Why Me?

Summary:

Minatozaki Sana, a flirty patient tries to make her way into Dr. Kim's heart

Notes:

Hello! I'm just reposting my work here from aff, if you haven't read it yet. Feel free! #Saida!

Work Text:

It was a stormy day in the hospital where Sana is residing for almost 2 years now due to her condition which needs to be monitored 24/7 and at first it was a total war with the nurses and doctors but then as time goes by, she had learned to accept it and continued her life as patient 712.

A bad weather meant Sana wouldn't be able to use the rooftop to her liking and that saddened her. The rooftop is where she'd usually enjoy the outside world without having to look at the dull colors of white and sometimes blue whenever she goes through her tests.

Unlike any other facilities, the rooftop is an extremely safe place for patients like her, not that she was suicidal to begin with. In actuality the rooftop consists of a mini-garden, indian tents which was surrounded by fairy lights in the inside, benches where one can enjoy the fresh and cool breeze of the wind. It was great that the location of the hospital is situated away from the city proper as it's not a hospital designed for taking in emergency-type of patients, they got their main branch at the center of Seoul to take care of that, this building was merely for long-term patients who are in their healing process.

And Sana was one of that.

Sad as she may be, the rain couldn't bring down Sana just like that. This situation simply means she'd have to go on full duty in annoying a certain grumpy doctor, the one she has a crush on the moment she laid her eyes on her.

"Dahyun-aaaah!"

Kim Dahyun, the Doctor in subject, flinched and burned her tongue with the hot choco she's about to sip on.

"Aish—" Dahyun popped a vein as she turned around, fully expecting to come face to face with the only voice having a high-pitched sound like that in the hospital.

The nurses around them can't help but laugh at the usual scene they'd see everyday. Dahyun would get annoyed to the point that she got tired in scolding her and would just face Sana in her poker face as the latter expresses her love to her in different kinds of flirty expressions.

In the end Dahyun sighed and looked away, trying to ignore the older girl before she loses her sanity as she still have work to do.

"Hmph! Dahyun-ah! Don't ignore me! You need your daily dose of Sana-chan!" The older girl followed her cutely towards Dahyun's office.

"That's funny. How about your daily dose of vitamins and meds? You took that yet?" Dahyun simply fired back, not even looking at her as she placed her hot choco on its holder before proceeding to open a few documents she'd have to check for the day.

"Errr hehehe." Sana just cutely laughed as she scratched her temple.

"That's why I told you Dahyun-ah! Why can't you just be my doctor instead? In that way, I'll heal quickly." Just in time Dahyun raised her head to look at the patient in front of her, Sana had already attacked her with seductive winks which by the way did not have any effect on Dahyun.

Dahyun sighed for the nth time, "Sana I'm a Cardiologist, you're fine with that area. What am I suppose to do when you have seizures?"

Sana stopped for a moment before smirking as she leaned further on Dahyun's table, "You can do a CPR on me Doc, I'd very much appreciate it."

There it is again, that godforsaken wink. Sometimes Dahyun thinks, does Sana really have a brain problem? Because it seems like she can use it just fine...well at least in this area.

"Please go back to your room patient 712, your doctor will freak out once he finds out you're not in your room...again." There was a depressing tone in Dahyun's voice. No one can blame her, she totally knows what it felt to have rounds then have that mini-heart attack whenever she finds the patient missing from their assigned rooms.

"But it's raining! Looking at the accumulated clouds outside it's safe to say—"

"—a thunderstorm will occur, yeah yeah. Look, you're relocated on a room that cancels out noise from outside, you can't hear the thunder and just close the curtains if you're so afraid of it."

Sana pouted but it immediately curled into a smirk, "Yahh~ how'd you know about that huh? Did my constant nagging finally made you see me as a woman now?"

Dahyun stopped signing on the papers and pulled out her eyeglasses, placed it on the table before she leaned back on her swivel chair, "You literally pushed the emergency button last month. You were frantically looking for me and when I went there you just want me to lay down with you cause you're afraid of the thunder."

The young doctor pushed herself up and rolled up her sleeve to check the time. Dahyun walked around the desk and grabbed Sana's wrist which caused the older girl to blush harder (she was already blushing at what Dahyun said earlier).

"Let's go, your Doctor's rounds is about to begin."

Who wouldn't? It was the first time Sana heard Dahyun's soften her voice and not to mention her eyes that were focusing on her as she speaks. When Dahyun first came here, Sana was having trouble approaching her as she was impenetrable and looked like she was always on guard with her feelings. Not only that but Dahyun was also a very grumpy person, she wasn't mean, more of like reserved and didn't really liked to talk much.

