You’d been dating Kaeya for a few months now. The relationship was going smoothly, even considering the difficulty in lining up your schedules. You were well aware of the challenges of dating the Calviary Captain, but you wouldn’t let that stop you from being at his side. You understood the importance of his position in the knights order, and after seeing how much respect the citizens had for him, you vowed to match that respect.
Of course, there were times when it got lonely. You’d find yourself feeling the sting of jealousy when you saw him speaking with the many beautiful ladies peppered in Mondstadt. You knew though, no matter how much your worry spoke to you, that he cared for you above everyone else. Any fears growing in you would dissolve as soon as his head fell into your lap, when his hand reached out to yours while you walked through the cobblestone streets, or when he placed loving kisses on your cheek before heading off to the Knights Headquarters.
Though you tried to be patient, there was no stopping your excitement when he invited you out for a night on the town, tonight was no exception. Eagerly, you’d call on your constant support, Amber, and beg her to help you get prepared for the date. She’d help you pick out your best clothes, even do your hair while you finish the final touches of your makeup.
“I bet he will be stunned by how awesome you look!” She’d cheer, reaching over to grab another bobby pin from your dresser. Her positivity was infectious, no one could be in a bad mood around Amber. You’d seen it first hand; her ability to turn around even the hardest of frowns.
“Thanks! It’s been five days since we last spent quality time with each other.” you sigh, placing the palette of eyeshadow in front of you.
“Distance makes the heart grow fonder,” she beamed. It made you both laugh, and the excitement in your stomach boiled over. Quickly, you put on the remaining pieces of clothes and rushed out to meet your prince.
As the clock struck seven, you flung open the door to the street and, standing with his back to you, was Kaeya. He wasn’t in his normal knightly clothes, but instead in a beautiful, deep blue suit. The tails of his jacket were tipped with silver metal, and you could see the shine of the city lights off of his shoes. As he turned, and you were able to see him in full splendor, it practically swept you off your feet. His jacket came closed about his waist, large white buttons keeping it secure, underneath was a lighter blue button-up that peaked out of the bottom of his sleeves. The suit perfectly framed him, even as you noticed the exposed part of his chest, you couldn’t deny this level of dapper emanating from him. After taking him in you finally noticed the flowers in his hand.
“Kaeya …” you gasp, “you look … incredible.”
“Not as incredible as you, darling,” he emphasized taking graceful steps toward you. With unbelievable elegance, he moves his hand to stroke your face before tilting your head to his lips. Ending the kiss he keeps his face close. His, everything, is so overwhelming that you let out a soft chuckle under the pressure of his gaze.
Leaning back he presents the bouquet of flowers he’d been holding onto, “For you, my Princess.” With his head lowered he extends them to you.
“Princess?” you question, he’s never called you that before. He doesn’t give you an answer, maybe he didn’t hear you, or you misheard him? Taking the bouquet in your hands you inhale the sweet smell of the regional flowers.
Standing upright he brushes his rich blue hair behind him and offers you his elbow. “Shall we?” He beckons. With joy radiating off of you, you take his arm and are off.

After being escorted to one of the fancier restaurants in Mondstadt, eating a lovely meal by candlelight, and catching up on the days you’ve been unable to see one another, you think to yourself how wonderful the night had been. It started to get late and you dreaded the date drawing to a close.
Gathering your items Kaeya abruptly removed a handkerchief from his pocket, his arms reaching toward your face catching you off guard.
“What … are you doing?” you question, lifting your hands to his.
“I’m blindfolding you, isn’t that obvious.” He retorts, giving you a playful smirk that lowered your hesitation.
Even with the reservation you felt, you let him do as he pleased, “Okay, just don’t do anything crazy, and don’t let me fall!” You close your eyes, you can feel the heat coming off of his body as he tightens the handkerchief around your head. Thankfully it would also hide the flush creeping across your face.
“I’d never let you fall, trust me. Okay?”
After making sure his makeshift blindfold was secure on your head, you felt a hand graze over your arm, goosebumps following in its wake. His hand grasped onto yours and carefully you stood up.
–
“Kaeya,” you giggle, your nerves on overdrive, “where are you taking me!”
“Almost there.”
After some unsteady steps upward, the sensation of him pulling you forward stopped. As you try to figure out where you are, you notice drifting around you was the sound of soft music; it enveloped you, and set the butterflies in your stomach dancing. You wondered what Kaeya could possibly be up to.
