Work Text:
June 18
It was lunch break for Enhypen when five smartphones lit up simultaneously, indicating a new message. A knowing look was shared between the six boys before rushed fingers typed a series of affirmations, quickly putting their phones away to avoid suspicion.
The message was simple and quick, leaving next to no room for arguments. Not that anyone would oppose. All five of them had a hunch what the meeting was about when they read the text.
Secret meeting in the living room when sunshine goes for a shower.
The sunshine in context was very much unaware of the said meeting, happily munching away on his cookie.
Soon their practices were done for the day and Enhypen was free to head home and rest.
All through the ride back to their dorm, the boys laughed and teased each other, high on energy despite the grueling practice. They raced to their dorm as soon as the car stopped in front of their building. This was a normal day in Enhypen’s life. Teasing each other, laughing at each other, racing like kids, being competitive was norm for the seven boys.
The only out of the norm thing was the secret plan because of which everyone dog pilled themselves on the couch leaving the bathroom free for Sunoo to shower. Sunoo didn’t pay much mind and happily skipped to the bathroom.
As soon as the click of the bathroom lock was heard the six boys sat upright getting down to business.
“I have a hunch why we are here today but Jungwon please do the honors.” Jay spoke softly making sure Sunoo didn’t hear a word.
“ Sunoo hyungs birthday is approaching and he’s been an angel for us. I thought of doing something special for his day since he’s been making our lives brighter since day one. Enhypen would never have been the same without sunshine. We need to do something for him, he even reminded everyone in our monthly review. We need a plan.” Jungwon stated.
All of them nodded in agreement, thinking over what they can do for their sunshine.
“ What about a surprise party at midnight? We can decorate the dorm or something.” Jay supplied excitedly, smiling from ear to ear.
“That’s a good idea Jay-ah.” Heeseung asserted as the others nodded in agreement.
“ We can get him a mint choco ice-cream cake, since he loves it so much.” Jungwon suggested, whipping out his phone and noting down the plan.
“But mint choco-“ Sunghoon pouted.
“Hoon he loves it so much. He’s done so much for us the least we can do is eat some toothpaste for a day. We love him, we can do this.” Jake said solemnly.
“You really are something Sim Jaeyun.” Jay said ruffling his hair.
Jake blushed beet red at this. “Sunoo deserves everything.” He mumbled out.
All of them smiled gently at the adorable Australian.
“I can make a banner for Sunoo Hyung.” Ni-ki butted in passionately.
Jay laughed silently at their maknae’s enthusiasm, motioning him to be softer.
“These days videos are trending. What if we make a video for him, like a compilation of his adorableness or something.” Sunghoon suggested
“That’s a great idea Sunghoonie. We can also add video messages for him. I’ll help you in this.” Heeseung said.
“Should we also make some tteokbokki, as midnight snacks?” Jay questioned.
Jungwon nodded affirmatively.
“Then I’ll make tteokbokki for him.” Jay declared.
“Okay so far we have a mint choco ice-cream cake, a handmade banner, a video, food and of course individual gifts. Anything else?” Jungwon asked reading out from his list.
Heeseung raised up his hand letting out a squeal of excitement just as the bathroom door unlocked.
All six pairs of eyes widened in panic, they scrambled around like hens in a pen rushing around so as to not look suspicious.
Sunoo looked oddly at his team members suddenly running around but decided not to comment. They had always been a little out of the box he thought to himself.
Before they knew the day had ended, they retired to their own bunks, checking their phones or just playing games when six screen lit up in unison.
Jungwon created a new Group chat- “Sunshine Day”
Jungwon: We have five days to get everything ready. Please don’t act suspicious and MAKE SURE he doesn’t know. It’s a SURPRISE PARTY, let’s make it successful. Let’s make Sunoo Hyung happy.
Ni-ki: Yes boss. I’ll make the banner in the dance practice room. Sunoo Hyung might see it if I make it here.
Jake: let’s make this birthday amazing and memorable for him ^_^
“Are you all texting each other?” Sunoo asked from his bunk.