That's why that was Sana's first taste of having an actual conversation with Kim Dahyun.

~~~
"...and she gave me her share! Aaaaaa Mo, I can feel that she's starting to reciprocate my feelings!"
Momo, a flight stewardess and also her best friend who's currently munching on the jokbal she supposedly bought for Sana. It didn't matter to the latter though as she's currently preoccupied in daydreaming about a certain doctor.
"Eh? I think she would've done the same to any patient she sees with a vegetable-free tray."
Apparently Sana was telling her about her lunch date with Dahyun yesterday. It was the first time Dahyun had lunch in the cafeteria and Sana couldn't just let that opportunity slip away. As a doctor, Dahyun felt offended looking at Sana's set of meal that's why she wasn't able to control herself and gave her nutrition-filled lunch to the older one.
"Tch. Why do you have to be such a bummer?" Sana pouts and Momo suddenly looked at her in a serious manner.
"Yah, Sana are you sure about what you feel towards this Doctor? You know you're—"
"You don't have to remind me about that. My doctor said I'm fine, my vitals are alright and I don't have any seizures anymore, it's already been a year since it stopped and I still don't get why I'm still not released here." Sana's frown turned to a genuine smile as she dreamily went to space once again, "I'm not complaining though. I get to see my Dr. Crush everyday but sometimes I'd like to at least meet her outside this building. Go to real parks and have real dates!"
"Well yeah you should get well soon and maybe make her reciprocate that idea since I highly doubt she does."
Sana slapped her best friend's shoulder. If there's one thing Momo's good at and that's destroying moments.
"By the way where's Tzuyu? I miss her already. She's a better visitor than you to be really freaking honest."
Momo shrugged and crossed her legs, "She'll be visiting you next week. Her business in Taiwan took a lot longer than she expected."
"What's her job again?"
"Mediator."
"Yeah like hell I understand that."
Momo furrowed her eyebrows and looked at Sana, "Yah? Isn't it awkward?"
Sana grabbed the basket of fruits and set aside the apples before grabbing a tangerine and started peeling it when Momo asked the question, "Huh? Awkward? Why would it be?"
"You almost got married to Tzu, she's still single, and she still gives a flying fuck about you or why else would she visit you almost everyday?"
That's right. Chou Tzuyu was a family friend and quite close to her parents too that's why the idea of marriage arose and fortunately her declination didn't make any issue between them. Sana really just can't like Tzuyu that way, she knew what her attitude is whenever she's really into someone and though she might find Tzuyu attractive and sweet (she did like her a lot...as a friend) but that ain't it.
Kim Dahyun as of today was the real deal.
Sana was so into her.
"We're civil though?" Sana wasn't exactly sure how to respond to Momo.
Sana may have brain problems but she wasn't dumb not to see Tzuyu's actions. It was filled with adoration and the only thing that kept them the way they are today is the fact that Tzuyu was gentlewoman enough not to put any pressuring-actions towards her.
Though Sana definitely feels Tzuyu's going to slowly cross that line sooner or later.
"Yeah tell that to your mother who's secretly on the move in planning out your wedding."
Sana literally spits out a tangerine seed and hits Momo right on the face, "Yuck—ugh Sana!"
"SERIOUSLY?!"
Sana can't believe this. What was her mother thinking? Taking advantage of her situation, that's just low!
"No way! If there's someone I'd want to have by my side at the altar it'd be Kim Dahyun!" Out of mixed anger and frustration, Sana stood up and that made her hospital watch beep repeatedly.
Momo almost panicked when Sana groaned and placed a hand on her head. Thankfully,the nurses here are fast enough to assist Sana in calming down.
"Chaewon please get Dr. Kim immediately!"
Since it was Sana's heart rate that had changes, it would not be a surprise if Kim Dahyun comes barging in with her stethoscope hanging around her neck.
After the situation has calmed down, Dahyun returned to the room after having a talk with Momo regarding what happened, followed by the former and Sana's Doctor in charge.
"You really should take care of your heart Sana-ssi." Dahyun started.
"How can I? When you have it Dah-yun-aah~"
That was Sana's flirtatious comeback and that actually got Dahyun to shut up and revert back to her usual poker face.
Momo pinched Sana's side and whisper-yelled, "Bitch you already had me worried! So please don't embarrass me—Dr. Kim this really not my friend, I'm just a visitor."
Sana's doctor in charge, who's in his late 50s, just laughed, and pats Dahyun's back, "Well congratulations Sana, you're having a good feedback in your recovery."
Sana and Momo looked at each other, "What do you mean Doc?"
"It means that the region where your brain stopped working has started to function again. We still have to do more MRI tests to monitor your brain though I have to say you're pretty much doing well already."
That information brought a wide smile on Sana and Momo's faces and desipte being happy with the result, Momo can't help but ask.
"Why did it affect Sana's heart though? Wasn't it dangerous?"
It was Dahyun's time to cut in, "Oh not at all, it was just a natural reaction. The region that started working again was kind of abrupt that's why it shocked the heart. I still have to monitor your heart beat now and then but—"
"Please monitor me for the rest of my life!" Sana blurted out which earned her a slap on the thigh from her best friend.
"—I will be out of town starting tomorrow so Dr. Min will be the one to do that."
Sana's mood really went downhill after that. She didn't even noticed Momo and her Doctor in charge leaving the room until she heard Dahyun sigh.
"4 days. I'll only be gone for four days." Truthfully Dahyun didn't know why she had to explain but she felt the need to.
Sana looked at her, deflated along with her infamous pout, "That's too long Dahyun-ah."
Even her 'Dahyun-ah' sounds melancholy.
"I have to go back to the city to fix some things. You, on the other hand, should be happy with the progress you're getting." Dahyun said but it seems to have no effect on Sana as the pout was still there.
With this, Dahyun resorted to her doctor tricks when she was still a pediatrician.
"Say, if you progress a lot till the next 4 days. I'll bring you out to the city for a day."
Now that caught Sana's attention. Excitement rush in as she leaned in and grabbed Dahyun's hands without any warning.
"Seriously?! Oh my god! Is it really possible? Yah! Kim Dahyun don't you dare lie to my face or I'll have you sleep beside me for the whole week."
Dahyun definitely felt chills for the first in a while after Sana said that plus she'd rather not.
"I'm not the type to lie Sana, just drink your medicine and vitamins regularly. If I can see progress then I will make that happen."
Sana's squeal filled the room after that.
~~~

D-Day. According to Sana it was THE Day of Dahyun's return and her promise of having a date in the city. Sana had already asked for Momo regarding the outfit she'd like to wear and now she's pretty much ready with just some light make-up on.

Although she's in her late 20s, Sana felt like a high-schooler on her first date. It was refreshing and she couldn't contain her excitement to the point that she dreamt about different kinds of date scenarios for 5 straight days.

Much to their promise, Sana really did everything she can to up her progress.

Sana looked at the mirror once more, debating if she should change to that fitting turtle neck and plaid skirt or stick to this white off-shoulders and denim pants.

"Hmmm I wonder what Dahyun prefers—"

She was cut off in her train of thoughts when a knock was heard.

A wide smile has spread across Sana's face as she happily skipped to the door.

"Dah—oh."

Only to be greeted with Tzuyu's face.

"I'm sorry, were you expecting someone unnie?"

Sana snapped back to her thoughts and invited Tzuyu in. The two settled on the room's couch, it was actually convenient that Sana's room is big enough to occupy 15 people in.

