Never Again

Summary:

"Zoey Johnson, what can you say? What can I say when nothing will be able to explain the way she lit up every room with just one click of her heels she told me felt like mini death traps?

It's more than losing a friend, but losing my other half. Not only did I have to see her end up with...Aaron, now I'll never see her again.

I wish I could have come up with some deep, inspiring sappy eulogy. The truth is I haven't been able to sleep or eat. Zoey Johnson deserved better, and I wish I could give it to her...but I'll never be able to see her again."

The Gang are rocked by Zoey's untimely death in Mexico during Spring Break, the depressing news reaching Dre, Rainbow and Junior back Home.

Luca Hall refuses to accept the story being told as certain details aren't adding up, taking it upon himself to find out what really happened when Zoey died.

"My eyes are hurting, God-"

"Aht aht, don't use the Lord's name in vain!"

Jazz Forster's voice could be heard hissing at Luca Hall, the dark circles under his eyes indicating his exhaustion from the group's second stop on their flight to Mexico for Spring Break.

"Be nice. We're here to have fun, guys! Who's with me?"

Zoey smiled, enthusiastically halting to gather everyone for a quick group selfie.

"Get my good side, Freshman."

Aaron muttered jokingly, his lips moving to press against Zoey's left cheek, causing for her face to heat up with a slight blush, her focus returning to snapping multiple photos of her friends to stamp the first memory of their holiday.

"I agree. Zoey has a whole list of sh-stuff for us to do in Mexico so we can go with the Mexi-Flow!"

Vivek's joke fell flat on silent ears, his eyes awkwardly veering between Ana and Nomi in search of being backed up.

Zoey fussed by the Baggage claim trying to spot her utterly expensive custom Fendi suitcases, Luca watching her with amusement before coming over to help her.

"Zozo the Bozo,"

He teases her in reference to how flustered and annoyed she looked in public, feigning composure when their eyes met.

"Wow, how very nice of you, Luca!"

"Here."

Luca leaned over to grab the handles of 2 of her 4 bags, letting Zoey carry the lighter remaining ones.

"Thanks, Luca."

"No problem, although isn't this your Hotep boyfriend's job?"

Luca asked sarcastically, an underlying tone of genuine bitterness seeping through below the surface.

Luca hadn't quite gotten over Zoey. Scratch that, he NEVER did. Zoey had chosen Aaron and  it still hurt because not even Jillian could make him forget. Luca wasn't looking forward to seeing Aaron and Zoey's cringey at all.

"What is your problem, Luca? Seriously!-"

"Guys! Come on, everybody's waiting to leave!"

Vivek had interrupted at just the right time. All was okay, or is it?