Six no’s echoed in unison. At once all six phones where kept aside, and suddenly all six of them felt sleepy.
After a series of goodnights, the lights were turned out, leaving a confused Sunoo staring in the darkness with a pout.
They are really weird. He thought to himself before shutting his eyes and turning in for the night.

June 23
It’s finally D-Day. All six of them had been preparing hard for this day, more like night but whatever.
Sunoo, the happy virus liked spending time with people so it was really difficult to hide their intentions, somehow they had successfully finished eighty percent of what they had planned all that was left now was compilation.
They all sat in a group waiting for their choreography teacher to start their practice.
“Ni-ki why don’t we go shopping today since we’re free and you wanted to buy more clothes. I feel like going out today.” Sunoo asked sweetly, expecting an outing.
Ni-ki crossed his fingers secretly before answering, “I already ordered them online and anyways I wanted to rest today after practice.”
Sunoo pouted turning his gaze to his next target, Jay.
“Jay hyung, let’s go out today we can buy groceries or somethin-“
“Sorry Sunoo-ah I am meeting a friend today, I can’t.” Jay countered smiling apologetically.
“Jake hyung and Won-ah why don’t we three go out today?” Sunoo suddenly said with big, bright expectant eyes.
Jake’s eyeballs twitched uncomfortably as all eyes turned on him and Jungwon. Everyone knew Jake couldn’t lie, he was the one who accidentally told Engenes that there was a music video for Fever.
“Jake hyung and I have been called by PD-nim today.” Jungwon quickly interjected earning a relieved sigh from Jake.
Sunoo sighed heavily turning to the last available pair.
“Before you ask Heeseung hyung is going to help me with my studies today.” Sunghoon suddenly announced out of the blue.
“Let’s go for practice.” Heeseung said diverting their attention.
Everyone quickly got up and scrambled away after a chorus of ‘yes’ leaving a perplexed Sunoo alone.
Hasn’t Sunghoon hyung already completed school? He thought to himself.
After some rounds of practicing complicated dance moves for their Japanese debut Enhypen was free.
“I’ll be going out with manager-nim since you all are busy.” Sunoo announced and left without waiting for an answer, probably annoyed.
“We have upset his mood already.” Ni-ki whined.
“Don’t worry he’ll be fine after his outing. Good food and trips make him happy. And we also get time to work on everything. Everyone get back to your tasks.” Jungwon declared clapping his hands twice to have everyone’s attention.
All of them scurried off to do their things.
Ni-ki went to the empty practice hall on the third floor, where he was making Sunoo’s banner; Heeseung and Sunghoon took their laptop and hurried off to a quiet corner to work on the video; Jay left to buy the ingredients for midnight snacks and Jake and Jungwon left to meet PD-nim.
Jungwon was actually telling the half truth then, it’s just that they weren’t called, they were going to convince the PD’s to not record Sunoo’s birthday party. All the members had decided that Sunoo’s surprise party should be a private affair within the group and should not be recorded. They even convinced their managers to not interfere, now they only had to convince PD-nims to not send a cameraman with them.
Jungwon was confident that his convincing skills and Jake’s puppy like eyes will be able to do the magic.

It was almost dinner time when Sunoo came back home from his little outing.
“I’m home.” He announced happily twirling around and with a skip in his step he made his way to the kitchen where he knew all of his members would be.
“I had so much fun today you know. We went to a park and saw real live ducks and swans! Can you believe it swans in a park?!?! Then Manger-nim took me to an arcade, I defeated him in all the games” Sunoo proudly giggled before continuing, “ There at the food court I had a hotdog and fried chicken and cola. All the while Manager-nim kept telling me stories from his own life. He’s is so funny, his stories are hilarious.” Sunoo ranted away animatedly to his members, sporting his signature whisker smile.
All six of them looked fondly at Sunoo, listening with rapt attention to everything their sunshine was telling them.
“I’m glad you enjoyed it Sunny.” Jay said ruffling Sunoo’s hair with a fond smile, “Now rest for sometime. We’ll prepare dinner and call you.”