"Yep. I'm actually waiting for my Doctor. How about you Tzu? Momo told me you won't be back till at least next week?" She asked, not evening trying to hide the fact that she's going on a "date" with Dahyun.

Though that might of have been misinterpreted by the younger one. It was normal for Sana to wait for her Doctor, what's not normal is Sana dressing up for that.

"Hmmm well I got help from my brother and figured I should visit you as soon as possible." Tzuyu smiled sweetly which only made Sana feel bad for her.

The older girl really does appreciate the way Tzuyu takes care of her but that's exactly the problem here, Sana doesn't want to be treated like that she wants to be looked at, eye to eye and not like someone who relies to others just because she's sick.

To sum it up she needed someone to have faith in her that she, in her own will and prowess, can stand on her own feet. Tzuyu wasn't making her feel like that. Sana's a headstrong woman and Tzuyu knows that yet she's applying friction through her actions, thinking it was the best thing to do.

There's no wrong with it. Not that Sana hates Tzuyu visiting her, in fact she enjoys Tzuyu's company. Sana likes getting pampered but just...not this way or to be more precise, not from her.

"Oh."

Now how would Sana tell Tzuyu she has plans for today? Despite Sana's frustration about Tzuyu, she doesn't want the younger girl to be upset, not after going straight to the hospital after a long hour travel.

"Is there something wrong? Wait don't tell me I came in a wrong time? Do you have tests for today?" Tzuyu panicked.

Sana can only chuckle a little before shaking her head, "I don't have tests today but I am going on a date."

Fuck finding reasons. Sana can't lie to Tzuyu, it's the best form of respect she can give. Tzuyu has been honest with her in a lot of times and she just wanted to return that favor.

Confusion plastered on Tzuyu's face as she tried to understand and break down Sana's sentences. Who wouldn't? When Sana said it all so casually it's like a bullet just passed through her ear and she wasn't able to comprehend what it was at first.

"Pardon? A date?"

Sana can see Tzuyu's puzzled face so she nodded her head, "You don't need to worry Tzu. My doctor told me my progress took a huge leap after Momo's visit the other day."

"I—Uhh—That's not—What?" Tzuyu paused for about thirty seconds before she collected herself and spoke again, "Unnie I'm glad that you're getting well but a date? With who? And you shouldn't be allowed to leave the hospital unless you're fully okay. Who knows what might happen to you out there."

Sana can now clearly see what's making her frustrated with the way Tzuyu treats her. Stretching out her patience, she sighed and looked at Tzuyu, "Don't you think I deserve this Tzu? I've been here for 2 years and I barely remember the feeling of riding a train so please why can't you just give this to me? Besides what could go wrong? I'm with a Doctor, surely that'll be reassuring enough for you."

Tzuyu reluctantly agreed with that but she hasn't voiced it out yet and instead brought up Sana's mother, "Have you talked with your mother about this?"

Mother?

Sana scoffed, "Mother? Her last visit was when I can't calm down crying during my first 5 days in the hospital."

Tzuyu gets it. Well if Sana wishes to have a stroll outside and with a Doctor (Tzuyu thought the date is all about Sana's Neuro doing the older girl a favor) nonetheless, she guessed there was nothing to worry about.

"Okay I'm sorry. You should've said you wanted to go outside Unnie. I could've brought you out if you wanted to." The younger girl stated.

That was really not the case at all. It was Kim Dahyun they're talking about. Sana's all-time crush. It's not a matter of her going out it's the "who" she's going with.

"I know you're busy Tzu. I noticed you've been distressed lately and your visits are getting shorter." Sana pointed out.

Tzuyu might be her 'almost' but she still cared for her like how an older sister takes care of their sibling.

"Look, you don't need to visit when you're not feeling okay. Your health must be your priority."

Tzuyu smiled at this and stood up. She walked over to Sana and ruffled her hair, "Says the one who's in the hospital."

"Yah! I just did that!" Sana said referring to her hair.

"You're right unnie. Being a mediator for my brother and my mother isn't easy and it's taking a toll on me. I guess I do have to resort in asking for Elkie's help." Tzuyu explained followed by a depressing sigh.

Sana internally smiled, she knew Elkie from Nayeon's constant "tea-sharing" with her whenever the older girl visits and from the looks of it, Sana needn't to be worried about Tzuyu's feelings for her.

That might change sooner or later and Sana's perfectly fine with that.

"I wish you Good Luck in your predicament Tzu." Sana genuinely said, embracing the younger one.

"Hmmm yeah well good luck in your rehabilitation too. Get well soon unnie, so that I can bring you to our usual sushi place in Busan."

Sana's smile widened, "I'd love that!"

Sana was right when she said Tzuyu's visits are getting shorter. It did not take long for the younger one to bid good-bye when she received a text message saying her mother yelled at her sister-in-law once again.

Now the japanese girl went back to waiting.

"What's taking Dahyun awfully long?" She muttered and decided to lay down for a while.

For a while turned to hours and when she woke up it's already late in the afternoon.

"Dahyun-ah?"

Sana squinted her eyes and saw her meal (provided by the hospital) on a tray, sitting on the table.

No Kim Dahyun appeared that day.

~~

"Good Morning Dr. Kim."

"You look sleek today Dr. Kim!"

"Oh? No duty today?" Jungkook the head nurse asked her after Dahyun handed out some files for the station.

"Nah I have to take a patient out." Dahyun simply said.

Jungkook switched over to his teasing face and poked his boyfriend beside him, who's also a nurse assigned on this station.

"Hey Tae, heard that? Dahyun's actually getting a life!"

Dahyun rolled her eyes at that.

Taehyung grinned before securing the documents Dahyun gave, "Didn't know you're into patients Dahyun-ah."

Dahyun rolled up a magazine on the counter and hits the two with it. Jungkook and Taehyun just laughed at this while Dahyun glared at them, "Yah I swear if rumors starts to spread I'm going to break your necks. You both know I have a—"

It was Taehyung who stopped Dahyun's rapping and shushed her, "Yeah, yeah we know. Just get out of our sight before we start to tease you again. You grumpy hooman being."

Jungkook snickered at that only to be hit by another rolled magazine from his back, "Oww!"

