Work Text:
Ruby couldn’t help but stare, locking eyes with Blake from across the room. In all honesty, Ruby couldn’t help herself or stop herself.
It felt as if time had slowed down. An eternity could pass by, but they’d stay the same. She could feel her devotion to her in her veins, Blake’s love with each beat of her heart. They fell in sync with one another while the world around them continued on.
Ruby couldn’t tell you when exactly these feelings had developed. Perhaps it happened as soon as she crossed paths with the faunus. As if the universe had set her up to collide with Weiss on that disastrous first day which in turn led Blake to her. Timing was everything. But, just as quickly the moment had come, they were soon pulled back into reality. Back to the present, back to what their lives were right now. Yang comes back, pulling Blake into her arms and away. Ruby watches as she continues to wait for Penny.
She loves her sister, really, she does. But she also loves Blake. She loves her so much that she fears it will burn her, doing her best to reign it in because it feels like too much. If she lets herself feel this love to the fullest extent, she’s more than certain her heart will burst. Ruby sighs and curses softly under her breath. Would she feel this way forever? Would her heart continue to ache each time she saw her?
So, Ruby does her best to try and settle her heart.