Sunoo nodded in agreement and scampered away to their bedroom.
“I’m glad we’re doing this for him.” Jake said grinning.
“Let’s make everything perfect.” Sunghoon said.
Everyone nodded, hyped up seeing their Sunshine happy. Sunoo’s happiness meant the world to them now. The change was cumulative and tenacious. Like a kid Sunoo wormed his way into everyone’s heart. How could anyone resist him?
Even though they had know each other for about a year, their ties felt stronger than that of blood. All of them felt a distinct love and affection for each other, of course their ways of showing it were extremely different. Jay and Heeseung were the quiet people, showing their appreciation through silent actions. Niki was clingy and affectionate. Jake, Jungwon and Sunoo were the ones to cry with you. And Sunghoon was unpredictable, he’d be silent yet vocal about his feelings, blurting out random facts and silently caring for the people he liked was his love language.
Despite their different opinions they gelled well together.
Everyone was extremely eager to make Sunoo happy partly because he has done the same for them, sometimes at the cost of his own self and also because he deserves the best and only the best.
It’s not like they loved any member lesser, it’s just that Sunoo had a soft spot in everyone’s heart, marked and saved under his name for eternity.
While Sunoo was resting, the others cleaned their ‘party location’, the living room and 2J whipped up dinner for them, which was ramen and fried pork belly.
Cooking wasn’t a regular occurrence in the Enhypen dorm which is why Jay cooking for Sunoo was a big thing. The most anyone made was rice pancakes and grilled meat, never had anyone made a full meal.
Sunoo sat on his bed, scrolling through his phone choosing photos to share with Engenes. Just as he posted his tweet was flooded with replies, complimenting him and asking about his day. Some of them even wished him an early happy birthday. Sunoo smiled reading all their comments.
Thoughts about his birthday were pushed to the back of his mind. Occasionally he remembered that his birthday was approaching thanks to some Engenes who wished him and posted for his birthday. In their online fan sign many Engenes congratulated and wished him. He knew about all the advertisements and events he had around the city and abroad for his birthday and he was really grateful for that. His birthday seemed like such a big occasion now that he was a part of Enhypen. He really appreciated everything. It always rained on his birthday and that dampened his mood, but now that he was here with people who loved and appreciated him he knew that his birthday be bright and sunny. He didn’t have any expectations, he knew he was loved and appreciated and that was enough for him.
Being loved was enough for Sunoo.
“Sunoo Hyung. Dinners done. Come let’s eat.” Jungwon hollered from outside, breaking Sunoo out of his reverie.
He quietly padded into the kitchen stopping every once in a while to give a bear hug as soon as he encountered a member.
‘Just appreciating you.’ He answered every time they looked at him quizzically. All of them were confused but warmly accepted the free hugs with enormous smiles.
Dinner was filled with chatter and teasing just like every other time.
The maknaes were on cleaning duty after dinner. Jungwon was happily drying the dishes that Ni-ki washed and Sunoo was arranging everything. While he was cleaning the countertop he saw a hidden pack of rice flour mixture and vegetables peeking out from behind the microwave.
“What is this doing here?” Sunoo asked to no one in particular, holding it out for everyone to see.
Jungwon and Ni-ki exchanged pointed looks. The hyung line looked up from the dinning table with wide eyes, mentally cursing Jay.
“Hahaha. Sorry! I forgot to keep them inside. My friend who I went to meet today works in a supermarket so he gave me this fresh stuff…. Hahaha.” Jay explained straining out awkward laughs.
Heeseung also joined Jay in his fake laughs before slapping him on his back and saying, “Jay-ah is forgetful. Don’t mind him Sunoo. He’ll be more careful now. Won’t you Jay?” while glaring at him
“Yeah definitely.” Jay just nodded gulping in fear at the hidden meaning behind his hyung’s words.
“Oh it’s okay hyung. I’ll keep it inside for Jay hyung.” Sunoo said, already arranging all the ingredients and putting them in their proper places.
“Can’t believe we almost got caught.” Jake mumbled under his breath.
