Chapter 1 So I'm a rock now what
I awake in my new world. A soft breeze blows against the forest. I attempt to move, but I can't. I try to move any of my libs or my head. Nothing. I look down with my eye to see multiple people in front of me. The first guy is right in front of me. He is an elderly man who has short dark grey hair. Behind him is a young man wearing fancy clothing. He looks like a prince. He has short blond hair and bright blue eyes, plus he is wearing pretty bright purple clothing. He has two knights beside him, with a sizable fancy horse carriage behind them. All of these people look small. I have to look down just to see them. I must double their size, but that's impossible. That would make me around ten feet tall. I am supposed to be significantly below average in height, only around 3 feet tall.
Let's think about this. I remember walking to a class. A girl gave me a paper and told me to deliver it to some boy. This was not a strange occurrence; many people needed me to deliver things to them or their friends, food, water, clothing, or even notes. This wasn't even the first love letter I delivered. Most guys just walk over to me and ask me to deliver food to them or for my phone number. I would have to walk to the closest restaurant and give them food, but I was always late to class due to being far away. For the phone numbers, it was easy. I just gave them my phone for a bit so they can get my number. The only problem is that they would always text or call me. I'm not very good at confrontation, so I would just ignore it or just ask if they needed something. Most of them ask if they wanted to play video games with me. I played a lot of online games with them. Girls, on the other hand, would ask me to pass notes to their friends or boys. One time this girl asked me to put razor blades in another girl's desk. I found it odd, but if someone asks me to do something, I would never decline; that would be rude. No matter what I was asked to do, I would do it.
But that's getting off-topic. I walked in the middle of class; no one seemed to notice me, but that's when a blinding white light happened, and extreme pain filled my entire body. It felt like razors were all over my body. Does that mean I am dead? Well, I guess that's bad. No one told me that I'm supposed to die like this. If I am dead, does this mean I am in heaven? Or maybe I got reincarnated in a new world. That's a popular genre in fiction. I enjoy watching those types of anime. Imagine leaving the world and responsibilities behind to be a free-roaming adventurer.
While I was thinking these guys start talking, I couldn't understand what they are saying, so I just ignore them and keep thinking about my old life. Suddenly the old guy turns around to look at me. He pulls a stone from his pocket and puts it right in front of my face. A strange feeling ran down my spine. It felt unnerving.

I gaze at words bewildered. I wish I knew what they did, but the name kind of makes sense; earth magic is probably just magic about the earth. The only thing that is not self-explanatory is Obedience and this math equation.
[Obedience: Gains a stat boost whenever someone of a higher level gives you an order. Can't do anything else unless the task is done]
[n%I=W: can't be appraised]
Why do I have such a weird skill? This power is very specific. I don't think that skill is very helpful at all, and I give up understanding this math equation.
I try to move my arms and legs once again; this time, I slowly move my arm.
<Proficiency has reached the required level. Acquired skills. [Paralyzed Resistance LV1]>
A voice said in Japanese. This was the first time I heard Japanese in this place. The old man steps back and looks over at me. He speaks some more words in a language I don't understand, but I start moving freely again once he says them. I take one step, and the people around me step back. I just look at them and tilt my head. The prince guy looks over at his two guards and talks to them. They soon all form a circle and start chanting. A giant golem appears from the circle around the same height as me. It is made out of rock. He has one large eye, and his arms are bulky. All the humans step back a few feet and look at the two of us.
What are we supposed to do? I just lift my arm a little bit and wave? I'm so bad at socializing. What should I do? Someone tell me already. But then I notice my arms are bulky, just like this guy, except I have a slight hint of green on me. The golem in front of me is just a brown rock color.
"Fight" I hear a voice echo around my head. It spoke in Japanese, but it sounds like the old man. Did he speak Japanese? It doesn't matter once he said those words; I instantly ran towards the other golem. He also ran towards me.
We both swing our fists at each other, both our fists collide with each other's faces. The golem takes a few steps after the impact while I stand my ground. I swing my fist against the golem again, knocking him back a few feet again. Suddenly the environment around me turns into jagged spikes. I step on them. It feels like I am stepping on legos. I take a few steps back to avoid other spikes—earth spikes jet from behind me. The spikes stab into my back. More spikes spike out from the ground, stabbing into my arm, chest, and legs. I can't move.
Ow, what the heck. How is this dude using magic like this? I need to use magic, but I don't know-how. Wait, now that I think about it, I know magic, but it's already too late. Punch time is far easier, but right now, I'm too stuck to punch. I need to focus on magic. This guy used it, so that means I can do it too. I need to fight; that is my objective. Fight! Fight! Fight!
