Chapter Text
Today was the day. Hitoshi was ready...probably. No, he was. He just needed to take a few deep breaths to steady his nerves and open the door...any second now.
Ok, he was anxious, but could anyone really blame him? Today was the day where he would move his things to class 2A’s dorms. He worked so hard for this and he was finally being transferred in the heroic course. He would think he was dreaming if it weren’t for the fact that the rare times he did sleep he barely dreamt at all.
He carefully moved the box he was holding so he’d be able to open the door more easily, but it swung open on its own.
“Oh!” Midoriya blinked, looking surprised. “Shinso! Hello!” His lips bloomed in a tentative smile.
Hitoshi nodded in acknowledgment. “Midoriya. Isn’t it a bit early to be awake? The sun has barely risen.” He asked, fully aware of his hypocrisy.
“Aren’t you awake and walking around too?”
“You are mistaken, I am never awake.”
Midoriya snorted. “Here, let me help you. I’m sure there’s some coffee inside if you’d like some.” He said, already moving to take two of his boxes off of the ground, smiling gently and entering the building.
Hitoshi raised an eyebrow.
“Well aren’t you going to ask before butting in someone else’s business?” He asked calmly as he followed the other inside and watched him take off his shoes, making Hitoshi realise that the other was probably heading for a morning run that he inadvertently interrupted.
He was in the middle of doing the same when Midoriya turned and looked at him seriously, his usual smile absent from his face, making Hitoshi stop on reflex to give the other his full attention.
“It’s a hero’s job to meddle and give help, no matter how small the problem, it’s our duty and privilege to help.” He then smiled, happy and way too sunny to look directly. “Besides, what kind of classmate would I be if I didn’t help you to get comfortable?”
And ok, that was one of the nicest things anyone said to him ever. He followed the other silently, as Midoriya explained to him where everything was.
“I’ll explain to you how we divide work later when you finish moving. There are lots of unwritten rules, like to never touch Kacchan’s food, but everything is divided in the fridge so it should be easy enough to remember.”
“All I need to know are the rules about coffee” He replied calmly as they entered the elevator and Midoriya laughed softly.
“Of course!” He chirped. “Fifth floor right?” Hitoshi nodded and Midoriya pressed the button. “The rule is to never waste coffee, but that’s for every edible. The first to wake up usually makes a pot for everyone. I think at least half of the class drinks coffee, the others prefer tea. You can use as much as you want but please let Iida know if only a little is left so he can organise a shopping trip.”
The elevator’s doors opened and Midoriya led him to the first door to his right. “Should I leave the boxes outside?”
“Nah, the inside is the standard room, you can come in. Leave them on the floor.” Hitoshi said, opening the door.
“Ok! How many more do you have?”
“I can do it alone, I only have a couple more boxes in my old room.”
“It’s ok, I can run there and count it as part of my morning run and you’ll have more time to unpack.”
Hitoshi shrugged. “Sure, why not.”
They both jogged towards the Gen Ed dorms and back, then finally Midoriya parted with him to actually start his morning jog. Not that it took a long time, the whole process couldn’t have been more than 20 minutes. Still, Hitoshi felt a bit bad for meddling with the other’s training like that, he knew how strict training regimes were.

When Hitoshi finished arranging his room and got to the kitchen for coffee it was a slightly more acceptable time to be alive, but only barely. There were a couple of people in various states of wakefulness sitting at the table. Behind the stove, Bakugo was cooking like the ingredients had personally offended him, which they probably did with how fragile his ego was. Next to him Midoriya was scrambling some eggs. By the table, Momo was pouring some tea and passing it to a very sleepy looking Todoroki. Next to him, Uraraka was seemingly asleep again with her head on the table.
Midoriya glanced at his direction. “Oh, did you finish unpacking Shinso-kun?” He asked as he started pouring eggs in the pan.
“Yes, thanks for the help.”
“Anytime! Do you have a personal mug? The coffee is ready.”
