to fester and grow larger. Chatting with Hizashi was probably the only thing that made dealing with the stack of papers even tolerable.
Knock! Knock! Knock!
A sharp rap of knocks popped on the door to the teacher’s office. It was most probably a student. Hizashi turned before calling to let them know it was okay to open the door.
“Hey! Hey! Open the door and Come in Listener!”
The door promptly busted open to reveal it was none other than Bakugou. The teen power walking over to Aizawa’s desk and promptly placed down a sheet that Aizawa internally groaned at.
It was a timesheet for the gym later today.
Aizawa looked at Bakugou, and back down at the timesheet in front of him. Part of him wanted to scoff, but he knew better.
“...So can I be authorized or what Mr. Aizawa?” Bakugou’s words nipped at the older man. Shouta nodded before signing the sheet and pulling up Bakugou’s file so he could grant authorization to the gym for the blond.
“There you go Bakugou. You know the rules, leave when you said you were.” Shouta nodded at Bakugou. This was normal, the explosive teen probably rented out gym time the most out of his classmates and it showed in class how much work he was putting in.
“Thanks,” Bakugou grunts and nods at Shouta thankfully before stalking out. He sighed, going into his computer so he could grant Bakugou the time he requested. As he was entering the timestamps, another student knocked at the door.
….knock knock...knock
“It’s open!” Shouta calls, and the door opens cautiously to reveal Midoriya. His face is red from (what Shouta presumes) running to the teacher’s office.
“Hey Listener! You are red as a tomato!” Hizashi pointed out Midoriya’s exasperated nature with a chuckle, the nervous wreck of a teen puffed a couple of laughs in response to his English Teacher.
“O-Oh I’m okay! I promise.” Midoriya smiled as he gained the air in his lungs. Walking over to Shouta he held out a sheet of paper. The same one that Shouta had just gotten from Bakugou not even ten minutes prior.
“The Gym?” Shouta inquired, even though he already knew the answer as he scanned the sheet. Midoriya nodded in response.
“Mmhmm! Can I go?”
“Yeah, Yeah Problem Child. Be safe, you know the safety protocols.” Shouta quipped and waved the greenette away. The boy only nodded before jogging out of the room seemingly with a pep in his step.
Shouta punched in the times for the gym that both Bakugou and Midoriya had requested, before realizing that something was a bit off.
“Yo Hizashi look at this for me and tell me what’s off...” Shouta grumbled. The blonde leaned over to glance at his computer, only to nod agreeing.
“Yeah, uh, Bakugou and Midoriya requested the same time,” Hizashi noted.
“...So then why would they bring the time request sheets separately?” Shouta questioned looking at the blond in front of him.
"Coïncidence?" Hizashi responded.
Shouta honestly didn’t have time to think hard about why the boys would give him the papers separately as he authorized the time they requested.
Strange…

Shouta hated work nights. Something always went to shit, and he’d end up out longer than his shift required. He was only lucky enough that his agency was great about paying him the overtime he’d accumulate with no fuss.
Before Shouta would go back to his own apartment on campus though, he had to do a night check on the students just to make sure they were all where they needed to be. Usually, on weekdays, that meant everyone in their own dorms, preferably sleeping.
However, with it being the weekend Shouta was lenient. Staying up late was cool, and sleepovers were the norm for Class 1-A’s weekends. It didn’t bother him, and it reminded Shouta of when he was a teenager at Yuuei.
Jiggling the key and opening the door, the first thing Aizawa noticed was that the lights were on. Which indicated that someone or a group of students were down here and either up and doing something (which was not good considering it was 3 in the goddamn morning) or some had (or a group) had fallen asleep in the living room or kitchen again.
Shouta could not count the number of times something like the second scenario had happened. As he walked into the dorm, he could hear the sounds of a tussle going on.
“Give me the remote! Kacchan!”
“No! Fuck you!”
“It’s m-my turn you..you dick! Kacchan!”
Shouta walked to the living room to find Bakugou and Midoriya wrestling for the remote. Bakugou straddled Midoriya and pinned him down on his back. The blond cackled.
“I refuse to watch another shitty hero documentary with you Deku!”
Shouta can only watch as the two boys wrestle for the remote for another minute before he clears his throat loudly. The two instantaneously freeze and snap their heads at the sight of their homeroom teacher. Midoriya was the first to respond.
“Hey! M-Mr. Aizawa...” He chuckles nervously despite the...compromising position he seemed to be trapped in.
Shouta blinks at the two adolescents in front of him…. It’s 3 in the goddamn morning. What the fuck are they even doing awake. Shouta can only sigh.
“Bakugou...Midoriya… Go to bed.”
The two boys scramble apart, pushing at each other as they rush to the elevator. Shouta watches the two leave, before leaping over the side of the couch and decides to get a couple of Z’s in before he checks on his class.
He really is too tired for this shit.

Sometimes there were things that happened in the dorms that truly were bizarre. Like the kitchen getting frozen over, or all of the appliances in the building getting short-circuited. Shouta could prepare himself for those things. They’ve happened plenty of times. Both before his current class, and these incidents happening while his class occupied the dorms.
Shouta was not however prepared to deal with…...this.
Shouta opened the door to the dorms, ready to call and let the class know he was in to check on the lot of them. Only to get shushed hastily by Kaminari Denki.
“Mr. Aizawa no!” The blond whisper-yelled. He looked panicked, as he looked at Shouta and back into the living room. Unimpressed, Shouta cocked his head, and at the moment he did that Todoroki walked over.
“Bakugou is...asleep on the couch….with Midoriya.” Todoroki spoke lowly as not to be heard, and it all clicked in Shouta’s mind at that very moment.
Bakugou was a very light sleeper, and if there was one thing that Class 1-A had learned...was to never ever wake up a sleeping Bakugou. Many of the students in his class learned that lesson the hard way.
Class 1-A had the same rule that they had about waking up Bakugou with Midoriya. The greenette was definitely a lot nicer, and a heavier sleeper than Bakugou. It just became a matter of don’t ever wake him up when he broke the dorm wall once after being startled awake after Kaminari accidentally shocked the kid.
Shouta walked over to the living room to see the boys asleep on each other. They weren’t cuddling but Bakugou’s head rested atop of Midoriya’s viridian curls. They were peaceful and seeing the credits of an All Might documentary. It seems it was accidental.
Shouta could tell that waking the two of them up accidentally would be a disaster for everyone with how close the two were. Shouto doesn’t think that Ken wanted to repair the dorms again this weekend. He nodded at Kaminari and went on his way.
He still had a job to do.
+1
Shouta could say that tonight was actually okay. No kids in the living room, all the girls were either in their dorms or having sleepovers, most of the boys were in their dorms. All he had to do was check Bakugou’s room. Shouta usually saved his room for last since he was usually always in his room alone.
Knocking on the door, Shouta used his master key to unlock the door. The first thing his ears could register were smacking lips. Shouta, honestly shocked, raised his eyes, and the sight that greeted him was probably the scariest thing.
His eyes burned the image of Problem Child One and Two making out on Bakugou’s bed. He probably should’ve waited for Bakugou to respond, or at this moment...Shouta wished he could say something but his throat was dry in shock.
Well, now everything made sense at least.
