Late Night Drives *Satori Tendou x Reader*

Summary:

"We outta go out sometime."

The girl scoffed and looked the boy up and down before leaning on the counter before her.

"I guess I can think about it."

The boy only gave a cheeky grin in reply before resting his head on his hand, admiring the girl before him.

I will be editing this after I complete it. If there are any mistakes that interfere with your enjoyment let me know, otherwise I will be holding off on fixing it.

I also apologize for any mistakes as far as how Japan works, I've never been there and was born and raised in America. Certain aspects of American culture may seep its way into this book and for that I'm sorry.

Chapter Text

"Excuse me? This is highway robbery, you seriously expect me to pay these prices?!" exclaimed the woman standing at the confession store counter. The clerk sighed bringing one hand to rub her temple and the other to rest on her hip.

"Ma'am. I can't change the prices, if you want a better price I recommend going to a store before coming here. You're allowed outside food and drinks, it's a lot cheaper to just-"

"Well I didn't do that! I wanted to buy them here and now you're seriously telling me that these are the prices?!" The clerk opened her mouth to speak, irritation growing, only to be cut off for the millionth time by this woman, "If you don't give a discount I won't be bringing my business here. I love this place and I bring my kids here all the time but this is unacceptable!"

Finally losing practice the clerk snapped. "Well, ma'am, if that's the case then I'm afraid you won't be coming here anymore. I am not allowed to lower the price, if you have an issue go bother someone else,"

The woman who had previously had enough fire to make the devil sweat faltered. She took a step away from the counter and scowled before turning and leaving with a huff, nearly knocking down a teenaged student standing in the doorway in the process.

He was awfully tall and seemed rather muscular but his build was not enough to be completely unaffected by the will of an angery customer. The clerk didn't seem to notice him as she leaned her elbows on the counter and placing her face in her hands, shoulders shaking slightly as she silently cried.

The boy slowly made his way to an isle, grabbing a pack of candy and placing it on the counter timidly. The clerk lifted her face slightly to eye the item that appeared in front of her before looking at the boy who seemed to want to be anywhere else in the world.

The clerk took in the appearance of the boy in front of her. He had dark hair styled in a bowl cut and a simple outfit of a white tee shirt and blue jeans. It was obvious he was tall but due to the fact that the floor was raised about a foot behind the counter it was difficult to tell. She'd guess his hight to be maybe six feet tall, give or take a few inches.

The boy also took in her appearance. She was wearing all black and had most of her (h/c) hair hidden beneath an equally black hat with the company's logo on it. The (e/c) in her eyes was less noticeable due to the fact that they were bloodshot. Her face was puffy and she looked absolutely miserable.

As he watched her slowly wipe her eyes to rid herself of some tears he suddenly felt bad for not saying anything to the yelling costumer. He saw most of what went down and was too scared of the angery woman to do anything. He could only imagine how much a store employee at a rather overpriced confection store would have to deal with.

She sniffled before speaking to him. "Hello, welcome, will this be all for you sir?" he nodded slowly and she stood up properly, typing in the code for the item into the register.

"I'm uh. I'm sorry about that," he said, when the clerk made eye contact he swiftly looked down. He should've just kept quite.
"Don't be!" he let out a small 'huh' before looking up to see that the clerk before him was smiling sweetly. He blushed, noting she did look rather cute, especially now that some of the redness in her face went down.

"I deal with assholes like that all the time, it's nothing I can't handle," she said, stepping to the side and grabbing a box of tissues from below the counter and drying her eyes before turning around and blowing her nose.

"How?! That lady was so scary!" the boy in front of her questioned as she threw the tissue into a trash can behind the counter. She chuckled and shrugged.
"I guess you get used to it," she said, causing him to shake his head.

"She barely pushed me and I thought I was gonna cry, I don't know how you dealt with her yelling at you like that!" the clerk only giggled, causing the boy's cheaks to become dusted with a rosy pink.
"She really managed to push you?" the clerk asked, finishing ringing up the small bag of candies he got, "You're so tall though," he shrugged.

"You're tall too," he rebuttled. It wasn't often he had to physically look up to someone outside of volleyball, especially a girl. She giggled once again.
"Oh, the floor is raised behind the counter, I'm not actually all that tall," the boy cocked his head.

"So how tall are you?" he asked. The clerk shook her head before responding.
"Guess you'll just have to get to know me to find out! Anyways, that'll be 900 yen please!" (a little over $8.25 for the americans) The boy pouted, blushing a bit more at what may have been flirting as he gathered the money from his coin purse.

After the clerk put the money into the resister she waved him goodbye with a soft smile on her face that was a bit more genuine than her usual customer service look as he walked to his car to watch the movie that'd be playing soon.

The clerk left the back of the counter to return the items the woman had originally brought up to the counter. It wasn't all that often that people her age came to the old, rundown drive in.

It was mostly middle aged adults who brought their kids that always told her about how they visited this place often when they were her age. That being said it seemed to be getting more popular amongst teens.

She smiled as she walked behind the counter once more and pulled out a book to read in the meantime. If more people like that boy came in then she just might find herself some decent friends willing to hangout outside of school.