After that everyone hastily winded up everything and went to bed. Sunoo protested saying that it was too early. Jung won explained that they need to rest for tomorrow before switching off the lights indirectly telling everyone to sleep.
Sunoo pouted a little but closed his eyes listening to the young leader. He knew that their schedule was lined up tomorrow. A birthday celebration meant a busier schedule. Since their Japanese debut was really near they had to take Japanese lessons, perfect their dance moves and go for photo shoots. Because of his birthday he knew that a Vlive was also added to their day.
‘Jungwon only wants us to be properly rested for tomorrow. More rest means more energy for my birthday.’ Sunoo thought to himself with a smile before closing his eyes, trying to sleep.
What Jungwon actually wanted was for Sunoo to sleep so that they can prepare everything for their surprise. The faster Sunoo slept the more time they had to get everything done.
It had been fifty three minutes since lights out. Adequate time for Sunoo to drift away in dreamland. With a hand movement Jake signaled Jay to check if Sunoo was asleep yet.
Jay tiptoed to Sunoo bed and made sure he fast asleep before slinking out of the room with the others hot on their heels.
Making tteokbokki was time consuming, so Jay had asked for help from the only two others who could cook, Jake and Heeseung.
The eldest three sneakily started working on the recipe, Jake was making the broth, Heeseung was responsible for chopping vegetables and other ingredients while Jay made the tteoks from scratch. All three of them worked in perfect harmony, making as little noise as humanly possible.
Meanwhile the Jungwon, Sunghoon and Ni-ki sat on the floor in the living room, inflating balloons with diligence, praying that none of them would burst.
A while later Jake came from the kitchen, dressed in all black.
“The delivery person will be here in ten minutes. Let’s get the banner and everything from the basement till then.” Jake said ushering Ni-ki who followed him.
“The balloons are done. We’ll hang it up and then ready the Video and then the banner.” Sunghoon stated tying ribbons on the balloons.
All of Sunoo’s gifts were prepared and packed. They were kept in the store room in the basement along with Ni-ki's banner so that he wouldn’t see it.
Ni-ki took the banner while Jake held the gift bag on their way to the main gate. The cake was being delivered from Sunoo’s favorite place, they could have gone to get it themselves but because of the time crunch they had it delivered instead.
The duo stood there waiting for the cake.
Upstairs things were almost done. Jay and Heeseung had finished everything now they just had to wait for the tteokbokki to cook. Jungwon and Sunghoon were almost done, one side of the wall was covered with foil curtains and decorated with balloons and stickers. They had left someplace for Ni-ki's banner next to their set up.
Jungwon collected and cleaned the left over balloons and stickers while Sunghoon set up the video.
Sunghoon and Heeseung had very ardently worked on the video. They had gathered Sunoo’s videos and photos from different sources and combined them with birthday wishes that they found on Engene twitter. After a lot of editing, they were proud of their efforts and believed that their sunshine would love it.
Heeseung’s expensive laptop finally came handy. Sunghoon thought to himself as he connected the laptop to the smart TV, running a check to make sure everything was functioning.
“Everything’s done I think.” Sunghoon said to himself as he sat down checking up on everything.
“Where are Jake hyung and Ni-ki?” Jungwon asked
As if on cue the said duo made a grand entrance, hands full of goodies.
Jake cautiously placed the gift bag gesturing Jungwon to hide it. The gifts were the last part of the surprise. Ni-ki hastily went to the kitchen and kept Sunoo’s mint-choco cake in the freezer.
Jay and Heeseung’s tteokbokki was done and so was every other thing. They all quietly padded to the living room.
“Wow! You all did a pretty good job.” Heeseung exclaimed when he first saw the set up.
Jay nodded in agreement looking around at everything.
“Fifteen more minutes. Everything is done lets just hang this banner.” Jake announced.
They all helped Ni-ki in putting up the banner.
“Ni-ki your artwork is beautiful.” Sunghoon let out in amazement. Everyone agreed with the Ice Prince. This was their first time seeing the complete thing.
Ni-ki blushed, smiling softly at the praise.