"Stop teasing my cousin and start doing some serious work."

Behind Jungkook is another grumpy Doctor but unlike Dahyun he completely had his life sucked out of him as evident on his lazy eyes and bad posture.

"Yoongi-oppa." Dahyun greeted and Yoongi just responded with a small wave before hitting Jungkook again with a rolled paper.

"I need you to take a blood sample on patient 316 and get patient 420's blood pressure, after that check patient 207's vital stats."

Taehyung and Dahyun supressed their laughter at this, talk about karma.

Jungkook's face fell and he slowly approached the older one with such care, "H-hyung that's like 3 different floors. You do know we're in the 5th floor, right?"

Yoongi placed his cup of coffee on the counter and looked at him, "Yeah but then so what?"

"Pfft." Before Dahyun can even laugh at Jungkook's face she started walking away from the scene but not without giving him a pat on the back, "Karma is my pet."

By the time Dahyun reached Sana's door, it was already time for breakfast whicu meant that Dahyun was too early and that is because she wanted Sana to fullt enjoy the day.

But that does not seem to be the case when she saw Sana laying on the bed and has her back facing her.

"Hoh? What's this? Sana-ssi? I assumed you're at least getting rea—"

Dahyun wasn't able to finish her sentence when Sana turned around, still on her off-shoulders from yesterday and her eyes were red from all the crying she had last night.

The Doctor immediately went to Sana's side and took her hand on her own or more like placing a finger on her wrist, a habitnshe developed whenever she's panicking.

"Sana, what happened? Why are you crying?"

"I waited...I waited for you Dahyun-ah." Sana's voice cracked.

Huh? Dahyun wasn't able to get her at first but when her eyes landed on the calendar with x markings she finally knew the case.

Oh. Dahyun missed a day.

Dahyun said she's going to be back by 5 days and yet it took her 6. She didn't even noticed and that suddenly made her feel guilty.

"Oh my god Sana. I'm so so sorry. I lost track of time they're not listeni—sigh—there's no excuse for my actions. Please forgive me."

Instead of getting angry Sana teared up once again and cupped Dahyun's face, "I got so worried...so so worried. I asked the station for you and even your secretary. They told me you can't be contacted. Kim Dahyun-ah! Stop worrying me!"

Dahyun was taken a back with this, a tinge of confusion flashed through her face quickly before Sana can even realize it.

So this is what Sana is feeling.

"I...kind of shut myself out from everyone the whole day. It's–It's a personal matter and..not really something to worry about." Dahyun said, attempting to assure her that she was fine.

Although Sana was reluctant in believing her, there was nothing Sana could do but be happy that Dahyun is back here with her despite the questions that she's itching to ask based on what Dahyun told her.

When Sana pulled Dahyun in for a hug, the Doctor sighed and decided not to struggle like the usual. Dahyun thought that Sana must've been real scared and wasn't able to sleep properly that's why she broke off the huh and walked towards the door to lock it.

"Dahyun?"

Dahyun inwardly sighed, "Good lord forgive me for this."

With her usual expression on, Dahyun climbed on the bed and pats the space where Sana was laying down earlier, "I know it's a bit cramped but I figured I should let you rest first before going out."

This gesture alone already made Sana's day. She was indeed tired from crying that's why she has no objections with this.

"Haì!"

Sana jumped in and positions herself under Dahyun's chin, leaning a little bit too close for Dahyun's liking.

"Uhrmm, I think you're too close Sana-ssi."

Sana just smiled at that, "Heh? But I think I can sleep better in this."

In the end Dahyun lost and sighed....for the nth time before Sana dozed off and not sooner, Dahyun did too.

When she woke up Sana has already left the bed and is now in front of the mirror, checking out the 2nd outfit from her choices yesterday: the slim-fit turtle neck and plaid skirt.

The sight was too good to be true until Sana turned around and her honey-brown eyes greeted her along with Sana's wide smile which seems to have brought an effect on Dahyun's system.

Oh no this is bad, Dahyun thought.

"Ah. I see you're getting ready."

"Yep! Now you better spend this day making up for yesterday!"

Dahyun only gave her a lopsided smile, "Sure."

Sana was statued to the ground. Did Dahyun just smiled at her? AT her? It wasn't the first time she saw Dahyun smile, she sees it often whenever the latter is with Jungkook and Taehyung but a smile directed at her? That was new!

"Yah! Are you coming or not?"

Sana got out of her trance and scrambled to follow Dahyun outside, "Coming!"

~

"Woah! I never knew the hospital was that far from the city!"

Sana pretty much looked like a kid on a roadtrip right now. Dahyun can't blame her, she had read Sana's case and it was only natural for someone who's been in the hospital for almost 2 years now.

"Yeah the building needs to be pollution-free for the patients to enjoy the breeze on the rooftop. You included, you love it there right?"

"Oh I do! The aura it gives every night is majestic!"

Dahyun only smiles as she proceeds to listen to Sana blabbing about things as she drives their way to town.

"You know you should smile often."

As soon as Sana blurted that out, Dahyun's face dropped back to her usual poker one.

"Yah!" Sana playfully hits her.

"If you want us to crash then be my guest."

Sana just rolled her eyes before she sets her gaze back outside and dreamily looks at the trees they're passing by.

The two arrive in Seoul and the first thing Dahyun did was pull them up in a restaurant majoring in the breakfast to lunch category. The bell rang when Dahyun opened the door. She was instantly recognized by the staff and led her to a table on the second floor where a great view of the city can be seen.

"Will you have the usual Dr. Kim?" The waitress asked as she was taking their order.

"Uhhh." Dahyun glanced at Sana before replying, "Just tell Jeongyeon I'd have a mix breakfast and lunch meal." The waitress didn't asked any questions and just wrote it down.

The restaurant's owner, Yoo Jeongyeon is Dahyun's best friend and she's also a regular that's why whatever Dahyun orders, Jeongyeon's the chef to serve her.

"How about you Sana-ssi? What do you like?"

It was too late when Dahyun realized she stepped on a landmine. Sana had already propped her chin on her palm and looked at her seductively before winking.