Just then, he uncovered your eyes and a small gasp escaped your lips.
The courtyard just below the cathedral was decorated from the balcony all the way to the stairs leading up to the church. Woven back and forth between the stone archways were strings of twinkling lights. Around each column were bushels of brightly colored flowers, and every once in a while, you noticed how the wind would pick up a fallen petal and carry it off into the night sky.
Even the statue of Barbados was decorated. Thick strands of fabric spun around the large statue and were kept in place by small stakes at its base. It reminded you of the festival maypole dance where young children run around a pole dipping and diving over each other as the pole slowly disappears under the bright fabric.
You couldn’t believe what you were seeing. It was unreal … how did, who did..
“Y/N,” Kaeya’s voice called from behind you. Turning you see him reaching out his hand, he stood with proper poise waiting for you to place your hand into his. “Would you have this dance with me?”
Taking his hand he whisks you around the courtyard, you’re basked in the wind of the night, and Kaeya’s affections. It was easier than you thought to dance with him. He was quite light on his feet and naturally took the lead with a pace you could follow. He never let you fall, even during your dancing. A smile was glued to your lips, even during all the spins and turns you took together, even when the music began to slow and your quick steps decelerated into delicate ones.
He made you feel like you were floating. The elation you felt in his arms as you swayed back in forth to the melodious sounds of the music. You didn’t want this night to end, no matter what you wished there was a way to stop the universe from expanding and taking your time with it.
“I wish this night would go on forever,” you confess.
“There will be so many more nights like this,” Kaeya reminded you, his hand stroking your back.
“I’m sure there will be so many memories you’ll give to me, Kaeya, but none will mean more to me than this.” Emboldened by the events of the night you let yourself be more vulnerable than you thought you would. “You know,” you begin, feeling the heat of embarrassment warm your chest, “Ever since I was little, I wanted to dance under the starry sky like the beautiful princesses in the storybooks my parents would read to me.” The vulnerability spills out of you, “I wished for a prince to come and sweep me off my feet, whisk me to a grand ball, and dance with me, just like this.”
You felt him chuckling against you and you were about to beg him not to make fun of you, he interrupted you before you could take it all back.
“I know,” he said taking your hand in his and placing tender kisses on your knuckles.
“What do you mean you know!?” He burst into laughter at your reaction, his head dipping backward and eyes closing. “Kaeya …!”
“Please excuse me,” he said, wiping a tear from his eye. “I have something of my own I’d like to share with you.”
In utter embarrassment, you listened to him explain how he had come across you speaking with one of your friends weeks before the two of you started dating. During his, ‘information gathering’ opportunity he overheard you explain how ardently you wished, yearned for a prince to come and ask you to dance under the stars. How you imagined the scene, painting for them a beautiful picture rivaling that of any fairytale story. He also mentioned that when your friend envisioned this prince being none other than the famous cavalry captain you covered your face and dissolved into a fit of giggles.
He emphasized how endearing it made you, and how it made him fall for you even more.
“I cannot believe you heard me say all that …” there you go again, covering your face and hiding from his gaze. You knew he’d be able to tell how red your face was just by looking at the tip of your ears. “It’s so embarrassing.” When you felt his lips on your fingers you unwillingly lowered your hands, but only by a bit.
“Nothing about your fantasies should embarrass you; however,” he leaned to whisper in your ear, “some of my fantasies might.” When he saw your open mouth, hands slightly obscuring it from his eyesight he couldn’t help but laugh. He loved you so much.
With swift and effortless grace he lifted you from the ground, adjusting you into the famous bridal carry and spun you around. His laughter melting into your skin. When he finally stopped he shared another secret with you.
“I love you,” he purred, his forehead resting against yours.
“I love you too.”
For a while, he just held you there, secured in his embrace.
“You know nothing you ever do in the future will top this,” you finally say, peeking a glance at Kaeya’s face.
“Don’t doubt my ability for a second,” he’d boasted, “with the connections I have, I could bring you the stars if I wanted to.” Even with a lighthearted tone, you believed it was possible.
“Thank you, Kaeya.” You whispered, placing your head against his chest. “For making me feel like a princess.”
With deliberately slow movements he’d place a kiss on your forehead, one on your nose, and hovering over your lips, he’d make sure you heard his next words clearly, “my intentions have always been to treat you the way you deserve to be treated, and to me, you are more than a princess. You are my Queen,” and with that, he’d take your lips.
