Work Text:
The scions were visiting Costa del Sol for some rest and down time now they all made it back from the First.
The weather was lovely, the heat of the sun made comfortable by the ocean breeze.
Most spend the day swimming or sunbathing while others preferred the shade.
With the scions now getting ready for bed in a cabin they were given to share for the night, G'raha couldn't help but notice someone was missing "Have any of you seen Charmi? I did not see her come to the cabin with us".
Y'shtola chuckled "No need to worry about your hero, she often wonders of to who knows where, she is good at finding hidden spots".
G'raha once again flustered by her teasing "I-i well i was only! Uhm.. if you are sure then".
Thancred placed a hand on his shoulder "Absolutely! She needs some time every now and then, being the warrior of light and all, so we give her that space, she'll turn up soon so don't you worry." He gave G'raha a smile which he tried his best to return.
It was well into the night now and everyone in the cabin was fast asleep, everyone but G'raha.
He stared up at the ceiling thinking about Charmi, she still hadn't returned.. maybe she went back.. but why would she without a word.. maybe she was hurt!.. but then again it's her so probably not.
The thoughts in his head were killing him, he had enough.
Summoning the best sneak display he could, he snuck out of the cabin but where to start looking.
With no idea where to start he just picked a spot and he searched, for he didn't care how long.
After nearly an hour he spotted his familiar warrior sitting on a rock over looking the water, staring up at the night sky.
He walked up to her but being as perceptive as he always was with her, he noticed the hand that wiped something off of her cheek and he felt his heart fill with worry.
That wasn't.. was she?
He bit his lip contemplating if he should approach but the choice was made for him when of course *snap* he stepped on a branch.
He looked down at the accursed branch before looking back up seeing Charmi spin around in an instance readying for whatever was trying to sneak up on her.
But as soon as she saw G'raha, standing there with his hands in the air like he was surrendering, she couldn't help let out a giggle at the sight "G'raha don't sneak up on me like that, you're lucky i don't have my weapon on me".
He let out a nervous laugh in return "Yes i think i am, i do not want to know the outcome of that".
"What brings you.."
"Why are you.."
They both spoke at the same time, laughter filling the air again, he was happy to see her smile but could still see the dried tears on her cheek shine in the moonlight.
He stared at her for a moment, by the twelve she glows in moonlight.
She let out another giggle, oh no she had said something and he missed it "G'raha? What brings you out here so late?" She repeated.
Brought back from his thoughts he walked up to where she was just seated "I came looking for you actually, why are you out here alone this late?" he turned to look at her face "And crying".
She looked a little startled by that, wiping her cheeks again she sat back down and motioned for him to sit too.
She didn't say anything and she twiddled her fingers, thinking about what to say.
Worried by his own words G'raha spoke again "I did not mean there is anything bad about it, it's good to let it out instead of keeping it inside and letting it fester".
With a sigh she replied "Yeah it's.. everything and sometimes i just need to..". That is where she broke, the tears rolling down her cheeks again.
G'raha was stunned for a moment, his hero, his inspiration, his friend was crying in front of him.
He always knew being the warrior of light aswell as darkness there must be so much pressure on her and he always thought her so strong for never showing it bothered her, if it even did but to see her give out under that pressure like this, he wasn't sure what to do for a moment.
He thought back to what the scions had said, she often disappeared for awhile, just how often had she been crying alone.
He shuffled closer to her and carefully wrapped his arm around her, placing his hand on her shoulder.
He pulled her towards him and to his surprise, she leaned into the embrace and placed her head on his shoulder.
He looked down at her face, seeing her like this was hurting him in a way he did not expect and he started feeling his own tears forming.
As he looked up to the stars he felt her hand on his back, she grabbed his shirt in her fist as he felt her shaking.
They sat like that for a while, not saying anything.
After a while he felt her hold on his shirt loosen and her breathing slowed back down to normal.
She slowly lifted her head off of his shoulder, seeing the wet spot on his shirt she let out a weak laugh "Sorry..".
She started patting the spot to try and dry it.
G'raha took her wrist to stop her "That's alright, one can only be strong for so long" he smiled at her.
She returned the smile and turned back to the sky and sighed "It's.. i don't know, i come here too often and just let my thoughts wonder. I thought about someone i lost, then everyone i lost and..". She let out another sigh, trying to keep the tears from forming again "I'm just so sick of losing people".
Her shoulders lowered as she finally voiced what had been plaguing her mind all night and she sighed in relief.
He thought about her words for a moment and gathered courage to ask his next question "I am on that list, aren't i?".
She chuckled "Twice actually".
He was physically taken aback by this, making her chuckle.
His hand found the back of his neck when he remembered "R-right, sealing the tower and when i uhm".
She shouldered him trying to lighten the mood despite her next words "When you tried to off yourself only to get shot before you could".
"Y-yeah well rest assured i will not be trying that again" he said as he remembered a pain in his forehead.
He turned to her with a smile only to see her own had faded at his words.
"If only that was a promise you could keep with full certainty" she looked down, her eyes searching for something.
She was taken from her thoughts when in the corner of her eye she saw something move towards her.
She looked to G'raha to see he was holding out his hand, his pinky finger out.
He had a soft smile on his face "Maybe not with full certainty but i will do my utmost best to remain by your side for aslong as you want me there, that is a promise".
She felt her heart swell and she took his pinky finger with her own "And i will hold you to that" A slight blush formed on her cheeks "And i promise the same, we still have so many adventures to go on after all" she smiled at him.
His own cheeks turned red and he squeezed her pinky "I can not wait".
Letting go of his finger she turned to look up at the sky again, still slightly leaning her side against his.
He looked at her, seeing the moonlight on her, she was glowing again.
He smiled taking a moment to just let it sink in, he is really here in this moment with her.
This is real, he really made it and now he did not want to even think about leaving her side.
Not with all the adventures still waiting for them, together.
He turned to the sky aswell, feeling a happy warmth in his chest as they watched the stars together.