Hitoshi raised an eyebrow but nodded, raising his white mug with little black cats. Midoriya smiled and nodded towards the coffee maker before turning back to the eggs, carefully rolling the okonomiyaki.
Hitoshi served himself coffee and sat down next to Todoroki, silently observing the two cooking breakfast. People slowly entered the room and took seats while serving themselves coffee or tea.
Hitoshi watched as Midoriya and Bakugo started serving breakfast, bringing out rice, miso soup, okonomiyaki and salmon for people who ate a traditional japanese breakfast, pancakes and french toasts for those who preferred american.
“What would you like to eat Shinso-kun?” Midoriya asked, serving a steaming bowl of rice to Todoroki. “If you don’t like anything I can make some onigiri if you’d prefer.”
Hitoshi looked at him, confused.
“You already cooked a lot, there’s no need to prepare something only for me.”
Uraraka snorted on her pancake. “You better just tell him what you’d like, he’ll just fret and overthink if you don’t.”
Midoriya’s cheeks turned red and looked embarrassed.
“Izuku-chan is like a mom, kero. He knows all of our preferences. Fumi-chan’s pancakes have apples in them, kero. He loves apples.”
Tokoyami raised his head and nodded.
“Every serving is slightly different! It’s super manly! Look, I have bacon with my pancakes!” By this point Midoriya was covering his face with his hands, as red as a strawberry.
“But don’t ask for ice cream, he won’t serve it at breakfast!” Mina pouted.
“Of course I won’t serve it, you can’t have ice cream for breakfast!”
“Midoriya-kun is right, a balanced breakfast is essential for us to do our best in school!”
Hitoshi hesitated at Iida’s enthusiastic ramble because he usually only drank coffee...that was a problem.
“Pancakes are good.” He said, hoping he wouldn’t be served a big portion.
“Coming right up!” Chirped Midoriya, busying himself at the stove.
A few moments later a truly humongous pile of pancakes was served in front of him. At least what he would describe it as, but by the lack of reaction from the rest of the table, it was a normal amount of pancakes.
“This may be too much for me Midoriya.” He said hesitantly, glancing at the other that was finally sitting down with a traditional japanese breakfast in front of him. Hitoshi could pinpoint the exact moment his face dropped.
“Oh. I’m sorry. You don’t have to eat everything! We can reheat it tomorrow!”
“See! He’s like a mom.” Jiro winked. Hitoshi smirked.
“More like a housewife.”
Multiple people choked on their food or drinks.
Midoriya let his chopsticks slip from his grasp and they clattered on the table, face gradually turned redder and redder.
Todoroki turned towards him so fast Hitoshi could hear his neck creak.
“Did you just propose to Deku?” Uraraka whispered, eyes starting to shine in excitement.
“What? No, I’m just saying he acts like a housewife!”
“Your housewife?” Mina poked, a smile stretching on her face.
“Please, if Midoriya is anyone’s wife it’s Todoroki’s.” Kaminari said, nodding like he said something really profound.
“Please stop joking over who I should marry.” Midoriya whined, hands over his red face.
“Hey, I want Deku to be my housewife!” Uraraka said, standing up, waving her fork around. “I’m ready to fight you all for his hand!”
Midoriya whimpered once again as Tsuyu slowly patted his back while the whole table exploded in literal chaos.
“Please stop embarrassing Midoriya-kun! Hurry up and eat or we’ll be late!” Iida scolded everyone, hand moving robotically.
“Aye aye class prez!”
“But I want the right to fight for Midoriya’s hand too!” Hagakure whined and Midoriya made a sound like a dying whale.
“How did you know we love teasing Mido-kun with affection?” Seto asked Hitoshi who just shrugged.
“I was just being myself and chaos somehow happened.”
“That’s normal for us, that doesn't count as chaos.” Shoji’s mouth nearest Hitoshi said sagely.
“What a mad banquet of darkness…” Said Tokoyami and Hitoshi couldn’t agree more.