Dahyun coughed and ordered in her behalf, "Just get her my usual lunch meal minus the ramen, hmmm give her a stew instead."

Sana raised a brow at this, "Hoh? That's such a girlfriend material Dahyun-ah, why would you assume I'm not into ramen?"

"I'm not assuming. Ramen's nutritional values doesn't come in line with yours that's why I let you have a stew instead though I doubt that was necessary of me when you're already doing a good job reganing your health back. Do you want a ramen instead?"

Sana smiled at that, she felt happy to know that Dahyun trusts her in this and that Dahyun sees her effort in getting well but then again that might just be her doctor communicating skills.

In the end Sana just laughed as she waves her hand, "Nah I'm not really up for ramen anyways. The stew was a good pick."

Sana and Dahyun finished their brunch and was on their way to the heart of the city.

"So what do you want to do next Sana-ssi? This is your day so please enjoy it to the fullest." Dahyun stated the moment she pulled the car to the side.

"Wow it's been so long since I've seen these huge buildings. Hmmmm."

Sana was in deep thought before she turned to Dahyun with a big smile on her face.

Dahyun sighed at this.

~~

"Dahyun-ah! It's starting!"

Sana shook her shoulders excitedly while Dahyun can only grab unto the rail handle as the train departs the station.

Yes, that's right. Sana's first request was to ditch Dahyun's car and commute throughout their whole 'date' and Dahyun went paler than usual after hearing that but what can she do? She did told Sana it was her day so there's no stopping her now.

First destination was Lotte world, Sana wanted to relive her memories of this since the last time she went here was when Momo and Nayeon snuck her out of the house during college days. The two did not engage in any rides as per Dahyun's instructions, Sana's still a patient with brain problems, who knows what kind of effect those extreme rides will do to the older girl (if Sana was to say something, Dahyun's just frightened to ride one) and Sana was fine with that.

The two just took a stroll and bought little things that Sana fancied. Sana can't help but roam her eyes everywhere from a group of teenagers to young couples to a family, she can't help but adore them while Dahyun on the other hand can't look at anywhere but Sana's face as she gets entranced by her surroundings.

After that Sana requested to stop by a Cafe where she talks about her work and how much she misses it, Dahyun learned Sana was a kindergarten teacher but graduated to be a flight attendant. Sana talked a lot more about the life she had before she got admitted and Dahyun just carefully listened, humming from time to time.

The two then went to a park where the cherry blossom trees are supposed to bloom but unfortunately they are not in the right season for it yet.

"That's too bad. I guess our timing was off." Dahyun muttered once they saw the leaf-less trees around them.

Instead of getting dismayed, Sana just giggled before clinging on Dahyun's arm, "That's fine with me! It would mean that you have to take me back here once it blooms!"

Dahyun can only look at her with an unreadable expression before Sana pulled her to their next destination but not without enjoying the serenity the place gave off.

~

"Excuse me, what?"

Sana's smile almost threw her off guard.

"Exactly what I said."

Dahyun can't believe this. Out of all the things Sana wanted to do, this was by far the most unexpected one. What was Sana thinking when she considered this place?

The two are in front of a tall building, in fact the highest infrastructure found in Seoul.

"So you want us to dine in Gangnam then go back here to spend the rest of our time in the observatory?"

Sana cutely nods her head and Dahyun can only sigh.

The day is almost ending, might as well give in to Sana's requests.

"Wait a sec, that's too tiring I don't think my lazy ass can walk any further." Dahyun uttered as she pulled out her phone and dialed a number.

"Sana-ssi, wait here for a while. I just have to make this call." Dahyun excuses.

"Don't worry Dahyun-ah!" Sana even gave her a salute before Dahyun turned her back.

"Yo Chae....."

After Dahyun finished her call, Dahyun dragged her back to where her car was parked and brought her in a familiar setting. Sana was confused as to why Dahyun was acting this way when she just said she wanted to dine in 1943 Soju and Beer in Gangnam but then found herself looking at the school she used to teach.

A place she mentioned to Dahyun earlier.

"Dahyun-ah..."

"The students aren't here. They're on a break. Talk about bad timing again." Dahyun lightheartedly scoffed.

When Sana failed to respond, Dahyun turned to look at her only to see tears streaming down her face.

"S—"

Sana quickly wiped her tears away and released a chuckle, "This is nothing to worry about. I just missed teaching. T-that's all."

No. Dahyun was sure Sana missed her old life but it was better to leave it in the air for now so instead of saying it'd be alright, Dahyun reassured her that she will get it back no matter what.

"You'll get your life back Sana-ssi. You're a strong woman, I know you can."

Sana gave Dahyun a genuine smile after that.

45 minutes later, Dahyun and Sana arrived in Lotte World Tower's observatory deck where a hooded figure awaits them.

"What took you so long man? I waited for almost an hour for this don't you know how long the line is?"

"Sorry about that Chae, a car broke down along the way. Didn't saw it comin." Dahyun apologized and took the plastic from Chaeyoung's hand.

Son Chaeyoung, Dahyun's pro-gamer friend who owes Dahyun a favor.

Chaeyoung's eyes landed on Sana and a toothy grin plastered on her face as she looked at Dahyun almost teasingly for the matter.

"Sana! Nice to see you!" Chaeyoung greeted as if they're old friends.

"Uhmm hello?"

Dahyun grabbed Chaeyoung's arm and started to push her away before she can even say something stupid.

"Dahyun talks about you like a lot!"

Or maybe Dahyun was too late for that.

"Just get out you stupid simp for mikasa!"

Chaeyoung can only laugh as she replied, "I'll take it as a compliment! It's an honor to simp for her!" Then proceeds to wave goodbye to Sana who returned a reluctant wave too.

"Nevermind her, she's crazy."

Dahyun started opening the plastic and fixing their dinner when Sana commented something that made Dahyun stop with her movements.

"What did you say?"

"Soulmates. I think you two are. I don't know, I can recognize when I see one." Sana happily chirped.

Dahyun looks at her, bewildered, "Huh interesting."

