It had been 2 full months since Todoroki had officially joined the Eraser-mic family. After being adopted by the mismatch couple and saved from the abusive endeavour ( he refused to call that monster dad ) he had fully settled into the domestic life and love of living with a healthy and supportive family.
Aizawa , or pap as Shoto had started calling him , was a way bigger softy then the boy could have ever imagined. He was protective and kind , showing his love through his actions. The little things like making Soba when Shoto had a bad day or ensuring the boy had no injuries every night made Shoto feel so loved. Sometimes he would catch Aizawa staring at him smiling softly and it made him feel fuzzy inside. He hadn't been loved in so long.
Hizashi , or just ' dad ' ,was more open with his love for his new son. He went out of his way to talk about Shotos interests even if he didn't personally understand them. He was always physically affectionate making sure to respect boundaries and is always reminding his children that they are loved and to come to him about anything and everything.
Shinso was also incredibly protective of the boy. Walking him to class each morning and keeping an eye on him around campus , which confused Shoto. He had never had problems with school it was just his home life however he appreciated any kindness that he got. Shinso would read up on what endeavour was doing in the news so todoroki didnt have to.
They were all incredibly kind and although they had been a family of three for longer , they all made sure to include Todoroki and make him feel welcome. He knew that this was what a family was supposed to feel like.
They weren't just loving to him though , they cared about eachother so passionately. Aizawa would make a point to take a picture of every cat he sees to show Shinso. Shinso would put on Hizashis favourite songs in the car so that they would sing along together.
And Hizashi and Aizawa? Their love was so fierce. They looked out for eachother, knowing the others schedule for the day like the back of their hand. They made sure have regular " date " nights even if they just a takeaway pizza and had a night infront of the TV.
They made the perfect little family and Todoroki was so glad to be apart of it.
Todoroki would always be thankful for the day Aizawa knew something was going on at home , he acted immediately and saved Shoto alot of suffering. It was on Wednesday morning , they had a quiz to see how much they knew about heros over time.
Shoto normally tries hard on class, wanting to get the best grades to impress Endeavour but today he couldn't concentrate, and It didn't go unnoticed.
As the 1A got up for lunch Aizawa called the boy over , a hint of confusion and worry on his face.
" What's going on Todoroki, this is incredibly poor from you ! As a top student you should be nowhere near the bottom of the pile but here we are. "
His teacher waited for excuses and apologies about his test. Waiting for promises to do better next time. Shoto couldn't though , he knew next time would be the same.
Aizawa sighed irritability, " Did something happen to prevent you from doing well ? You've seem shattered all day. "
This was when Todoroki couldn't hold it in anymore , maybe it was someone fianlly noticing that he wasnt alright or just the kind look on the seniors face.
" Endevour and I were training until late, my body is just very burnt and sore so I couldn't concentrate. "
He saw the mixture of emotions cross his teachers face. Shock , worry and anger . He wondered what he had said wrong , if his bluntness made him seem cocky as he was often told it did.
" When you say you were burnt ... do you mean that you were practicing using your fire ?"
" No. Endeavour uses his fire to ensure I'm doing everything correctly."
The next thing the boy knew Aizawa was stomping him to his office , after taking him to recovery girl , to make several angry calls. The senior declared on the phone that it was unsafe for the boy to stay at home and he needed to be removed immediately.
A social worker had come in and was talking about putting Shoto into emergency care, and then a temporary Foster home until they could find a home for him. Aizawa was having none of that.
He said he knew from experience with his first son how horrible those places were and he would never let one of his pupils go.
He remebers Aizawa inviting the social worker and Shoto into his home, showing that not only did he have the space for the boy but he had the experience and done the paperwork before.It turns out he had adopted Shinso from general studies a while ago.
Although the social worker had too place Todoroki in a Foster home for the night, he was able to move in quickly. His new parents both being pro heros definitely helped the process .
Endeavour was furious of course, demanding to see his master piece and get custody. However when Hizashi bluffed that he would go to the press if the number one hero continues , he quickly stopped and cut off all ties with shoto.
So here he is , several months later. No burns from training, no sneaking around to avoid getting hurt. He was in a home that was full of nothing but love and he was incredibly thankful.
