Work Text:
Jihoon feels he’s in a dreamlike state. With the sun peeking at the curtains of their unit’s bedroom, he holds in his arms a smaller man who’s still in a deep slumber and even pouting.
He can’t get enough of this sight. Never. It’s been 2 months since he got married to this man named Park Hyunsuk.
Ah, even the thought of the other already bearing his surname feels surreal.
Because since then, since senior year of college where they first met, Jihoon thinks that Hyunsuk is out of his league.
He’s an intelligent student, taking up Business Management. Very popular, for he has good looks as well and an endearing smile that could instantly capture anyone’s heart.
One of them was Park Jihoon.
But reaching Hyunsuk was like reaching for the stars, the farthest thing out there.
You see, he’s also the son of an owner of well-known hotel chains around the country. He appears on the news along with his father and he’s a social butterfly too.
While Jihoon sees himself as an average person, living with his aunt who runs a small eating place. He works for her after his classes, as he owes the woman his life because she raised him alone.
Until one day, fate plays its part while the tall guy was quietly walking at the university’s library to look for references that he can use in their research.
That was when he caught sight of a smaller guy, obviously having a hard time reaching for a weighty tome which is located on the upper side of the shelf.
It didn’t take long for the brunette to realize who it was and there goes his heart beating erratically. He got distracted and just stood frozen in there, watching the other furrowed his eyebrows and that damn pout just adds up to everything.
But Jihoon bounced back to reality when he heard a soft cough coming from the guy.
“U-uh.. can you help me with this? I really just can’t reach it.” Hyunsuk uttered, scratching the back of his neck out of shyness.
“S-sure.” The younger replied, also feeling his cheeks get warmer as he approached the smaller and reached for the said book.
“Here.” Jihoon unconsciously let out a smile that had his eyes disappearing and Hyunsuk was honestly taken aback.
“You have a heart shaped mole under your eye!” The guy with raven hair exclaimed. He wanted to slap his own mouth after getting carried away.
And to add up to the list of embarrassing moments the older had today, Hyunsuk brought his hand to gently touch the mole which made the other flinch.
“S-sorry! I just find it… amazing.” He mumbled before swiftly retracting his hand.
It left the brunette a blushing mess but he really tried his best to not show.
“That’s fine.”
“I’m Hyunsuk.”
Of course, who wouldn’t know you?
“Jihoon.”
“Thank you for helping me with this, Jihoonie.”
-
Jihoon woke up early even though it's the weekend and he still didn’t have enough sleep to make up for the hella stressful week he had.
Usually, he works at the shop during night only. But his aunt called first thing in the morning saying one of her workers caught a flu and they’re short of people. The place is really packed up with a lot of customers during the weekends.
So, the college student was left with no choice.
“You’re taking orders today. I’ll inform you when you’re needed in the kitchen.” Jihoon nodded at his aunt with a beam before tying his apron properly and straightening his white polo shirt.
That’s how his day went on.
Some time around late afternoon, he caught a glimpse of a customer with a familiar figure entering the eating place.
But before he could even approach — well to take the guy’s order, he first went to the kitchen where his aunt was calling.
Not long after, he went out with his tiny notepad and ballpen. He was distracted for a bit since some customers were asking for something and he tried his best to accommodate them all.
So when he reached a particular table, he wore his usual smile that he showed to customers before talking.
The guy seems busy looking for something in his bag.
“Good day, sir. May I take your order?”
“Uh, i’ll just t— Jihoon?”
Oh. He didn’t see this coming.
“Hyunsuk.”
For a moment, the tall guy’s mind was full of questions. What is he doing here? Well, truth be told, Jihoon expects he only eats at fancy restaurants or they have a personal chef at home that serves their desired food.
“I didn’t know you were working here? I visit here every weekend but I don’t see you.” So the other has questions just like him.
Jihoon suddenly wants to ask his aunt to just let him work during the afternoon instead of night.
“Ah, the owner is my aunt. I’m working for her during the night. Just had to go early due to some reasons.” He replied, which got Hyunsuk nodding.
He looks even more beautiful with that smile.
“I see. I’ll order now.” The smaller said and Jihoon snapped back to reality that he’s not here to have a little chit chat but to actually take his order.
He secretly observes the guy while he’s choosing from the menu.
Doe eyes, plump pouty lips. His long eyelashes are pretty. He has round cheeks too and a cute button nose.
