ride through the moon

Summary:

"Little Mo, are you going home? It's getting late."

"Yeah, idiot," Mo Guan Shan says, beginning to walk away but He Tian reaches for Mo Guan Shan's hand. "Fuck—What do you want?!"

"Ride with me." He Tian’s smile turns into a smirk and from his pocket, he takes out the key of a new Aston Martin convertible parked near the sidewalk. “I’ll take you home, like a boyfriend.”

[He Tian takes Mo Guan Shan home.]

Work Text:

The cool, light breeze of the night sweeps He Tian's hair.

He stretches his arms, loving the way his bones click as he does, and finally rests his hands on his hips. Enjoying the concert and eating out with Mo Guan Shan sure relieved his body.

He and Mo Guan Shan at the exit, Jian Yi and Zhan Zheng Xi went on their merry way home, leaving both of them alone. Good, good. He Tian turns his head, a smile on his face.

“Boyfriend—the fuck?! You’re not my boyfriend!” Mo Guan Shan grits. It’s cute.

“Don’t say that Little Mo. It hurts,” He Tian says, half-lying.  Not yet, anyway. “See, people are looking." He Tian shakes his head, tsking. "They’ll think we’re having a lover’s argument.”

“Fuck off. Let go of my hand!” Mo Guan Shan tried to take his hand back but He Tian’s hand remains resolute. He wouldn’t brush this opportunity to take Mo Guan Shan home, after all.

“You don’t want to ride that?” He Tian points to his car and Mo Guan Shan's eyes followed his finger. For a moment, Mo Guan Shan looked like reconsidering, but he snaps out of it like a spell has been broken. He shakes his head.

“You can ride it all you want. I’m gonna fucking walk.”

“Come on, Mo... But your face was telling me you wanted to,” He Tian insists. “It’s new and you don’t have to walk. It's free.” He pulls Mo Guan Shan by the waist and whispers to his ear, “Let me take you home, Little Mo..."

“You—” Mo Guan Shan bristles and he backs away from He Tian. His cheeks are becoming red—a reaction He Tian has been seeing most days, a reaction he’s always hoping for. Making Mo Guan Shan fall for him would be easier from now on. “I can just get a fucking cab, dumbass. Why are you so stubborn?”

“Coming from you, Little Mo? You’re the stubborn one.”

“Ugh, shut up.” Mo Guan Shan glares at He Tian. “Fine. So, you can stop spitting nonsense. And this is for biting my fucking cheek.”

He Tian grins. “I love you, Little Mo.”

“Stop or I’m going to change my mind.”

❒❒❒

The engines rev. With a smooth turn of the wheel, the car angles to the side before He Tian takes off.

Mo Guan Shan sits beside him, looking out at the city lights. The ride wasn’t that far away, only a couple of blocks, and with no cars on the road in sight, they’ll get there in no time.

It’s surprising that Mo Guan Shan isn’t shouting curses at him right now. The ride stays silent but it’s not like it’s tense. In fact, the silence was comfortable. The type that isn't occupied with small talk. And He Tian likes this too: silence with Mo Guan Shan while riding through the almost carless road. Riding through the moon with him.

From the corner of He Tian’s eye, Mo Guan Shan was gazing at the stars while he rests his arm on the door. The wind carried his hair, making it sway. It grew a bit longer. The moon favored his skin, casting a light glow on his pale skin and pairing it with a rare, dazed expression...  It’s almost peaceful.

He’s stunning.

He Tian should focus on the road or else he’ll crash the car. His brother would scold him again and Mo Guan Shan would get hurt. But... he doesn’t look away. He wouldn’t want to look away.

Meanwhile, Mo Guan Shan sensed He Tian’s staring and says, “Hey, bastard. Watch the road.”

He Tian returns his attention to the road.

"What the fuck were you staring at?”

“Your cute face, Mo.”

“... Bastard.” Mo Guan Shan doesn’t press it further, looking away. “I swear if you crash this car and get us killed, I’ll kill you.”

He Tian chuckles. He thanked the dark sky, or else Mo Guan Shan would see the faint blush creeping on his cheeks.

The things you do to me, Mo Guan Shan...

❒❒❒

Mo Guan Shan steps out of the car as soon as He Tian parked it next to his house. He shuts the door. "There. Now go home, crazy bastard."

"Where's my kiss?"

"Kiss my ass, bitch."

He Tian's eyes sparkle. "You'll let me?"

"Fucker!" Mo Guan Shan yells, but he clasps both hands on his mouth. He zeroes down to a glare.

“What? Scared Auntie will hear ya, Little Mo?”

"You're insufferable."

"But you love me." He Tian coos.

Mo Guan Shan's face wrinkles, disgust in high-resolution. He's glaring at He Tian now as if He Tian's dogshit in the middle of the road.

"Alright, alright. Stop looking at me like that." He Tian turns the engine again. "See you tomorrow, Little Mo?"

Mo Guan Shan flips him off as he turns his back. "See you never."

He Tian laughs and he takes off. Taking his soon-to-be-boyfriend home is gonna be his new favorite thing.