“Ten more minutes till midnight.” Jay announced.
“Now we wait.” Heeseung said.
They all sat on the ground, careful to not demolish anything.
All of them were bubbling with excitement. Each passing second doubled up their excitement.
“I’m really nervous.” Jungwon voiced out.
“Everything is perfectly done. I wish he likes it.” Jay said trying to calm down his own nerves.
“He will. Sunoo would have loved it even if we wished him empty handed at midnight. Little actions make him happy.” Sunghoon said, stating out his daily Sunoo fact just like he did everyday.
“Five more minutes. Let’s get this party started.” Jake said signaling everyone.
Jay brought the candles and matches while the maknaes took out the cake. Jake took the birthday hat, the one shared by Soobin and Seokjin hyung. Sunghoon pulled out the party poppers and Heeseung ran one last check before switching off the lights.
Together they slowly walked to their room, holding their breath.
Jay lit up the candles before opening the door softly.
All of them sang the Happy Birthday song which resonated through the dorm, waking up the sleeping birthday boy.
Sunoo sat up, startled at the unexpected noise. The light glow from the candle illuminated the faces of his members. An easy, grateful grin broke on his face as he realized what was going on.
Jake went forward and gently placed the birthday hat on Sunoo's head as the others continued singing.
“Happy birthday Sunny.” Jay said before holding out the cake for him to make a wish.
Sunoo’s eyes lit up seeing the familiar mint colored cake.
“You all got mint-choco cake for me?!?!” he exclaimed.
Except Ni-ki everyone hates mint-choco. This was such a big gesture.
“Of course Sunoo Hyung. Anything for you.” Ni-ki said grinning at the older's surprised expression.
“Now make a wish.” Sunghoon said.
Sunoo blew out the candles with a broad smile on his face. Sunghoon popped the party popper at the exact same moment that the candles went out.
Jungwon turned on the lights and all them just looked at each other, Sunoo in amazement at his members who went out of their way and the rest at the smile which never left their Sunshine’s face.
“Thank you so much. I really don’t know how you all managed to get the cake from my favorite shop. It’s an hour away! But I’m really really thankful. You all ordered a mint choco cake for me when no one in this dorm likes it. Thank you, really.” Sunoo said beaming at his teammates.
“Well hyung. This isn’t it. You’ve underestimated our love for you I think.” Jungwon said with a smirk.
“More!?” Sunoo exclaimed, eyes wide as saucers.
Ni-ki nodded before bowing extravagantly and holding out his hand.
Sunoo looked between the hand and the members before slowly slipping his hand into the maknae's and following his lead.
Ni-ki led Sunoo to their dark living room in the most royal manner possible. The lights were off until Sunoo was in position.
With a booming clap the lights were turned on.
Sunoo gasped in surprise at the scene before him. The living room was decked up, streamers decorated the walls, balloons hung from the ceiling, a large fox shaped foil balloon adorned the wall and just beside it was a banner. In big bold letters his name was written in the middle decorated by tiny suns with smileys, a replica of his drawing in their art therapy class. Sunoo’s caricature and Sketch stood out against the min background, all of Sunoo’s favorites were hand drawn on it. In corner there were tiny Enhypen chibis surrounding Sunoo holding a birthday cake, quite similar to the scene before.
Sunoo covered his mouth with his hands murmuring under his breath as he slowly twirled, taking in everything.
“You did this for me!?” Sunoo asked astonished beyond coherency.
Sunghoon let out a laugh before motioning Sunoo to sit down. He clapped once when Sunoo was safely seated on the couch.
All the lights turned off and the television started playing a video.
It started with Sunoo’s entry into I-land, with Heeseung’s narration playing as the background music.
‘Just like sunshine you slowly walked into our lives, brightening our mundane lives.’
Sunoo giggled remembering his past bubbly, enthusiastic self.
The scene then blurred, rolling into short clips of Sunoo, Sunoo-ing around his members, just him laughing, teasing, sleeping, pouting, eating, being adorable and loving.
