Chapter Text
(Y/N) is responsible for the creation of Monokuma.
You stared down at the ticket with a frown, trying to spark some kind of memory in your head. Monokuma's new motive was definitely a game changer. Or at least, for the others it probably was. Don't misunderstand- you had no intentions of letting anyone find out your secret. However, you weren't certain that it was your secret to begin with.
You looked at the clock in your room. If the time was correct, you had fifteen minutes until the nighttime announcement. You frowned and built up some courage before carefully speaking out loud.
“Monokuma?”
By strange magic- or perhaps just a really complex illusion that you didn't understand, the monochromatic bear posing as headmaster popped up in your room. He was wearing a mischievous grin, but then again it wasn't as if he had much choice regarding facial expression.
“Call and I shall appear!”
“Hm. I have a question.”
“A question about muuurder? Ha! I knew you'd be the one to cave in! After all, your secret is pretty interesting- if I were you, I wouldn't want anyone to know either!”
“I'm not going to kill anyone. But I do want to know what this means.”
Monokuma tilted his head as you waved the ticket. You could practically hear the gears turning in his head as he processed what you said.
“What do you mean 'what does it mean'? It means what it says! Don't tell me you mean you don't remember!”
You didn't answer as Monokuma became visibly upset, face turning red and teeth growing sharper as he stomped on the floor.
“Ooh, you brat. I give you a motive video but you don't remember the people in it, I give you an incriminating secret but you don't remember it happening... what are you, the ultimate space case?!”
Sighing, you sat the ticket on your nightstand and laid back.
“I guess you won't tell me, then.”
There was a moment of silent. You thought Monokuma had left when he suddenly leaned over your face, making you freeze up. His red eye was shining brightly and you had to squint just to maintain eye contact.
“Oh, I'll tell you. If you kill someone and survive the trial, that is.”
“...pass.”
Monokuma stared at you and then shrugged, stepping back as his eye went to normal.
“Oh well! It's up to you, in the end. But you'd better hope one of your 'trusty' classmates cracks under the pressure before the deadline. Because I have a feeling that when I reveal your secret, nobody's gonna believe your amnesiac story. Puhuhuhuhu~"
And just like that, Monokuma was gone. A few seconds later the nighttime announcement played, but all you could think about was why you possibly (allegedly) created Monokuma. Maybe he wasn't intended to behave the way he did. He was pretty adorable for a murderous bear (something that you felt guilty admitting to). Perhaps he was intended to be... a friend?
But if that was true, what could have happened to make him so... villainous?
'I shouldn't think so hard about this. Monokuma's a robot, not a living thing. He's evil because somebody made him that way, and that somebody wasn't me. The secret's probably a lie anyway...'
Yeah, that had to be it. Satisfied with the conclusion you came to, you kicked off your shoes and curled up on your side. You thought about your predicament for a while, and then got lost in faint memories of your past before falling asleep.