God, Jihoon could stare at it all day.
But not today since he needs to leave after and entertain other customers.
Unknown to him, Hyunsuk was stealing glances from his table.
After a while, when Jihoon was back at the counter, he decided to take a look at where Hyunsuk was seated but he was already nowhere to be found.
“He must’ve left already.”
“Jihoon?”
The said name almost jolted when he heard the voice.
“H-hyunsuk?”
Yes, Hyunsuk was suddenly standing in front of him, cheeks tainted with pink and seemed to have a hard time looking straight at the younger’s eyes.
He’s… shy.
“Do you need anything?” The brunette asked, forgetting to breathe for a second there.
“N-no. I just want to ask what time will you finish here?”
“Uhm, i’m not sure yet. Why?”
“…”
“Hyunsuk?”
“Can— can we go out after your shift? I’ll wait for you outside.”
Oh.
Oh.
Jihoon could faint at his moment. This couldn’t be real!
“N-no! I mean yes! But you don’t have to wait anymore since i’ll ask my aunt if I can leave now. The customers are not that much already so… yeah.” He almost rapped those words but he hoped Hyunsuk understood him.
Until he heard a giggle, and the brunette thought it was angelic. Talk about this not-so-obvious whipped man.
“Okay then.”
-
That day, the two visited a coffee shop nearby. Jihoon was familiar with it but he never visited since it screams for rich people only.
He even looked at his wallet to see if he had enough money when Hyunsuk told him they’re going there.
“Jihoonie, it’s my treat. You helped me last time, right?” Said the older one when he noticed. Jihoon wants to refuse but he was already choosing a drink.
They talked about a lot when they decided to just go somewhere while finishing their coffee.
Fortunately, the awkward atmosphere went away that easily.
Until the two just found themselves watching the sunset all the while giggling at each other’s antics.
“I had fun, Jihoonie.”
“Me too, Sukkie.”
-
It went on like that, after-class dates, studying together, checking out new cafés, and everything they could do. They were inseparable.
And the whole university knows.
Some wish them to love happily, while some are obviously envious for it’s the first time that Hyunsuk’s been this close to someone aside from his best friends that everyone knows as well.
The two were falling hard, they just didn't know how to tell each other.
Yet at some point they got busy, since graduation is also nearing. They’re having less time to hang out. It’s understandable, still. They don’t forget to message and update each other.
One day, Jihoon decided to watch the news only to see Hyunsuk’s name in it.
‘Choi Hyunsuk, only son of the owner of the top hotel chain Y.E Hotels reportedly dating the heir of Azzure Groups, Kanemoto Yoshinori.’
It felt like daggers thrown straight to his heart.
Right.
Hyunsuk was still out of his league no matter what.
But didn’t he deserve even just a heads-up? He thought he was just busy with school. He thought they were just friends as he saw Hyunsuk with the guy one time.
He should’ve known better.
However, the last bit of Jihoon’s hope didn’t fail him.
He opened his door after a few knocks coming from the outside. A sobbing Hyunsuk and a tight hug welcomed him.
“Jihoonie! It was just a rumor. I-it’s not true. Don’t believe it please…”
The brunette knew it was time to step forward and take the risk.
“Shush. I believe you.”
“I-I love you.”
Jihoon may think he’s out of his league, but Hyunsuk was all that he saw. All that he loved.
“I love you too.”
-
“Hon, you woke up early today.” Jihoon ducks his head down upon hearing the tiny hoarse voice. It was enough to make him smile widely.
“I’m planning to teach you how to cook today. Let’s start with breakfast.” The taller uttered, planting a soft kiss on his husband’s forehead.
“Sounds good.” Hyunsuk whispered with a small smile, enough for the other to hear before scooting closer and burying his face on Jihoon’s neck.
It’s his favorite place. And it’s where he belongs.
“We’re meeting your friends at lunch, right?”
“Yup, Jaehyuk wants to hand the invitations in person.”
“Hmmm.”
“I don’t want to get out of bed yet.” The smaller admitted, not wanting to be away from Jihoon’s warmth.
“5 minutes, honey?”
“Make it 10.”
They both chuckled at that before Jihoon hovered on top of the other, suddenly caging him in his arms. It made Hyunsuk yelp but giggle afterwards.
No words came after, only kisses.