‘Having you around is a God sent blessing. Sunoo-ah you may not be able to cook but you sure know how to cheer us up, you may not be able to live without mint choco but we’re willing to eat mint choco for you. This smile suits you, we treasure it and promise to keep it intact until the ends of time.”
The scene then shifted to some baby videos.
‘You have always been a jolly human, invariably empathetic and understanding. Your genuineness is why everybody loves you and also because you are adorable. You still are like that child dancing enthusiastically on school programs. Please don’t let the world dull away your brightness. We know that sometimes things can be difficult but we’re here for you. Just reach out, six members of Sunoo Protect Squad will rush to your assistance. You maybe be turning an adult but be sure that you’ll always be our little adorable Sunshine. We love you Sunoo-ah. ALWAYS.”
Pictures of Enhypen staring with heart eyes at Sunoo floated on the screen along with some birthday wishes from Engenes before the video ended.
Sunoo’s eyes were glassy, he took a withering breath before standing up and launching himself on his members who sat on the ground.
“I can’t say anything without sounding like a broken record. All this blew my mind! I must have saved a country in my past life to get so much love.” Sunoo said while hugging his members.
“You deserve all of it and so much more.” Jay said softly ruffling Sunoo’s hair with a fond smile.
“People we’re now progressing towards the highlight.” Jungwon announced like an MC and on cue Jay got up and went to the kitchen.
Sunoo looked at everyone curiously hoping for some hints. All of them just smiled feigning innocence.
Jay returned with a dish in his hands and a pair of chopsticks.
Sunoo sat up eagerly, waiting to find out what was inside.
“Are you ready Sunny? No cheating, I want honest reviews.” Jay said removing the lid, revealing the tteokbokki they made.
“Oh my goodness!! Tteokbokki!?!? You made this?!” Sunoo screeched springing up to his feet.
Jay shrugged before offering him the chopsticks. Sunoo let out a loud ‘thank you for the meal' before digging in.
He let out a satisfied sigh as the flavors overwhelmed his senses.
“This is SO good hyung. I can’t believe that you cooked for me. And it’s so delicious. I’m never going to eat tteokbokki without remembering this.”
The cooking team beamed at the appreciation.
Sunoo fed all of them a little from his plate before closing the dish and storing it away for later.
“Now the real last part.” Jake announced before disappearing into their make-up room and returning with a bag full of wrapped gifts. He held out the bag for all six of them to take out their gifts.
“This is too much….. you all didn’t need to go out of your way for this. I made you all work so hard.” Sunoo said unintentionally pouting at the floor.
“Hey hey hey Sunoo-ah nothing we do for you is bothersome. Your happiness stands before everything and we all willingly did this. Because we wanted to see you happy.” Jake assured him.
Sunoo abruptly stood up and went around to individually hug everyone.
“Thank you.” Sunoo whispered before settling down in his seat.
“I would like to go first.” Ni-ki said raising his hand and flailing around enthusiastically.
All of them laughed at their maknae’s adorableness.
Ni-ki placed a small package before Sunoo and said, “I know how much you love this so I got you some. It was really difficult to get and I hope you like it.”
Sunoo opened the wrapping to find skincare products from his favorite brand. He smiled in gratitude before letting out a series of thank yous.
“Mine next.” Jungwon said handing him a light box and a small wrapped booklet.
“You'll love both of them.” Jungwon said with a confident grin.
Sunoo unwrapped the book like thing first, it was coupon book, containing gift coupons from different stores and restaurant. A perfect fit for Sunoo who liked going out.
Sunoo thanked him for the gesture before opening the tiny box. Inside the box sat an exact replica of Sunoo’s ditto pop socket personalized with his initials.
“Won-ah!!! This is so adorable. I really missed my ditto thank you so much.”
“I knew you’ll like it.” Jungwon said with a proud gummy smile.
Sunghoon handed Sunoo his present next.
A really small rectangular card wrapped in mint colored paper.
“It’s something only special people get.” Sunghoon stated with a smirk.
Inside was a signed photo card of Sunghoon himself.
“Now you can appreciate my handsomeness all the time.”
