Katara stared at his timid face, her mouth agape and eyes wide.
“Oh, honey, that’s wonderful,” she finally said, smiling. “Why were you afraid to tell me?”
He stared out at Bumi and Kya playing in the distance. “I just… I don’t want things to change.”
Katara gathered her third born in her arms and held him tight. “Things will change regardless. We need to be ourselves anyway.”
He sat silent in her lap for a long time.
Eventually, she saw Aang turn to look at them with joyful recognition from across the field, Tenzin’s secret blowing against his robes.
