“Damn girl, life is for the living and shit!” The Face of the Saints yelled back at Shaundi, as she was storming out of the penthouse. She couldn’t believe that the Boss actually let Pierce and Zimos host a party before they even managed to properly bury Johnny.
But what the brunette didn’t know was that the Boss agreed with her. She did think the Saints were throwing parties too early after Gat’s death, but part of Lina knew it was something she needed to let happen. Everyone copes with Gat’s death differently, and most of the kids in the gang used parties to avoid facing the reality. Happy gang meant effective gang, and Pierce knew that best.
The Boss leaned on the 2nd floor’s railing, looking down at her crew having a great time on a party. She could see a lot of new faces enjoying the party; almost all the new recruits from Steelport. Most of the were kids that were also fans of the Saints brand, but some have been personally recruited by the gang’s lieutenants.
“Whatcha ya say, Boss?” Pierce noticed the Boss observing the party.
“I dunno, still kinda early to go back to partying.”
“You too?” Pierce was shocked, Boss was always down for a good party. “Why didn’t you side with Shaundi then?”
Before the Boss could reply, Zimos, who stood next to Pierce and observed the party interrupted. “I’m gonna go and sell some pussy.” He turned around and headed towards a group of kids in the corner, trying to convince them to use the services the prostitutes are offering.
“Right on.” Pierce responded to Zimos, before turning his head towards the Boss once more. “So, what’s up?”
“Ehh, everyone grieves in different ways. The boys need a good party to forget about the misery.” Lina responded, she could notice on the gangs face how for a moment, they’ve forgotten all of their worries, and are simply enjoying themselves with strippers and some loud music. “Might head to bed earlier today, you seem to have everything in control here.” She had a lot of faith in Pierce. In the last 2 years, the man changed from this overthinking self and finally relaxed and learned how to think like a Saint.
“Aww, no.” Pierce said “Stay. You need to relax. This thing with Gat is eating you alive.”
“Maybe you’re right.” The blue haired woman sighed; Gat’s death left a huge hole in her heart. He was one of her best friends, always by her side no matter what “Oh, and do you got a minute to talk about something?”
“Right now?” He exclaimed “Shiit, can’t it wait for the morning?”
“It’s kind of important.” The Boss leaned on the railing with her elbow as she turned towards Pierce.
“What is it?” He looked at her in the eyes as he dropped his grin and got ready to listen to the Boss’ concern.
“You did a good job with this party,” She sighed, part of her found funny what she was about to say as she never expected this day to come when they first met. “definitely a call I couldn’t make myself.”
“You still miss Gat?” His tone was serious from the one before, as Pierce never saw the Boss like this. Usually she responds to her feelings with anger and destruction, but this time, he could genuinely see in her eyes that she was in pain, and didn’t know how to deal with it.
“A lot. But let’s not talk about that.” Lina quickly switched the topic, she preferred keeping her feelings between her and her therapist, the one Ultor made her talk to in order to go through with the Saints-Ultor brand deal. She wasn’t one for sharing feelings and was strongly against it at first, but she couldn’t refuse the millions of dollars coming from the brand deal in talks. She accepted therapy, and surprised by the results of it, continued going all these years later. “I wanna talk about you.”
“Oh?” He got curious; it wasn’t often that the Boss was interested into Pierce’s thoughts. “About what?”
“Well, I’ll need a lot of help now that I don’t have Johnny with me.” She paused, part of her couldn’t believe it, as only a few years ago she would’ve mocked Pierce’s ideas simply for existing. “How would you like to be my second-in-command?”
His face lit up in joy, smile spread from ear to ear “For real?” He could barely keep his enjoyment in him. He had waited years for the Boss to finally notice his hard work, and just as he thought he reached highest he ever will, he gets promoted. This was the best night of his life. “Hell yeah.”
“Good.” She patted his back. “You got a lot of work to do.”
“Don’t worry.” The Face of the Saints fixed his driver’s cap. “I got this. Wanna head downstairs and check out some of the girls with me?”
“Eh. Why not?”