Spike jet out from the ground hitting his spike breaking them to pieces. I grab one of the rock spikes I made and break it off. I quickly throw it at the golem. The shard flies way above him, crashing into a tree behind him—the tree splitters and crashes to the ground. The golem runs at me, swinging its fist at me. I get hit right in the face. I stand my ground once again. Earth spikes shoot from the ground, stabbing into the golem back to his chest—more spikes shootout stabbing him through his arms and legs. I swing my fist at his head as hard as I can—his face cracks against the force. I swing my arm again. His head breaks off his neck. I slam my fist into his chest, breaking him into pieces along with my earth spikes. A dark aura of magic surrounds my entire body; it quickly breaks away, and all my injuries are gone.

God, that was exhausting. I sat down, making the ground shake a bit. I never got into a fight before even in my old life. But I look over at my enemy and realize I did go a bit far. He told me to fight, not to kill. Oh no, I did a bad thing. I hope he is not mad at me. I just did what I was told not my fault; this golem fault for stabbing me so much. Not mine, Ok. I look over the human. Please don't be mad. I swear I didn't mean to kill him; it was self-defense.
The prince guy starts clapping and laughing. I sigh in relief, good he is not mad. He starts talking with the old man, and he seems happy enough. The prince guy pulls out a large pouch of gold and hands it to the wizard. Was he buying something? It's so hard not understanding the language.
He walks over to me and looks straight at me. I was sitting so we could stare right at each other. He said something, but I could not understand what he was saying. He walks over to his two knights. He speaks once again, but this time his voice echoes in my head. "Follow me."
<Proficiency has reached the required level skill [Obedience LV1] has become [Obedience LV2]>
I walk over to him as he enters the carriage. The two knights sit up in front and use a leash to make the horse start pushing the carriage. I just follow right next to the carriage.
Follow! Follow! Follow! I have nothing else to do except for walking. I can't speak to them due to the language barrier. I just look around the forest. The road was smooth but still had a few bumps making the carriage hop a little. I guess I have some time to finally think about all this.
I died and came back as a tall rock monster. I watch some anime in this genre. That would explain the skills I just use, and for some reason, I know how to use them already. It was like an instinct to use magic.
I don't know why this happened, but here I am now. What should I be doing now? This is a typical fantasy world with skills, titles, hp, and mana. Like a video game. So should I act like this is a video game run around and kill monsters? Find the demon lord and kill him to save the world. That sounds like so much work, plush I am only level two; I shouldn't aim that high. My only goal right now is to just follow this guy somewhere. I have no overarching goals or ambitions. I never had, even in my old life. I just went through the motions of life—no talking to anyone unless they ask me something. Friends weren't necessary, so I had none. There was no time for anything whenever I got home from school. I had to watch my siblings, cook for them, help them with homework, and finish my own assignment.
That life was mine, but now I don't do that. I might miss my little sister and brother. Now that I am gone, they're going to have to watch each other now. I wonder who is going to cook.
The carriage quickly makes a stop. I have been space off a lot cause now we are in front of a town. I was expecting a vast wall, not this stuff. There were roads in the town. But besides that, this town was only a bunch of tiny houses scattered around—a bunch of people crowd around us, their eyes stair directing at me. I bow at anyone who looks at me. It feels weird to be gaze upon by so many people. I wasn't that popular around school, but everyone knew I could get stuff for them, so many strangers came over to me and asked for stuff. So I wasn't bad at socializing. I just couldn't start a conversation.
After walking around town, we arrive at the town center, where there is a fancy mansion. It has a vast garden with plants and flowers growing around it—the carriage park in front of the mansion. I halt and stand next to the carriage; my goal is complete. The prince walks out of the carriage towards the mansion; a little girl runs out of the estate; she is small, especially compared to me. She looks to be around the age of nine. She has dark brown hair and is wearing a blue dress.
I guess this guy is more of the king than a prince that would make this girl a princess. Ok, now I have names. King guy and princess, perfect. Ok, I'm not good with names, but that's what I'm going with.
A young woman walks out, following behind the daughter. She has brown hair as well, but it's longer. This must be the girl's mother. That makes her a queen of this little town. So now we have three characters. I'm still just standing here waiting for my next objective. Come on, hurry up, what's next.
The king picks up the princess and holds her close. The princess looks over at me, and she huddles behind the king. The king gently pets her head and looks up at me. He spoke in that unknown language, but then a voice echoes around my head in Japanese.
"Defend the house."
I bow my head towards the king, the princess giggles at me. I quickly turn around to gaze around the mansion. This is the most unsecured mansion ever; it's open and accessible. This is definitely no whiterun. Even this kingdom is not defended at all—no wonder this guy needs someone like me to protect his home and family.
I'm able to make stone spikes, but a stone spike dome won't look that good. It might look like a horror movie. I have earth magic, terrain magic but that about it.
<Proficiency has reached the required level. Acquired skills. [Thought Acceleration]>
Oh, that's cool. It must make me think faster? I don't know. I can't look at my skills or hp bar; the only time was with that stone. I wish I knew what that thing was.