The two enjoyed their meal and proceeds to use the telescope where Sana had fun looking at the starry night. Dahyun was just quiet, looking at nowhere.

".. orion's belt like that, it's fun right?"

Sana turned to Dahyun who seems to be in deep thoughts. The older left the telescope and sat beside the Doctor, that's when Dahyun was brought back to her senses.

"Dahyun is there something wrong?"

Dahyun turned to her and sat properly before asking, "Sana did you enjoyed this day?"

"Of course! This is like the best day of my life, ever! Why'd you ask?" Sana's smile slowly dropped, "Did...did you not enjoy it?"

Dahyun immediately shook her head, "No, it's not that. Of course I enjoyed this...whatever this is." Her last words was inaudible but before Sana can even speak, Dahyun had already threw in the question she's been meaning to ask.

"Sana-ssi, do you seriously like me?"

Dahyun was serious, tone, posture and facial. Sana couldn't just answer her in a half-assed way that's why she retaliates the sincerity.

"I like you—no—I think I'm already in love with you and I don't need words to prove that." Sana's look softened Dahyun's expression, Sana looked very determined and genuine.

That's when Dahyun diverted her gaze away from her and settled her eyes on the sky, "I'm sorry Sana-ssi. I can't." Was all she said but it was already pretty much clear to Sana what she's trying to say.

"W-what do you mean by that?"

"Sana I'm unavailable."

It was like a silent bomb on Sana, Dahyun was clear when she told her she's taking her out as a prize for having such progress in healing but she wanted to be delusional in that area—she chose to be—that's why instead of questioning what all of these are all about Sana managed to hold a tight grip on herself.

"I see. So a g-girlfriend huh? What a lucky girl." She started, also averting her gaze towsrss the sky where it's easier to push back her tears.

But then Dahyun moved and lifted her hand up, "I'm married, Sana." Showing off her simple wedding ring which Sana mistook it as just a jewelry fashion.

Or more like she chose to think about it as it is.

Wow. Truth really slapped her hard this time.

"O-oh wow." Sana wasn't able to hold it in and started to burst into tears.

"T-take me back to the hospital for now Dahyun-ah."

~~

It's been 3 weeks after that incident. Sana managed to accept her stand in Dahyun's life and that is: Patient 712, Dahyun's friend.

She was heartbroken and it didn't helped the fact that when she went to the cafeteria she saw a devastating sight.

It was Dahyun and a busty female who looks like a model, eating lunch together. The girl was caressing Dahyun's face with adoration but Dahyun doesn't look so happy.

"Jungkook psst."

Over the time, Sana had befriended Jungkook and Taehyung all for the sole purpose of capstone: Kim Dahyun and that will finally put into action today.

"What is it Sana-ssi?"

"Who's that girl Dahyun's with in the cafeteria?" She finally asked.

"Oh you mean Jihyo? Yeah ever since she arrived in Korea after her successful shows, she's been visiting Dahyun non-stop." Jungkook said.

"You mean flirting non-stop." Taehyung cuts in.

Yep. That didn't help Sana at all.

"That must've been her wife." Sana said in a low volume, clearly deflated.

Jungkook and Taehyung froze, Jungkook stopped eating his banana and Taehyung choke on his drink.

"YOU'RE RIGHT!"

"GODDARN IT WHY HAVEN'T WE REALIZED IT SOONER?"

Sana looked back at Dahyun's direction and saw her laughing with the woman in subject. That was the scene that really stabbed her heart.

She never saw Dahyun laugh like that. Not even when they were together on their 'date' as Sana still likes to call it.

~~

A gloomy night for Sana as she spent the past 3 hours just sitting inside the indian tent on the rooftop. It was already past her curfew hours but who cares? Sana was not feeling this day nor the days before that.

A sigh escaped her lips as she slumped down and stretched her hand out to the sky, "The moon is beautiful tonight, isn't it Dahyunnie?"

Then suddenly she heard shuffling and sniffling from the other tent. Someone was crying and it was getting louder.

"Why me? Oh god, why me?"

Sana was curious that's why instead of getting afraid, she gathered up her courage to walk towards the other tent.

"Why me...."

She took a peak inside and was more than shocked to see Dahyun, still on her working clothes with a bottle of vodka in hand while a piece of envelope and paper were clutched on her other hand.

"Dahyun-ah!"

Sana immediately stole the vodka when the girl was about to drink from it again.

"I think that's enough." Sana said.

Dahyun would get in trouble if any staff of theirs would see her that's why Sana doesn't understand why a prim and proper person like Dahyun is drunk in a tent on the hospital's rooftop.

She must've been so hurt with whatever it is that's hurting her, Sana suspects.

"S-Sana? Perfect! Why don't you..answer my question!"

Sana furrowed her brows, "What question?"

"Sana, why me? Why me out of all people? Why do I have to suffer like this? Why me huh?"

Sana clearly doesn't know what Dahyun's going through but hearing her say that is enough to assume that she's going throufh a very hard time.

Sana may be brokenhearted but Dahyun needed someone to lean on right now and that's why, ironic as it may be, a patient comforting a doctor, she pulled Dahyun in and let her cry on Sana's shoulder.

"Fuck, why, whyy me!"

Dahyun's loud sob was the only thing Sana heard that night as she accompanied Dahyun until she fell asleep.

What happened that night, with Dahyun sobbing and questioning herself, stayed on Sana's mind.

That's why she once again gathered up her courage and went to Dahyun's office for answers.

"She's still doing her rounds but you can wait in her office of you'd like Ms. Minatozaki." Her secretary, Joy was nice enough to accommodate her in.

Besides the secretary already knows how close Dahyun and Sana are.

Sana settled in front of Dahyun's desk and noticed a formal looking box on top of it. Now, she wasn't new to Dahyun's office at all and she could definitely tell that box is so out of place.

She chose to ignore it.....at first but then Dahyun was taking a while in her rounds. Call it curiosity but Sana's attention went back to that box.

"A little peek won't hurt right?"

And so she did and saw a plastic bag inside of it. That was supposed to be all but then Sana noticed the label which says: Minatozaki Sana and that piqued her interest even more.