“Really Sunghoonie hyung?” Sunoo let out unimpressed while Ni-ki snickered in the background.
“Okay okay. Just kidding. Here’s your real gift. I got you this because you liked mine so much.” Sunghoon said before sliding a Givenchy perfume across.
Sunoo gasped holding the bottle with extreme care. He sprayed a bit in the air and it smelled exactly like Sunghoon’s own perfume.
“Now we’re matching Sunoo-ah.” Sunghoon smirked.
“Stop being cocky you idiot.” Heeseung chided playfully.
“Next up is a humble gift from Sim Jaeyun to Kim Sunoo of Enhypen.” Jake said before giving Sunoo a bulky package.
Sunoo promptly opened it with severe inquisitiveness, revealing hoodies.
“I thought they’ll really look good on you and I couldn’t choose so I brought all of them.” Jake explained with an awkward laugh.
“Thank you so much hyungie.” Sunoo said flashing him a whisker smile.
“I didn’t know what to get you. So um pardon me if you don’t like it, we can get something you like instead.” Jay ranted before shoving the a big box in Sunoo’s lap.
It was a pair of Prada trainers.
“Hyung! Are you insane? How can you give me such an expensive gift?!” Sunoo said scrambling to return the box.
“Do you not like it? I brought this for you. If you don’t like this we can get rid of it and buy something else you lik-“
“Get rid of it?! Jay hyung this is so expensive just get a refund.”
“Not possible. Either you keep it or we get rid of it.” Jay said sniffling.
Sunoo gaped at his Hyung while others looked back and forth between the duo. Everyone knew that once Jay made up his mind there was no going back.
“Hyungie you’re being unreasonable. It’s so expensive and they’re too pretty to be discarded.” Sunoo tried to make him understand.
“You like it so it’s yours now.” Declared Jay signaling end of all discussions.
Sunoo pouted and kept the box aside, making a note to convince him later.
“Okay as the Mathyung I’m responsible for the finale. I think you’ll like it. I put a lot of thought into it, I really hope you do like it.”
Heeseung got up from his place and went to his room returning with a small square box.
“Happy birthday Sunshine.” He said before handing him the box.
Sunoo opened the box gasping in awe. Inside the box, sat a charm bracelet peeking out from the pink tissue.
“Its beautiful hyung.” Sunoo said, holding the bracelet with both hands for everyone to see.
There were nine small charms attached to it. One charm representing each member along with a fox and a sun symbolizing Sunoo.
“Heeseung hyung you really thought this through. I LOVE IT! Now all of you will be with me wherever I go.” Sunoo let out, eyes gleaming with amazement and appreciation.
“We have one last surprise for you.” Heeseung said taking out a plain white envelope from his pocket.
“We know that you love thrill and adventure. On multiple occasions you have said that you’d want to go for adventure sports.”
“Oh my God!!” Sunoo screeched understanding where this was going.
All of them smiled at his reaction.
“Yeah. So for you we all decided to become a little brave and go bungee jumping together.”
Sunoo did a little happy dance.
“I can’t tell you how much all this means to me. All of you went out of your way to make this happen. Never before has anyone done so much for me. I won’t possibly ever be able to tell you how much you all mean to me. All this while the smile never left my face. All six of you have done so much for me, whenever I needed help you all were there. We might have started off as strangers who were rivals but all six of you have become my family. I’m blessed to have you around. Thank you for making my day special, this is possibly the best birthday ever.” Sunoo said before opening his arms for a group hug.
All of them hugged, holding on to Sunoo with their life.
“We are indeed family. We love you Sunoo-ah. Happy Birthday!” Jake mumbled from in between the hotchpotch of arms.
A chorus of Happy Birthday’s rang through the room.
“Lets eat cake now.” Ni-ki said breaking apart from the warm embrace.
Groans were let out but they ate it nonetheless because it was Sunoo’s cake.
All through the night they cuddled on the couch, eating while narrating the behind story for the surprise. And if their eyes were puffy the next morning, it definitely wasn’t because of the lack of sleep.
