Bleary and sore eyes slowly opened to the sight of a cold and calculatedly depressingly designed cell. She saw the abrasions on her beige forelegs, and slowly rolled her head to get her disheveled blue and pink mane clear from her face. The headache… Concussion or something that knocked her out? She guessed spell, but not a polite sleep spell.
Bon Bon groaned slowly. It started coming back. And she knew where she was. Or at least roughly. It was bad. After all of it, it really would be Changelings, huh? Down what she assumed was the corridor outside the door she heard scuffles and muffled protests, silenced by a sickening thud. Then a cell door closing.
Yeah. Bad. Had they gotten Peppermint too? Tiny? Who slipped?
Bad to worse, as it turned out. The door was roughly opened by a Changeling officer, then a new figure was thrust forward. Her heart leapt in her chest at the sight of a mint and white unicorn mare, only to dive to crushing depths at the realization of her battered condition. And the fact that Lyra was in this situation too.
Bon Bon struggled to her hooves and went to her lover's side. No serious injuries, thank Celestia and Luna both. Intimidation. Probably as much to be psychological effect on her as any actual interrogation on Lyra's part. "Lyra? Hey!" She tried to keep her voice level, stroking the normally tidy flowing striped mane. "It's okay. It's me, Bon Bon. You with me?"
Terrified amber eyes turned up to the bruised but reassuring face, expression falling short of relief to reach faint hope. "...Bon Bon? They- They said you were here. They said they caught you performing some sort of seditious activity. They snatched me off the street, I've been worried sick about you!"
Lyra finally managed a smile as she pulled herself up into an upright position and embraced the earth pony, who held her close, eyes starting to tear. "Lyra… I'm so sorry. You don't deserve this. There's no reason to bring you here."
The unicorn sniffled. "It's okay. I know you're okay now. You're alive. And we're together. But… What did you do? I didn't think you were active? S.M.I.L.E. doesn't exist, hasn't existed in years. You gave up secrets and sneaking around. You promised me." Bon Bon just shook her head, resting it on Lyra's shoulder. "I know. And I didn't do anything. I don't know why they brought me in."
Bon Bon nuzzled her beloved mare's cheek with a little chuckle. "They'll feel silly when they figure out it was probably some sort of misplaced documents. Then we can get drinks together. Your favorite? Would you like that? A nice vanilla milkshake?"
Lyra just nodded, giving another squeeze. "That sounds nice."
The light in Bon Bon's light blue eyes faded as she stared at the stained cement wall in slow resignation. "It does. I'm decently impressed, if a little disappointed."
"Hu- huh?"
Bon Bon kept up a calm tone. "Mannerisms are accurate. You haven't had to move much, but movements you've made have been pretty on point. How long were you watching her, you disgusting roach?"
Lyra pulled away with a look of betrayal on her face, heart-rending to the core. Bon Bon just sat back against the cold wall and stared.
Then she smiled and started singing loudly.
Equestria, the land I love, a land of harmony
Our flag does wave from high above, for ponykind to see
Equestria, a land of friends
Where ponykind do roam
They say true friendship never ends
Equestria, my ho-
She didn’t flinch when the Changeling impersonator shifted back, and Special Agent Sweetie Drops didn't stop until the insectoid struck her with a bolt to the breast, stunning her to unconsciousness.