"Wait why is my name in here?"

Surely this isn't illegal, right? Anyone who'd find it labeled with their name would surely get curious.

Sana opened the plastic bag and saw an envelope containing a familiar document, it was the document Dahyun was holding last night, the document that's about to flip Sana's life.

"..yeah I'll call you later Jih. Thanks!"

"Oh? Sana you're here—" Dahyun stopped in her tracks when she lifted her head up and saw Sana scanning the document, shocked at what she has just read.

"Dahyun.... what's the meaning of this?"

Dahyun internally cursed and wanted to hole herself out but when she saw Sana's puzzled expression, she knew it's time for her to know.

"Exactly what you've read Sana."

Sana slammed the document on her table, "It said here I'm perfectly fine and that I'm ready to get discharged any time!"

It was the truth. Sana had already healed from her brain injury and was perfectly capable to handle a life.

"Why? Why would you keep that away from me! So all those progress you and my neuro are telling me, are those lies?!"

Dahyun immediately walked towards her and bravely faced her, "No Sana! That was true!—"

"Even if it was! I didn't need that occurrence for me to live a life, no? That wasn't necessary, right?!"

Dahyun got quiet at this and Sana's already covering her face, wiping her tears as she did.

"Damn it Dahyun I trusted you! I spent my 2 years here for noth—"

Then Dahyun lost it.

The facade she's putting on, she lost it.

"You're my wife Sana!"

It's like everything stopped and the only thing moving were Sana and Dahyun's heart beats.

"What?" It was more of like a whisper but Sana managed to say it, breaking the ice.

It was then that Dahyun's tears started to shed but the doctor immediately wiped it as she went over to the box and grabbed something then placed it on the table.

It was Sana's identification card.

Kim Sana

Then Dahyun's wallet was next where a photo from their wedding in a polaroid was kept.

"It wasn't easy. Watching you from a far. I wanted to hold you and make you feel better but I couldn't because I'm a trigger you shouldn't ever pull." Dahyun softly explained, letting her tears drop on the desk.

"Wha—I don't understand this! Why would you keep me in the hospital? Tell me!" Sana was frustrated a s she was pretry much overwhelmed with everything that her brain can't cope with.

"I needed to keep you here or else the moment we discharged you, your mother is going to marry you to Tzuyu!" Dahyun fired and walked back to Sana, holding her shoulders.

"You got a huge headache in the middle of teaching and when you woke up you couldn't remember me at all! At first we all thought it was amnesia but that wasn't the case Sana. You remembered everything...just not with me in it. Your brain erased me and other things that remind you of me from your memories and I don't know why." Dahyun cried, voice hoarse as she tried to explain it in one go.

"It turns out you have a region in your brain that stopped working, erasing me from it. I couldn't get near you because my presence might explode that nerve and you might end up brain-dead."

Sana closed her eyes as she took a deep breath, "Was my mother against our marriage?"

"That was the problem Sana. I couldn't claim you as mine because only little people knew about our marriage, excluding your mother."

Before Sana can even speak, Dahyun continued, "I've thought about it many times. Talking to your mother but I was scared she's going to use your situation against me that I might be taking advantage of your situation to declare you as my wife."

"Then why didn't you? Dahyun you could've proved that to her!"

"I did. I did Sana....the 5 days I was gone. I went to your hometown in Busan and had a talk with your mother. It didn't go well as she started accusing me of things. It turns out your mother is much more close-minded than what I expected."

Sana opened her mouth in shock. All those times, she had absolutely no idea that was happening.

"I know it was selfish in keeping you here. I'm really sorry Sana. I'm so so sorry."

Kim Sana. She's Dahyun's wife. It was too good to be true but Sana knew she had to verify this on her own.

She needs to know and find herself once again.

And so Sana wiped out her remaining tears and looked at her straight in the eyes, "You're right. You've been selfish for quite so long. This time, it's my turn."

That was all what Sana said before she grabbed the box and stormed out of the room leaving crying Dahyun behind.

~~

"Woah seriously?! Sana's your wife and you didn't even told us?!"

"It was already offensive enough that you didn't invite us to your wedding and now this?"

Dahyun can only roll her eyes at the two dorks in front of her, "Check patient 805 and 834's vitals stats. Thanks." She said and left.

Dahyun didn't have the energy to chat not even after a month of Sana's absence. After that confrontation, Sana threatened the hospital to discharge her or else she will be pressing charges, after that there was no sign of her.

Dahyun tried finding her but it seems like her luck has finally ran out.

She went back to her offixe to sort a few things. She still needed to see Chaeyoung, her best friend and best woman after her shift and she's sure it's going to end up in booze that's why she wants to finish work soon.

"Dr. Kim, Mrs. Kang is here." Her secretary informs.

Jihyo? What is she doing here?

"Yeah send her in."

Dahyun leaned her back on the swivel chair and watched as Jihyo waltzed in.

"My dearest sister-in-law, what the hell are you doing here?"

Sister-in-law, wife of Dahyun's half-brother Kang Daniel.

"I heard you're having a tour in hell right now so I wanted to know how hot it is today? And please, drop the formalities as if I didn't served as a wingwoman for you back in college." Jihyo stated.

"Great. Just rub the salt wherever you want." Dahyun muttered and placed her head on the table.

Jihyo laughed and sat on Dahyun's mini couch, "That's not the Dahyun I know."

"The Dahyun you know is long gone. Even Sana couldn't afford to remember her." Dahyun said, followed by a sigh.

"Cheer up tofu! Sana just needed a little more time to absorb this in. Don't take it as a sign to give up. Remember that Mina ghosted Chaeyoung for 7 months before she went back and declared her love for our girl." That information made Dahyun laugh a little.

Jihyo had a point but she was wrong in thinking that Dahyun is giving up just because of that. Dahyun just didn't know how long of a space would she gave to Sana before she pursue her again.

She's just worried Sana might agree to that marriage with Chou Tzuyu. It's something Dahyun couldn't afford to sign: divorce papers.

It would be hard as the two was married in abroad but Sana came from a well-off family, also the Chou's so anything is really possible at this point.