Defend! Defend! Defend! That's right. I need to protect this mansion. The king and his family walk inside the manor. Earth walls shoot out all around the mansion. The walls are made out of rock and stand two feet taller than me. There is a large gap between the wall in the front where the road is. I fell on one knee. That magic took more effort than I thought. I guess a few spikes are nothing compared to a giant wall. I stand back up, looking all around. Time to guard and watch.
There is nothing here. I have been standing here for hours and yet nothing, so I might as well try and get more skills. But how do I get skills in this world? In most games, you level up, but there are only people here, no monsters. I would like to upgrade my arsenal with some fun powers like a magic blast. A laser beam from my mouth or eye. That would be cool. Or maybe a skill that lets me understand this language would be nice! If I think back a bit, I can remember my stats, but I barely remember. I would really like a skill to turn me back into a human. No offense to golems, but I am too tall.
Suddenly the little girl walks over to me. The princess. She looks over at me. I turn to face her, but she quickly runs away. Does she need something? I walk over to her, but she quickly runs the opposite way. We soon start walking in circles around each other. She says something once again I don't understand.
"Stop!"
I stop in place. I look over at her, waiting; she turns around confused and tilts her head. Why is she confused? She is the one who asks me to stop.
The king steps out of the manor towards his daughter. He knees down to face her. They start talking to each other. The princess says something to me.
"Jump!"
I jump once. The ground shakes a bit when I land.
She says another thing.
"Wave."
I wave at the little girl.
She speaks again.
"Run in a circle."
I begin to run around in a circle. Ok, what is this! I'm not some puppy.
The little girl speaks again.
"Dance."
I start dancing. Ok, now she is getting on my nerves. I am use to this kind of thing, but dancing is over the line. I have never dance in my life. Why does this little girl think I'm some pet? My objective is to protect them, not dance.
<Proficiency has reached the required level skill [Obedience LV2] has become [Obedience LV3]>
Shut up! Stupid voice in my head. I'm not an obedient dog that does tricks.
The little princess and king start laughing at my pain. Well, I'm glad they are enjoying themselves, at least. I stop and look around the manor. This place is still safe, with no enemy nearby. I turn my gaze back upon the princess. They look happy.
I wonder if I can be that happy? In my old life, there was nothing that brought me happiness. But there was something I remember now.
"Hey, Yuki?" I turn to face a boy. He was two feet taller than me.
"What is it?" I look up at him
"Can you give this to Hiiro?" He hands me a love letter.
"Why?" I tilt my head.
"It's a love letter. But if she denies it says you wrote it. Got it!"
"Why?"
"Because. I don't want other people to think I wrote something like this if it doesn't work."
"Ok then. Who is Hiiro?" I grab the letter.
"Ugh. How do you not know? She is the pretty girl in Mis.Oga class usually reading a book. She usually sits alone, hurry up already. I don't want anyone else to see us talking." He walks away from me.
I walk over to Mis.Oka class. It was before classes started so everyone was here just doing their own thing. I gaze upon the room, looking around. There she was, sitting alone, reading a book. I move over to her, placing the letter right in front of her book. She quickly looks over at it without saying a thing. She just looks at it more without saying anything. I push the letter more in front of her face. I need her to open it.
"Here," I say.
"What?" She asked.
"Love letter," I say.
She looks up at me. Because I was so small, her sitting down was around my height. I look over at her eyes. They seem so hollow. They were not sad, angry, or happy. They looked empty as if they felt nothing? When I gaze into those eyes, I see a mirror of myself. Those eyes felt so familiar because they are the same eyes I see when I look in the mirror every day. Not happy, not mad, not sad, just living the motions of life. When I saw those eyes, I was going to put the letter back, but it was too late. Hiiro grabbed it from me.
She opens the letter and reads it over before crumpling it up. She then just shakes her head no and just shoo me away with her hand like a bug. I am suppose to explain that I wrote that letter, but I guess she already thinks that. I can see other's gaze at me. Some laugh while others whisper among each other. I know they are talking about me, but all I can focus on is those eyes. Empty. Without realizing it, I reach my hand out to her face. She looks at me, confused and concern moving back. My face turns to a bright shade of red. I quickly ran out of there as fast as I could, slamming the door to the classroom behind me. After that day, I decided to never talk to anyone in that class again. Well, that failed since later someone asks me to do the same thing, but this time a boy, and that's how I ended up dead.
<Proficiency has reached the required level skill [Thought Acceleration LV1] has become [Thought Acceleration LV2]>
The king and princess head back to the mansion. Why did I think of a story like that! That was a story of pain!!! Rumor spread, saying that I was into Hiiro. And that stupid guy who gave me that objective was the one who started those rumors. Aghhhh!!
I sigh. I'm so glad I'm not going to see any of them at all now. This is my new life now. Back to guarding. My current objective in this life. I must protect his family.