"Is 1 month too short or too long? Jih, I couldn't tell." Dahyun muttered.

Then without warning, Jihyo stood up and went towards Dahyun's desk.

"Tell me, do you really love her?"

Now that irked Dahyun to get up, "What kind of question is that? Of course I do!"

"What was your vow?" Jihyo asked once again.

"Till death do as part!" Dahyun replied, getting fired up.

"Oh? Then why are you here? Why are you parted? Why aren't you doing anything?"

Thanks to Jihyo, pushing her off the edge finally gave Dahyun some courage to face Sana and make things right. At first it was her guilt stopping her from doing so, but it was her love for her wife that overshadowed it.

"I will get her back!" Dahyun stormed out of her office only to see Sana's face the moment she opened the door.

"S-Sana?"

Without any warning, Sana casually gave Dahyun a kiss on the cheeks, "Good Evening to you too hun."

"Wha—What are you doing here?" Dahyun managed to ask despite the redness visible on her face.

"Huh? Isn't it normal for me to visit my wife?" Sana questioned ever so lightly before barging in.

That's when she saw Jihyo and an invisible tension started to grow.

Sana was wearing a black trouser and red sleeveless shirt while Jihyo was still in her formal working attire.

"I see you have a guest."

Dahyun knew so damn well what that tone is indicating.

Even-if-you-explain-you'll-still-be-sleeping-on-the-couch-tonight-tone

Jihyo was entertained by this and as much as she'd like to tease Dahyun even further, she fully understands that the two needs to talk thing over that's why she exited the scene but not without leaving a blow.

"I'll get going now. Take care of yourself darling." Jihyo said in such a soft tone before pressing a kiss on the cheek Sana had kissed her.

Oh no..oh no no no no

Goddarn Jihyo!

The moment Jihyo closed the door was the second Sana started hitting Dahyun with her purse.

"Ow! Hey! Ow ow! Sana stop!"

"How dare you! I was just gone for a month and now you're already cheating on me! This is outrageous! Let me just shave that girl's—"

Dahyun immediately held her wrist and stopped her from attacking Jihyo.

"The audacity of her kissing you in front of me!"

"Sana wait for a second! Why are you getting mad over my sister-in-law?" Dahyun was genuinely confused as to why Sana suddenly had a bad blood with Jihyo.

Thankfully, that made Sana stop, "S-sister-in-law?"

"Yeah and also a friend from college." Dahyun said as she ushered Sana to sit on the couch.

But she didn't.

"I thought she was your—nevermind about that!—is this how you treat your wife?"

"H-huh?"

Confirmed: Dahyun was lost.

Sana lifted up her hand and showed Dahyun their wedding ring, "Yes Dahyun, wife as in your partner for the rest of your life."

"But—I don't—ha?"

Sana took a deep breath before sitting on the couch and patting the space beside her. Dahyun immediately obeyed, not wanting to anger her wife any further.

"I hope you didn't misunderstand why I had to leave the hospital. I wanted to make things clear with my mother." Sana starts to explain.

Dahyun was listening intently as Sana continued what she was saying, "But then I found out that she's in Japan at the moment so I had no choice but to ask for Nayeon's help and to accompany me there. I told my mother to stop pestering someone who's already married or considered our ties cut."

"I see. Your mother finally learned her lesson." Dahyun muttered and Sana heard that but she shook her head.

"She did not. I cut my ties with her. I took too long because I also had to deal with my annoying relatives. I'm just glad Tzuyu was there to help me." And by the mention of Tzuyu's name, Dahyun didn't noticed her brow rose up which causes Sana to laugh and placed her hand on Dahyun's cheek.

"Rest assured. I'm all yours."

Dahyun sighed, "Look Sana, hon, I'm really so—mmmhmm."

Before Dahyun can even apologize, Sana had already attacked her lips and Dahyun hated herself for whining after it didn't last long.

"Say Sorry one more time—"

"Sorry."

Then Sana kissed her again, this time making her way on Dahyun's lap as she bit her lip.

"I see you're enjoying this." Sana smirked.

"I missed you so goddamn much." Dahyun wasn't able to contain her happines as she cupped Sana's face and kissed her deeply.

Fuck oxygen for breaking them up. They needed to. Sana rested her forehead against Dahyun's and placed her arm around her neck.

"If you were my Doctor in charge, we could've done this sooner or later. I'm sick and tired of seeing that baldie's face." Sana uttered which erupted a laugh from Dahyun's chest.

"Baldie what the fuck, Sana he's your father-in-law."

Sana widened her eyes and placed a hand over her mouth, "O.M.G."

Dahyun hummed, "Thanks to him, your vision of having that kind of garden on a rooftop became real."

Sana momentarily leaned out from Dahyun with a shocked expression written on her face, "I came up with that?!"

Dahyun nodded.

Dahyun's father, Dr. Kim was renowned neurosurgeon who owned the hospital and its branches, he was also the one that suggested Dahyun not to make any haste actions towards Sana as it can trigger something bad.

"What else am I missing out?!"

"Hmmmm Dr. Min, the doctor in charge of your heart during my 5 day leave, is actually my cousin and the head radiologist, in charge of your tests, Dr. Park is his fiancé. Chaeyoung was my best woman, Jeongyeon was in charge with the food in our wedding, and your friend Nayeon is her girlfriend."

"What?! That wench! What else?"

"It's also funny because even though you can't remember a single thing about me, your actions aren't telling me otherwise." Dahyun pointed out.

"What do you mean?"

"Your habit of resting your hand on my nape or that knowledge of not liking my coffee when it's black, don't deny this I heard you scolding Joy last April."

"Hmmmm well I guess. I am your wife after all."

"When you said Chae and I are soulmates, it's actually the first thing you said to me when we first met. Chae was in the library when I brought her some food because she wasn't properly eating for 2 days straight and you were there beside her, you overheard us and when I left you ran after me to tell me Chae and I are soulmates because you identify one when you see one."

"Woah."

"Though I think you did say it was just a reason to run after me because you find me cute."

"Kim Dahyun!!!"
